Kaine seems to be someone that keeps things inside instead of letting his emotions out...His change in appearance shows that he has been greatly affected by this tragedy...He has lost weight and looks very stressed.

Re: Thread #1 - Kyron Horman: Missing for 9 Months/ Desiree believes Kyron is dead/ Supporters put pressure on Terri
Desiree is definitely the more emotional one, but Kaine has been very involved in the effort to find his son! As for Terri, she shows no emotion (like Kaine), but has also shown no effort to try & find Kyron. Seeing she is being looked at suspiciously in the media, you would think that she would at least try & act concerned about Kyron - it just might help her! JMO
As for the birthday party w/o Kyron - that might have been their way of getting Terri to "crack" & confess. Or if she had hidden him somewhere (and he is still alive), maybe they were hoping that she would relent & let him back for the party. Unfortunately, I really don't think he is alive. So, in a sense, this party was more of a memorial for Kyron.

Sound quality very poor, listened for a pretty long time, all he is saying is that he cannot say anything because of fear of jeopardizing the investigation. This is all I got out of it, except for the hint I could hardly hear in the beginning which may have indicated the putting together of a new task force dedicated to this case?

Sheriff: Kyron Horman case in hands of task force

PORTLAND, Ore. -- Investigators on the case of missing Portland boy Kyron Horman said Wednesday they were shifting to a task force-style investigation.
Multnomah County Sheriff Dan Staton said they would be moving to a task-force, more like a "business plan," to better utilize resources in the case and release some in order to maintain the effectiveness of the department, in a news conference Wednesday afternoon.
Staton said there had been "significant movements" in the 15-week investigation and there was a more definitive scope, allowing them to not be as broad in their efforts, concentrating on their current course to support a theory of what happened to the boy. He said he had seen no evidence that indicated Kyron was not alive.
When asked if people would be shocked to find out what they know, Staton took a long silence.
"I know I'm taking a long pause on that, I have to think through that answer. I think there are things that come out of this investigation that will surprise you, that you'll think about later on when it's over. We have a knowledge of things we don't want to know about ... of things we wish we didn't know," he added.
He said investigators were focusing on selective targets in the case that focus would help "support a conclusion." Investigators need to close off possibly dead end tips in the case Staton labeled "frivolous."
Kyron disappeared from Skyline Elementary in NW Portland on June 4, sparking the largest search in Oregon's history. No suspects or persons of interest have been named the case.
Staton said he was briefed with details from prosecutors last Friday and felt comfortable proceeding on the course they were on.
"Our resources are limited and so are Portland's. Eventually you have to reach out for support and help," he said.
"I don't want the family to believe we are changing this investigation in any way, shape or form ... I think all the investigators involved believe there is going to be an outcome in this," Staton said.
"A lot of the things we looked at or suspected we no longer look at, we no longer suspect them," Staton said, referring to more than 3,000 tips taken in the case. "A number of the leads have been significant."
Staton said a big frustration was that all tips needed to be reviewed and documented, taking up a large part of their time.
"There are so many elements in this I can't even begin to comment on," Staton said. "To this date, I've had nothing that's come into me from ... detectives ... that would lead me to believe that we shouldn't proceed forward."
"We have hit a critical phase," Staton said, adding that not going to a task force model would critically affect the department's functionality.
He emphasized that they were not scaling back or moving to a cold-case type investigation. The FBI would remain active, along with Port of Portland Police, Portland Police, Fairview and Troutdale departments. Staton added that Multnomah County would play about a 30 percent role.
Possibly the end of the week or next week could see more details released as the task force consisting of between eight and ten members is in place.
Kaine Horman and Kyron's mother Desiree Young were set to appear on the Chicago set of the Oprah Winfrey show Thursday to tell their story.
An October 7 hearing is set for Kaine's divorce petition with Kyron's step-mother Terri Moulton-Horman. Terri has been a focus of investigators in the case and accused by Kaine and Desiree of concealing information.

That is puzzling TR....cops are looking for facts and if they have knowledge of facts of the case, that should be what they want to know, soooo what facts could they wish they didn't know thereby wishing what they know as fact is not fact. The only thing I can think of is that Kyron is no longer alive.

Yes, laga, and my take is that the facts that they know of are so horrendously ugly that they recoil from having to know them.laga wrote:That is puzzling TR....cops are looking for facts and if they have knowledge of facts of the case, that should be what they want to know, soooo what facts could they wish they didn't know thereby wishing what they know as fact is not fact. So, it makes me wonder. Has LE let on to the parents what the horrible facts are? If so, WAS the birthday party for Kyron truly a memorial? I cannot imagine throwing a birthday party for my missing child after 4 long months! But, then again...who knows what we would do if this happened to us?
Re: Thread #1 - Kyron Horman: Missing for 9 Months/ Desiree believes Kyron is dead/ Supporters put pressure on Terri
He is quick to point out that there is no evidence that the child is not alive. Therefore, it seems to me that they have uncovered some abusive situation surrounding this child, the facts of which they, as decent people, wouldn't want to know, or there is some suspicion that there was some goings on at the school with some other person that we are not aware of----all just speculation of course---or it may just be that they don't want to know the parents' sexual habits but that has come forward as a factor that someone has reported----who knows?---It might be something sordid, then again, he may have misspoken even though he said he was being very careful about his answers.Wrapitup wrote: So, it makes me wonder. Those are interesting statements by LE, and really raise more questions than answers! I hope that soon they will be able to clarify what exactly they know about Kyron & if Terri is a suspect or not. On the other hand, there must be a reason they are withholding that information. Either way, it doesn't sound good for poor little Kyron!

Kyron Horman's parents tell Oprah they believe their son is alive, being held captive
Published: Thursday, September 16, 2010, 4:57 PM Updated: Thursday, September 16, 2010, 5:31 PM
Lynne Terry, The Oregonian
The parents of Kyron Horman, who disappeared 15 weeks ago, told a national television audience Thursday that they remain convinced that their son is alive and being held captive.
Kaine Horman and Desiree Young, appearing on the Oprah Winfrey Show, said they also believe that Terri Moulton Horman, Kyron's stepmother, is involved in his disappearance.
"Ever since Kyron went missing, there has been so many things that we've found out and added up and all of it -- red flags," Young said.
The first one appeared soon after Kyron's disappearance June 4. Horman said his wife announced that she had failed her first polygraph test and then kept changing her story about what happened that morning after she dropped Kyron off at Skyline School.
"She would change her story daily, if not more than that," Horman said. " I mean, every time you talked to her, it was a little bit different."
The interview with Kaine Horman, wearing a Missing Kyron T-shirt and black slacks, and Young, in a brown dress pinned with a Missing Kyron button, was part of a three-segment program.
The show also featured interviews with two people held hostage by a gunman in the Discovery Channel's headquarters in Silver Spring, Md., at the beginning of this month -- and a segment with the family of Shaquan Duley, a South Carolina woman who faces charges of suffocating her two small children in August and then dumping them in a river.
An Oprah spokeswoman said that Thursday's show focused on prominent stories in the news. The program, now in its last season, airs on 215 stations in the United States and syndicated to 145 countries worldwide.
The mystery surrounding Kyron's disappearance and the family dyanmics have riveted national interest, with Kaine Horman and Young appearing on several national programs, including Dateline, Good Morning America and the Today show.
The Oprah Winfrey Show gave them one of their biggest audiences yet and came a day after the Multnomah County Sheriff's Office announced it was shifting its strategy. With costs topping $1 million, Sheriff Dan Staton said he's scaling back the investigation to a task force of eight to 10 detectives, compared to as many as 25 on any one day previously.
That decision was not mentioned in the interview, which was prefaced by a video montage of key moments in the case, including the alleged murder-for-hire plot and a warning by Young to Moulton Horman, who has not been charged or named as a suspect, that she risks jail time.
Speaking to Oprah, Young said her pleas have drawn silence from a woman she said was "upset that all these people think badly of her."
Young urged viewers to keep Kyron's story alive by posting fliers and wearing bracelets and buttons.
"Talk about Kyron," she said. "Just share with everybody you can."

On JVM last night some on the panel alluded to things
that might come out about all the parents. Again the thought of swingers or some kind of other sexual involvement of the adults is being hinted at but not in connection with Kyron or other children - only among adults. The Sheriff would not say that there are things
that they never wanted to know regarding what happened to Kyron. Thats impossible. Anything to do with Kyrons disappearance LE would want to know.
What things wouldnt he want to know? Perhaps the activities of the adults that are just an "aside" from the investigation of Kyron. Thats my theory as to what he meant anyway and its just my opinion.

Kyron Horman billboards being taken down

PORTLAND, Ore. -- For the past three months, Kyron Horman's photo has been a fixture on Metro area billboards. As the search for the missing boy stretches into its fourth month, those billboards have been gradually replaced in the past few weeks to make way for new advertising.
Clear Channel donated the billboard space and materials for 30 billboards back in June. The billboards went up all over town, written in Russian, Spanish and English, asking for help in finding Kyron Horman.
The Skyline Elementary student disappeared from school on June 4th and still hasn't been found.
For those who live and work near the billboards, Kyron's photo was a constant reminder of this heartbreaking case.
"Just looked at that and it just broke my heart, you know, thinking nobody can find him" said Barb Sloan, whose office window looked directly out at one of the billboards.
Not all of the billboards featuring Kyron have come down. At least a half-dozen of the billboards still stand, encouraging people to call with information about the missing boy.

Kyron no longer listed as Skyline student

PORTLAND, Ore. -- Kyron Horman was being dropped from the registry of students at Skyline Elementary.
Matt Shelby with the Portland School District confirmed the boy missing that's been missing for 15 weeks was dropped as a current student after Monday’s final bell. It is district policy to drop a student from the enrolled students list after they have missed 10 consecutive days.
Kyron was last seen at the school on June 4 before he disappeared without a trace. No suspects or persons of interest have been named in the case.
Last week, Multnomah County Sheriff Dan Staton said the case would be shifted to a task force-style investigation. Staton said there had been "significant movements" in the 15-week investigation and there was a more defined scope, allowing them to not be as broad in their efforts.
Investigators can now concentrate on their current course to support a theory of what happened to the boy. He said he had seen no evidence that indicated Kyron was not alive. Last week, Kyron's parents Kaine Horman and Desiree Young appeared on the Oprah Winfrey show to talk about the case.
An October 7 hearing date was set for Kaine and his attorneys to meet with estranged wife Terri Moulton-Horman in divorce proceedings. Terri has been the focus of the investigation since allegations she tried to hire a landscaper to kill Kaine. She was also the last person thought to have seen Kyron the morning he disappeared.

That is so sad! Having a young boy myself (close to Kyron's age)... I can't imagine what his parents must be going through!! He should be going into a brand new grade, having fun with his friends, and just enjoying being a kid! Instead, who knows where he is... or if he is even alive?!? I pray that soon there will be some answers.

I don't think they can keep his name on their rosters when he is not an attending student there. Tax money pays the schools and they cannot give inaccurate numbers.
Honestly I don't know how a "missing" student would fit into their scenario?

I know, you cannot blame the school system because they have to abide by rules. At least when he is found ( ) he can re enroll. I hope he is in hiding somewhere with a family member. Hard to imagine another deceased child, again and again. Has been a rough couple of years for the innocents in our country!lisamaree44 wrote:How sad being dropped from school list. You are right, our policy here is the same, 10 consecutive, unexcused days, they are dropped from the roster.. Would be hard to place him in a class, and every day the poor teacher puts him on the absent roll.jeanne1807 wrote:I don't think they can keep his name on their rosters when he is not an attending student there. Where do I search
I can't stand not knowing any longer. I wanna get out and search for him or clues. I live about 2hrs away but I am going out to look around. Where should I search? Any suggestions? I have heard old abandoned barns, also Sauvie island. Any advice, any one? Hey maybe this post will end up on the news when I find him tomorrow!

I believe this has become a "cold case". No news and what they had is mostly talked out.
With Kaine and Deseree saying "He's Alive" and the silence of Terri who will ever know if Kyron is alive or dead.
So many of these children just vanished into thin air.

I agree with Jeanne. I don't think Kyron will ever be found. Just as I think HaLeigh Cummings and many others in "Missing" will ever be found.
Whoever murdered Kyron made sure his body would be lost forever..just like little Haleigh.
annacanna, you strike me as someone who doesn't give up easily. I have no clue what to tell you as I am not familiar w/the area. All I can say is I hope you don't go alone and please be careful!!

Kyron Horman ~ Kaine Horman
I've gotten myself in deep doo doo all over the internet for this and still haven't gotten an answer. I feel a little more comfortable here, so hope I won't get banned for this.
My question is simple, why aren't people looking at Kaine Horman in connection to Kyron's disappearance? He has friends that vouch for his abliby, but he doesn't have any actual witnesses that he was at home all day. He could have easily walked into the school as Terri was leaving. Or maybe they worked together? They seem clearly less emotional than Desiree or her husband.
That was just a simple question I have, what happened when I asked it made me even more suspicious.
I asked it on one discussion board on facebook, and it was deleted and I was banned from the group. Never got an explanation as to why I was banned.
I asked it on another page and several people got involved with seeing more and more flaws, then it was deleted and the page admin messaged me saying she was threatened to be sued if she did not delete the post about Kaine.
I mentioned the question again in a comment on a news posting, and then got a private message from a guy claiming to work with Kaine, saying I was spreading lies about Kaine, and would have lawyers coming after me for defamation if I did not stop.
This is where I get myself into deep doo doo.... After I got that message, I was convinced that there is some kinda cover up going (I am not the conspiracy theory proned kinda person )
I thought, since I was questioning Kaine, maybe I could get some answers off the Terri Horman Support page. BIG MISTAKE! I mentioned that I didn't know wether I thought Terri did it, or was set up, but I was beginning to think more and more that Kaine was involved.
Well, I got chased out of that group because I thought Terri may be involved, but when I logged in this morning, I had 10 hate messages from people because I had joined the support page, and when I tried to ask a different question on the Kyron pages, I got told on every page, that I am not welcome there because I support Terri.
The truth is, I don't know if I support Terri. I was 100% against her, but I am beginning to think Kaine may be setting her up.
I guess all this goes to say, can some one tell me how we know with out a doubt, that Kaine is innocent?
I hope I don't get banned from here!

annacanna, I am not going to ban you. Let me first get that out of the way.
Did you come out and say point blank that you think Kaine is responsible for his son's disappearance, OR did you ask if it were possible and/or speculate?
We all have a right to our thoughts and I don't understand who would PM you saying they work for Kaine and can get you for defamation of character. If that were the case, Terri could file defamation on plenty of people. Give me a break here!!
I think unless or until Kyron is found dead or alive, we have really no clue what happened. Do we? Something doesn't sound right at all. Just my two cents.

Kyron search renews on Sauvie Island
By KATU News, KATU.com Staff and News Sources
Story Published: Oct 2, 2010 at 3:04 PM PDT Story Updated: Oct 2, 2010 at 7:03 PM PDT
PORTLAND, Ore. – The day after the mother of missing child Kyron Horman made a sudden and emotional plea for help to get the reward increased, searchers once again converged on an outer Northwest Portland island that has been a focal point of the search since the 7 year old's disappearance.
Multnomah County Sheriff’s Public Information Officer Lt. Mary Lindstrand confirms that search and rescue teams from eight Portland-area agencies are conducting a search on Sauvie Island for Kyron Horman, the now-8-year-old boy believed to have gone missing after being dropped off at Skyline Elementary School on June 4.
Lindstrand stressed this search “is not the result of any new leads but the sheriff’s desire to be thorough in their investigation.”
UPDATE: Lindstrand said more than 600 search-and-rescue personnel participated in Saturday’s search. The island search will continue through the weekend.
Nearly 12,000 acres of the island are undeveloped, serving as the Sauvie Island Wildlife Area. The island is surrounded or dotted by water features, including Sturgeon Lake, Johnson Lake, Halderman Pond and Wagonwheel Hole. In June The Willamette Week newspaper, citing anonymous police sources, reported that cell phone records show Terri Horman was on the island June 4.
Outside help has arrived
After spending more than a million dollars looking for Kyron, the Multnomah County Sheriff's Office called for outside help Sept. 15. Sheriff Dan Staton said Multnomah County detectives would make up 30 percent of the new search team and outside agencies would provide the rest.
This Oct. 2 search follows a hastily organized press conference on Friday by Kyron’s mother, Desiree Young, who wants donors to help raise the reward offered for her son’s safe return to at least $350,000. That's the amount Kyron's stepmother reportedly texted a friend saying she had paid to hire her criminal attorney. The reward stood at around $50,000 on Friday.
KATU Reporter Margy Lynch was the first reporter on the scene Saturday, covering what could be the largest search and rescue effort since the first search sweep for Kyron after his June 4 disappearance. Sauvie Island is about 15 miles north of Skyline School where Kyron attended second grade and is believed to have disappeared from a morning science fair. The road from Skyline School to Sauvie Island, Northwest Cornelius Pass Road, also has been the focus of renewed searches in this case.
There has been no sign of Kyron for 17 weeks.

Recently-developed information led investigators to conclude there were areas of Sauvie Island that needed to be examined--and in some cases, reexamined--in greater detail.

Please join me in praying that this search will lead to closure or to important evidence in the disappearance of little Kyron!

annacanna to tell you the truth I have no idea who did what to whom.
I will say this. Kaine has been in the spotlight. He has pleaded for his sons return. He has attended benefits and made appearances on Kyrons behalf.
Terri on the other hand has hired a high profile attorney and has said or done nothing to help bring Kyron home.
Then too we have the accusation that she tried to hire somebody to kill Kaine Horman.
It is a very baffling case and I too find the lines are clearly drawn as far as whose side most blogs and people are on.
I asked a question or two that seemed favorable to Terri way back when and almost got my head blown off.
So I know what you are speaking of. At this point..we just don't know anything.

Absolutely not Wrap. My question was when I was reading their newspaper I think it is called The Oregon. They had a big chat session going and I asked my question there. Wow they are anti Terri from day one. Very little sympathy there.
And what makes me ponder is that question I asked was way back when Kyron first went missing.
Nobody here has every treated a poster or blogger asking a question badly. Never.

Of course I will join you in prayer, but I have to say that Kaine and Terri would have to be living in Fantasy Land if they think this search on Sauvie Island would produce a live Kyron.
At this point, he needs to be found dead or alive..just as HaLeigh Cummings and so many others.

If I would just follow the forum rules and provide a link..sigh. Sorry everybody "I shoulda known better".
Anyway this is the link to the newspaper I was kind of following the story in the beginning. I am not sure which way the tide is turning but it looks like lots of comments if you are interested in reading them.
http://www.oregonlive.com/portland/index.ssf/2010/10/desiree_young_pleads_for_contr.html
I see Deserree is pleading for more money for Kyrons reward. I am not sure about that. I guess I would ask is she and Tony or Kaine matching any of those funds?
If it was my child I would put up everything I own to get my child back. $50,000 is the reward. Anybody know where those funds are coming from.

I believe the reward money comes from anonymous donors. Anna your fine posting your thoughts and feelings here on VH. I do believe Terry is responsible for what ever happened to Kyron. Everything points to her. See I had no idea Kaine was home that whole day. This is the first time I have heard that. Well shame on him for not going to school with his Son that day if that is the case. I have some bitter angry words for Kaine but they have nothing to do with Kyron disappearance. I have been a bitter towards him since I heard Desiree was late in to her pregnancy when Kaine decided things were not going well and he ran out to find a girl friend as fast as he could. That pisses me off. I happen to personally know a punk like that. So yeah I don't like Kaine very much.

Well I went over and read the comments on the Oregonian and they seem to be mostly fighting with one another.
Strange they did mention what I said above. What have the bio parents put on the line as far as a reward. They also seem to think Terri is a dead issue. She isn't talking and LE need to look elsewhere.
Some seem a bit tired of this Terri hunt and wish they would explore different avenues.
LM Kaines movements on the day of the disappearance have always been kept pretty hush hush.
I have said from day one "Why was Terri there at what has been called a big day for Kyron and no bio's were able to attend?" Oh right..they worked.
One poster did mention that CeCe's father was LE. I had not heard that before.
My daughter takes off for every important day in her childrens lives. She take off on their birthdays to spend that special day with them and if they have something special at school she is there. All of my children have always put their children first.
I have never heard "I have to work and can't make it!"

Kaine said the last time he saw Kyron was at about 7:45 a.m. the day he disappeared. Kyron had just finished feeding the family’s cat, Bootsie, and was returning to the house:
“I walked over to him, told him I was extremely proud of him for the effort he put into his red-eyed tree frog project, and for him to have a great and fun day at the science fair,” Kaine wrote. “We talked about maybe going for a special treat and playing the Wii after school, and then I said ‘I love you’. He said ‘I love you too, Dad’, at which point we hugged, and then he went into the house as I got into the car and left.”
He wrote that he arrived back home at about 2 p.m. and worked until about 3:30 from his home office. He then walked down to Kyron’s bus stop with Terri and their 19-month-old daughter, Kiara.

I have been searching, but I cannot find it right now...I am sure that it was proven that Kaine was at work from 9:00 until about 1:30...He left early and worked at home until time to go to the bus stop. I remember him talking about Terri being on her laptop and Kiara playing in her room alone when he got home. (I particularly remember this because I thought about what mother would be on a laptop in another room while an 18-month-old was left alone playing in another room.) This is all from memory, but I am sure that it was posted in early reports about the disappearance.
Thanks, BJ, you posted while I was searching....

annacanna are you close to where Kyron was abducted. Of course we would love to know that tip. Hopeing of course that Kyron would be found before all evidence is destroyed.
What exactly is your position? I am just being curious. Are you a friend of any of them? A neighbor?
I guess desparation draws all these questions out of me. Sorry if I am being impolite in asking.

Kaine Horman: Please be patient about Kyron case

With Monday marking four months since seven-year-old Kyron Horman disappeared from school, searchers returned to Sauvie Island for a second straight day, hoping to find a clue to the question of what happened to the boy.
While the search was going on, Kyron’s father Kaine, has a message for the public anxious for resolution through an arrest -- please be patient. He also wanted to clear up a misunderstanding about a plea made Friday by Kyron's mother, Desiree Young.
"I know it sounds weird coming from his father," he said, "but this is something that can’t be rushed.”
Kaine waited for his daughter Kiara to take a nap and then took some time out from his Sunday to talk over the phone with KGW.
“I know people want an arrest. I know they want this thing to move along but what people need to remember is that the minute there is an arrest, the minute there are charges, the clock starts ticking and no one can afford to make a mistake.
“If we’re not ready, if there are holes, that would be tragic. We can’t afford to let whoever was responsible to get away with it.
“We have to be patient.”
Kaine said he continues to be briefed regularly on the status of the investigation and is satisfied with the way things are going. He was glad to see searchers out on Sauvie Island again this weekend.
“They are working very hard on checking everything out, ruling out everything possible and making sure nothing is missed.”
Asked about the emotional press conference that his ex-wife, Desiree, held at the Wall of Hope on Friday, Kaine said “I understand her raw emotion. It shows how deeply felt this is for all of us. I don’t necessarily feel or believe the exact same things but I absolutely understand it. It’s been four months. He’s still not home. We still don’t know where he is. We want him to come home. We want to know where he is.”
Kaine did say that Desiree’s press conference did do one thing that was unintended – cause confusion.
Her plea for more money for the reward fund has triggered an increase in donations to the search and rescue fund. The problem is that there isn’t currently a mechanism for money from the search and rescue fund to be transferred over to the reward.
So, Kaine said, in the meantime, people can continue to give to the search and rescue fund or wait until there is a way to donate to the reward.
The key, he said, in all regards is “patience.”

Re: Thread #1 - Kyron Horman: Missing for 9 Months/ Desiree believes Kyron is dead/ Supporters put pressure on Terri
On this balmy Sunday, searchers were instructed not to talk to the media or discuss their tactics. However, we did overhear one searcher with a dog – one of five dogs sniffing over Sauvie Island Sunday – say "Bones, we're looking for bones."
However, no one within the investigation will confirm what it is they're exactly looking for. They will only confirm there aren't any new tips making them spend the weekend searching this water-riddled island.
"By following up on and being thorough here we are getting closer," said Lt. Mary Lindstrand with the Multnomah County Sheriff's Office. "I can't give you any specifics on when there will be a resolution, but it's steps. Step by step and we've got to make sure we get all those steps and be as thorough as possible."
While investigators can't say what searchers are looking for on Sauvie Island, it's obvious some piece of information – new or old – made them reassemble the largest search for Kyron we've seen in weeks.

Sauvie Island searcher: 'Bones, we're looking for bones'
For the second day in a row more than 100 searchers combed an island north of Skyline School where Kyron is believed to have disappeared nearly four months ago.
This marks the largest Kyron-related search we've seen in weeks – with Monday being exactly four months since Kyron was driven to school by his stepmother Terri and then disappeared.
Searchers spent both Saturday and Sunday on foot, and sometimes using dogs, horses or even ATVs all over the island. Investigators had the Sauvie Island school doubling as a command post as the headed up a search they do not expect to last past the weekend.

Fund-raising tally rises
On Friday, Kyron's mother Desiree Young remained confident then that Kyron was still alive. (Watch the press conference.)
"He's out there," Young told news cameras on Friday. "We just need to bring him home."
She made a public plea asking for anyone to come forward with information, and she asked for the public to help raise the reward that's currently at $50,000.
As of Sunday, The Oregonian reported that $85,500 had been raised for Kyron-related efforts. Our assignment desk editor spoke to Desiree Young by phone Sunday afternoon.
Young tells us the fund raising breaks down to nearly $30,000 in a fund maintained by the Multnomah County Sheriff's Office for search-and-rescue and investigation costs. In an interview with KATU Reporter Anna Canzano in September, Multnomah County Search and Rescue Coordinator Diana Olson identified this fund as a Bank of America account.
As of early September, none of the sheriff's Bank of America fund had been spent. At the time Sgt. Olson said it had not been determined whether the sheriff's office account would go toward reimbursing search and rescue costs that had already been incurred. It has since been decided that $8,000 of that fund will go to search and rescue costs, with the rest going into the sheriff's office general fund for investigation expenses, according to The Oregonian's Sunday report.
The reward fund reportedly was seeded by a $50,000 anonymous donation. Young tells us all reward-money donations are being handled by the sheriff’s office.
Young also said the Kyron Horman Foundation has received more than $8,000 to date from fundraisers and the sales of T-shirts and wrist bands. That foundation is organized by Young and her husband, Tony Young, along with Kyron's father Kaine Horman.
"It continues to be overwhelming the amount of people that show their support and are doing things for him," said Kyron's father Kaine Horman in a September KATU interview. "It's incredible."
Inmates repeatedly step forward
Also giving toward the cause was a group of inmates at the Oregon State Penitentiary in Salem. They raised more than $500, according to The Oregonian's report.
"Every dollar helps," Young told us by phone. "And here are prisoners who came up with an innovative way to help find Kyron.”
This is not the first time inmates at the Oregon State Penitentiary have gathered up funds to keep a child's memory, or in this case his search, alive. In January the story of a 2-year-old girl hit by a truck and killed in a Salem parking lot touched the hearts of prisoners at the state pen, who raised enough to ensure her a proper gravestone.
