How can we get rid of child pornography? Empty How can we get rid of child pornography?

I just heard on the news today that Jarred Harrell was charged with the murder of 7 year old Somer Thompson. While I was not surprised at the news, as he had been arrested back in February for possession of child pornography, I am shocked & angry nonetheless!! Another child has been "sacrificed" for the perverted pleasure of some "monster".

While I am thrilled to know that another "monster" has been arrested & will hopefully be locked up for the rest of his life... it scares me to realize that there are more "monsters" being created all around us. It almost reminds me of those "Whack a Mole" games at the fairs - you whack one on the head, and another one pops up! What is creating them and how can we get rid of them for good? I believe that it can be summed up in two words: child pornography. It seems that just about every "monster" who has been arrested for sexually molesting and/or murdering a child, has been addicted to child pornography.

As a Christian, I believe we live in a sinful world, and will have to deal with sin until we get to heaven one day. However, while we live on earth, we need to do our best to protect our precious children from becoming victims of this sickening "industry" that has become more rampant through the Internet. I know that in Canada, there is an elite task force set up that has specifically targeted child pornography. (I will try & find out more info about them, but I know they try to stay anonymous in order to catch the criminals) But, what I would like to know... is if there is some way that you & I as mothers, grandmothers, aunts, sisters, etc. can protect our children/grandchildren/neices/nephews from these monsters.

For example, here Jarred Harrell was living in his parent's home (which I understand was also where he murdered Somer), and yet they seemed unaware of his private life. Yet, they must have had some suspicions! His own aunt was defending him in the news, and yet surely she must have had some suspicions. I guess what I'm saying is that we should all be a bit more aware of our family members & friends who may seem a bit "odd". While not going on a "witch hunt", we should at least try & get to know them a bit more. It may save a child's life!!

I'm not saying that I have "the answer" for how to solve the scourge of child pornography, but I think it is worth discussing, as the future of our children is at stake!

BTW, I also believe that "Prayer Changes Things", and I know that I need to pray a lot more than I do! I do try to pray every day that God would destroy the evil men who produce & promote child pornography. And that He would protect the children in Canada, the USA, and around the world!

After thinking through what I wrote yesterday, I began to realize that pornography doesn't "create" these monsters... but it does add fuel to the fire!

What really scares me, is realizing that most of these "Monsters" that are abusing & murdering children are seemingly "normal" people. They are someone's son, brother, nephew, etc. I really feel that parents have a HUGE responsibilty in raising their children to make good choices in life, and doing their best to be good examples to them.

Anyways, I will get off my "soap box" now... thanks for reading this!
