Remember too that Geraldo has Murdock money. So I am thinking Geraldo has already landed the first interview with Casey.

Makes sense to me. He offers her safe harbor with all the bells and whistles and she offers him first interview.

All brought to you courtesy of Jose Baez and company.

Normal Casey Anthony to be free hours from now

Post by Wrapitup on Sat Jul 16, 2011 9:24 pm

By Anika Myers Palm, Orlando Sentinel

9:57 p.m. EDT, July 16, 2011

As the ominous clouds that had gathered over the Orange County Jail began to let loose this evening, a small group of protesters were well-prepared.

They ducked inside tents and tailgate canopies and huddled with their collection of signs -- some demanding justice for Caylee Anthony, others accusing her mother of trying to profit off the toddler's killing.

As the rain fell and the hours dwindled until Casey Anthony's release, the media still outnumbered the protesters at the jail. The visitors' parking area was packed with news vans, mobile studios and satellite dishes.

Casey Anthony is scheduled to go free sometime Sunday.

Anthony has remained in the jail for nearly two weeks since a jury found her not guilty of the death of her 2-year-old daughter, Caylee Marie. She was convicted of four counts of giving false information to law enforcement; because of time she already has served and other factors, she will walk out of jail sometime Sunday.

Her attorneys, who say they have received threats against the 25-year-old's life, refuse to say where she will go or what she will do upon her release.

Before the rains, the protesters had gathered near the road, where they waved signs at passing drivers on John Young Parkway all day. For some, including Muriel Tizol, the message was simple: "Justice for Caylee," her sign read.

Tizol, who drove from North Port to protest and visit the site on Suburban Drive where the 2-year-old's remains were found, said she had followed the case for three years. She was devastated by the verdict.

"I was really very upset," she said, the emotion evident in her voice. "I'm about to go crazy."

While Tizol's sign was simple others were more complex, and more specific. Orlando native Bree Thornton showed off a folded poster board sign, modeled to look like a future New York Times bestselling book she envisioned.

"What really happened to Caylee" was its title, and written inside, "lies, lies, lies." The book was a clear reference to the aftermath of O.J. Simpson's acquittal. Asked if she thought this case was similar to that one, she said "it seems to be headed in that direction."

Thornton and others expressed fears that Anthony, like Simpson, will try to pen a book, or otherwise profit from her daughter's death. "What we're trying to do is stop that from happening," said Thornton, who plans to work with others to organize future boycotts.

The protests weren't just on-foot. Ronald Brock drove around the area in a truck covered on both sides with biblical imagery and apparent anti-abortion messages. He said he views abortion, Caylee's killing and her mother's acquittal as part of a larger issue.

We've become desensitized to abortion as a society, he said. "Now, we've kind of desensitized to killing a baby out of the womb."

As Brock talked outside of his truck, a plane circled overhead dragging a banner, which boasted an international message: "Canada's verdict: Guilty [expletive]."

Tizol's sister, Carolyn Waters, said she hopes Casey Anthony ultimately suffers some punishment. However, "I wouldn't want any vigilante justice," she said, "I don't think that's right either."

Though emotions were running high, tempers at the jail did not flare, even as protesters shouting proclamations of Casey's guilt marched only feet from a man holding a sign asking for her hand in marriage.

One Anthony supporter, David Antolic of Orlando, said outside the jail today that he thinks Anthony's character has been destroyed by the news media and the protesters, too. Arriving around 2 p.m., he appeared to be the only demonstrator who could be categorized as an Anthony supporter.

He said he hopes to stay at the jail through the night until Anthony's release. He carried a sign that read: "She's not guilty[,] Get over it!"

"She was given her due process," Antolic said. "She was tried. People need to respect that due process."

A few protestors approached him throughout the day, Antolic said. "We all shook hands. We respected each other's opinions," he said of the encounters while standing under a tree alone. By 7 p.m., the situation still remained civil.

Several feet away, a mother-daughter duo from West Palm Beach waved signs with pictures of Caylee.

"I'm very upset and very disgusted with the verdict. This is a way I can vent my frustrations legally," said Latonya Maddry, 36, said. She chanted "murder goes free" as passers-by honked in support.

Latonya Maddry and her daughter, Monika Smith, 15, have followed the case for the last three years. They booked a room at the Days Inn around the corner from the jail so they show their anger over the release of Anthony. They planned to stay outside the jail late.

"I'll go as far as I can — as much as my feet let me stand and my voice lets me yell," Maddry said.

Antolic estimated about 80 people had dropped by the evening. Most of them were protestors, including Frank Klimek, who brought his wife, Elaina, and sons, Michael, 14, and Christopher, 7. They held signs proclaiming that although Anthony was found not guilty by a jury of her peers, she will be judged by a higher power one day.

Klimek of Deltona carried a sign earlier today urging people who feel the way he does not to "do anything stupid," because "God will bring justice."

On the back side of that sign, he wrote about HLN television anchor Nancy Grace, who has devoted many hours of coverage to the Casey Anthony case since 2008. That message read: "Leave Nancy Grace Alone. She brings understanding and her opinion to tell the truth." Grace, who gave Anthony the nickname "Tot Mom," spoke frequently and vehemently about her belief that Anthony is guilty of her daughter's death.

Klimek also said that jurors should have more knowledge before being permitted to make judgments like the one that absolved Anthony of legal guilt for her daughter's death.

"I don't feel justice has been done," he said.

Dozens of members of Operation Save America, an anti-abortion group formerly known as Operation Rescue, also gathered in front of the jail to highlight what members said was a connection between Caylee Anthony's death and legalized abortion.

"Through Roe v. Wade, we have conditioned an entire generation to kill," said the Rev. Rusty Thomas, a Waco, Texas, minister who is one of the group's leaders. "Caylee's death is a retroactive abortion."

The people who gathered outside were just some of the people who feel a strong emotional connection because of the facts of a case that has captivated local and national attention for years.

In summer 2008, Anthony told detectives from the Orange County Sheriff's Office that a babysitter had kidnapped Caylee. She said she had not reported the crime for more than a month because she had been trying to find the toddler on her own.

The child's body was found dumped in a wooded area in December 2008.

When her trial began in May of this year, defense attorney Jose Baez said Caylee had drowned in a backyard pool at the home of Anthony's parents. George and Cindy Anthony denied the allegation.

George Anthony also denied that he had ever molested his daughter, another claim made by Baez.

On July 5, a jury declared Anthony not guilty of first-degree murder and manslaughter in connection with the child's death.

Jail officials, expecting more of the press attention and drama that have surrounded Anthony for three years now, have set up boundaries around the jail that restrict protestors and media from getting too close.

When she leaves the jail, Anthony will be able to take hundreds of dollars sent to her by supporters.

Casey Anthony scheduled to leave jail on Sunday
ReutersBy Barbara Liston | Reuters

ORLANDO, Fla (Reuters) - Casey Anthony is scheduled to exit a Florida jail on Sunday and resume the life on the outside interrupted three years ago when she was charged with the murder of her 2-year-old daughter Caylee.

Anthony was acquitted by a jury on July 5 of culpability in Caylee's death. Since then, her future has been the subject of much speculation, but with no publicly known facts beyond her jail departure date.

Her release has been planned with the same precision that marked her high-profile murder trial followed by audiences around the world.

In recognition of the massive media coverage expected of the release, which could occur any time after midnight Saturday, media representatives and jail managers negotiated a plan which, much like modern war coverage, will allow embedded pool reporters and photographers to document her departure from inside the jail facility.

But the plan is for images and eyewitness accounts of her release to be under wraps until corrections officials determine the 25-year-old has traveled far enough down the road to relinquish the jail's responsibility for her safety.

The jail then will issue a one-line confirmation Anthony is gone.

Her safety is no small matter. Her trial revealed gruesome details of Caylee's death and the disposal of the toddler's remains in trash bags in swampy woods. There was also plenty of evidence of Casey relishing her life, partying and shopping, after Caylee died.

Even her lawyer Jose Baez acknowledged Casey Anthony's outward lack of emotion over the death was "bizarre."

Her acquittal was met with shock and derision by much of the public, egged on by outraged television commentary.

Charles Greene, Anthony's defense lawyer in a related civil defamation lawsuit, told a judge on Friday that he had received seven threats against Casey that day.

EVALUATING THREATS

Orange County (Orlando) Sheriff Jerry Demings said in a news conference last week that his intelligence officers were evaluating threats as they became known.

Much speculation focuses on whether Anthony will try to live quietly out of the public eye, or seek out attention, and just what sort of person she is.

She stopped accepting jail visits from her parents long ago. An attempt by her mother Cindy Anthony to visit her both right before the trial began and just after the verdict were rejected.

Lawyer Greene told a judge that psychologists who examined Anthony at the jail this week found her mentally unstable after the ordeal of the trial, according to opposing lawyer Keith Mitnik.

Mitnik is suing Anthony on behalf of Zenaida Fernandez-Gonzalez, whose life the suit says was ruined after Anthony initially lied to detectives that a woman by that name had kidnapped Caylee.

Prosecutors called Casey Anthony a pathological liar.

Numerous people who spent time with her soon after Caylee's death, including her friends and a psychologist who examined her, were struck by her lack of reaction to the death.

Computer crimes detective Sandra Osborne read every email, instant message, MySpace and Facebook entry on the Anthony family's home computer in preparation for the murder trial.

"I know Casey better than her parents do," she told Reuters recently, describing details not presented at trial.

Osborne said she learned the pattern of computer use at the Anthony house. Someone logged onto the family computer every morning and, again, every afternoon, spending hours at a time on Casey's social networking sites.

Instant messages, emails and comments left on those social network sites during Caylee's life created a picture of Casey as a disinterested mother who rarely mentioned her daughter and never in a positive light, Osborne said.

In one of only two instant message in which Caylee was mentioned, Osborne said, Casey asked a friend whether she should "bring the little snot-head" to a get-together. In the other instant message, she told a friend that "spending a day with Caylee was harder than a 10-hour day at work."

Based on computer usage on the day Caylee died, Osborne said, "there was no reaction (from Casey) that day." Osborne said the same sort of social networking continued as if nothing had happened.

Casey Anthony To Be Released From Jail
Anthony, 25, Found Not Guilty Of Murder In Daughter's Death

POSTED: Saturday, July 16, 2011
UPDATED: 10:53 pm EDT July 16, 2011

ORLANDO, Fla. -- Casey Anthony is spending her last day in jail Saturday preparing for an uncertain future after nearly three years behind bars.

Orange County Jail officials planned to release Anthony sometime Sunday under circumstances they refused to disclose. Experts have said she's likely to be released in the dead of night, and her defense team will try to keep her away from the glare of the media spotlight.

That could be difficult: More than a dozen television trucks already were outside the jail by noon Saturday, though the facility was otherwise quiet. Scores of reporters and cameramen were expected to be outside later on, and local television stations were planning to go live with coverage starting late Saturday night.

Law enforcement officials erected plastic barricades around the jail's booking and release center, and about seven or eight deputies wearing bullet-proof vests patrolled the area.

About a half-dozen sign-carrying protesters gathered outside the jail Saturday night, despite a thunderstorm that brought heavy rain over Orlando. Another dozen or so looked on.

Barbara Tobin, a semi-retired teacher, drove up from Fort Lauderdale and held a "Justice for Caylee" sign.

"I'm disgusted and feel justice has not been served," she said. "It has really made me feel that there is something wrong with our justice system."

The anti-Casey Anthony protesters intermittently chanted, "Caylee, Caylee."

One man, Tim Allen, 24, held the "Casey, will you marry me" sign he carried during her sentencing hearing earlier this month.

"She's beautiful. She has her own unique features," the Orlando pizzeria worker said. "She's pretty and she has a really nice body. That's what young guys like and I'm a young guy.

Earlier, Ronald Brock, 72, was driving around the jail in a red truck decorated with signs equating Anthony with abortion, including one that tells her "Jesus is the final judge."

"Even if nothing happens from our viewpoint, from our thinking, when you take the life of another person something inside you dies," Brock said.

One of her attorneys, Cheney Mason, said Friday that Anthony is scared to leave jail, given numerous threats on her life and the scorn of a large segment of the public that believes she had something to do with the June 2008 death of her 2-year-old daughter, Caylee.

Anthony was acquitted July 5 of first-degree murder in Caylee's death. She was found guilty of four counts of lying to police, but with time served and good behavior credits, she doesn't have to serve out her four-year sentence.

Another defense attorney, Charles Greene, said Friday that Anthony was "emotionally unstable" and needed "a little breathing room" after the draining two-month trial.

That could be difficult, given the vitriol directed at Anthony. After the verdict, anger spilled onto social networks like Facebook and Twitter from people who had spent weeks watching the trial on local and cable television networks. The cable network HLN, featuring former prosecutor and outspoken Anthony critic Nancy Grace, has drawn some of its highest ratings with nonstop coverage of the case.

On Friday, Anthony's legal team said it had received an emailed death threat with a manipulated photo showing their 25-year-old client with a bullet hole in her forehead. It has been forwarded to authorities. Officials had said earlier this week that they had not received any credible threats, but they did not return a phone call about that email.

In Orlando and elsewhere, many remain convinced Anthony isn't totally innocent. David Waechter recorded the trial and watched it at home with his wife every day after work. He said Anthony was guilty of "something, for sure."

"I'm perplexed. You know there is something there, but you don't know what," he said. "Yet she is getting out."

Others who have witnessed Anthony's saga with front-row seats said they were ready for the media attention to die down.

"Most people I talk to, they're done with it," Mandy Williams, a 38-year-old county parks employee, said outside a busy grocery story. "When it came out she was not guilty, people were ticked off."

Steven Klosterman, who owns a property management company, said if Anthony were to stay in Orlando, "I think she'll wind up like her daughter," given the threats she has received.

"Good luck to her," said Klosterman, 43. "She's going to have a hard time."

Security experts have said Anthony will need to hole up inside a safe house protected by bodyguards, perhaps for weeks, in case someone tries to make good on one of those threats. Ideally, several SUVs with tinted windows will pull up to the jail to whisk her away, probably in the middle of the night, experts said. Jail officials have not disclosed when she will be released.

Exactly where she will go also remains unclear. It's unlikely she'll return to the home she once shared with her parents, as the trial left her family fractured. Defense attorney Jose Baez argued during the trial that Caylee accidentally drowned in the family pool and that Casey Anthony's father, George, covered it up to make it look like a homicide. Baez also argued that George Anthony molested his daughter when she was a child -- which resulted in psychological issues that caused her to lie and act without apparent remorse after Caylee went missing. George Anthony vehemently denied the allegations, and no witnesses were called to support the claims.

"Most of the time you can always go home, but she doesn't have that option," said Daniel Meachum, an Atlanta lawyer who has represented football star Michael Vick and actor Wesley Snipes. "Baez has to have somewhere for her to go for her to get herself together."

Casey Anthony was convicted of telling detectives several lies in July 2008, when Caylee's disappearance was reported. She said that Caylee had been kidnapped by a nonexistent nanny, among other things.

Caylee's remains were found that December in woods near the Anthony family home.

While defense attorneys argued that Caylee's death was an accident, prosecutors alleged that Anthony suffocated her daughter with duct tape because motherhood interfered with her desire for a carefree life of partying with friends and spending time with her boyfriend. Jurors have told various media outlets that prosecutors didn't prove their case beyond a reasonable doubt as required for a conviction -- although some have added that they don't think Anthony is completely innocent.

Were these computer records available for the jury? I don't believe they were, I didn't miss much of the trial. If not I wonder why they were not in evidence. One comment the jurors kept making was that there was no evidence she was anything but a great mother. 🇳🇴

I too am sick, I don't think I can watch her being released.

Normal After release, what will Casey Anthony do?

Post by Wrapitup on Sat Jul 16, 2011 11:07 pm

By Anthony Colarossi and Amy Pavuk, Orlando Sentinel

11:16 p.m. EDT, July 16, 2011

Let's say you're one of the most reviled public figures in modern history, branded a liar worldwide and, despite an acquittal, still widely suspected to be responsible for your young daughter's death.

Let's say you're Casey Anthony. What do you do now upon your release from jail, after nearly three years spent isolated, but also insulated, in a supersecure and safe environment?

"How can she go about living a regular life?" asked University of Florida journalism master lecturer Mike Foley, who only half-jokingly said he and a colleague discussed that Casey Anthony might consider moving to another country and having plastic surgery.

After all, who doesn't know that face? And who doesn't associate it with the phrase "Caylee's lying mom"?

Terence Lenamon, a South Florida criminal-defense attorney who worked on Casey Anthony's defense early on, said the young woman should initially get away from the media glare and seek counseling.

"I think it's important that she needs to take a step out of the limelight and heal some of the wounds developed over years within herself and her family," Lenamon said. "My advice to her would be to go underground and get away from everything."

You may choose to believe Casey Anthony's story or not, but a few facts remain beyond dispute: Her daughter, Caylee, is dead. And her defense accused her father, George, of sexually abusing Casey and covering up Caylee's accidental drowning — claims never proved.

Along the way, her brother, Lee, was also accused of molestation, and her mother, Cindy, suspected of perjuring herself to save Casey Anthony.

And in the end, Casey Anthony, 25, avoided the most serious charges filed against her, including first-degree murder in the 2008 death of her daughter. She was found guilty of four counts of lying to law enforcement in the aftermath of her daughter's disappearance, misdemeanor offenses.

Casey Anthony is scheduled to be released today, and many think it would happen in the hours just after midnight. By now, she already may be free.

"Who knows what happens next?" asked Lenamon, while noting that the Casey Anthony story was "Hollywood in the making" from the start.

With her not-guilty verdicts and the continued media fascination with her life, in a sense, Casey's story is just beginning. Soon, the question will be: How does it end?

Does Casey Anthony get the counseling she may need? Does she sell her story to the highest bidder? Can she have some sort of normal existence?

Or does her narrative end like those of other celebrities or celebrity types who seek escape with alcohol or drugs or groupies posing as friends?

"The story can go so many different ways," Lenamon said. "I hope the people advising her are there for her and really care for her. … She's lost everything, and she's got to live with that. No matter how many dollars and cents come into her world. She's lost everything."

As of Friday, Casey Anthony had $529.18 available in her jail account, hardly the type of funds a young adult would need to reacclimate to the world. But many agree she stands to make money — and lots of it — by telling some version of her story.

Like many others, Gloria Allred, the California attorney who often represents high-profile clients, acknowledged that people will be ready to pay Anthony for her story. She suggests, however, that Anthony wait before cashing in.

"I think she needs to take a lot of time to really come to terms with herself, with what happened," Allred said. "This case was so high-profile that I don't think she necessarily has to make a deal right now. But probably for her, it's better for attorneys to make that deal sooner rather than later."

Allred also suggested that Casey Anthony go to a residential-treatment center after her release.

"She's in an extremely unusual and dangerous situation," Allred said. "She appears to need long-term counseling. She may even benefit from residential live-in, intensive therapy."

Casey Anthony, Allred said, likely needs to work through her history of lying and other personal issues. She suggests that treatment be outside Florida and at a secure location.

"I do think that she needs to just take a period of time and not be out there. I don't think she should be out in the grocery store. People will come up to her," Allred said, noting that their words may not be kind. "I don't think she's up to dealing with that."

Lori Booker, CEO and founder of CBR Public Relations and an expert in crisis communications, was hesitant to speak specifically about Casey Anthony's future, but she observed that "pseudo" or "accidental" celebrities often have difficulties dealing with their notoriety.

They often "burn out faster than a meteor."

Booker's advice for the newly freed notorious: "Surround yourself with trusted advisers who aren't looking to get famous with you. The smart ones surround themselves with security. The smart ones don't tweet and don't say where they're going to be next."

It rarely ends well for the celebrity or pseudocelebrity who becomes "a pawn for others to make money" off of, Booker explained. When they stop making news for the tabloids, she said, they risk becoming trivia answers on game shows — in other words, irrelevant.

Remember Joey Buttafuoco and his teenage mistress, Amy Fisher?

"Most pseudocelebrities, because they didn't plan or orchestrate their rise to stardom, don't know how to stay there," Booker said.
