Dylan Redwine.
DENVER — Dylan Redwine went to visit his dad for Thanksgiving – not because he wanted to but because a court ordered it as part of his parents' divorce. Then the 13-year-old boy vanished.
More than a week later, police are searching Colorado reservoirs and neighborhoods but still don't know what happened to the boy.
Dylan's father picked him up on Nov. 18 at Durango-La Plata County Airport. The boy announced his arrival in Vallecito in a text message that ended with a scowling emoticon, said Elaine Redwine, his mother.
The next day, while his father ran an errand, he disappeared after setting off to meet friends in the secluded vacation spot high in the mountains near Durango.
Authorities don't believe Dylan ran away. They say he has a cellphone and has not contacted any of his friends in nearby Bayfield, where he previously went to school.
On Thursday, authorities served a search warrant at the father's home.
According to the Durango Herald ( ), Colorado Bureau of Investigation and the FBI also set up tents and a trailer outside the house. Investigators wearing white scrub-like uniforms made trips in and out of the house and a travel trailer on Thursday. [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]
La Plata County sheriff's spokesman Dan Bender said authorities are focusing on the possibility of foul play but hope that isn't the case.
At this point, they consider their effort to be a search, not a recovery mission, he said. Bender said it was only prudent to search the house and not an indication any suspects have been identified.
"We've been doing a potential criminal investigation, looking at abduction, kidnapping or foul play. We haven't closed out the possibility he has run away and we're still going door to door. We have an absence of clues. It's a mystery, that's what makes it so frustrating," he said.
Bender did not return a phone call from The Associated Press seeking details on the search warrant.
Elaine Redwine told ABC News that she fears Dylan's father, Mark Redwine, might have had a problem with the boy.
"If Dylan maybe did or said something that wasn't what Mark wanted to hear, I'm just afraid of how Mark would have reacted," she said.
Mark Redwine said he didn't want to respond to the fears of his ex-wife.
"I don't want to lash out," he told the Durango Herald.
Police have declined to comment on the suggestion.
The parents did not respond to requests for comment from the AP.
Bender said the parents divorced in 2007, and a court ordered Dylan to live with his mother while granting visitation rights for the father.
Bender refused to comment on the divorce or the suggestion by Elaine Redwine, but said, "If you're the parent of a child and haven't heard from him in several days, that would be difficult for anyone."
Lia Howard, the sister of Elaine Redwine, said the family has told authorities Dylan didn't run away. She also said Dylan wanted to spend Thanksgiving with family members in Castle Rock and was disappointed he had to go to see his father.
Elaine's boyfriend, Mike Hall, who lives with the mother in Colorado Springs, declined to speculate on what might have happened to Dylan.
"I just hope we can get him back," Hall said. "We're very grateful for the support of everyone that's trying to help in that community."
Authorities, including the FBI and Colorado State Police, are using satellites to map neighborhoods and asking the public for any video footage that includes vehicles traveling on main routes between Durango and Vallecito Lake around the time Dylan went missing.
Little has been revealed about the results of the search. A few days ago, there was a spark of hope after part of a fishing pole was found on a dam, prompting a two-day search of the area that turned up empty.
Investigators determined the discovery had no connection to the case after they located the owner of the broken pole.
The missing boy is 5 feet tall, weighs 105 pounds and has blond hair, blue eyes and fair complexion. He was last seen wearing a blue-and-white Duke Blue Devils baseball cap, black Nike T-shirt and black Jordan tennis shoes.

Dylan Redwine Update: Colo. police search home of missing boy's father
By Crimesider Staff Topics Daily Blotter
Dylan Redwine / Dylan Redwine / La Plata County Sheriff
(CBS/AP) DURANGO, Colo. - Authorities are searching the home of Mark Redwine, the father of Dylan Redwine, a 13-year-old boy who went missing Nov. 19 while visiting his father for Thanksgiving.
Police have ruled out the possibility that Dylan ran away but they are still treating the case as a search and not a recovery effort, CBS affiliate KKTV reports. Investigators have not called the boy's father a suspect in the disappearance, but they are searching the home as a precaution since that was the last place Dylan was seen, according to the station.
Dylan was picked up by his father on Nov. 18 at Durango-La Plata County Airport for a court ordered visitation. The boy's mother, Elaine Redwine said Dylan announced his arrival in a text message that ended with a scowling emoticon. The boy's aunt, Lia Howard, said that Dylan had wanted to spend the holiday with other family members and was disappointed he had to go to see his father
Dylan was last seen by his father on the morning of November 19. According to Mark Redwine, Dylan was still at home when Mark left to run some errands at 7:30 a.m., but was gone when Mark returned four hours later, KKTV reports. The station reports that after he searched for the boy himself, Mark called police and notified them Dylan was missing.
According to The Associated Press, Dylan was planning on setting off to meet friends in the area while his father was out. Dylan lived in La Plata County until four months ago when his mother moved to Colorado Springs. The boy's parents got divorced in 2007.
Dylan is 5 feet tall, weighs 105 pounds and has blond hair, blue eyes and fair complexion. He was last seen wearing a blue-and-white Duke Blue Devils baseball cap, black Nike T-shirt and black Jordan tennis shoes.
If anyone has any information related to the disappearance they are encouraged to call a tip line specifically set up for the search for Dylan at 970-382-7511.

Did Dylan Redwine's Father 'Do Something' to Him?
November 27, 2012 05:40 PM EST
Dylan Redwine's mother believes her estranged husband had something to do with his disappearance, claiming that the man didn't treat him very well among other things. She also alleged that he may have "done something" to the 13-year-old as if to assert his ownership over the child as opposed to his mother. It's been well established in the media that the parents of the missing boy are going through a bitter custodial dispute and that Dylan was only visiting his father on court ordered visitation. So for her to accuse the father of the boy of being involved with his disappearance casts a whole new element of negativity over the entire case.
"I don't think Mark treats him very well," says Elaine Redwine, "I would not put it past Mark to have done something to remove Dylan from the situation. You know, like 'if I can't have him, nobody will.'"
This is disturbing quote that deserves attention, but at the same time these could just be the words of a bitter estranged wife who is using her anger during custody disputes to cast blame on the young man's father.
Mark Redwine has declined to speak to the media over the course of his son's disappearance, saying that he is putting his trust in the work of investigators, choosing not to say anything for the time being. Meanwhile, searches for Dylan Redwine have been less-than-successful. Cadaver dogs had caught the boy's scent near the waterline at a pond near Mark Redwine's home. However, extensive searches of the body of water have turned out inconclusive -- and searches for the boy have been suspended.
A task force has been formed by federal agents and police officials. This task force will be canvassing the area surrounding the last known locations in which Dylan was seen. They won't be going door-to-door just yet, but will be thoroughly searching areas, possibly approaching some people. Police have warned the public that if you're approached by a "task force" member, don't be afraid to ask for credentials, but they will most likely be accompanied by an officer.
As for Elaine Redwine's accusations, the sister of Mark Redwine gave a brief statement. She says she doesn't believe her brother or the boy's mother had anything to do with his disappearance, and she believes that deep down in Elaine's heart she doesn't believe so either. Here's to hoping that everyone involved are just grasping out of panic, and something else is responsible for this mysterious case altogether.

I sure hope this boy is OK but it sure doesn't sound good. He wasn't even at his Dad's house twelve hours before he was missing. JMOO.

Investigators end search of house. Police refuse to discuss if anything was found at Mark Redwine’s home
By Jordyn Dahl Herald staff writer Article Last Updated: Friday, November 30, 2012 8:48pm
Investigators concluded their search of the home of Mark Redwine, father of 13-year-old Dylan Redwine, Thursday night after serving a search warrant in the morning.
A tip line has been set up with the La Plata County Sheriff’s Office to collect information about Dylan Redwine, who has been missing since Nov. 19. The line is not answered but collects messages and is checked periodically.
Call 382-7511.
Tips can be left anonymously, but if the caller wants a reply, a callback number is needed.
Also, investigators would like to talk to anyone who was taking photos or shooting videos that show vehicles along the typical routes between Vallecito and Durango from 6 p.m. Nov. 18 to noon Nov. 19. That would include county roads 501 and 240.
Anyone who can supply a copy of his or her photos or videos is asked to call La Plata County dispatch center at 385-2900.
Mark Redwine also agreed to give an official interview to the task force for the case – made up of agents from the La Plata County Sheriff’s Office, Durango Police Department, Bayfield Marshal’s Office, FBI and Colorado Bureau of Investigation – after investigators asked if he would be willing to do an in-depth interview, said Lt. Ray Shupe, spokesman for the task force.
Redwine has given several cursory interviews in the past, but this was the first in-depth interview he has given, Shupe said.
No attorney was present for the interview, and Shupe said Redwine has not retained an attorney.
Redwine has been cooperating with authorities and has not been named a suspect or person of interest, Shupe said.
Authorities say they will not release any information about the interview or what was, or was not, taken from the residence.
The task force concluded its door-to-door canvassing that began Tuesday and has shifted its focus to following up on leads and evidence.
“Until we put together any leads or information that leads us in a certain direction, most work is going to take place internally,” Shupe said.
Volunteers can resume searching the area surrounding Vallecito Reservoir. Authorities earlier this week requested that they stay away for a few days while investigators canvassed the area.
Some volunteers have gone back into the area to search side roads and check any buildings they were not able to get to before authorities requested they stop, local resident Denise Hess said.
A group of people is making ribbons to sell to raise money for a fund to find Dylan, Hess said. The ribbons are blue and black with some white in them – Dylan’s favorite colors. The group has not started selling them and is still deciding how much to sell them for.
Law-enforcement officials have ruled out that Dylan ran away from home.
He was last seen Nov. 19. Authorities also have ruled out the possibility that the teenager wandered into the wilderness and got lost around Vallecito Reservoir.
“Task force members are looking at this investigation as a criminal investigation,” Shupe said in a news release.
Authorities are still requesting any video footage or photos that show vehicles along the typical routes between Vallecito and Durango from 6 p.m. Nov. 18 to noon Nov. 19. The county dispatch center may be contacted at 385-2900.
A telephone tip line has been set up: 382-7511. Calls also can be made to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children at (800) 843-5678.
The footage already received is being analyzed for clues.
Dylan disappeared Nov. 19 while visiting his father during Thanksgiving week as a result of a court order from 6th Judicial District Judge David Dickinson.
Dylan moved to Colorado Springs this summer with his brother, Cory, and mother, Elaine Redwine, who divorced Mark Redwine in 2007.
Elaine Redwine said Dylan texted her when he arrived Nov. 18 at the Durango-La Plata County Airport.
The teenager contacted friends in Bayfield and agreed to meet them in the early morning Nov. 19, but the meeting never took place.
Mark Redwine told investigators that he left the house to do errands at 7:30 a.m. but found Dylan gone when he returned at 11:30 a.m.
He told The Durango Herald on Wednesday he had gone to Durango to meet with his divorce lawyer.

Colorado youth missing two weeks
Published: Dec. 2, 2012 at 12:53 PM
VALLECITO, Colo., Dec. 2 (UPI) -- A Colorado man whose son has been missing for two weeks says he has hired an attorney, and that he suspects his son was hitchhiking when he disappeared.
Mark Redwine told The Denver Post he hired a criminal lawyer to watch his back while he presses the search for his 13-year-old son, Dylan Redwine, who disappeared from the Pine River Valley two weeks ago.
"I just want my son back," Redwine told the Post. "I know it's crossing all our minds -- reality is starting to set in that that may not be a possibility."
Redwine says he believes Dylan may have disappeared while hitchhiking in the rural area where the crime rate is generally low. He said he doubted Dylan ran away and was generally a happy kid despite his parents' seven-year divorce battle.
Dylan had been visiting his dad in Vallecito for Thanksgiving but had planned to return to his nearby hometown to see friends.
"His priority was pretty much with his friends, so I wasn't alarmed," Redwine said, adding Dylan may have been impatient waiting for transportation home and set off on his own.
The Post said law enforcement officers were still searching forests in the area, checking scores of secluded cabins for any sign of the youth.

Did Dylan Redwine's Dad Fail Polygraph?
December 04, 2012 12:25 AM EST
Did Dylan Redwine's father fail a polygraph test? The mother of the missing 13-year-old boy says that the man took the lie detector test and that the results came back inclusive—which evidently means he either failed the poly or threw the test off in some fashion. However, Mark Redwine refused to discuss these details but did say he was surprised by his wife's claims. When refusing to confirm or deny her claims, he said he did not want to get into a public fight with his ex-wife.
So what does all of this mean? If you want answers from officials on the case, you're out of luck, because they also will not confirm or deny whether or not either parent took a polygraph test. However, police still say that Mark is not a suspect in his son's disappearance. So who do you believe, the mother or the police on the case?
As for Dylan Redwine's case, there aren't many updates on which to speculate. Officials are pouring over surveillance footage and other potential evidence in the case, but there aren't really any updates as this case barrels into the third week.

Missing teen’s father says he’s surprised by allegations made by ex-wife in TV interview

DENVER — Two weeks after vanishing without a trace, the search for Dylan Redwine has yet to produce any new leads despite his mother making a desperate plea for help in CNN interview.
Dylan Redwine, who hasn’t been seen since November 19, vanished while visiting his father for the Thanksgiving holiday in Vallecito.
Investigators believe Dylan is not a runaway and could be the victim of an abduction.
His mother appeared on CNN’s “Nancy Grace” Monday night and claimed that she believed a polygraph test taken by her ex-husband, Dylan’s father, came back inclusive.
Investigators will not confirm if either parent has taken a polygraph test, but told FOX31 Denver both parents have been cooperative. Investigators have said numerous times Mark Redwine is not a suspect.
Mark Redwine said he was “surprised” when asked about the CNN interview.
He declined to talk specifics on the investigation because he said he didn’t want to get into a public fight with his estranged wife.
“We have no new leads or new information to report to the public at this time,” said Lt. Ray Shupe, Public Information Officer for the Dylan Redwine Task Force. “We had investigators and analysts working over the weekend on tip analysis and follow-ups.”
Video footage and photographs provided by the community to the Task Force are being analyzed by investigators for clues.
Anyone who may have information on Dylan’s whereabouts are asked to contact La Plata County Sheriff’s Office Investigators Dan Patterson at 970-382-7015 or Tom Cowing at 970-382-7045. You can also the hotline for the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children at 1-800-THE LOST (1-800-843-5678).

I happened to see part of NG last night and the Mom didn't really want to say a lot about the ex. I sure think it's very strange that Dad had zero to do with his son disappearing right after he got there the night before. Could he have ran away when his Dad was gone for four hours, maybe a friend unknown to his Dad or Mom picked him up? This is a strange one.

If his results are inconclusive, my gut reaction is that he killed Dillon as he did not want to pay CS. This is NOT an accusation..just my own speculation. MOO.

No, you would have made a GREAT PI!!!!
The only other scenario is like you said..he ran away. Maybe his father threatened him. His father looks "srappy" to me. IF his poly was inconclusive, that to me speaks Volumes. IF he Refuses to take another one, that Really speaks Volumes.

Police reveal no new leads
Lack of answers disquiets mountain community
By Jordyn Dahl , Shane Benjamin Herald staff writers Article Last Updated: Monday, December 03, 2012 9:44pm
Two weeks after 13-year-old Dylan Redwine went missing in Vallecito, law-enforcement officials said they have few clues as to his disappearance or possible whereabouts.
19. That would include County Road 501 and East Animas Road (County Road 240).
Anyone who can supply a copy of his or her photos or videos is asked to call La Plata County dispatch center at 385-2900.
The search has moved from the wilderness surrounding Vallecito to indoors where investigators can evaluate evidence and follow up on tips and possible sightings, said Lt. Ray Shupe, spokesman for a task force made up of multiple agencies assigned to the case.
“We have no new leads or new information to report to the public at this time,” Shupe said in a news release Monday afternoon.
Possible sightings of Dylan have streamed in from across the country, he said, but there have been no confirmed sightings since he went missing Nov. 19. The FBI has been helpful at prodding agencies in other jurisdictions to follow up on possible leads, Shupe said.
Meanwhile, Dylan’s disappearance continues to weigh on Vallecito residents.
“It’s still on everyone’s mind that happens to come into here,” said Rolland Healy, owner of Vallecito Lake Country Market. “There are obviously still some people who are really optimistic, and, unfortunately, some people who are pessimistic about it.”
Residents have freely discussed the many possibilities that could explain Dylan’s disappearance, everything from foul play to Dylan running away and succumbing to the elements in the rugged outdoors that surround this remote vacation getaway 20 miles northeast of Durango.
“This is a wilderness area,” Healy said. “Even an animal in the forest could be involved, because we have a lot of those up here.”
The thought of foul play “is very foreign to us,” said Donna Atkinson, owner of the Pine River Lodge.
“It is definitely not fading away,” she said. “Everyone here at the lake is very worried about this little boy. We want Dylan to be found safe and sound as soon as possible.”
Authorities executed a search warrant last week at the house of Mark Redwine, the father of Dylan, but the father is not considered a suspect, said Capt. Jim Ezzell, chief investigator with the La Plata County Sheriff’s Office.
When contacted Monday, Mark Redwine declined to be interviewed, saying, “At this point, I think I’ve said as much as I need to say.”
He added: “The community’s been great. My problem is my ex-wife. She seems to have all the answers, and she seems to be the one everybody wants to listen to.”
Mark Redwine and Elaine Redwine divorced in 2007. Dylan and his mother moved to Colorado Springs this summer, along with Dylan’s brother, Cory.
They have had a protracted divorce with court proceedings occurring in almost monthly since 2005.
Mark Redwine had a run-in with the law nine years ago, and both he and Elaine Redwine filed restraining orders against each other in 2008.
Mark Redwine was ticketed for child abuse, menacing, trespass, assault and disorderly conduct in 2003 in Adams County. All of the charges were dropped except disorderly conduct, which Mark Redwine pleaded guilty to.
The incident involved an argument between Mark Redwine and his neighbor after the neighbor’s kid broke either Cory or Dylan’s toy truck. The two argued on the neighbor’s property until Mark Redwine left the residence and the neighbor called the police.
Mark Redwine filed a restraining order against his son, Cory, and Elaine Redwine in July 2008. Elaine Redwine filed a restraining order against her ex-husband on the same date. Dylan was listed as a protected person in both orders. Both of the orders were dismissed in December 2008.
Elaine Redwine told Nancy Grace on her CNN-affiliated Headline News legal affairs program Monday night that both she and Mark Redwine had taken polygraph tests. She said she had passed.
Both parties took a polygraph early on in the investigation, Shupe said, but authorities cannot release results.
Dylan returned Nov. 18 to visit his father as part of a court order. Upon landing at the Durango-La Plata County Airport, he texted his mother to notify her of his arrival. The text ended with an emoticon that was interpreted as a scowl, she said.
Ezzell declined to discuss the family dynamics and whether Dylan was disappointed he had to spend the Thanksgiving holiday with his father.
Mark Redwine said he left the house about 7:30 a.m. Nov. 19 to run errands, and that was the last time he saw his son. He returned about 11:30 a.m. to find Dylan gone. In an interview with The Denver Post, Mark Redwine said he returned to find a dirty cereal bowl near the sink, the television was on Nickelodeon, and his sons fishing pole was missing.
Ezzell declined to comment about the statements.
“It’s a tough case, but we’re doing everything we can,” he said. “We just ask the community to help us out if anyone out there has information that they think might be related. Don’t discount it. Just send the information our way, and we’ll check it out.”
Robert Nickell, who lived next door to the Redwines for about seven years, said they were “average” neighbors.
“We didn’t get to know them too well,” he said. “I wasn’t around them that much. I didn’t associate with them that much. They had their circle of friends and I have mine. I go to church on Sunday, and they go somewhere else.”
Nickell, who is now 88, said he was shoveling snow from in front of his mailbox, and Elaine Redwine came over to help him.
“I thought that was mighty nice of her,” he said.

Oh no, scrappy looking males you no like? My ex husbands all looked scrappy! :( Well to tell the truth when the scrappy looks started happening, then my brain said, kick their asses out and out they went and oh boy then they looked scrappy, being all on their own, doing things they liked to do that lead to scrappy looks!
I wonder who said the Dad's poly was inconclusive? LE aren't saying one way or another, unless I've read/listened to the wrong things. Unless he told the ex that his poly was inconclusive then I don't know how she could state this. As usual, I'm a tad

Dylan Redwine Update: Dozens of Items of Interest Found
The weekend search for Dylan Redwine has reportedly returned over a dozen clues, though investigators confirm that 10 of the items marked by searchers have been collected for reference. Officials have not clarified what these items could be, but media reports are being sure to share the last known images of the boy with a thorough description of him. Is it possible that any of the items of interest could be any of the items he was wearing?
It's probably safe to say the details would come out if searchers found the boy's cap or backpack, so what items of interest did searchers mark for investigators?
Dylan Redwine was last seen in public on November 18th, but was reported missing by his father on the 19th. The 13-year-old lives with his mother but was visiting his dad on a court-ordered visitation. Over the course of the case the mother of the missing teen has been very vocal about her suspicions against his father, but police have not changed their stance that neither parent are suspects, and both are being fully cooperative.

Scammer says he kidnapped Dylan Redwine
FARMINGTON — A man said he kidnapped Dylan Redwine and is asking for money for the 13-year-old’s release.
But the man is lying.
“This is a scam,” La Plata County Sheriff’s Office Capt. Jim Ezzell said in a statement. “Do not send him money.”
Dylan has been missing since Nov. 19. Dylan’s father, Mark Redwine, said he last saw his son early that morning.
A man who identified himself as Abass Gadafi is claiming on Facebook to be a “boss of a kidnapper gang,” and a new Bayfield, Colo. resident. He said he is holding Dylan captive and will release him for
$5,000 and he will provide a picture of him for $1,000.
The money is to be sent to an account in the United Kingdom via Western Union, the sheriff’s office said.
The sheriff’s office is asking anyone who is contacted by the person to call law enforcement at 970-385-2900.
Dylan grew up in Bayfield and moved to Colorado Springs this summer. He returned to the area Nov. 18 to visit his father for Thanksgiving.
Mark Redwine said Dylan vanished the next morning. The father lives in Vallecito, northeast of Durango.
The sheriff’s office has said they believe foul play is the reason for Dylan’s disappearance.
In the last three weeks investigators and officers from multiple agencies and hundreds of volunteers have scoured forested

areas, ditches alongside nearby roads and the bottoms and shores of lakes and reservoirs in southwest Colorado in search of Dylan.
About 250 hikers participated in a community search on Saturday.
The hikers recovered 10 items that investigators are evaluating as possible clues to Dylan’s disappearance.

The hikers recovered 10 items that investigators are evaluating as possible clues to Dylan’s disappearance.

Dylan Redwine search in Colorado goes on month after his disappearance

One month after Dylan Redwine vanished from his father's home at Vallecito Lake, a full contingent of investigators is still working the case and his family is still begging for his return, or for someone to tell them what happened to the 13-year-old.
"Someone's got him, and they can't keep him out of sight forever," said his aunt Lia Howard of Denver. "We just hope we can find what speaks to that person."
So far, a reward of $11,000 hasn't leveraged any solid leads. Tips are still coming in from across the country, but nothing has moved investigators closer to the missing teen. Items collected during a community roadside search 10 days ago haven't been definitively linked to Redwine.
The lack of any visible progress on the case has cast a pall over the tiny community of Vallecito at a time when it is usually celebrating the holidays and snow.
The horse-drawn sleighs, ice sculptors, dogsleds and cookie bakers were out last weekend for the annual Christmas festival, but Jim Schank, who owns the Schank House Bar & Grill at Vallecito, said it just wasn't the same this year.
"Overall, this community is still lost until Dylan is found," Schank said.
He said Dylan's dejected-appearing father Mark Redwine occasionally comes in to buy cigarettes.
"He's lost a lot of weight," Schank said.
Dylan's mother Elaine Redwine finally had to return to her home in Monument Sunday night after spending a month in the Durango area holding out hope that her son would be found.
"It was just heartbreaking for her to leave," Howard said.
Dylan disappeared Nov. 19, the morning after he flew in to spend Thanksgiving break with his father. Dylan and his mother had moved to the Colorado Springs area in July where she had primary custody of her son after a long and bitter divorce battle.
Investigators are chasing every tip and clue but have no suspect.

Search for missing Dylan Redwine goes on. Tips coming in goes down to 2 to 3 per day
Herald Staff Report Article Last Updated: Saturday, January 05, 2013 8:10pm
The Dylan Redwine Task Force is continuing its investigation into the disappearance of the 13-year-old, the La Plata County Sheriff’s Office said Saturday.
Anyone with information about the whereabouts of 13-year-old Dylan Redwine is asked to contact La Plata County Sheriff’s investigators Dan Patterson at 382-7015 or Tom Cowing at 382-7045.
There also is a local tip line, 382-7511, where information can be left on an answering machine that is checked regularly by investigators.
Additionally, people with information can call Durango-La Plata Crime Stoppers at 247-1112 or the hotline for the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children at (800) 843-5678.
Dylan was reported missing by his father, Mark Redwine, on Nov. 19, less than a day after arriving in La Plata County for a court-ordered visitation during Thanksgiving, department’s new release reiterated.
While the number of tips coming into the Sheriff’s Office has dropped from several dozen per day to an average of two or three per day, all sheriff’s investigators still are assigned to the case as well as working other criminal cases, the news release said.
In addition, investigators continue to make follow-up contacts by phone and in person, the department said.
As tips and other information become available, some are assigned to other task-force members. Members include investigators from Durango Police Department, Bayfield Marshal’s Office, Colorado Bureau of Investigation and the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
The reward for information leading to finding Dylan is about $20,000. That includes rewards through Crime Stoppers, the FBI and donations from residents and groups, the release said.
Some evidence sent to the CBI has been processed and returned to the Sheriff’s Office. However, information regarding that evidence will not be released because the investigation remains active, the Sheriff’s Office said in the release.
The Sheriff’s Office also said that family members continue to cooperate with investigators.
An updated missing person flier was released last week by Durango-La Plata Crime Stoppers.

Don't know maybe I missed it but where is this boys cell ? Did the police try to track it yet ?
Wonder what his mom was trying to say with "I don't think Mark treats him very well," ???
At the beginning I thought maybe this boy ran away because he did not want to be with his dad. I was thinking that perhaps he was hiding at a friends house but he is only 13 would think his friends are about the same age and still live at home so therefore have parents who would have had said something by now after seeing it on the news and all that . And then again what if he was sick of waiting for his friend and just left ? Where would he go ? Somebody must have seen him by now ? 13 Years old ? What would he do for money ? How would he feed himself ? Get a job ? I think and i hate to say it that he did not want to be with his dad they had a fight and something happend! Specially with his mother saying things like that. Dose she mean by that her ex is a violent person ?
Hope I'm not steeping on anybodys feet these are just my thoughts

And they are good ones at that. All viable for sure.
I don't know that Dylan had a cell. Not all kids at that age do, but I tend to agree w/your take on this very sad case.

Ok perhaps i got this wrong ?! I thought because of this ....Dylan was picked up by his father on Nov. 18 at Durango-La Plata County Airport for a court ordered visitation. The boy's mother, Elaine Redwine said Dylan announced his arrival in a text message that ended with a scowling emoticon.... he had a cell . Maybe it was his dad's phone ?? Never thought of that
Re: Dylan Redwine Missing 11.29.12: La Plata County Sheriff Says Colorado Boy Didn't Run Away/Dylan's parents on Dr Phil today 2.26.13
I think it's strange that the dad goes on an errand without the boy he hasn't seen in a while. Then again, I think it strange to get so mad at the kid so soon after he arrived for a visit as to kill him, even by accident.

I agree, Spay.
Also, not sure whose cell phone that was when he texted his mother. Have to wonder if the father actually texted her.

I have to think it was the boy's cell phone. The mother would want her son to be able to call her at any time. And I don't think the father would send a text with a negative emoticon. He wouldn't want anyone, especially his ex-wife, to think that the kid wasn't happy to be with him.
Anyway, I don't think the boy is alive. Statistics are against it. I've gotten pretty pessimistic since I've been watching the news about missing children. I hope I'm wrong.

You make an excellent point about the negative emoticom. It's still plausible this father could have been the one to text the mother and really make it look like he had arrived.
I don't have a good vibe about this case either. I hope we are Both wrong!

Redwine investigators: ‘We want to leave no stone unturned’. Efforts shed no light on case of missing teen.
By Shane Benjamin Herald staff writer Article Last Updated: Thursday, January 24, 2013 10:32pm
Investigators on snowshoes have searched several locations, including under bridges, this week for 13-year-old Dylan Redwine, who went missing in November north of Vallecito Reservoir.
Investigators have looked in three different locations: one in La Plata County, one in the high country north of Durango and one in eastern Colorado, said Dan Bender, spokesman with the La Plata County Sheriff’s Office.
He declined to be specific about the locations.
The searches did not yield any new evidence in the 3-month-old investigation, Bender said. The searches were done based on tips given to a task force assigned to investigate the case, he said.
“We’re searching for evidence that would, hopefully, lead us to locating Dylan,” Bender said.
The search in eastern Colorado was done by another agency.
The Sheriff’s Office continues to follow up on every tip, regardless of reliability, including those from psychics and mediums, said Investigator Ed Phippen, in a news release issued Thursday.
“We want to leave no stone unturned,” Phippen said.
Authorities also released an updated timeline detailing Dylan’s activities Nov. 18, the day he arrived in La Plata County for a court-ordered visit with his father:
5:46 p.m. Dylan arrived at Durango-La Plata County Airport.
7:05 p.m. Dylan was seen at Walmart in Durango.
7:22 p.m. Dylan and his father went to McDonalds in Durango.
9:37 p.m. Dylan sent his last text message.
Mark Redwine, Dylan’s father, is the last person identified as having seen Dylan. Mark Redwine told investigators he saw Dylan early Nov. 19 at his Vallecito home. The father ran errands in Durango, and when he returned four hours later, the boy was gone.
Investigators have confirmed Mark Redwine visited the locations where he said he was the morning his son disappeared.
Authorities executed an extensive search warrant Nov. 29 at the father’s home.
Several forensic test results have been returned, and the Sheriff’s Office is working jointly with the FBI to review the results, Bender said. Additional interviews are being conducted both locally and outside the region, he said.
Family members plan to rally outside the father’s house at 10 a.m. Saturday in the 2300 block of County Road 500, north of Vallecito Reservoir.
The rally is intended to remind the public that Dylan remains missing and put pressure on the father to communicate more with the family and to participate with search-related activities, according to organizers.
Mark Redwine said the rally is a “misguided attempt” to place blame on him. He does not plan to be home during the rally.

Misguided or not, if he is INNOCENT, he would be attending his son's rally. MOO.

If the father did errands for four hours, there would be videos, receipts, and people who could possible remember him. Does anyone know what kind of errands he says he was doing?

How is decided which cases are shown on tv and/or online?
Hi all,
I hope it is okay to ask a question:
I live in Colorado, where young Dylan Redwine is missing.
I have an Amber Alert app on my phone that shows missing children all over the US.
So, besides Dylan, there are sadly many missing children listed and i am wondering if anyone knows how is decided whether a case is featured on television or not? Could "they" do a "children only" show with all missing children?
It's probably pretty naive to ask but that's fine with me: i get quite annoyed that we don't hear more about cases like Dylan
I fully understand that air-time is expensive, but I've heard from people that when wanting to watch a news story online - they opt to skip the story because they have to sit through commercials first.
Can't a business put something next to a news story (instead of making us watch their commercial) like "Furniture Row supports the search for Dylan Redwine" WITH a child's information? People still see their name and missing children's cases get more exposure.
Be Well, Stay Safe - All Ways and Always,
Francisca

People still see their name and missing children's cases get more exposure.

You presented a very valid question. I've often wondered why some missing children or adults are picked up by the media and others are not. I also have that app on my phone although have noticed lately it is few and far between when I get a new "Amber Alert".
We've put cases here that have never been picked up by the media. IMO, if someone is that interested in missing children, tv commercials w/not sway them but your suggestion(s) are very, very good.
Maybe you can pose this question to the likes of Nancy Grace.

Thanks for the reply!
I like the app for the mere fact that when someone thinks they may have seen or see a missing person, they can "whip out" their phone and see details right then and there.
I politely disagree about people being "that" interested in missing children commercials will not sway them: it does. The world seems to change more and more into instant gratification mode and being "that interested" can be interpreted in all kinds of ways.
I am not talking about masses of people, but quite a few that I know of myself. People often may care, but they may just feel more like "s/he's in another state - I'm sure s/he'll turn up - how the heck would I see this kid" That doesn't make them bad, it makes them people.
Just as people will be way more interested if the story ran is about a local child. Besides, it would still not hurt the companies to post specifics - I'm sure they'll make money regardless.
I do not understand the Nancy Grace remark at all - 1. because I don't. And 2. Because I may be challenged, but I care deeply.
I did approach people about things like this: probably once again a money issue, but I don't quite get for instance why shows like "America's Most Wanted" show the areas where people have fled from ~ yet they could just as well do segments -even just on their website- of "these missing or fugitives have a high probability to be in your area". Because for many people they are aware of where they may be.
I'll always care. For now I'll just care and weep.

I cannot stomach NG. It was a slight on her. She has a tendency to only run high profile cases that w/give her massive ratings. Example: When Michael Jackson and Whitney Houston died. She ran ad nauseum stories on them when there are missing/murdered children abound. She also is mellow-dramatic and is a royal PITA. (pain in the azz). I am watching her now only because she is interviewing people who knew/know TA and JA. Hope that clears that up. This is WHY I said maybe you can pose that question to NG. It was sarcasm..sorry. It was sarcastic re: her, NOT YOU!!!

Most people now have the DVR where one can pause, record or fast forward through the commercials.

Dylan Redwine's dad says everyone suspect in teen's disappearance
POSTED: 01/31/2013 12:01:00 AM MST
UPDATED: 01/31/2013 01:59:18 AM MST
The father of missing Colorado teen Dylan Redwine says everyone, including both parents, remains a suspect in the disappearance case that started two months ago.
"They need to look at everybody ," said Mark Redwine who was the last known person to see Dylan.
"Dylan is not here," said Dylan's mom, Elaine Redwine, in a separate interview. "We don't know where Dylan is."
Elaine has blamed her ex-husband for losing their son.
"I'm not interested in blaming anyone," Mark added. "I think once we find Dylan, it will bring all the answers to the questions we don't have."
Dylan Redwine, 13, disappeared Nov. 19. Dylan Redwine Task Force investigators said they searched miles of countryside and interviewed hundreds of people, but developments in the case have now dwindled.
Both parents, who had been involved in a divorce and custody battle for several years, deny any involvement in the disappearance.
