After Instagram fight, Atlanta Police looking for 14-year-old runaway

ATLANTA -- Atlanta Police are looking for a missing teenager who may have run away after fighting with her parents.

Beverly Knepper was last seen at around 2 p.m. Monday at her home on Orme Circle in Midtown.

Atlanta Police spokeswoman Kim Jones said the missing girl's parents claimed they argued with Knepper the night before she vanished about her relationship with a 14-year-old boy she met on Instagram. Knepper's mother last saw her sitting on the steps outside their house.

Police called the boy, who said that he was supposed to meet Knepper at Piedmont Park, but she never arrived, Jones said.

Beverly Knepper is Hispanic, 5 feet 2 inches tall and 112 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes. She was wearing yellow shorts, a white shirt, brown socks and white shoes when she disappeared. Her mother said Knepper suffers from ADHD and PTSD and is not taking any medication.

Anyone who sees Knepper is asked to call 911.

14-year-old girl disappears in midtown Atlanta



Friends and family are circulating flyers in hopes of finding missing teen Beverly Knepper. 



Police are looking for a 14-year-old girl who disappeared in midtown Atlanta. 

Beverly Knepper was last seen Monday after an argument with her parents. She was wearing a white shirt, neon yellow shorts, brown socks and white shoes.

Channel 2 Action News was with friends and family members as they circulated look-out flyers around midtown Wednesday in the search for the girl.

"The best they can piece together (is) she went to the park to meet a friend and he didn’t show up, and she hasn't come back," a woman with the group said. 

According to an Atlanta police report, Knepper was set to meet a 14-year-old boy who she met on Instagram at Piedmont Park. Police said they spoke to the boy, and he said he didn’t end up going.

The girl’s mother told police she had argued with Knepper about the boy, and she last saw her daughter on the steps of their home near the park.

The mother also said Knepper has Postraumatic stress disorder but wasn’t taking medication.

Anyone with information on her whereabouts is asked to call Atlanta police at 404-614-6544.

The boy said he could not/did not meet her at the park. OK. Does the park have surveillance?? Does this boy have an alibi? 

One other thing..it's stated that the 'police CALLED the boy'. Wouldn't they actually go see him face to face???

I had the same concerns about the police calling the boy and apparently are taking the boy's word for this.
I sure hope this girl is found safe!

Here is an open letter from the parents (a friend in Atlanta sent me this). According to their letter this boy had sent Beverly 4 pornographic videos. I can certainly understand why they would not want her associating with him. MOO

The parents of Beverly Knepper – the 14-year-old girl who went missing this past Monday near Piedmont Park – have passed along this open letter and asked us to post it.

Just to clarify the info that is out there about our missing daughter and to give you a bit more info (we know it’s hard for all media sources to get all info correct) here is a brief recap.

Beverly began communicating with a boy that she did not know on Instagram this past Friday. Their plan (unbeknownst to us) was to meet for the first time in Piedmont Park on Monday at 4pm. He (the boy) said that he did not show up and police have been able to confirm his story. We know that she was upset with us on Sunday night because we were trying to curtail her communication with this young man. (He sent 4 pornographic videos to her). On Monday we were carrying on with life as usual until she left (without our permission) to meet him.

Since she didn’t meet up with the boy from Instagram, we know it is a possibility that she ran away alone or with someone else that she met in the park. We, along with the police, talked to teenage boys at the BeltLine skate park today who thought they saw her there on Tuesday. We are praying that she is nearby and would ask for your watchful eyes to especially look should you walk the BeltLine.

But, we also have the concern that she did not leave the park voluntarily because she took nothing with her. A scenario that is hard to even type is that she left to meet the young boy with the intent of returning but encountered a dangerous situation.

I wanted to make all of you aware of a phone call that I had from a CNN employee who encountered a threatening man twice as she ran in the park within the last two weeks. He tried to block her path and moved over as she moved over. The second time she encountered him, she started yelling as she got away from him. She contacted police both times but did not think they responded. She contacted me because she wanted me to know about the incident and also to tell me that Beverly’s appearance is similar to her own and so it distressed her to think that this man may approach similar looking females. We are, of course, asking APD to investigate this man and we spoke with Piedmont Park Conservancy about him today.

Please continue to be vigilant in looking for Beverly when you’re out and about. If you have any information regarding her disappearance or possible whereabouts, please call the APD’s Youth Unit at 404-546-4260 or Beverly’s parents at 404-453-9310. STILL want to know if this park has surveillance..also want to know if the boy took a poly and will he be charged w/sending porn via internet?

I'm curious why this young girl was suffering from PTSD? Although maybe it has nothing to do with the case.

I would certainly hope he'd be charged with the porn sending!

UPDATE: A 14-year-old Atlanta girl missing since Monday has been found, Atlanta police reported Thursday.

About 8 p.m. Thursday, Atlanta police spokesman John Chafee this email: "Please cancel the lookout for Beverly Knepper. She has been located and is safe. At this time I have no additional details available."

PRAYER VIGIL IS OFF- BEVERLY IS HOME AND SAFE. She just borrowed a lady's phone on the beltline and called the Swanson's and said she wanted to come home. She wanted to walk home but Wayne is on his way over there. PRAISE GOD
