In the Case Against Casey, all eyes will continue to focus on the science at this week's Frye Hearing.

Just Wednesday, more transcripts of depositions were filed. One of the four added in the court file is of Dr. Madhavi Martin from the Oak Ridge National Laboratory in Tennessee.

Dr. Martin explained LIBS -- Laser-induced breakdown spectroscopy. She said it's a technique that uses lasers to generate specific elements that are present in the sample.

She describes it as making a fingerprint.

This technique has been around since the 1960s.

Martin said she has published 37 articles, spoken at local, national, and international conferences, and is an accepted leader in environmental research.

She was asked by Dr. Arpad Vass to see if she could find magnesium, calcium, sodium, or iron while analyzes carpet from inside Anthony's car.

This type of analysis to determine elements for decomposition has never been introduced in court before.

Anthony's defense team is fighting to keep it out.

During Martin's deposition, she said she helped solve a murder case.

In 2004, Moises Mendoza murdered Rachel O'Neil Tolleson.

Law enforcement in Texas used wood analysis to link Mendoza to the murder.

Martin used LIBS for her analysis. When Mendoza was confronted, he confessed.

Martin is listed along with Vass and Dr. Marcus Bain Wise as assisting in the analysis of air samples taken from Anthony's trunk.

There she is in all her glory, flirting with CM.

Uh-oh, GA told her which was the right garbage bag! KC is not writing today? I thought that CM said that they weren't going to present witnesses for the spoliation motion, just wanted JP to rule on the pleadings. He said that they only had 2 witnesses today.

Kenneth Furton up for the defense about the chloroform in the trunk. He is a chemistry professor.

CA's excuse about why she said something different in her depo was that she was on new medication at that time, which she told LDB about. Evidently, LDB shook her head "no", because CA said, "Yes, I did, Linda!" JA objected to her making comments to counsel and JP told her just to answer the questions. She thinks she can control everything...She makes me sick...I can see why KC turned out like she did.

5-minute recess...

Bozo is trying to get some chart that Furton came up with in as evidence...JA is objecting...CA is talking to her BFF Medina about her clothes by her gestures...

I was listening to the hearing before the 5 min break but could not blog as I had to make Cyra and Katie breakfast.

JA said that there had been a discovery violation...That's what led to the sidebar..and then the recess.

It looks like they have the tech guy there, so I guess they are going to have some audio/visual stuff coming up...

Where is JP? Everybody is there...

JA is objecting to what Furton is going to testify to because he didn't put it in his report...In fact, is saying that he is actually saying something different now...

Continuing to disclose is standard...Defense is supposed to let state know if expert witness is going to change what he is testifying to...

I think defense is in trouble again

Some guy on TruTv is skeptical of this science being accepted as evidence because it hasn't been tested enough...Don't know if JA is going to get this through...

JP is letting JA question Furton now to see if he has changed his opinion or if he just did further research to support his opinion...

JP is yelling at everybody...BE quiet!!!

JA was getting hot with this guy because he was not answering the question...Bozo objected...Everybody kept talking, and JP yelled....

KC is advising CM on what they should do next...LOL

JP has heard enough he says...

JP is saying that Furton has not changed his opinion...JA is saying that his opinion changed from unsupported to supported with new research, which is ambush by surprise to the state...because they didn't disclose this to them..JP is ruling in favor of Bozo, but no exhibit...

JP is being so careful to avoid a successful appeal that I doubt that he is going to allow this science in as evidence, since it is so new...

JP is putting off JA's objections by saying that he will essentially be stricter at trial and is allowing Furton to go ahead and testify...Bozo doesn't have copies of what he is asking about...JA is objecting, says he hasn't seen this, needs to read it...JP just said that "so-called good trial lawyers" have copies for everybody :cheering:

Cr@p if this is not allowed. It is so important. Not everything...but, it adds credence to the circumstantial evidence.

I just got up! darn I didnt see Cindy - who is this guy on the stand - what a jerk - so evasive - If I were a juror I wouldnt believe this guy over Dr Vass!

Yes he is tough. So much of this is way over my head.

Ugh...In session just broke when he was about to admit that the levels in chloroform were higher than what would be expected from household cleaners. He does admit that right?

Linda has been doing some cross examination and in my mind she is better than JA.

Different styles. JA seems very passionate, tough, hurried. She is very methodical and concise. He would make me more nervous if I were on the stand.

Linda is really making an impact and I think the Dog evidence is a given to be brought up at the Trial.
