A 57-year-old Quincy man is accused of committing over two dozen counts of child rape.

Police tell FOX25, Michael R. Brundige turned himself into police on Thursday night after being informed of plans to charge him with 16 new counts of rape of a child with force.

Brundige is accused of committing rapes in one Connecticut town as well as two Massachusetts counties. He was arraigned in Quincy District Court on Friday for his latest host of charges.

He was indicted on nine counts of child rape and three counts of indecent assault and battery on a child under 14 in Norfolk County back in December 2010. In this case, Brundige allegedly assaulted one victim multiple times between 2001 and 2004. He was released after posting bail.

The Quincy man was also indicted on a single count of rape of a child in Plymouth County in October 2011. Police say this incident occurred sometime between 1990 and 1992 and the victim was 6 to 8 years old. Brundige posted bail at this arraignment and was ordered to have no unsupervised contact with children under 16 and to receive counseling.

In September 2011, Brundige surrendered to police in Montville, Conn for a warrant on charges of sexual assault in the fourth degree and injury or risk of injury to a minor. This alleged assault occurred over two years ago. He was released after posting a $100,000 bond.

Brundige was also accused of molesting another person in Plymouth County, but the statute of limitations ran out on the charges. Since it is an indecent assault and battery case and not a rape case, it has a shorter statute of limitation.

QUINCY —

A Quincy man facing a host of child rape charges in two Massachusetts counties and in Connecticut turned himself in to Quincy police and was charged with 16 new counts.

Michael R. Brundige, 57, of 55 Spear St., came to the police station Thursday night after he was informed he would be charged with 16 new counts of rape of a child with force, Lt. Patrick Glynn said.

The charges stem from multiple alleged assaults on the same child over a period of eight years, Glynn said.

Brundige was arraigned Friday in Quincy District Court.

In December, a Norfolk County grand jury indicted Brundige on nine counts of child rape and three counts of indecent assault and battery on a child under 14. Those charges also stem from multiple assaults on one victim, which allegedly occurred from 2001 to 2004.

Brundige was released after posting $5,000 cash bail after he was arraigned on those charges in Norfolk Superior Court in Dedham.

Last month in Plymouth County, Brundige was indicted on a single count of rape of a child for an incident that allegedly occurred in Hull about 20 years ago.

The alleged victim in that case was 6 to 8 years old when the alleged assault occurred, sometime in 1990 to 1992.

Brundige was arraigned on those charges Oct. 20 in Plymouth Superior Court. He posted $5,000 cash bail and was released. A judge ordered him to have no unsupervised contact with children under 16 and to continue counseling.

Another person in Plymouth County alleged Brundige molested her, but the statute of limitations had run out on the charge. The case was not a rape case, but one of indecent assault and battery, which has a shorter statute of limitation than rape.

Also this year, in late September, Brundige surrendered to police in Montville, Conn., after a warrant was issued for his arrest on charges of sexual assault in the fourth degree and injury or risk of injury to a minor.

That alleged assault occurred more than two years ago in the Uncasville section of Montville. Brundige posted a $100,000 surety bond in a Connecticut court and was released.

Another victim has come forward in a sexual assault case that dates back as far as 2002, Quincy Police said.

Michael Brundige, 57, of Spear Street in Quincy, was arrested on Friday afternoon and held over the weekend on charges of two counts rape on a child and three counts indecent assault and battery on a child under 14.

The assaults allegedly took place between 2002 and 2005.

Brundige has faced three similar charges in Connecticut, Norfolk County and Plymouth County, where he has previously posted bail.

In November, the Quincy resident was arrested on 16 counts of rape of a child with force.

He pleaded not guilty, and in an arraignment the next day, a judge ordered Brundige to be held on $3,500 cash bail, to have no contact with the alleged victim or any child under 18-years-old, and to be monitored by a GPS device.

According to police, the assaults occurred between 2002-2005 and involved one victim.

Brundige was additionally arrested in October in Plymouth County for one count of rape for an incident that occurred in Hull in 2002-2005.

Police said that victim was also under the age of 14. Brundige was held and posted the $5000 cash bail and was released at the time.

In September, Brundige was also arrested on charges of sexual assault on a child for incidents that also took place from 2002-2005. He subsequently was placed on $100,000 cash bail, which he posted and was released.

All the victims were known to the suspect, police said.

Although police did not receive a requested higher bail setting at the arraignment in November, they are hoping the court sees things differently this time around.

“I’m not sure if this one is going to be increased or not. We asked for a high bail due to the number of incidents, but that will be up to the court and the prosecutors,” said Quincy Police Lieutenant Patrick Glynn.

Glynn suspects that the other victims have come forward because of the initial publicity of the case.

“Once the first person came forward and that was made public, the other individuals all decided to come forward. It’s something that put them that feeling to get that closure - they were ready to open up. Once one person comes forward, the others feel comfortable that there are support groups out there and that law enforcement will take proper action,” police said.

Brundige is being arraigned in Quincy District Court Monday at 1 p.m. A hearing date will be set following the arraignment. If bail is set at a higher rate, Brundige will undergo a bail review hearing, police said.

DEDHAM, Mass. (AP) — A Quincy man convicted of child rape has been sentenced to up to 12 years in prison.

Prosecutors say 58-year-old Michael Brundige was sentenced in Norfolk Superior Court on Tuesday following his conviction Monday on three counts of rape of a child and three counts of indecent assault and battery on a child under age 14 after a four-day trial.

In addition his prison term, Brundige received 10 years of probation.

Prosecutors say the assaults occurred from 2001 to 2004 before the victim, who lived near the Brundige family, turned 10. The assaults only ended when Brundige moved out of the city.

Indictments involving two other alleged victims were withdrawn because they refused to testify.
