Last week was a very busy weekend for law enforcement in the Beloit area. Late Friday afternoon a task force consisting of Beloit Police Department Interim Chief Dave Elam, Wichita Police Department Detective Shawn Bostick, and 3-special investigators from the Kansas Attorney General’s Office, executed a search warrant and then arrested 34-year old Jeffrey A. Edwards at his home located at 408 North Bell in Beloit.

Edwards made a first appearance in Mitchell County District Court this afternoon charged with 3-felony counts of Sexual Exploitation of a Child Involving Distribution of Child Pornography over the Internet and 2-felony counts of Possession of Child Pornography.

Detective Bostick, a member of the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force or ICAC, allegedly received several pornographic images of children from Edwards on August 5th.

A preliminary hearing has been scheduled for September 7th at 10:00-AM. Edwards is being held in the Mitchell County Jail without bond because of the nature of the crimes.

Mitchell County Attorney Mark Noah said, “With the charges that have been filed, if convicted, Edwards could be looking at spending the rest of his life in prison.”
