I was unfamiliar with this case until I saw something on Fox News a few weeks back. I've read over everything I could find on the internet on this case and am able to come up with a scenario fairly easy. She was walking by herself and texting on her phone not paying attention to her surroundings. The guy overpowered her. It would have happened very fast and his vehicle would have been nearby. People were trying to text and call her so the abductor turned her phone off. That is why her phone is no longer pinging the cell phone towers as it travels South as is shown on the Investigation Discovery. He would have taken the phone away from her immediately or else she would have attempted to dial 911 or something. I didn't understand at first why the cops felt she was alive when her cell phone gave it's last ping at the boat landing but now I do. I would guess she made a last ditch effort to get to her phone and was able to turn it on for a moment before it was turned off again. It is obvious the abductor took her to this boat landing for a reason and dumped her body in the river. The mother even states on 1 episode of Investigation Discovery that the cops told her Brittanee would have lasted 6 hours in the river before the alligators got to her. I am curious as to the current in this river. If there is a possibility she is further downstream then they have searched in the past. I had a friend whose brother drowned in the Missouri River when he was a teenager. They found his body 10 river miles downstream 3 days later. The girl went to Myrtle Beach thinking it was going to be fun and ended up all by herself and not having any fun. She was looking forward to going home and probably realized her mother was right and wished she would have stayed at home. This is a sad case indeed.

Very sad to say the least. It bothers many that her body has never been found. If gators got to her, she is a goner and this case will eventually go cold, but I agree w/your scenario.

I understand last August they collected some evidence at a apartment in the Sunset Lodge apartments. I am wondering if anything was found? I understand that someone came forward with some information prior to this search. It makes me wonder if someone from the apartment complex came forward with some information. I also understand the person of interest had moved out 6 months prior. Maybe the person with the information was afraid to come forward until after the person of interest moved out.

I hope it is not true about the alligators. They found 2 bone fragments and one chewed up tennis shoe 1/2 mile from the plane crash site of the pilot/businessman Steve Fossett a few years ago. It is not very hard to figure out what happened to him. That is nature.

Ticket shows person of interest near Drexel's last known location
SURFSIDE BEACH, SC --
A traffic ticket shows that a person of interest in the case of missing New York teenager Brittanee Drexel was near the location the teen was last seen the day after she disappeared.
Raymond Moody,Georgetown, was pulled over by Surfside Beach Police Officer Steve Brode at 3:21pm April 26, 2009, according to the ticket obtained by News 13.
The ticket shows Moody was traveling 45 miles per hour in a 30 miles per hour section of 16th Avenue North and Cherry Drive in SurfsideBeach.
It also shows Moody was driving a Harley Davidson motorcycle when he was pulled over.
The ticket indicates Moody paid a $133 fine and therefore did not need to show up to the set May 20, 2009 court date.
In August 2011 Georgetown County Sheriff's deputies and South Carolina Law Enforcement division agents conducted a search for clues in the Drexel case at the Sunset Lodge Apartments in Georgetown.
Authorities searched Apartment 22 which SLED said Moody lived in “at or around the time Drexel disappeared."
SLED also confirmed Moody lived in Georgetown at that time and had previously been arrested and convicted on numerous charges including committing a lewd act with a minor under the age of 14, sodomy with a child under the 14, rape, and kidnapping to commit rape in California.
A woman who claimed to be Moody’s girlfriend said in August that she was with Moody on the night Drexel disappeared in 2009 and that she and Moody were no where near Myrtle Beach at that time.
In August Moody said he knew nothing about the missing teen’s disappearance.
Moody is a registered sex offender, according to records.

Three years after Brittanee Drexel’s disappearance, a victim of ‘person of interest’ speaks out
By Cristina Corbin

Police say Raymond Moody is a “person of interest” in the disappearance of Brittanee Drexel, the 17-year-old from upstate New York who vanished in South Carolina exactly three years ago today.
But to Kerri Harding, Moody is the monster who abducted and raped her in 1983, when she was just 8, and she’s convinced he should be the prime suspect in the Drexel case.
Harding survived the attack in California, but the terrifying memory of her ordeal has never left her. Drexel disappeared from South Carolina’s Myrtle Beach on April 25, 2009, and is presumed dead. Police told FoxNews.com there are similarities between the two cases, and said they confirmed Moody was in the area near where Drexel was last seen. But authorities don’t have enough evidence to declare him a suspect, and to Harding’s horror, he refuses to speak to them.
“My biggest fear is that he’ll do it again,” said Harding, now 38. “You should never get a second chance to hurt a child.”
Moody, 52, served 21 years of a 40-year prison sentence after admitting to sexually assaulting Harding and six other girls. He relocated to Georgetown, S.C., after his release from the California State Prison in Solano in 2004. The ex-con, who police say works in a woodworking shop, could not be reached for comment.
Harding has monitored Moody’s whereabouts since his release, and knew he had resurfaced in South Carolina. When she came upon a February article on FoxNews.com reporting that Moody is a person of interest in Drexel’s disappearance, she said she had no doubt that her tormentor had struck again.
“That was my very first thought,” she said. “That he’s at it again. It was a gut feeling.”
Harding was walking alone to meet a friend at her elementary school in Vallejo, Calif., when she encountered Moody on Jan. 20, 1983. He forced the young girl into his car, saying he intended to drop her off at a police station because “‘You’re too little to be out here by yourself,’” Harding recalled.
Moody drove to an empty cul-de-sac, where he raped the child repeatedly before she managed to escape after pleading with her assailant to use a bathroom. The young girl was able to tell police she saw a green sticker on Moody’s car, which police determined was needed to gain entry onto a U.S. Navy base in Vallejo. That ultimately led them to Moody, who confessed to the rape and to assaulting six other children. He served slightly more than half of his prison sentence.
“He should have never been released,” she told FoxNews.com. “Why would the courts even take a chance with our children?”
Drexel, a high school junior from the Rochester, N.Y., area, went with friends and without her mom's permission to Myrtle Beach on April 23, 2009. She left a group of male friends from Rochester at the Blue Water Resort to walk back to the Bar Harbor Hotel, where she was staying with other girls, at around 9 p.m. on April 25. But security video confirmed she never made it to her hotel, police said.
Law enforcement sources in South Carolina told FoxNews.com there are striking similarities between the Harding and Drexel cases, though they declined to elaborate on many details. But Moody, a registered Level 3 sex offender, has long been a focus of their investigation. The last signal from Drexel’s cellphone came that same night about 50 miles south of Myrtle Beach and 8 miles from where Moody was living at the time. A traffic ticket also put him in the Myrtle Beach area the same weekend the teen disappeared. Yet most alarming to police was Moody’s refusal to speak with them.
Police suspect Drexel was kidnapped as she walked along Ocean Boulevard and driven to Georgetown County, some 50 miles away. Her cell phone signal was last detected in a remote boat landing area near the South Santee River and roughly 8 miles from the Sunset Lodge apartments in Georgetown County, where Moody had been living at the time, according to Investigator Phillip Hanna of the Georgetown County Sheriff's Office.
On Wednesday – the third anniversary of Drexel’s disappearance – her mother, Dawn, said her determination to find her oldest child will never waver.
“I won’t stop until I have answers,” Drexel told FoxNews.com. “And I will always be hopeful until I know the worst.”
Harding, meanwhile, said she “won’t rest until the laws are changed.”
“If justice were served correctly, this girl would be alive today,” she said. “That’s hard to swallow.”

Thanks for posting that Lisette. He should not be out of prison! He served just 21 years for raping an eight year old girl several times and sexually assaulted six more girls and he's on the streets? That's B.S.!!!! I don't know whats wrong w/ the judges who sentence too light and/or the parole boards who think they should let terribly violent offenders out after serving just a few years of their sentences! I sure hope they can find some evidence on this POS and pick him up before another child is harmed.

Excellent post on the information concerning the traffic ticket. I have a question about the story Fox News story above. Was Moody in the military in 1983?

Brittanee Drexel's father unhappy with some police efforts
By Sean Maginnis - email
MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) On the three year anniversary of New York teen Brittanee Drexel's disappearance, her father said some authorities are not doing enough to find his daughter.
"I'm a father with a missing child," Drexel said. "And I'm not getting any help."
During a phone interview with WMBF News Wednesday, Chad Drexel said he believes political or jurisdictional issues could be preventing the Georgetown County Sheriff's Office from doing more to find the missing teen.
"I'm very concerned with how [the sheriff's office] is approaching [this case], and I haven't received one bit of communication," Drexel said. "Georgetown [Sheriff's Office] wants to stay out of it for some reason; I'm done with all that."
Drexel said he believes there are areas and evidence the sheriff's office has not explored, and in the coming months he plans to work with a private group, Merrill's Investigations, to help find his daughter.
Merrill's Investigations volunteered their time and resources to the Brittanee Drexel investigation for months in 2010, until several of the investigations lead supervisors were taken off the case, according to a 2011 WMBF News report.
Drexel said he plans to remain active in his search for his daughter Brittanee, and believes Merrill's could play a key part in bringing closure for his family.
The Georgetown County Sheriff's Office said they are not aware of any jurisdictional or political issues involved in the Brittanee Drexel disappearance case, and said they continue to do everything in their power to find the missing teen.
Brittanee Drexel was last seen in the Grand Strand on April 25, 2009.

I am sorry if this is a repeat of any information. I will watch on occasion the Investigation Discovery episode concerning Brittanee on my computer. The show features 2 detectives from Myrtle Beach, SC police department. That means to me the information presented by them is about as accurate as one can find on the internet by someone who isn't involved directly in this case. Brittanee is captured on a traffic camera at 8:15 pm walking South to visit a friend at the Bluewater Resort. The traffic camera from what I have found using Google maps is located on a ledge of a balcony at the Quality Inn & Suites 1004 South Ocean Boulevard.
She arrives and then leaves again as a friend has asked her to return a pair of shorts she is wearing. Detective Dorio states on the show that this is 8:48 pm. I searched and found the photos of Brittanee entering and leaving the Bluewater Resort (below). The only problem is the time on these photos is different than what is stated by Detective Dorio. The one photo shows her entering at 7:55 pm and leaving at 8:13 pm. Obviously these times are incorrect since she walks by the traffic camera at 8:15 pm. So if I take the 8:48 pm as when she leaves as being accurate the time on the picture is 35 minutes off. The same would be true as when she entered Bluewater Resort and the corrected time would be 8:30 pm.
So now I have a time frame from when she walked by traffic cam (8:15 pm) to when she entered the Bluewater Resort (8:30 PM) and a known distance. The distance between traffic cam (11th Avenue South) and Bluewater Resort (2001 South Ocean Boulevard). If I use Google Earth I find that distance to be .68 miles. Brittanee walked .68 miles in 15 minutes. If I do a little math that is 2.74 miles per hour. Which is a fairly normal walking pace. Some people walk a little faster, some people walk a little slower. According to the cell phone records presented on the show she last texted her boyfriend at 8:58 pm. 10 minutes after she left the Bluewater Resort. She recieves a message at I think 9:03 pm and 9:05 pm from her boyfriend in which he asks "Why babe" and "Why who or Why Boo" . I am not sure about 9:03 pm and the 9:05 pm since the time and messages are blurred and hard to read. She also receives a message at 9:06 pm from a friend in Rochester I would presume which asks "You back from Myrtle yet?" This information is shown on the Investigation Discovery show. If you take the 10 minutes (time she left Bluewater Resort to time of last text) and multiple 2.74 miles per hour you get a distance of .46 miles.
I would assume when she left the Bluewater Resort she would have stayed on west side of street which is where the Bluewater Resort is and walked north rather than crossing the street. If I use the distance of .46 miles this puts her between 15th Avenue South and 14th Avenue South next to a place called the Carousel and the Cabana Inn. This is the area which she sent her last text. OK so sometime between 8:58 pm and 9:06 pm she was kidnapped. This is 8 minutes. Once again if I use 2.74 miles per hour walking pace and 8 minutes I get a distance of .37 miles. The only problem is .37 miles takes you past the traffic camera on 11th Avenue South and takes you to 9th Avenue South. The traffic camera is only .21 miles away. In reality she would have to been kidnapped between 8:58 pm and 9:02 pm or she would have walked in front of traffic camera at 11th Avenue south.
I hope this makes sense. My personal opinion is she was kidnapped closer to 8:58 pm since she would have been paying more attention to her cell phone at that time.

Drexel said she hopes the letter will lead to new information about her daughter's whereabouts.
Dawn Drexel and other members of the family say they plan to travel to Myrtle Beach October 5 - 7 to commemorate the birthday.
MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) - The mother of missing New York teen Brittanee Drexel issued a letter to WMBF News Thursday night, questioning whether the people who saw her last told police everything they know.
In the letter, Drexel said she has serious questions about the timeline of her daughter's disappearance, as told by the group of friends she traveled to Myrtle Beach with three years ago.
"I think they may know what happened, or what car she got into," Drexel said during a phone interview Thursday night. "They're not giving all the information they know, and I think they're scared."
Drexel said she hopes the letter will lead to new information about her daughter's whereabouts.
"I hope [the letter] accomplishes that someone will come forward and [give] police the information they need to find my daughter," Drexel said. "Someone needs to start talking; it's been three years, and if it was a member of their...family, I think they would want the same."
The letter comes just more than a week before Brittanee Drexel's 21st Birthday. Dawn Drexel and other members of the family say they plan to travel to Myrtle Beach October 5 - 7 to commemorate the birthday.
On October 5, Chelsea Jo's Restaurant in Myrtle Beach will hold a fundraiser to aid in the search for Brittanee Drexel. Twenty percent of all proceeds from the event will go toward the CUE Center for Missing persons in Wilmington.
The Drexel family will also hold a candle light vigil on October 7 near Market Common in Myrtle Beach near the site of a tree the family planted in Brittanee Drexel's honor earlier this year.
Dawn Drexel's letter can be read in its entirety below:

Dawn Drexel's letter can be read in its entirety below:
Please share my announcement in honor of my daughter on what should have been her 21st Birthday….
This letter is being written concerning information that I am aware of that surrounds the disappearance of Brittanee Drexel, whom went missing in Myrtle Beach, SC. The past three years have been a heart wrenching experience, and I know someone has knowledge of what happened to my daughter.
On April 25, 2009 I received a call that no mother would ever want to receive, saying that my daughter was in Myrtle Beach and the caller could not find her; this is where my nightmare began. My frantic calls to her cell phone the days that followed went unanswered trailing straight to her voicemail.
Once learning the identity of the people she went to South Carolina with on spring break, I began to make calls to them beginning first with Peter. I desperately sought any information from him concerning my daughter's whereabouts, and his reply was, and I quote, "I don't know and I am not her babysitter." I then requested if he could go out and search for her, again his response was negative. He refused to participate in anything concerning my daughter. I called Peter at least six or seven times that night, three different stories were told to me and never did I obtain any truth; I gave up.
As I found out more additional phone numbers of the people from New York Brittanee traveled with I called to no avail, those people would not answer my calls. In my frustration to get someone who could help, I contacted a friend of our family who was in the military hours away and requested of him to go there look for my daughter and to file a missing child report, and he did, immediately; I was already in route from my home with family and friends.
Arriving in Myrtle Beach I learned Peter, a club promoter and his friends had left at 1:00 am to head back to Rochester, New York and that they had been asked to leave the hotel for remarks that were made to one of the hotel employees at the Blue Water Resort. He left his belongings and $100 deposit. Peter arrived in Rochester placing pictures on the Internet of him at barbeque and other fun activities, then he hired attorney, John Parinello. Brittanee had known him for five years and he displayed no empathy or concern of my missing daughter.
The others who Brittanee rode with were still there, leaving two days later upon my arrival, but they only stayed that long due to the police questioning them. Not one person that was with my daughter helped me in any way, not one of them ever contacted me with concern or offered to any help, and not any of the parents of these people to this day have reached out to help or console me in my grief. It was and still remains a hard thing for me to understand, most human beings have compassion for a total stranger, but not this group!
I began to receive calls from my family and friends back in New York that these same people who were the last ones to see my daughter were posting nasty remarks about my daughter and mad because she ruined their vacation. Their slanderous lies and horrible actions only aided the pain I was suffering along with all who love Brittanee Drexel. But that is all they did, they have never told what happened or offered any additional help to my daughter's investigation, in my opinion. My daughter made mistakes and one of the largest ones she ever made was when she trusted this group of people with her life.
I later found out that the girls in this group of people treated my daughter poorly and by Brittanee's text messages to her then boyfriend revealed how miserable she really was, Brittanee was also packed that day to leave. My daughter in well lit streets packed with beach vacationers from all over walked from the Bar Harbor to the Blue Water to get a pair of shoes she had left in a vehicle earlier that day. While walking, text messages rung in from Jenn wanting her shorts returned for the outing planned that night. Then there is the infamous camera shot of my daughter entering the Blue Water and exiting, never to be seen or heard from again. My question is when she entered she went to the right, but the elevators were on the left? That has always bothered me because the only thing to the right is the hotel pool area.
Another item that has me concerned is supposedly my daughter went to the sixth floor to retrieve her shoes and that witnesses advised early in the investigation that they were watching the Red Sox Game and eating, but later I found out the game began at 4:10 pm that day ending at 7:45 pm this was way before my daughter went there. They claimed that was factual because Brittanee grabbed some food off a plate of an individual there. Brittanee was seen on the street camera in route to the Blue Water and the times just do not match up, period.
While my daughter was at the beach, her and this group visited a place called Club Kryptonite (now closed down). I fear only what may have gone on and many rumors over time have sent my imagination to some dark corners throughout my daughter's disappearance. Rumors alone have almost destroyed me at times. The fact that a body has not been found provides me a reasonable strength to press forward.
Did someone pick out my child that night? Did the wrong person notice my beautiful daughter that night? Did a plan devise that night to take my daughter or a plan prior in place? You see, this group of people had visited North and South Carolina before, Brittanee, although she wanted to think she was old enough, she was still just a child, not seeing the danger ahead.
How can my daughter arrive to a place and within sixty hours vanish? There were thousands of witnesses, yet not one person saw if she got into a vehicle, was forced against her will or even noticed her for the most part walking down the main road.
So many questions three years later that remain unanswered, leaving me and my family clinging to the hope that maybe after all the searches, all the media pleas and all the awareness campaigns, just maybe she could be alive? I am told to expect the worst, but how does a mother give up and not look for her child or ask the world to help her look.
Could my daughter be the next miracle story rescued from a human trafficking ring, or found by accident while being held captive by some freak or being used in some sort of sex slavery? Could someone with resources have taken my child on a plane or boat far away from the initial area and that is why no one to date knows anything of her whereabouts? These questions and a hundred more flood my late night thought and dreams.
Over the years I have had to deal with new announcements of what could have happened to my daughter; one year some local persons of interest possibly did something, to a registered sex offender possibility facing a clouded reality that my child may have been murdered. No one can provide me facts, only possibilities. In any story the fact my daughter is missing is horrifying enough; the unthinkable projections eat at me daily. Some days I feel the need to be rescued!
In closing, I have to acknowledge through this horrible nightmare the one good thing is I have met so many wonderful southern community people, those who endlessly search for my child at the CUE Center for Missing Persons, all law enforcement agencies always giving countless hours in Brittanee's investigations, others that where total strangers, now almost like family (to all I am grateful for). My family and I could have never stayed the coarse with out each little and big act of kindness shown. I have been made aware that "good'' still does exist in the world.
But I want and need my child back, I am broken, my family and friends are broken, we linger in a constant trauma of the ugly "unknown" fate of a missing child, my daughter, Brittanee Marie Drexel.

Family holds vigil in honor of Brittanee Drexel’s 21st birthday
Family of Brittanee Drexel gathered by the tree of hope planted in her honor in Grand Park at The Market Common on Sunday night to celebrate her 21st birthday.
The Rochester, N.Y., girl went missing in April 2009 during a spring break trip to Myrtle Beach when she was 17.
“It is Brittanee’s 21st birthday,” said her mother Dawn Drexel as she fought back tears. “I remember when she was a baby. She wanted to do a lot of things for her birthday and someone took that away from us.”
The Drexel family traveled from New York to hold a candlelight vigil on Brittanee’s birthday.
“Every time we get her face out there, we get tips and we get leads in her case,” Dawn Drexel said.
Brittanee Drexel was last seen leaving the Blue Water Hotel on Ocean Boulevard in Myrtle Beach on April 25, 2009. Her case has been profiled on dozens of local and national television shows, billboards and websites.
Surfside Beach resident Julie Pollard said she moved to the area in July but had heard about the Drexel family’s search for Brittanee. She and her daughter brought birthday balloons to the vigil.
“I just [wanted] to show my support to the family. I have four daughters and four granddaughters and just can’t even imagine what they’re going through,” she said. “I just hope and pray that Brittanee comes home safe and sound.”
Dawn Drexel said more searches are planned for her daughter in the near future.
“We’re never going to stop looking for her until she’s back with us,” she said.

The family of Brittanee Drexel, who disappeared on spring break in Myrtle Beach in 2009, will join with members of the CUE Center for Missing Persons to mark the four year anniversary of the last time she was seen.
The public is invited to Grand Park at Market Common on Farrow Parkway at 6:30 pm on Thursday, April 25.
The family will be handing out packets of the flower "Forget Me Not" seedlings in memory of Brittanee.
They will gather at a tree planted last year on the anniversary to plant the first of the flower packets.
"We will never give up hope in finding my daughter, my family and I will continue to do whatever it takes to bring forth answers", said Dawn Drexel, Brittanee's mother. "I recall when this first all began I would think to myself, I am not going to be like all the other families across the nation and wait years, not me...here I am four years later feeling the same uneasiness and sorrow."

Just saw this article about them finding 3 skeletons in the area where Brittany disappeared. I wonder if one of them will be her? Sure hope there isn't another serial killer out there.

Thank You For Link Sam.
The families of these missing people deserve answers to what happened to their loved ones.
If the skeletal remains turn out not to be one of these 3 women, they belong to someone who's been missed and loved ones concerned about what happened to them.

Looking at this again and reading more slowly ;-) I think maybe they only found one set of remains (not 3). And these 3 females are a possibility.

Remains In South Carolina Are Not Those Of Brittanee Drexel
A coroner in Horry County, South Carolina tells WXXI News that the skeletal remains found last weekend are not those of Brittanee Drexel of Chili. He says the bones appear to be those of a male, at least 20 years old.
There had been speculation about the remains since Drexel was last seen not far from there, in Myrtle Beach, when she went down there on spring break in 2009. The search for the 17 year old has been going on since then.
The remains were sent to a lab in Texas for DNA testing.

Weekend search planned for Brittanee Drexel; last seen five years ago in Myrtle Beach
BY TONYA ROOT
May 9, 2014 Updated 4 hours ago

Officials will gather again this weekend to search for clues in the disappearance of New York teen last seen in Myrtle Beach five years ago.
Brittanee Drexel was 17 when she was last seen on April 25, 2009, leaving the Blue Water Hotel on Ocean Boulevard in Myrtle Beach. She had come to the Grand Strand for spring break with friends from her home in Rochester, N.Y., and without the consent of her parents.
Police and searchers have focused on the area where Georgetown and Charleston counties meet after Drexel’s cell phone gave off its last known signal on April 26, 2009.
“There will a search going on this weekend in the Georgetown area,” said Myrtle Beach police Capt. David Knipes. “There is nothing new to report, we are just continuing the investigation and looking at new and old areas.”
In August 2011, state and local police searched a room at the Sunset Lodge on U.S. 17 near the Georgetown County Airport where someone identified as a person of interest had stayed. Police officials declined to comment on findings in that hotel room, and no new information has been released since that search.
Police have worked closely with members of the CUE Center, a nonprofit organization that searches for missing people and is based in Wilmington, N.C., to organize similar searches in the past. Those have included K-9 teams, searchers on horses and volunteers combing through wooded areas for any signs of Drexel.
Drexel’s mother, Dawn Drexel, moved from Rochester, N.Y., to Myrtle Beach last year and is now a CUE state director and board. She helps conduct searches for other missing people using the organization’s volunteers and law enforcement connections.
Brittanee Drexel’s case has been profiled on dozens of local and national television shows, her information has been featured on billboards throughout the area and there are several websites dedicated to information about her.

Georgetown County magistrate releases search warrant in Brittanee Drexel case
Posted: Monday, June 30, 2014 9:52 am | Updated: 3:49 pm, Mon Jun 30, 2014.
By Michael Smith michael.smith@myhorrynews.com
Judicial records recently released by a Georgetown County judge are offering new insight into the search for Brittanee Drexel, a Rochester, N.Y. teen who vanished while visiting Myrtle Beach in 2009.
The search warrant is dated Jan. 12, 2010, nearly nine months after Drexel, 17, disappeared on April 25, 2009, and about a month after designer sunglasses initially thought to belong to Drexel were found in Georgetown County near the Santee River.
Investigators sought the warrant to search an address on Corner Loop in southern Georgetown County, near the North Santee River.
The address is in the 2000 block of Corner Loop, according to Georgetown County property records.
Georgetown County Chief Magistrate Isaac Pyatt released the search warrant to Waccamaw Publishers on Wednesday after a journalist requested it.
Drexel is not mentioned by name in the warrant, but Pyatt, who signed the warrant in 2010, confirmed Wednesday that he signed the warrant as part of the search for Brittanee Drexel.
The warrant sought "any and all items would could produce any biological or trace evidence also to include any and all clothing material, weapons and or any objects which may have been used to inflict any type of bodily injury to the victim in this case."
It also sought "any and all evidence that will assist law enforcement to establish the circumstances of this case and the whereabouts of any suspects."
According to the warrant, investigators were searching in the area of Corner Loop with cadaver dogs on Jan. 12, 2010 with consent from the landowner.
Four separate canines alerted to the same area around a set of GPS coordinates off Corner Loop, the warrant said.
"Based on the expert handlers' experience with their canines, they believe that evidence could be found at that location," the warrant states.
The warrant, however, was voided and no findings were mentioned in the court document released to Waccamaw Publishers.
A representative with the Georgetown County magistrate's office said that means the warrant was never executed.
Capt. David Knipes, spokesman for Myrtle Beach police, said it was never formally executed because police had consent from the landowner to search the property.
“It was done as a precautionary measure,” he said.
Drexel was last known to be in Myrtle Beach at about 8:10 p.m. April 25, 2009, when video cameras recorded her leaving the Bluewater Resort on South Ocean Boulevard.
Her cell phone pinged the following day in southern Georgetown County. Since then, many searches for the missing Rochester, N.Y. teen have been concentrated in Georgetown County near the Charleston County line.
