LAKE CHARLES, LA (NBC33) — A Louisiana man was sentenced to 120 years in prison for sex offenses against juveniles that spans decades.
Charles Bergeron was sentenced on Tuesday, June 13 by Judge Clayton Davis in a Lake Charles court room. He was originally charged with 76 counts of child sex crimes. However, on April 17, 2012, Bergeron pleaded guilty to 25 various counts.
Those charges include twelve counts of Indecent Behavior of a Juvenile (7 years for each count), twelve counts of Oral Sexual Battery (10 years on each count), and Second-Degree Sexual Battery (15 years).
Bergeron has an extensive criminal history regarding child sex crimes. His first arrest was in 1975. By 2008 he had been arrested an additional 15 times for similar crimes against juveniles. That same year he was charged with a total of 50 counts of sex crimes against children. His bond was set at $9.5 million.
Bergeron’s victims are said to range in age from young children to teenagers, both male and female.
In 2011 he was arrested for Failing to Register as a Sex Offender and waived the right to a trial by jury. He was sentenced to 10 years in prison, for which he is currently serving a sentence.
We’re told additional victims continue to come forward alleging abuse by Bergeron. Victims of sexual crimes have 30 years after their 18th birthday to report incidents to law enforcement.
Assistant District Attorney Cynthia Guillory prosecuted the case.

Judge Clayton Davis on Wednesday sentenced a Westlake man to 120 years in prison for committing sex crimes against young boys.
Charles Lee Bergeron Sr., 80, pleaded guilty in December to 12 counts of oral sexual battery, 12 counts of indecent behavior and one count of sexual battery.
Prosecutor Cynthia Guillory asked Davis to impose the maximum sentences on each count and said Bergeron is the “sickest of the sick.”
Guillory said Bergeron would invite young boys into his home and give them drugs or alcohol until they passed out. He would then perform oral sex on them.
“He said he told them that he was an old man and needed testosterone ... needed their semen to live, basically,” Guillory said. “Now that’s sick.”
Guillory said Bergeron ruined the lives of multiple young victims over the years. “His fun house became a horror house for them,” Guillory said.
Defense attorney Robert Shelton asked Davis to consider his client’s health issues and that he is receiving treatment in jail.
“It sounds like you are asking for compassion by keeping him in custody so the state can continue to take care of him,” Davis said. “I’m inclined to just let him out and let him fend for himself.”
Bergeron addressed Davis, asking to withdraw his guilty plea and go forward with a trial. “Mercy is all I can ask for,” Bergeron said.
“We’ve heard enough from you. You’re not worth the time or the verbiage,” Davis shot back before imposing the maximum sentences. Davis denied Bergeron’s request to withdraw his plea.
The judge ordered him to serve 120 years for the oral sexual battery counts, 84 years for the indecent behavior counts and 15 years for sexual battery. He ordered the sentences to run at the same time.
The judge said that although the total number of years seems ridiculously high, there “is no basis for giving him anything less.”
Bergeron is serving a 10-year sentence for failing to register as a sex offender. He was convicted of molestation in 2000.
