The father of an Atlanta woman missing since the day after Christmas confirmed Thursday that police have found her car.

Anthony English last spoke to his daughter, 36-year-old Stacey English, by phone around noon on December 26. She had cooked a full holiday meal for the family on Christmas and she asked him what he thought of her food. He did not notice any stress in her voice during the call.

According to WXIA, Stacey’s keys, phone and iPad were found at her Buckhead home after she disappeared. While police have said there are no signs of foul play yet, family members say she would not have left those items behind.

WSB-TV reported Thursday that Stacey’s Volvo was found abandoned in southwest Atlanta on December 27.

English said his daughter had an argument with a male friend from St. Louis around 10 or 10:30 p.m. on December 26. Police told WXIA that they have spoken to that man but did not obtain any new information about what happened to her.

According to English, police have sought surveillance camera video from Stacey’s condominium complex, information about her bank activity and credit cards and records from the hotel where her friend supposedly stayed after the argument.

ATLANTA -- A white Volvo S-80 belonging to a Buckhead woman missing since Christmas was found Wednesday.

Atlanta Police say an officer impounded the car December 27, the night 36-year-old Stacey English disappeared.  The car was found in the Lakewood area of southeast Atlanta.  It was abandoned with its engine running.

Police ordered the car towed to an impound lot.  English's family reported her missing December 31, police say.  When police launched their missing-person case January 1, they searched their impound lots for the car, but the search failed to produce the vehicle.  Another search Wednesday yielded the discovery of the car.

Maj. Keith Meadows told a news conference "we haven't come across any forensic evidence within that vehicle to suggest that Miss English has met with foul play."  But he said police were "concerned" about the "suspicious circumstances" of her disappearance.

Police say a person of interest has cooperated with the investigation, a man who last saw English following an argument.  Police say he left her apartment and called a cab.  A security guard reported seeing him leave.  The unidentified man lives in St. Louis and is described by friends as somebody in whom English had a possible romantic interest.

Meanwhile, English's family continues to wait and worry about the fate of their daughter.  Her stepfather and mother attended a police news conference Thursday. They were visibly shaken by word that the missing car had been in the possession of the police department since her disappearance.

The missing woman left behind her keys, phone and iPad -- things her parents say she would never forget.

Stepfather Kevin Jamison said "our daughter... would not go for a length of time without communications with her mother, friends.  It is totally out of the ordinary."

Cindy and Kevin Jamison have mounted what they call their own "task force" to supplement the Atlanta Police investigation into the disappearance of their daughter. Friends and family will pass out fliers to try and generate more leads in the case Thursday.

"We're using the media, the news, Facebook, the Internet, emails," said Cindy Jamison, English's mother. "We're all acting as foot soldiers to get the word out in order to bring our daughter safely home."

"We've canvassed the area and we're going to make sure we turn over every stone that needs to be turned over until our daughter is returned to us safely," added Kevin Jamison, English's stepfather.

Police say there are no signs of foul play or any evidence of violence in English's disappearance.  However, they are investigating her case as they would a missing person's and have issued an all-points bulletin to other police agencies.

"Phone record are pointing that a person of interest was with her on the last recorded date of knowledge which was Monday, December 26, 10:30 or 10:40," said Kevin Jamison.

Police say they have talked to that person, but the lead did not produce any additional information pointing to English's whereabouts.

Police ID ‘person of interest' in case of missing Buckhead woman

Atlanta police on Thursday named a St. Louis man a "person of interest" in the case of a missing Buckhead woman but stopped short of saying foul play was involved in Stacey Nicole English's disappearance.

"He's extremely important to this investigation," said APD Maj. Keith Meadows, head of the department's major crimes unit. "As far as we know, he's the last person to see her."

Charlie Garnett-Benson, a friend of English's, identified the St. Louis man as Robert Kirk. He was supposed to be staying with English, 36, the night she disappeared, according to Garnett-Benson.

Kirk told the missing woman's parents that he had fought with English on the evening of Dec. 26, compelling her to kick him out of her Lenox Road condominium, Garnett-Benson said.

Meadows said a security guard told police that Kirk had approached him that night, looking to hail a cab.

The next day, English's 2006 Volvo S60 was found abandoned, its engine running, near Lakewood Amphitheatre.

"This is a missing persons investigation," said Meadows, though he acknowledged "circumstances that rise to a suspicious nature."

For one, English, an instructional designer with SunTrust Bank, left her cellphone, keys and purse in her condo.

"Our daughter is not the type of person who would go this length of time without communicating," said English's stepfather, Kevin Jamison. "This is totally out of the ordinary."

Friends of the Fayette County High School graduate said she met Kirk though a mutual acquaintance.

Though Kirk lives in Missouri, he has several friends in the Atlanta area, Garnett-Benson said.

English had only good things to say about Kirk, say those who knew her.

Atlanta police, meanwhile, say they've enlisted the help of the FBI for any out-of-town interviews that may be necessary.

Questions abound in weeks-long search for Atlanta woman

Atlanta (CNN) -- Authorities expanded their search Friday for a 36-year-old Atlanta woman who was last heard from around Christmas and whose car was later found abandoned and running, according to police.
No arrests have been made in the case of Stacey Nicole English, and there are no named suspects in her disappearance.
Atlanta police spokesman Carlos Campos told CNN on Friday that authorities want to speak again with Robert Kirk, a St. Louis resident who earlier told police that he had stayed with English between December 24 and 26 in her residence in the Buckhead section of Atlanta.
According to a police report, Kirk previously told investigators that English was "acting peculiar and out of character" during his stay, adding that "she began screaming in the apartment and shouting biblical scriptures and indicating that the world was coming to an end." He said that he left around 10:30 p.m. on December 26, after English "began asking him if he was Satan" and told him to leave "her residence immediately."
A friend of the 36-year-old woman, Michelle Strothers, told police that she last saw English on that day or the next one. In an interview with police on New Year's Eve, Strothers said that her friend "appeared upset" and told her "she felt as if someone was attempting to hurt her."
"She also stated that Ms. English was acting out of character, and began discussing the end of the world and quoting biblical scriptures," said the police report.
On Friday, search-and-rescue dogs joined mounted Atlanta police officers to comb part of south Atlanta, near the Aarons Amphitheatre at Lakewood, which sits in a fairground area, according to a police statement. English's car -- a white, 2006 Volvo -- had been earlier found in that area with its engine still running.
"We have no new updates to provide other than" the enhanced search effort, Campos said Friday by e-mail. "Investigators continue to pursue leads and work the case."
Earlier, English's mother and stepfather told police that they typically talked with her "several times a week" and became worried after she did not answer their calls since they last talked with her on Christmas. They eventually used a spare key to enter her apartment, where they saw "no sign of English," the police report said.
In the apartment were English's iPad, cell phone and key fob allowing her entry to her apartment complex, all of which her parents said the woman always took with her.
The mother, Cynthia Jamison, said that English "was currently taking medication" and had attempted suicide by overdose a little more than two years ago, according to police.

ATL Family Says Police Doing Little To Find Missing Daughter

The parents of Stacey Nicole English desperately need your help with locating their daughter, the Huffington Post reports.

English, a native of Georgia, was last seen in her Buckhead neighborhood in Atlanta. She has been missing since December 27. The last person to see her alive, according to the article, was an out-of-town friend from Missouri who has since returned home.

Here are some more details on English’s disappearance:

Following a Christmas gathering at her grandmother’s, English went to her home in the exclusive Vanderbilt complex on Lenox Road in Buckhead. According to English’s father, a male friend from Missouri was visiting with her but the two allegedly got into an argument.
“The gentleman said they got into a dispute and she put him out of her house on Dec. 26 around 10:30 p.m.,” Jamison said. “That person has now gone back to Missouri. He is the last person that we know of who saw her.”
English’s disappearance was reported to police on Dec. 27. Her cellphone, iPad and the device that opens the gate to her condominium complex were found inside her home. English’s vehicle, a white, four-door 2006 Volvo S60 with Georgia tag BPR-4324, is missing.
English is employed by SunTrust Bank as an instructional designer. She was supposed to return to work on Jan. 3, but did not show up or call in.
The Atlanta Police Department does not suspect foul play at this time, according to Sgt. Curtis Davenport. But English’s family is not pleased with how the police are handling the case:

In regard to whether searches are being conducted, Davenport said, “Not right at this second. I don’t know at this particular moment what the detectives have planned.”
Asked what, if anything, authorities have done to locate English, Davenport told HuffPost, “We have disseminated flyers to all the local media.”
Jamison said his family is upset authorities are not doing more to locate his daughter.
“Atlanta police have put so many inaccuracies out there and have had so many things wrong in their report,” he said. “She did not drive off. This is very out of character. She talks to her family and friends two or three times a day and no one has had any contact with her.”

Person of interest speaks about missing Buckhead woman case


ATLANTA — The man who has been named a person of interest in the disappearance of a Buckhead woman says he does not know what is going on.

Robert Kirk said he was visiting Stacey English, 36, over the holidays when the two got into an argument on Dec. 26 and she told him to leave. He returned to St. Louis, but Atlanta police said he was the last person to see English and they named him as a person of interest on Thursday.

Kirk spoke to Channel 2 Action News reporter Erin Coleman over the phone on Friday.

“(I) heard about the reports and it sent a tingle through me,” Kirk said.

Kirk said he is praying for English’s safety and that the situation is “crazy.”

“I don’t know what’s going on,” Kirk said.

Meanwhile, police intensified their search for English on Friday, using police recruits, mounted officers and K-9 teams to canvass an area in southwest Atlanta near where her car was found.

According to the police report, English was acting out of character and talking about the end of the world in the days leading up to her disappearance. She was hospitalized after attempting suicide in 2008, the report said.

English’s mother and stepfather reported her missing on Dec. 31 after not hearing from her for nearly a week.

Her parents are pleading with the public for any information about English’s disappearance.

English worked at Sun Trust Bank and lived at a condo off Lenox Road in Buckhead. In her apartment, she left behind her cellphone, iPad and keys. Her Volvo was found running at a community center in southwest Atlanta on Dec. 27 and taken to an impound lot, but police just put together that it was English’s car on Thursday.

St. Louis (KSDK) - Police have officially cleared a local man as a person of interest in the disappearance of a young Atlanta woman.

Stacey English, 36, disappeared shortly after Christmas. The only sign left behind was her running car.

Investigators say St. Louis event promoter Robert Kirk may have been the last person to see her.

Kirks says he was visiting English at the time, but left following an argument. He spoke to investigators and gave them a detailed timeline of his whereabouts.

"To be cleared is great. It's a fantastic, phenomenal feeling, but she's still not found, and if she is and its negative, I'm sure there's still going to be some things I am going to have to deal with on my end," said Kirk.

The police report outlines what friends believe was unusual behavior from English in the hours before her disappearance. They told officers she was screaming like someone was going to hurt her and shouting biblical scriptures.

The Fulton County Medical Examiner's Office said an autopsy of the body found in southeast Atlanta Monday is likely to be concluded Tuesday afternoon, ending an agonizing wait for the family of Stacey Nicole English.

The Buckhead woman's Volvo S260 was discovered, with the engine running, less than a mile away from the wooded area where two mean searching for scrap metal located a deceased African-American woman's body. There has been no confirmation the body is that of English, 36, who was reported missing by family members on Dec. 31.

Atlanta police spokesman Carlos Campos said authorities received a 911 call about the discovery shortly before 3 p.m. Monday. It was located off St. Johns Avenue near Aaron’s Amphitheater at Lakewood.

The body was “in an advanced state of decomposition,” Campos said.

An investigator with the Fulton County Medical Examiner's Office told the AJC late Tuesday morning the autopsy is underway and will likely be completed by mid-afternoon.

English's family was notified of the discovery.

“If this is not her, I have to still be sad because it’s someone else’s child," said Bernice English Hurks, who identified herself as English's aunt. She spoke with police and then talked to reporters not far from where the woman's body was discovered.

She would not speculate on the identity of the body.

“I can’t base my emotions on what I think," English Hurks said. The hardest thing now, she said, “is not knowing.”

When contacted by the AJC Monday afternoon, English’s stepfather, Keith Jamison, declined comment.

Atlanta police, with the assistance of Georgia State Patrol dive teams, had conducted massive searches of the area around Lakewood Fairgrounds in recent weeks but turned up no sign of English.

Monday, Campos could not say if police had canvassed St. Johns Avenue on Jan. 6, when K-9 units and officers on horseback combed the area.

Robert Kirk, of St. Louis, was the last person known to have seen English. He told detectives the woman began “acting peculiar” the night of Dec. 26, asking him if he was Satan. She told him to leave her apartment and Kirk told police he did, checking into a hotel, according to the incident report.

Police said there is no evidence linking Kirk to English’s disappearance.

Investigators have said there also was nothing to indicate English met with foul play, though they acknowledged “suspicious circumstances” in her disappearance.

According to the incident report, English’s mother, Cindy Jamison, told investigators her daughter, a Fayette County High School graduate, had attempted suicide nearly three years ago and said she was taking an undisclosed medication.

“We don’t know if she may have taken something else that caused bad reaction, but the prescription was for something that has nothing to do with any mental illness,” Charlie Garnett-Benson, a longtime friend of the missing woman, told the AJC earlier this month.

The family had hired a private investigator to assist in the search, which up to now has turned up few leads.

On Monday, Jan. 23, 2012 at approximately 3 p.m., Atlanta firefighters were notified that a female body had been discovered beneath a tree on St. John's Ave., according to the AJC.

Channel 2 Action News reported that the woman was a black female and a neighbor in the community named Brandy Farmer said the woman was

"buried face down with her feet in the air."

Less than a mile from where this female body has been found--in a library parking lot, near Aaron's Amphitheatre--the Volvo of a missing 36-year-old woman named Stacey Nicole English was found on Dec. 27.

English' mother and stepfather have made public appeals for help in locating their adult loved one, who was last seen on Dec. 26 by a male friend visiting English at her condo. Her family reported her missing on Dec. 31, according to the AJC.

Police have interviewed the out-of-town male friend, who recounted odd behavior on the part of Ms. English. Law enforcement also recently sent down 14 divers into the nearby lake in an effort to locate the missing woman, but to no avail.

As of Monday evening, police have not identified the deceased woman found. And while Ms. English's parents would gain some measure of closure through the location of her body, it is undoubtedly not the news they wish to hear if it does turn out the woman found is their missing loved one.

People searching for scrap metal Monday afternoon in southeast Atlanta found a woman’s body that appeared to have been left beneath a fallen tree, witnesses said.

“It looks like [the body] might’ve been stuffed there,” according to Warren Blackman, an area resident.

Atlanta Fire and Rescue spokesman Capt. Jolyon Bundridge said firefighters were notified of the body just before 3 p.m.

The body was discovered on St. Johns Ave., just off of Pryor Street near the Aaron’s Amphitheater at Lakewood.

Homicide detectives are evaluating the situation, Lt. Paul Guerrucci told the AJC.

A neighbor identified as Brandy Farmer said paramedics said the body was that of a black female wearing khaki pants.

Police have not identified the body yet but family members of Stacey English have arrived in the area.

The Buckhead woman was last seen the day after Christmas. Searchers found English’s car abandoned at Lakewood earlier this month, less than a mile from where the body was found.

Autopsy results expected soon after body found

ATLANTA (AP) - Authorities say results of an autopsy are expected as early as Tuesday as police investigate the death of a woman whose body was found underneath a fallen tree in southeast Atlanta.

The body was discovered Monday afternoon near where police found the abandoned car of an Atlanta woman who went missing the day after Christmas. People searching for scrap metal found the body.

Authorities have been looking for 36-year-old Stacey Nicole English since she was reported missing Dec. 31. Her car was found with the engine running about a mile from where the body was discovered.

Campos said police have made no connections between the two cases but notified English's family about the body because of the proximity to where her car was found.

Stacey English update: Body found "consistent" with missing Georgia woman

CBS/WGCL) ATLANTA - A body was discovered Monday afternoon that may be the remains of Atlanta woman Stacey English, who has been missing for nearly a month.
Some men looking for scrap metal discovered the remains under a fallen tree in southeast Atlanta at about 3 p.m. yestrday, reports CBS Atlanta.

According to Chief Medical Examiner Dr. Randy Hanzlick, the body was consistent in age with English. However, as of Tuesday morning, the autopsy had not been completed, and a positive identification had not yet been made.

Members of English's family rushed to the scene Monday where the body was discovered, but authorities would not let them view it, CBS Atlanta reports.

"If this is not her, I have to still be sad because it's someone else's child," Bernice Hurks, English's aunt, reportedly said. "If this is her, it's the best thing we could do right now is to find her, regardless of what the circumstances and conditions are."

It's unclear if the deceased woman was killed by the fallen tree, or if the tree fell on the body after her death.

According to the Atlantic Journal-Constitution, English's vehicle was discovered on Dec. 27, with the engine still running, less than a mile away from the wooded area where the body was discovered.

According to her family, English was last seen in her home on Lenox Road on or around Christmas Day.

I know. That poor family of her's. I'm not convinced she was murdered thou' until a ME says so. She sounded a bit mentally unbalanced plus she had tried to kill herself at least once before. How horrible either way for this family.

The initial autopsy of English's body did not reveal a cause of death, the Fulton County Medical Examiner's Office said Wednesday. No signs of trauma were found, Turner said, but that doesn't mean police have ruled out the possibility she met with foul play.

English's body, discovered Monday in the divot of an uprooted tree off St. Johns Avenue near Lakewood Fairgrounds, was in an advanced state of decomposition. Nearly a month earlier, her Volvo S260 had been found, with the engine running, less than a mile away.

Police conducted several searches of the surrounding area after English was reported missing Dec. 31, Turner said. On Jan. 6, K-9 units and officers on horseback were dispatched for the largest coordinated search for the woman but turned up no evidence.

"I cannot say for sure that we searched that particular area," Turner said.

According to the man known to have last seen English alive, the woman, a SunTrust bank employee, was "acting peculiar" on Dec. 26, the night of her disappearance.

Robert Kirk, visiting from St. Louis, told police English asked him if he was Satan before asking him to leave her Lenox Road condominium.

An Atlanta police spokesman said recently there was no evidence linking Kirk to English's disappearance.

According to the incident report, English told another friend, Michelle Strothers, she felt as if someone was trying to hurt her, citing Biblical passages and "discussing the end of the world." Strothers considered English's behavior that day out of character, the report states.

English was taking an undisclosed medication at the time of her disappearance. Her mother, Cindy Jamison, told police her daughter had attempted suicide nearly three years earlier.

In an interview with the AJC on Jan. 6, Jamison said that she had talked to her daughter by phone on Dec. 25, and that she was "very jovial" and in good spirits. English's stepfather, Keith Jamison, said English had razzed him about the outcome of an NBA game played that day.

"Theories ... obviously people have those but we want the facts to lead this investigation," Turner said Wednesday. "We continue to pursue all the leads that we get."

Police would not go into specifics of what they do know, such as whether English's body was clothed when she was discovered Monday by two men searching for scrap metal.

"I think it's important we go back and try to develop the timeline ... from the time Miss English went missing to the time we discovered her body," said Atlanta Police Maj. Keith Meadows. "There are some gaps in the timeline, and that's what we're asking the public to help us with."

Definitive answers, however, await the conclusion of the autopsy. That could take up to a month, according to Mark Guilbeau, an investigator with the medical examiner's office.

"It's been exhausting, and it's going to continue to be," Meadows said Wednesday. "Even though we're tired, we're going to continue to work this case as vigorously as we have."

Family believes Stacey English was victim of foul play
The discovery of a missing Buckhead woman's body has given her mother and stepfather some closure, the couple said Thursday.
The Jamison's believe English, whose body was found earlier this week, was the victim of foul play.

But now, they want to know what led to the death of Stacey Nicole English.

"There's no doubt in my mind that there had to be some foul play," Cindy Jamison, English's mother, said in her Clayton County home.

Jamison, her husband Kevin and the family's attorney, Ricky Morris, met with reporters Thursday, one day after the Fulton County Medical Examiner's Office said the 36-year-old's cause of death could not be determined in the initial autopsy.

It could be several weeks before the results of additional testing are released.

Atlanta police have said there is no evidence linking Kirk to English's disappearance and death.

In a news conference Wednesday afternoon, Atlanta Police Chief George Turner said officers have not ruled out the possibility of foul play and will continue to investigate the death.

The Jamisons have hired a private investigator. They said they would continue to cooperate fully with the police investigation.

According to documents previously released by police, English's mother told investigators her daughter had attempted suicide nearly three years ago.

But family members and their attorney insisted Thursday that they believe the woman did not try to harm herself.

Morris said he knew English personally, and that she would have never willingly gone to the part of town where her car and body were found.

"There's no way on God's green Earth that something happened of her own doing," Morris said. "This should be treated as a homicide. Stacey's killer or killers need to be brought to justice swiftly."

The Jamisons said they are planning to have a homegoing celebration honoring English on Feb. 4. The details have not yet been made final.

Stacey English disappeared just days after Christmas, and it took Atlanta authorities more than a month to find the 36-year-old woman's body -- in a heavily wooded area just one mile from where police recovered her abandoned, but still running car.

The Fulton County Medical Examiner is now saying that an autopsy, made publicly available today, indicates death was accidental.

An examination did not reveal any sign of injury or fatal disease, and toxicology tests showed no evidence of a drug overdose.

"The most likely cause of Stacey English's death is cold exposure (hypothermia) complicating underlying neurological and psychiatric disorders," reads a press release from the medical examiner.

"Because cold exposure is an external, environmental condition, the manner of death has been classified as accident," the release continued.

As a result of the findings of the medical examiner's office, Atlanta police are closing the investigation.

"The Atlanta Police Department will be closing the case into the death of Ms. Stacey Nicole English. There will be no further statements issued in relation to this case and we will not be conducting interviews," Carlos Campos, the Public Affairs Manager for the Atlanta Police Department, wrote in an email.

Atlanta police announced on Jan. 23 that English's decomposing body was found under a tree in a heavily wooded area near the Aaron's Amphitheater at Lakewood. The location is roughly one mile from the spot where police found English's car abandoned, but still running, on Dec. 27.

English was reported missing by relatives on Dec. 27. Her cellphone, iPad and the device that opens the gate to her condominium complex were found inside her home. English's vehicle, a white, four-door 2006 Volvo S60 was missing.

The investigation and conclusions by the medical examiner have been peer reviewed by all six medical examiners in the Fulton County Medical Examiner's office. The agency said they will not be give interviews to the media.

English's family has yet to comment on the latest development in the case.

During previous interviews with the media, English's mother and stepfather, Cindy and Kevin Jamieson, said they were convinced she was murdered.

"There is no doubt in my mind that there had to be some type of foul play involved," Cindy Jamison told local news channel WSB-TV. "The way that she was found and where she was found ... We [want] to make sure that no one gets tired at this point -- it's only beginning, there is a lot more work to do."

The medical examiner's office said they will review the investigation again, "if further information becomes available which could impact on [the] cause or manner of death classification."

I don't buy it. Why would her cell be at home? Wouldn't she have turned on the heater? Something is Very amiss in this case and if I were a family member, I'd be raising holy hell!!

I am wondering if LE is NOT doing their job because of English's race. I hate to say that but really...if this were some high profile person, guaranteed they wouldn't be closing the case. I feel for her family and HOPE they raise all kinds of hell!!
