Burlington police seek public's help in finding missing man
Free Press Staff Report • Tuesday, February 8, 2011
Burlington police are asking for the public’s help in locating Alfred Adams, a 40-year-old Burlington man who has not been seen since he entered the woods near a rest area along the northbound lane of Interstate 89 in Waterbury in late November.
Adams’ family first reported him missing last month after becoming concerned that they had not heard from him during the holidays, Burlington Detective Michael Warren said.
Warren said police put off classifying Adams as a missing person at first because he was an adult, and police had received a report that he had stopped by his apartment in Burlington.
Adams was deemed a missing person after police determined the report was false and discovered that his bank account showed no activity.
Adams was said to have some mental-health conditions. There is no evidence the disappearance is related to foul play, and posters being put up around the city said police are only trying to determine his well-being.
Adams is about 6 feet tall, weighs 165 pounds and has brown hair, possibly shorter than the length shown in a 2009 photo released by police, Warren said.
People with information about Adams or his whereabouts are urged to call Warren at 540-2193 or their local police agency.

Vt. police find body in Waterbury of man last seen in November
WATERBURY, Vt. — Vermont police say they've found the body of a man last seen in November when he was walking into the woods near Waterbury while carrying camping equipment.
In January 40-year-old Alfred Adams of Burlington was reported missing by family members concerned for his welfare.
Burlington Police say that due to extreme weather conditions, the area where Adams was last seen could not be searched until the spring thaw.
On Monday, Burlington and state police and New England K-9 Search and Rescue searched the area along the north side of Interstate 89 near U.S. Route 2.
Adams's body was found next to a small tent encampment on a hillside overlooking the interstate.
The body was taken to the office of the Vermont Medical Examiner for autopsy.
Foul play is not suspected.
