Message Appears on Missing Girl’s, Jessica Smith's, Facebook Page / Jessica found safe! JessicaSmith

FORT WORTH, Texas - Police nationwide are still searching for the missing 11-year-old who was allegedly abducted by her mother four days ago. But messages that appeared online Friday have family members hopeful.

Fort Worth police confirm they are investigating activity on Jessica Smith’s Facebook page.

A message posted at about 3 p.m. said, “Everyone I'm fine you all can stop worrying about me. Just stop trying to contact me. I'm just done. I'm done with everyone."

Later the message, "Noo!! Guys it's really me! Just remember I'm safe I'll be home soon.. And thanks for all the support! :)" was added to the page.

Police said they are trying to determine who posted the messages and who has access to the girl’s account.

Jessica and her mother Kimberly Smith disappeared late Monday or early Tuesday from their home in north Fort Worth. That was after family members said Smith threatened to hurt Jessica on Monday night.

An Amber Alert was issued because police said they believe Jessica is in grave danger. They said Smith has a history of mental illness and has in the past threatened to commit suicide and injure her children.

Anyone with information about Jessica’s whereabouts is still encouraged to call 911.

She is described as being 5 feet 1 inch tall and weighing approximately 120 pounds. She has brown eyes and straight brown hair that is just past shoulder-length. She wears glasses but might not have them on, police said.

Her mother is described as being 5 feet 2 inches tall and weighing about 150 pounds. She has brown hair and brown eyes and has a tattoo of a cross on the back of her neck, along with a decorative tattoo on her back.

They may be in a Silver Mazda CX-9 with Texas plates BMZ-390. The sport utility vehicle has tinted windows and a pink and green Harley Davidson decal on the rear window.

Message Appears on Missing Girl’s, Jessica Smith's, Facebook Page / Jessica found safe! Empty essica Smith found safe in New Mexico

Post by raine1953 Thu Mar 08, 2012 4:05 pm

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — Eleven-year-old Jessica Smith and her mother, Kimberly were located in their vehicle, nine miles south of Tres Piedras, New Mexico, an area on the edge of Carson National Forest, according to a release from Fort Worth police — 550 miles from home.
"It is with great joy and satisfaction to announce that the nationwide search that began on Tuesday, February 7,2012, has been canceled," the police statement said.
"The deputies spotted that car about nine miles south of U.S. 64 and U.S. 285 near the Carson National Forest," said KOAT reporter Liz McKernan in Taos, New Mexico. "We are told that they were a little bit lethargic, but that Jessica herself was in very good spirits, and obviously very happy to be found."
Authorities said a deputy spotted Jessica and her mother along the remote highway about 30 feet off the pavement. They appeared to be very exhausted and hungry. Both were transported to a Taos hospital to be checked out.
According to police, Jessica did not appear to physically injured, but Kimberly Smith was described as being "out of it."
"The ambulance pulled up and we were able to get video of mom getting admitted into the emergency room," McKernan said.
"They are okay" confirmed Caitlin Fields, the victim's sister. "Thanks to everyone for all the support."
Tom Pappas, the attorney for Jessica's father Phillip Smith, released this statement Sunday evening: "Phillip wants to thank everyone for all the prayers and efforts that they made for his daughter's safe return."
Kimberly Smith will be extradited to Fort Worth on two felony warrants, aggravated assault and endangering a child. The warrants were issued after the investigation showed "acts of violence" took place, police said.
Neighbors of the Smith family were overjoyed to learn that Jessica and her mom were both safe.
"I would tell her that I was praying for her, and I was hoping she'd come back, and she did," said Jessica's friend Katy Chitwood.
Tammy Vu and Caitlyn Stanley tied yellow ribbons on and around the Smith home, which also has a sign that reads: "God bless Jessica."
"We thank everyone involved with the successful mission with this child abduction investigation as well as the apprehension of Kimberly Smith," the police statement said. "If not for the actions of the school officials, witnesses, reporting parties, along with the coordinated efforts of our law enforcement partners combined with the public and our media partners, this unfortunate sensitive and complicated investigation would not have ended with such a positive outcome."

Court docs reveal night before Jessica Smith went missing

DALLAS - Court documents reveal the events that may have led up to the Amber Alert for 11-year-old Jessica Smith.

The affidavits were filed as exhibits in the on-going divorce between the girls parents, Kimberly and Phillip Smith.

Step-sister Myranda Fields signed a sworn statement that she heard Jessica and Kimberly fighting Monday night. She said Kimberly had trapped the girl in a closet. The document says Jessica screamed that her "mom was going to kill her" and that her mom had a knife. That poor child!!

Myranda went on to say she separated the two, only to find the mom possibly "choking her."

A second affidavit was signed by a counselor at Parkwood Hill Intermediate. She said Jessica was in group counseling with her mom's permission.

She said on Monday, Jessica told her the "story was made up." Jessica told the counselor she "was not molested by her dad." The counselor said the girl was told to read the story every night on her iPhone, so she could repeat it to a judge.

Phillip Smith faces charges for sexual assault of a child. His attorney says it was based on a false outcry. Tom Pappas told News 8 the investigation will vindicate his client and explain the motives behind the Amber Alert.

He said Jessica was expected to be placed with grandparents while the investigation continues.

Kimberly Smith is in a New Mexico jail facing extradition to Texas. She is accused of child assault and endangerment.

Kimberly and Jessica were found Sunday near Carson National Forest after a five-day search.

Disturbing details emerge in Jessica Smith kidnap case

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — Jessica Smith is now home with family in Fort Worth. The eleven-year-old arrived Monday night and police said she is in good condition.
Her mother, Kimberly Smith, appeared at an hearing in New Mexico Tuesday morning at which she waived extradition back to Texas.
Affidavits reveal the girl told a counselor that her mother was trying to make her lie and say her father had molested her.
That's when Jessica disappeared, sparking a frantic search nationwide Amber Alert and search.
Newly-released legal paperwork includes some very disturbing revelations. Jessica told officials at the hospital that her mother tried to kill her. The 11-year-old had a bite mark on her chest, and the report says when Kimberly was unable to take her life, she tried to get her daughter to kill herself by cutting her wrists.
Hospital workers in New Mexico said the child had scratches on her wrist, but they were unable to determine the source of the scratches.

On Sunday, a trooper found mother and daughter in a car on a roadside in a remote stretch of northern New Mexico. Kimberly was crying, telling the officer the pair hadn't eaten in days. Apparently she was melting snow for them to drink.
"That's a big indicator that they're already in survival mode," said New Mexico State Police Trooper Mark Sandoval. "They had been probably out of food and out of water."
Jessica was wearing sweat pants and flip-flops. Trooper Sandoval said she looked relieved to see him.
For now, Jessica will remain in protective custody.
Kimberly Smith remains in the custody of New Mexico authorities. Fort Worth police have 30 days to return her to Texas.

FORT WORTH, Texas -
The Fort Worth woman charged with kidnapping her own daughter and taking her to New Mexico was a no-show in court Thursday.

Kimberly Smith bonded out of jail Monday. She is charged with an aggravated kidnapping that prompted a nationwide Amber Alert in February.

Police said she used a knife to threaten her 11-year-old daughter Jessica and then tried to suffocate her. She then took off with the girl and was on the run for nearly a week.

A state trooper ultimately found them in northern New Mexico. They were stranded in the snow with little food and water.

Kimberly Smith was due in family court for a divorce hearing, but neither she nor her attorney showed up.

An attorney for Phillip Smith, her estranged husband and Jessica's father, testified he sent several certified letters about the hearing to her, including one that was delivered to her while she was in jail.

After waiting for about an hour, the judge finalized the couples' divorce and awarded Phillip Smith full custody of Jessica. Kimberly Smith also will not be allowed to visit her daughter at this time.

"There's still a long road, still a lot of other court dates and things that need to be addressed on the other side of this, and I'm just here to support my daughter," Phillip Smith said.

He said his daughter is adjusting well and moving forward.

Kimberly Smith is due in court again on June 13 for the criminal case.

Fort Worth mom accused of kidnapping daughter appears in court
Posted on August 1, 2012

FORT WORTH - The Fort Worth mother accused of kidnapping her own daughter last February appeared in court today.
Kimberly Smith, 42, was in the Tarrant County Jail since February, when she was arrested for kidnapping her 11-year-old daughter and driving her to New Mexico. She paid a portion of her $75,000 bond and was released Monday.
Smith was required to be in court as her lawyer filed motions in her upcoming trial. She looked very different from the night police found her and her daughter in New Mexico hungry and exhausted.
The mother was charged with aggravated kidnapping. According to court documents, a witness claimed Smith tried to suffocate her daughter by stuffing a rag into her throat the night before the two vanished.
Affidavits also revealed the girl told a counselor that her mother was trying to make her lie and say her father had molested her.
Smith and her husband were in the midst of a contentious divorce.
Smith refused to talk with News 8 as she left the courtroom.
