Brevard Man Arrested For Killing Mother-In-Law

BREVARD COUNTY, Fla. -- A Brevard County man is behind bars Thursday morning, accused of killing his elderly mother-in-law in a dispute over money.
Eyewitness News cameras were at the scene Wednesday night when 75-year-old Ronald Bozik was arrested on murder charges. Investigators say he beat his 82-year-old mother-in-law to death in her Indialantic home Monday night.
"Do you have anything to say about this?" questioned the throng of reporter as Bozik was taken away to jail by Brevard County deputies. "You're charged with her murder," another shouted.
Bozik did not have anything to say in response.

VIDEO REPORT: Man Charged With Killing Mother-In-Law
Brevard County investigators say Bozik killed his mother-in-law, 82-year-old Lila Watson, on Monday. WFTV cameras captured Bozik at the scene as investigators searched for evidence.
Investigators say Bozik beat her to death and then dragged her body into the living room to make it look like an accident. They say he even used bleach to clean up the crime scene.
Brevard County detectives believe there was a dispute about finances and the care of the victim's husband who is in a nursing home.
"It's a guess, but our theory is that it's possibly a money or financially motivated thing that was an argument that went bad," said Lt. Todd Goodyear, Brevard County Sheriff's Office.
Brevard county investigators told WFTV they had been trying to question Bozik all week, but they say he avoided them.
As a result, investigators got assistance from the Brevard County law enforcement's renowned "Game Over Task Force." Investigators from that unit followed Bozik's wife to the River Palm Hotel in Melbourne Wednesday night and saw Bozik walk out wearing a disguise.
"We found some evidence in the vehicle that linked him back to the scene," said Lt. Goodyear.
Bozik is being held in the Brevard County jail without bond. He is scheduled to make his first appearance before a judge Thursday afternoon.

Re: 75 year old Ronald Bozik arrested for killing his Mother-In-Law
It really makes no sense at all.
Members of the Gameover Task Force arrested a 75-year-old Arizona man Wednesday in connection with the killing of an elderly woman inside her home near Indialantic on Sunday.
Ronald Gordon Bozik of Phoenix is the son-in-law of Lila F. Watson, 82, whose death was caused by blunt force trauma, sheriff's agents said. He was arrested after 6 p.m. Wednesday on charges of second-degree murder. He remains in jail with no bond, officials said. Bozik will go before a judge this afternoon for a first appearance hearing at the Brevard County Detention Center.
Task force agents had been following Bozik's local family members and wife, who drove to the River Palm Hotel on U.S. 1 in Melbourne. When Bozik exited a room and entered his wife's vehicle, he was arrested without incident.
"He tried to conceal his identity by wearing a hoodie, hoping we wouldn't recognize him," Lt. Tod Goodyear of the Brevard County Sheriff's Office said Wendesday. "But it didn't work."
Bozik told police that he found Watson's body Sunday night and called 9-1-1, reporting the death as an accident, according to Goodyear. Detectives quickly noticed that someone had tried to clean blood from the scene with "several chemicals," Goodyear said. Nothing was missing from the home, and there was no sign of forced entry, prompting officials to rule out a burglary.
Bozik was questioned Monday morning and released.
"We didn't have enough evidence at that point to put charges on him," Goodyear said.
Goodyear said Bozik likely got into a quarrel with Watson inside her home at 2115 Palm Ave., in unincorporated Brevard County. Initial findings by the medical examiner indicate the victim was probably beaten with bare fists.
According to interviews with family members, "there was an argument over finances," Goodyear said, who added that the suspect is a large man -- about 6 foot, 4 inches tall. "It was a heated discussion that went bad."
Bozik, a longtime resident of Brevard before moving to Phoenix within the past few years, arrived Friday to collect possessions that were left in storage. "He lived here for over 20 years," said Goodyear, who added that the victim's husband now lives in Arizona, too.
Bozik was to be transported late Wednesday to the Brevard County Detention Center.
