Exactly. Most criminals are stupid. Sometimes I wonder if it's harder to trace their moves because of it. I mean, a smart person kinda thinks, "nah, he wouldn't put her by his mom's house".

Look at Casey Anthony. Precious Caylee was laying not far from a road less than a mile from the house for months. Casey's lies were as stupid as hell. And, she ain't paying for it (from a justice point of view). Hoping for better for Hailey, if she's deceased.

BTW, Texas got hit HARD last night w/rain and flooding. That area had about 6". I am just wondering if the remains were "buried", did the rain (floods) bring up the remains? I keep wondering WHY, if this is Hailey (and I think it is) she was never found after a year and a half until now. Again, IF this is Hailey. If it's not, we're back to square one, but the fact that Billie has not gotten in touch w/anyone speaks VOLUMES!

Many viewers called KTXS Thursday after seeing searchers on private property near the airport.

The tip involved dreams, but no matter how far fetched, Roy Owens, chief of Colorado City Police, said authorities check into all tips about missing teen Hailey Dunn.

Ya, I remember that now. I doubt the body was moved as of late as it would be completely skeletonized. I have often wondered just How tenacious the local LE gang was on these searches, and WHY SA has never been brought up on child porn charges. Good ole boys is the ONLY thing that comes to mind.

Found this update, but don't know how reliable it is. A "source" says the remains were found in a trash bag. Unnamed source and the author misspells "Adkins", so take it for what it's worth. It is a local report.

On Tuesday, workers at the Big Spring airport discovered human remains laying in an open field. The man who found the remains declined to speak on camera but did tell reporters he thought the remains belonged to a child.

A source tells KAMC the remains were found inside a trash bag.

Although no official connection has been made between the remains and Hailey Dunn, the DPS Ranger in charge of investigating Dunn's disappearance was called to the scene at the airport.

Sources tell us the remains are likely Hailey Dunn's.

Connie Jones, the grandmother of Hailey Dunn, says she hasn't been contacted by law enforcement about the remains found near the McMahon-Wrinkle airport in Big Spring Tuesday afternoon.

She adds she's still hopeful her granddaughter will be found safely.

"I really can't tell you exactly how I feel. I want her to be found alive but still we need some closure to just get on with everything," Jones said.

The girl's grandmother says she hasn't heard from either of Hailey's parents, Clint or Billie Dunn.

KTAB was unsuccessful at reaching Billie Dunn or Clint Dunn, but they were able to reach Hailey's grandmother, Connie Jones. She has not spoken with either Billie nor Clint. However, although she hopes it is not Hailey, she is hoping for some sort of closure. Shawn Adkins' mother refused to be interviewed about the findings, which was a little less than 2 miles from her home.

The Wasson Road address is the closest to where the remains were found but all of the other possible addresses are very close as well.

If the remains are Haileys, the trash bag would explain why the trunk of the car produced no evidence.
When Shawn went to work that morning then left, all he had to do was dump the trash bag.
As for as placing the body near his mother's residence, I have believed from day one, Shawn wasn't that bright, just extremely lucky.
Hopefully, his luck has run out.


I also believe Shawn was the delivery boy. Billie is the one to blame for Hailey being gone. No mother is going to protect a B/F that did something horrible to her child.

Human remains have been discovered in a pasture 40 miles from Colorado City, Texas, where 13–year-old Hailey Dunn disappeared more than a year ago.

Authorities in Big Spring, Texas, confirmed that human remains were found near the McMahon Wrinkle Airpark Tuesday afternoon. The airpark is about one mile from the home of the mother of Shawn Adkins, Hailey Dunn's mother's boyfriend at the time of her disappearance, and the only named person of interest in the case.

Det. Sgt. Tony Everett said the remains appeared to have been there "for a long period of time," according to the San Angelo Standard Times. Everett said an FBI evidence recovery team from Dallas is expected to process the scene this morning.

No official connection has been made between the remains found Tuesday and Hailey Dunn.

Adkins, who was 25 at the time of the girl's disappearance, was called one of several people of interest in January 2011 by investigators in Colorado City. He was the live-in boyfriend of her mother, Billie Dunn, but the couple is reportedly no longer together in the aftermath of Hailey's disappearance.

Adkins was the last person to see the 13-year-old cheerleader Dec. 27, 2010. Dunn, 33, reported her daughter's disappearance the next day.

Both Dunn and Adkins failed polygraph exams during the initial investigation into Hailey Dunn's disappearance. Billie Dunn took a lie detector test twice, and the first test ended prematurely when investigators discovered she was under the influence of narcotics. The second exam indicated that she had been deceptive, according to the affidavit.

Adkins took three polygraph exams. The first two times he walked out of the room before the test was completed. The third time he was found to be deceptive during the first part of the exam.

During the second stage of the exam, Adkins revealed that Hailey might be in Scurry County, Texas. Investigators deemed him to be telling the truth. When pressed about a more precise location for the girl, Adkins refused to complete the test, according to the affidavit.

Investigators said that Adkins has given contradictory statements about the day Hailey disappeared.

Adkins also told investigators that he was fired from his job the day Hailey disappeared. Adkins worked for a company that does oil well casing and logging. His boss, however, told investigators that he wasn't fired, but abruptly left work minutes after showing up, according to the affidavit.

Adkins told investigators that he drove straight to his mother's home in Big Spring, Texas. Cell phone records show Adkins making calls from Dunn's home between 6:35 a.m. until 6:56 a.m., the court papers state.

Dunn left for work as a receptionist at a hospital at 6:20 a.m.

"According to all reports, Hailey Dunn would have been alone in the residence during this time period," the affidavit said.

Adkins eventually went to the home of his mother and used her computer. That computer has been taken as evidence, the affidavit said.

On the evening of Hailey's disappearance, Dunn and Adkins reportedly withdrew money from two banks to buy drugs, according to the affidavit.

There are also claims that the couple had a New Year's party, just days after the 13-year-old girl disappeared, according to the affidavit.

Dunn denied that, telling the Associated Press that just a few friends came over for drinks.

Dunn told the Associated Press that she had nothing to do with her daughter's disappearance. She said that she asked Adkins to move out Jan. 5.

Records show that police were called to Dunn's home in February 2010 after Adkins threatened to hurt Billie and Hailey Dunn.

IF this is Hailey, it will be interesting to see if clothing was found in the bag with the remains. If not, did the suspect place the clothes in the dumpster near the hotel where the dogs found her scent? And, did they find any clothing during the landfil searches?

Remains found near where Hailey Dunn, Texas cheerleader, went missing (VIDEO)


Human remains were discovered near Big Spring police airport 40 miles from Colorado City, Texas, where 13–year-old Hailey Dunn disappeared over one year ago, according to news reports.

Workers discovered the remains in the 2500 block of Apron Drive around 2:30 p.m., the San Angelo Standard-Times reported. The location is near the McMahon Wrinkle Airpark.

The Standard-Times cited Detective Sgt. Tony Everett as saying that the remains appeared to have there "for a long period of time," and neither the age nor the gender of the deceased could be determined.

According to an affidavit obtained by the Reporter-News in January 2011, Shawn Adkins, the boyfriend of Dunn's mother, told officials he went to his mother's home in Big Spring after leaving work in Snyder the morning of Dec. 27, 2010, the day Hailey was last seen.

Adkins' mother's home is about a mile from the area where police indicated human remains were discovered Tuesday.

ABC News reported in January 2011 that Dunn was scared of Adkins, and said he would stand in the doorway of her bedroom at night watching her.

"Hailey did not like him. She was afraid of him and she didn't want him there," Hailey's paternal grandmother, Connie Jones, told ABCNews.com.

No connection to the missing Colorado City teen Hailey Dunn had been made by officers, reports said.

An FBI evidence recovery team from Dallas was to process the scene Wednesday morning.

Five people who are missing were last seen in Big Spring, according to the Texas Department of Safety missing persons database, with foul play suspected in two of the cases.

BIG SPRING, Texas -- The remains found in Big Spring were described late Wednesday morning as a “partially mummified skeleton” that was partially buried in a grassy area.

This information came in an 11:30 a.m. news conference held by Sgt. Tony Everett, the public information officer of Big Spring Police Department.

Everett spoke to several media reporters in Big Spring near the scene where remains were discovered Tuesday.

He refused to describe the size of the skeletal remains, and he refused all questions concerning whether the case is related to the disappearance of Colorado City teenager Hailey Dunn.

He also refused to state whether any additional artifacts were found at the scene, such as clothing or other items.

However, Everett called the area a crime scene.

Reporters asked so many questions concerning the Hailey Dunn case that Everett appeared to become irritated at times. He steadfastly refused to speculate at all about whether the remains could be the missing teenager from Colorado City.

Everett pointed out that there are two active missing person cases in Big Spring: Bobby Marquez and Arling Bynum. Little information was immediately available about these two cases. However, Everett said that Bynum has been missing since 2003.

Concerning the property where the remains were found, Everett said the area was previously owned by a limestone company and that a lot of poured concrete is on the site. However, the remains were discovered in a dirt and grassy area.

The property at that time did not have a fence around it, as it does now, and Everett said the area would have been open to access by any number of people.

KTXS News has also learned that two Colorado City police officers are at the scene assisting in the investigation.

The FBI, Department of Public Safety, the Texas Rangers and the Big Spring Police Department are also working at the crime scene.

Mummified. Does that mean there is tissue? If the remains were completely skeletonized, they wouldn't say "mummified". This gives me hope that they w/be able for find a cause of death and make an arrest.

I'm not sure I saw the whole press conference...Some of the things stated in the article above, I did not hear. For instance, I heard him say that he wasn't sure when the limestone company changed hands, that it did have a fence and gate, but it was probably not impossible to get in. He wasn't sure when the fence and gate were put up. That's what I heard anyway. If you go to street view on google maps for American Limestone Company, 2515 Apron Drive, Big Spring, TX, you can see the fence and gate at the back...It is actually on 1st Street that runs at the back of the property. The fence and gate look to me like they have been there for awhile. It shows the gate opened. Seems like he would have been taking a big risk of being seen if he placed her there that morning, during the daytime, especially if he tried to bury her...

During a live feed, I overheard a person (possibly a reporter) stating blanket and clothes.
Not sure if she was talking about the items being found with the remains or not. But just seemed strange to be talking about it if not.

Mummified body:
1. The dead body of a human or animal that has been embalmed and prepared for burial, as according to the practices of the ancient Egyptians.
2. A withered, shrunken, or well-preserved body that resembles an embalmed body.

I must say that after seeing those video's of SA and his minion idots doing those horrible "dances" or whatever the hay they were, I put nothing past him. Between that and the child porn and the fact that this body is in Big Springs and his cell records SHOW he was in Big Springs, a mile from his dear mommy, one has to surmise this is Hailey.

I just looked up the two in Big Springs that have been missing for years, Bobby Marquez and Arling Bynum. They are Both adults.

It was stated upthread the hand of a "child" was found, so this has to be Hailey.

There we go, this report says they DID get into a fight the night before she went missing.

Authorities have not confirmed the identity of anyone concerning the remains, and officials said identification could take up to a week.
Jenkins said Billie Dunn told her that Billie still hopes that Hailey will be found alive. But, Billie told her, that if this is Hailey, then she wants justice to be done. Jenkins said Billie wants whoever did this to come forward and make things easier.
Jenkins pointed out that the crime scene is located only about one mile from the home of Shawn Adkins’ mother – the location Adkins told authorities he went on the day that Hailey Dunn disappeared on Dec. 27, 2010.
Jenkins said: “It would be ignorant if people did not consider that.” She said, however, she was not going to judge anyone.
Adkins told law enforcement officials, in an affidavit obtained by KTXS News last year, that he left his workplace in Snyder shortly after arriving there at 6 a.m. on Dec. 27, 2010, then drove straight to Big Spring.
Cell phone records, however, indicate that Adkins cell phone pinged a tower in the area of the Dunn family home in Colorado City soon after he left his work. According to the affidavits, his cell hone pinged the Colorado City cell tower from 6:35 to 6:56 a.m., while Hailey Dunn was believed to be home alone at her house.

Has Hailey Dunn’s body been found?

Human remains found near a small Texas airport Tuesday could be those of a Colorado City teen who has been missing for more than a year.

13-year-old Hailey Dunn was reported missing on Dec. 28, 2010. She had last been seen at home the day before by her mother’s boyfriend, Shawn Adkins, who police have labeled a person of interest in her disappearance. No charges have been filed in connection with the case.

Police confirmed Wednesday that remains had been discovered at an industrial park near McMahon-Wrinkle Airport in Big Spring. The area is about 40 miles from Colorado City, but it is close to the home of Adkins’ mother. It is also in the general area where pings from Adkins’ cell phone were detected on Dec. 27, according to search warrant affidavits.

Workers from a tank building company came across the remains in a grassy area, and Big Spring Police Sgt. Tony Everett described what was found as a “partially mummified skeleton,” according to KTXS. Everett would not discuss the size of the skeleton or how long investigators believe it had been there.

One of the men who found the remains told KTAB that the body was decomposed but he thought he saw a child’s hand.

Adkins’ attorney, Alex Eyssen, told HLN that he and Hailey’s mother, Billie Dunn, returned to the Colorado City area when they learned of Tuesday’s discovery. He said they have not been contacted by law enforcement about it.

An FBI evidence recovery team was processing the scene Wednesday morning.

Big Spring investigators said at a news conference today they have no way of knowing whether remains found yesterday are those of missing teenager, Hailey Dunn. Workers discovered a body at the McMahon-Wrinkle Airport around three yesterday afternoon. A special FBI investigative team from Dallas is conducting an investigation.

Big Spring policeman Tony Everett said at a news conference "we have no way of knowing if this body is Hailey Dunn. We are just trying to investigate the finding of a body and identify who it is."

Hailey Dunn, disappeared in December of 2010, and has continued to be the object of a massive search. The Colorado Sheriff's Department has continued to follow leads and was at the investigation scene in Big Spring.

BIG SPRING — At a quickly assembled media conference in a hangar at the McMahon Wrinkle Airpark, Sgt. Tony Everett of the Big Spring Police Department gave no new information on the investigation of human remains found Tuesday southeast of the airpark.

"We have no idea who it is," Everett said during the six-minute briefing. Asked point-blank if the remains were those of missing Colorado City teenager Hailey Dunn, Everett said law enforcement "could not speculate" on identification.

Big Spring is about 40 miles west of Colorado City.

Everett said no determination has been made as to how long the remains have been at the site, which has been marked by small yellow flags and appears to have been excavated. FBI agents on a Evidence Response Team in white coveralls slowly are collecting evidence and placing items in bags, according to Reporter-News staff writer Greg Kendall-Ball, who is at the scene.

After the media briefing, Midland resident Holly Jenkins was seen near the site of the remains. Jenkins has been a leader in Hope for Hailey, a group dedicated to locating the teenager - alive or deceased.

“I heard it on TV news last night. Whenever you hear of something like that in this area, you instantly think it’s Hailey," Jenkins told Kendall-Ball.

When asked about the proximity of remains to the Big Spring home of the mother of Shawn Adkins, identified by law enforcement as a person of interest in the case, Jenkins said, “It’s frightening. Obviously, with him being the only known suspect in this location, it scares me.

"I hope it’s not her, but if it is, I’m glad she finally has been found.”

Jenkins said she had spoken by phone with Billie Jean Dunn, mother of the missing teenager, Wednesday morning.

“She feels sick. she feels scared and she needs an answer. She’s demanding an answer," said Jenkins, who would not say if Billie Jean Dunn was on her way to Big Spring. The mother was last reported to be living in Travis County.

Law enforcement has been on the scene since the remains were found about 2:30 p.m. Tuesday. Local, area and federal authorities are on the scene, including the FBI.

Employees of Desert Tanks were painting and sandblasting oil fuel tanks when the remains were discovered.

John Young, the Sweetwater attorney representing Billie Jean Dunn, was at the site just before 10:30 a.m.

Young said law enforcement had not contacted the mother.

"Billie Jean Dunn is not an investigator, so we will wait until we hear from law enforcement," Young said as to whether the connection of the remains is made to the teenager reported missing Dec. 28, 2010. What an ODD remark!

Earlier today, Mitchell County Sheriff Patrick Toombs showed up about the time Howard County Precinct 2 Justice of the Peace Quail Dobbs left the scene. The area is southeast of the airpark, which is in west Big Spring. Kendall-Ball described the remains site as being in open area with scrub brush.

Employees of Desert Tanks were painting and sandblasting oil fuel tanks when the remains were discovered.

Heath Acrey, an employee for Desert Tanks, said he did not want to talk about specifics about what happened when his co-workers found the remains.

The site, he said, has been "used for a while" by the company, but declined to elaborate on how long the site has been used.

According to KOSA, CBS affiliate for the Midland-Odessa area, the gates to the area owned by Desert Tanks in the past have not always been locked.

A Department of Public Safety helicopter earlier hovered over the remains site and flew patterns over Big Spring. Kendall-Ball said a portable toilet was brought in, signaling, he believes, the investigation will continue for a while .

The remains are marked by yellow flags, he said. From his vantage point, he can see only what appears to be shallow excavation.

Media has not been given anyfurther information by law enforcement at the scene.

Colorado City Police Chief Roy Owens this morning said no one from his department was at the scene, where the number of law enforcement agencies investigating the crime scene grew after daybreak.

"No, I don’t have anyone over there," Owens said. "Until they discover that there’s any connection and until we know what the gender is, and all the details, we’re not going to head out over there. We want to stay out of their way by all means."

Owens said he has not been in contact with any of Dunn’s family members as of 9:20 a.m., but said he was going to return a call to her great-aunt, who left a message at his office.

"I don’t have any contact information for the mother, or anyone else," he said. "We may be able to contact Haliey’s dad, Clint (Dunn). ... But I don’t know if he still lives here." WHY would he NOT have contact info for Billie??? This is Unreal!

"I’d hate to speculate," he said, about the investigation. "When we heard about it yesterday I knew things were going to get blown up. I knew it would take no time to get out and it would be a wildfire. It’s speculation right now. Until they have a positive ID, I don’t want to get in anyone’s way. Law enforcement tends to wait. So until we get that call."

The mother of Shawn Adkins, the live-in boyfriend of Dunn's mother, Billie Jean Dunn, at the time of the teenager's disappearance, lives in Big Spring. Adkins no longer lives in the area, law enforcement previously said.

Kendall-Ball said media has been grouped in an area near the crime scene but not near enough to closely view what is going on. He said at least a dozen vehicles representing Abilene, Lubbock, Midland and other media are at the scene. There are no spectators, though some slow-moving vehicles have been seen on nearby roads, likely looking over what is going on.

Vehicles marked ERT were admitted to the crime scene at 8:40 a.m. A helicopter arrived that Kendall-Ball believed had FBI agents aboard. A vehicle from the 32nd Judicial District, which covers Fisher, Mitchell and Nolan counties, was parked at the scene as the day began.

A large tank lid that had been placed over the remains overnight was lifted and placed to the side just after 8 a.m.

Last year Law Enforcement searched an area near the Colorado City Airport. They stated the search was based on a tip they had received.
If the remains are Hailey, this means the tip was correct just the wrong airport.
This indicates more than one person knows what happened to Hailey.

Not sure what you are talking about, Wrap. I started this thread and moved all the comments about remains being found from Hailey thread #7 to this new thread. I changed the title of the #7 thread so there was no mention of remains being found and locked that thread. Help me out here, please. What am I missing?
