Talk about one for the road.
The Winnipeg Free Press reports that authorities found a 30-year-old woman who, after being shot in the eye, refused to accept any medical treatment until after she finished her beer.
"It was like she was oblivious to what had happened," one source told the Free Press. "She didn't want any treatment until after she finished her beer."
Though the woman survived the incident, the woman's friend, 46-year-old Michael Warren Sinclair, was shot dead.
According to a neighbor who spoke with the Winnipeg Sun, the home in which the shooting took place was a hotbed for illegal activity.
"There's always troubles down there," the resident, who did not want to be identified, told the paper. "Cars are coming and going like G*d damn flies down there. It's been like that for years."
The news comes one day after a woman bodybuilder from Nevada miraculously survived being shot in the head during a carjacking.

Re: Woman Shot in the Eye Finishes Her Beer Before Going to Hospital ~ the woman's friend, 46-year-old Michael Warren Sinclair, was shot dead.
A Winnipeg woman who was shot through the eye remained "oblivious" to her injury and her friend's dead body beside her and instead concentrated on finishing her beer, a source says.
Justice sources say it was nothing short of a miracle the 30-year-old woman didn't become the city's 40th homicide victim of 2011. Police and paramedics arrived inside the Winnipeg home in the early hours of Dec. 31 to find the woman calmly sitting in a chair.
"It was like she was oblivious to what had happened. She didn't want any treatment until after she finished her beer," a source told the Winnipeg Free Press. The woman was severely impaired, either by drugs or alcohol or both, and seemed to be showing no discomfort despite the obvious injury she suffered. There were as many as 10 other people in the home, also in various states of impairment.
"Its going to take a considerable amount of time to speak to those individuals," police spokeswoman Const. Natalie Aitken said last weekend.
The body of 46-year-old Michael Warren Sinclair was found inside the same room. He was pronounced dead at hospital. Police have made no arrests in what was the 39th, and final, homicide of a record-setting year. Winnipeg's previous high was 34 homicides.
Sources say the woman remains in hospital for her injuries but is listed in stable condition.
They point to her as a classic example of how many other "close calls" there were last year, where either quick medical help or divine intervention saved the body count from going even higher.
Neighbours said the two-storey house was known as a gathering place for drug users and partiers.

I know of some peeps where the beer comes first..no matter what. Wouldn't matter if they were shot or a dead person was right beside them. Mind boggling!!!

Her choosing beer over medical care received more press than the man who was shot dead beside her.
