CLARKSTON - Where is Rachael Anderson? Police, family, friends and much of the Valley want to know.

On Thursday Amber Griswold, one of Rachael's' daughters, talked about her mother and her connection to family.

"She's a mom of four," said Griswold. "She's a great mom. She's always there, very supportive. She is also a grandma. She has grandkids also."

Amber said her mother's disappearance is not a case of someone just leaving town.

"She cares for her family a lot, her family and friends. And she would never walk away," said Griswold.

She said her mother was being harassed and her mother's car vandalized.

"Her tires had just been slashed and I had to help her buy some tires because she had no money left," said Griswold. "Her window had been broken in, a couple other things done to her car. Muffler falling off, when she's driving away, oil pan, just random things like that."

The window on Rachael Anderson's car was broken while at work at St. Joe's. That's why she had a friend's car, a Yukon, when she went missing.

The SUV was found Wednesday afternoon in North Lewiston. Amber Griswold said her mom was also getting strange calls and text messages.

"All through the night, all day constantly," said Griswold. "She had no idea who's doing it, She had no idea where it was coming from. She didn't know who she could trust, who she couldn't."

Police said all indications are that Anderson was last seen in Moscow on Friday.

"Nobody knew actually she was going to Moscow. That was the thing, none of her friends knew," said Griswold. "She had prior plans with another friend in Clarkston and so she wasn't supposed to be in Moscow."

But it wasn't until Monday that family got concerned.

"I didn't even get concerned because Saturday, I had a barbecue and she told me earlier in the week, 'Oh I may not be there, I might be working (because she said she might work on Saturday) or I might be doing some other stuff trying to dig around and trying to figure out who's doing all this,'" said Griswold. "She said she probably wouldn't come, so when she didn't show up I didn't think anything of it and then I got a phone call on Monday saying she didn't show up, and then I knew something was wrong."

Along with posting fliers throughout town, Amber has started a Facebook page to share information. As of Thursday afternoon there were over 2,800 members. With it, she is trying to dispel rumors.

"You know it's kind of hard to say (whether it was random or somebody she knew) because it could be the person supposedly that was stalking her or it could be totally just random chance that it happened to her and it was just someone that was passing through," said Griswold. "We don't know, we don't know at this point. Detective Halley (Asotin Co. Sheriff's Office) said it was okay that I said something about that there might possibly be suspects, but they are not even sure. They just don't have any evidence at this time."

Griswold said there were no signs of a break-in at her mom's Clarkston home.

Police have organized a task force comprised of officers and deputies from various local agencies. The FBI has also been notified but has yet to directly join in on the case.

Lewiston Police said there is security video from the bus stop where the SUV was found. They said they are going through three days worth of video from several different cameras.

I just thought I should post this article on here, as this is my families home town and it's so scary what has transpired with this women before she went missing!!!

Wow, this is really scarey. I wonder if she had reported (or tried to report) any of the things that were happening to her.

I asked my Aunt, who works with her and the daughter at the Hospital, and she said she didn't know of any Stalkers, but that it has not been ruled out.

Also, she has been missing for a week, and they just NOW found her car in North Lewiston (a few miles away from her home) and also found out that there is a notice out to 3 states WA, ID & OR!!

Please everyone, keep this women in her thoughts and prayers tonight!! I hope she is found safe and ALIVE!!

The search for a missing Black Hills woman continues in Washington state Saturday night. Rachael Anderson is originally from the Belle Fourche area but now lives in Clarkston, Washington with her children and grandchildren.

Anderson was reported missing Monday after failing to show up to work. Her family says she had been stalked by someone for several months and recently filed a report with the local police. An SUV that authorities believe the 40-year-old was driving when she first went missing was found Wednesday. Her family from the Northern Hills has traveled to Clarkston to help with the search.

Anderson's brother, Robert says she is a very caring mother, and for her to go days without being heard from is very uncharacteristic. Police search building south of Moscow in relation to missing Clarkston woman

Law enforcement officials confirmed a Moscow building where missing person Rachel L. Anderson was last seen was searched Thursday night in Moscow.

Clarkston Police Chief Joel Hastings said a missing persons task force searched a Moscow building where the 40-year-old Clarkston woman was reportedly last seen.

“Anything they thought was possibly of value was collected and sent to the (Idaho) crime lab,” Hastings said, adding no suspects or persons of interest have been identified. “Lots of people have been talked to. (The task force has) done a lot of interviews. The detectives continue to look at every tip, every piece of information, to try to locate her.”

Moscow Assistant Police Chief David Duke said the Moscow Police Department also is working on getting a search warrant for a storage shed Anderson rents in Moscow. Duke said police will look for background information in the shed if they receive the warrant.

Anderson was reportedly last seen in Moscow on April 16. The case is being treated as a suspicious missing persons case because she failed to show up for work at the Pathologists Regional Laboratory in Lewiston, which is highly unusual for the woman, according to previous reports.

Her white 1997 GMC Yukon with Idaho license plate 1L 93131 was recovered at approximately 12:30 p.m. Wednesday near the Dynamart station in North Lewiston. The vehicle was removed from that location and taken to an undisclosed location to be processed.

Anderson is 5 feet, 4 inches tall, weighing 120 pounds. She has black hair and brown eyes.

Rachael Anderson is a mother, grandmother, aunt, sister, friend and one who brightened everyone’s day. My name is Ashley Colbert, and myself and my sister Amber Griswold are searching for our missing mother, Rachael Anderson of Clarkston, Washington, who is missing under suspicious circumstances. My mother also two sons ages 6 and 11. She is a grandmother of four grandchildren ages 5, 4, 2, and 16 months. Rachael is a 40 year old white female, 5’ 4”, 120lbs. My mother was last seen In Moscow, Idaho on Friday, April 16, 2010. My sister and I reported her missing on Monday, April 19th after she failed to make it to work and we were unable to contact her. This type of behavior is very uncharacteristic of our mother.

The past three months have been a nightmare for her. She was a victim of stalking and feared for her life. The stalking compelled her to sleep in the living room of her home with the lights on instead sleeping in her own bedroom. Many times she would have a friend stay over with her because she was so scared.

The stalking began three months ago with phone calls. At first with the phone calls, no one would respond. The phone calls progressed into music playing in the background, that was muffled, and no one would speak on the phone. Then she started getting phone calls from various telephone numbers with disguised voices. The disguised voices would tell her what she was doing, what specific lights were on in her home, as if every move she made was being watched.

During this time my mom had the lock to her shed broken off, eerily men’s cologne was present on her front porch at night, her vehicle tires were slashed in front of her home, and the back windshield of her vehicle was broken in broad daylight at the parking lot of her employer. She had reported this information to law enforcement as she feared for her life. Multiple police reports were filed and she was working with a police detective with whom she checked in with everyday. On the day that my sister and I reported our mother missing, our mother was supposed to meet with detectives to try and find out who was stalking and harassing her. Interestingly, my mother also had documented information which she was compiling together that is now missing.

With the search for my mother, the vehicle she was last seen driving was located on Wednesday, April 21, 2010. The vehicle was located at a local gas station/bus stop. During the search for my mother, law enforcement has issued search warrants. A building she was last seen in on Friday, April 16th was one of the locations that a search warrant was executed. On Monday, April 26, 2010 the FBI is supposed to become involved with this case.

My mother is a strong, intelligent, vivacious woman who everyone loves and misses dearly. She has two young sons who live with her and are heartbroken by her disappearance. We all need her home safely. Please help us in our search!

Missing Clarkston woman's cell phone located

CLARKSTON - Police say they have found the cell phone belonging to Rachael Anderson, the woman from Clarkston who has been missing for 10 days..

"I understand that the public with the family and different friends have initiated a lot of searches for the cell phone and just so people know that we have recovered the cell phone," said Asotin County Sheriff's Office Captain Dan Hally. "We are just not in the position now where we can disclose where that was located, so for those that have been out looking, both the vehicle and what we believe is Rachael Anderson's cell phone have been recovered."

Hally is the lead investigator for the task force dedicated to finding Anderson. The task force is comprised of Asotin County and Latah County deputies, Clarkston, Lewiston and Moscow Police, along with assistance from the Nez Perce County Sheriff's Office.

"The task force continues to follow up on leads. We are continuing to look into possible locations and may be seeking additional search warrants, but as a group we are still tracking down information and talking to lots of different individuals who we believe may have some information," said Hally.

Late last week, the task force searched the SUV that Anderson was driving before her disappearance. It was found in North Lewiston last Wednesday near the Greyhound bus station. They have been reviewing surveillance images from the bus station.

Police said they also searched a building in Moscow last week, but will not identify the building or owner. Anderson is believed to have last been seen in Moscow on Friday the 16th.

"We understand the public desire, particularly with family and friends, that they want to know the details," said Hally. "But in order for us to do an investigation and protect the integrity of the investigation, that's something that we have to protect. We can't just give information out. We don't know exactly who may have been involved at this point. We have our ideas, but we have to really protect the integrity."

Hally said all available resources are being dedicated to the case and other local agencies may join the task force. He said the FBI has also been kept up to date on the investigation. He said the Asotin County prosecutors office is also working with the family.

"In these types of cases there is a lot of stress involved and uncertainty for the family, for the victims, and so part of what we do as well, is coordinate anything that we can do for resources for that family," said Hally. "As we understand, they have a lot of family coming in. This can be a financially difficult time for them and so part of what we are working on is to provide some resources for them as well."

Nancy Grace shows interest in missing woman case

The recent disappearance of a Clarkston woman has caught the attention of television personality Nancy Grace. Her people called the Tribune today to see if they could interview a reporter about the case for Grace’s show on CNN.
The family of Rachael Anderson has been sending e-mails to Grace, asking her to air the story on national television. They said today they have not yet heard from anyone connected to the show.
Anderson, a 40-year-old Clarkston mother of four, was last seen in Moscow, Idaho, on April 16. She was reported missing on April 19 by her two adult daughters after she failed to show up for work at the Pathologists Regional Laboratory in Lewiston.
She had not been in contact with her kids for a few days, which was highly unusual.
A task force has been formed to search for her, but authorities remain tight lipped about the investigation into Anderson’s disappearance. They have confirmed her cell phone and the vehicle she was last seen driving were located in Lewiston. Police have been searching a building in Moscow where Anderson was seen on the day she disappeared.

With all the stuff that happened before her disappearance, I can see media taking this and running with it. This is so scarey. With Jeremy Griess, it is entirely possible that he just needed to check out for awhile and like LE says, there's no crime in that.

The thought of the fear this women went through for 3 months before going missing, just send chills up my spine. CLARKSTON - Rachael Anderson of Clarkston has been missing for almost two weeks. Her family says they are not giving up hope.

"You go out and you think she's not that phone call away like she was two weeks ago," said her brother Robbie Anderson. "I cant just give her a call and say hi. It's not there. Still hopeful. Someday we want to do that again."

Robbie and several other out of town relatives are in Clarkston to support Rachael's kids and join in on the search.

"It's nice to have that support system,' said daughter Amber Griswold. "I don't think I could do it with out them at all."

Rachael's sister Crystal came from Wisconsin and spent the day Wednesday hanging flyers with other members of the family.

"We love her very much everybody loves her very much," said Crystal Anderson. "She is a very wonderful person. We've got our ups and downs, all of us. But we are trying to keep it together."

As the family hopes and prays for a safe homecoming, another sister of Rachael's flies in Wednesday.

"There has been a lot of family come out," said Robbie Anderson. "Some had to go and a lot of tears shed and some are coming back."

Rachael's nieces said the family is still in shock, but trying to take it one day at a time.

"You don't ever think it's going to happen to you and your family," said niece Jillian Anderson. "You watch it on TV all the time and you feel bad for those people and now we're standing in their shoes.

"She loves her kids and she has always been really good to everybody and we just miss her and want her to come home," said niece Dawn Johnston.

Daughter Ashley Colbert said she was afraid for her mom in the weeks leading up to her disappearance. Colbert said her mom would get calls every day and Colbert believes she was being watched.

"They would tell her things like 'oh I see your bathroom light's on' and stuff that you would have to be in front of the house to know," said Colbert.

Colbert said she doesn't know who was harassing her mom and that she is frustrated with the system.

"I've been there a few times when she was contacting the police," said Colbert. "The person was around her house and stuff and I would have to drive out there and she is hysterical on the phone and the police weren't there and when I go there, they finally got there like 20 minutes later. I would put money on the ex-husband knowing what happened to her. It ticks me off about the less than optimal response she would get from LE. I had a high school friend that went into LE after high school. He told me once that he hated to get DV calls and why. He said that by far those were the most dangerous and most unpredictable calls he would get. He said you couldn't dilly dolly around when you got a call like that. He said you move like it's a homicide, because if you don't get there right away, it just may be a homicide. On the personal side of it, he always wanted to get to those right away because he wanted to be able to protect any children that may be there witnessing. In that district at that time, they would send 2 units out for all DV calls. Is it apathy? Is it laziness? Is it too few officers for too much work and too big of areas?

I am livid that NG chose to air the fact that Sandra Bullock is divorcing and adopted a baby in Jan (which is awesome!) but as great as that is, it is NOT a crime, not about missing or murdered. She is an attention ho who only cares about Ratings!!!!! I would think she would air something about Rachael..even if it's for the five minutes she uses to show red-eyed and blurry pics of "the twins".

This ex sounds highly suspicious especially with this harassment charge being filed "recently".... Poor woman, wonder if she didn't seek protection from LE with all these scary incidents happening..

With Purpose and Lisette, YES the ex does seem highly suspicious and I read that his Shop was searched because that was the last place she was seen alive WTH? LE in this case is keeping really tight lipped and not releasing anything on a possible POI.

I can't believe how quickly people have put information together on this website. I used to live in the Lewiston/Clarkston area and was a close friend of Rachael's. She has 3 ex-husbands (hence the different last names - Anderson is her maiden name) and the most recent one (CC), who she filed for divorce from in January, but it doesn't appear that it was finalized yet. Her girls are from her first marriage, one of her sons is from her second marriage, the other is from the third marriage and she did not have any kids in her most recent marriage (CC.) The boys were with their father over the weekend and her daughters are over 18 and out of the house. The oldest has two daughters of her own. Lewiston, ID, Clarkston, WA and Moscow, ID are all in relative proximity of each other. Clarkston, WA is in Asotin County and Lewiston is in Nez Perce County. To people who live there, it is called the "Lewiston/Clarkston valley."

I would love to be optimistic and say things will end well in this situation, but I think the reality is that they won't. Rachael would never go this long without talking to her kids. She is a very good hearted person, who always wants to believe the best about everyone. I think her goodness is evidenced by all of the people that are coming out in support of her. I don't want to say anymore because I would never want to compromise the investigation, but I think the day they find her will be one of the saddest in my life to date. I am still hoping and praying, for her kids' sake and for the sake of her family, who loved her dearly. She was a fantastic mother.

So, if LE looks at the cell phone records for Rachel's phone that was found, they can see the numbers for the received calls and find out where they originate from.
