More than 20 satellite trucks parked outside the Orange County Jail tonight to relay Casey Anthony’s release to the world.

But the media were counting on three journalists for the inside story as the crowd outside the jail grew through the night. The three journalists were taken into the jail shortly after 10 p.m.

At midnight, local stations studied the jail’s front door, talked to protesters or offered aerial views of the jail.

At 12:09 a.m., Anthony, in a pink shirt, walked out the front door. Defense attorney Jose Baez was with her, and viewers could hear protesters screaming at Anthony.

She climbed into an SUV with Baez. The stations’ choppers followed the vehicle as it drove through downtown Orlando. They were headed to defense attorney Cheney Mason’s office. The team at WFTV-Channel 9 speculated that they were switching vehicles. WOFL-Channel 35’s Holly Bristow reported that Mason had said the defense team wanted to get Anthony on a plane and out of town.

WKMG-Channel 6 anchor Lauren Rowe noted that Anthony was released like any other inmate. “We thought she would get such preferential treatment because of the security risk,” Rowe said. There has been wide public outrage at Anthony’s acquittal of first-degree murder in the death of her daughter, Caylee.

The stations’ choppers later followed a vehicle, although anchors noted they couldn’t guarantee Anthony was in it. The speculation: She was headed to Orlando Executive Airport.

How to record Anthony’s release? More than 500 credentialed members of the media proposed that those journalists observe and record Anthony’s release, said Dave Sirak, news operation manager at WFTV. He was also chairman of the media pool on the Anthony trial coverage.

“We realized coverage of her release could be a large media event,” Sirak said. “We proposed to the jail we be able to embed three journalists to be able to capture the shots, but we wouldn’t overburden jail with distractions.”

But WKMG-Channel 6’s Mike DeForest stressed there was no guarantee the embedded journalists would get any material.

The three were Matt Sedensky, reporter for The Associated Press; Tony Zumbado, video photographer for NBC News; and Red Huber, photographer for the Orlando Sentinel.

Robin Smythe, general manager of Central Florida News 13, said the pool was a rational and managed way to cover the event. “Of all the things to come out of the last two months, one of the best is how the media are communicating with law enforcement and the courts,” Smythe said. “Viewers will have more access to the event because of it.”

Bob Jordan, news director at WFTV-Channel 9, said: “I ordinarily am not a fan of pools, but we have a significant public safety concern. Nobody wants anything to happen to Casey Anthony. We want her released safely. The media can play a role in ensuring her release is safe, and conducted with out incident. We want this to be as free of drama as possible.”

Under the arrangement, the three sequestered journalists didn’t have access to any form of electronic transmission in the jail. The three were not released until the jail sent out a notice that Anthony was no longer an inmate.

At that point, the journalists could come to a staging area where their pictures and footage would be distributed. If the jail wanted to delay notice of Anthony’s release, the jail could do so, Sirak said.

Jose Baez couldnt pay a lot of the bills for this case - how is he affording a private plane? They are saying it might have to do with Todd Macaluso her that big crook who I think was disbarred in California - he also has a pilots license and one of the planes is owned by a company that has some connection to Macaluso.

She is jumping for joy but its only temporary. She really has no where to go and no one to go to who wont be looking to cash in on her. Her brother will get married and her family will all be together but she wont be there. I know a lot of people think Cindy wants her back, but I dont think so. She might want a relationship with Casey but she doesnt want her back at least thats what I think. Casey Anthony is not famous - she is infamous theres a big difference.
