Kye Mitchell aged 2 from Tomnolen Miss. playing in FRONT of his home is missing/Kye's Body Found In Nearby Pond
WEBSTER COUNTY, Miss. (WTVA) -- Authorities continue to search for a child who disappeared Sunday afternoon from the front yard of his parents' house in Tomnolen.
The Webster County Sheriff's Department says the child, Kyle Mitchell, 2, was playing in the front yard. His parents noticed him missing at about 3:30 p.m.
Authorities say Mitchell has blond hair and brown eyes, and was last seen wearing a camoflauge shirt with a moose on the front and grey sweatpants.
The area immediately around the home has a lot of tall grass and wooded areas, but several area search teams are already searching for Mitchell, including the Montgomery County Sheriff's Department.
Tomnolen Fire Chief Seth Mitchell said helicopters were used Sunday night to try and cover the terrain more effectively.
Mitchell said nearly 200 people have been involved in search efforts.
Anyone with information is asked to contact the Webster County Sheriff's Department at (662) 258-7701.

Family, community react to toddler death
WEBSTER COUNTY, Miss. (WTVA) -- For Eupora resident and Deputy Sheriff Toby Britt, it's still tough to fathom.
"[It's] very frustrating, when something like this happens with a child, and it turns out this way," Britt said.
He said he feels that way because search crews had been working around the clock, searching since 4 p.m. Sunday. Dozens of volunteers from neighboring counties came together.
"We searched areas all along [the house] and had no luck finding him. Resumed the search all throughout the night and morning, resumed with our volunteers again Monday morning at daylight," Britt said.
Many of them were still hopeful they'd find the child, like Seth Mitchell, incident commander since the search began.
"At 6 o'clock Monday morning, we had already had 100 volunteers to show up," Seth Mitchell said.
Authorities say one of the most difficult things about the search was the terrain involved: a lot of dense underbrush, briars and grassy areas were present. It's very easy for a child to hide; very difficult for an adult to search.
"It's very wooded, several ponds, small ponds are in the area. There's a lot of small brush," Britt said.
Volunteers later found two-year-old Kye Mitchell, in a pond about a quarter-mile behind his home.
Seth Mitchell has been in contact with the family from the beginning; it really hit home for him because Kyle Mitchell was his cousin.
"Of course, it's always hard when you lose a child of any age," Seth Mitchell said. "They did tell me that they appreciated all the help from everyone and they said they really could see the love shown toward them from everyone in this county and all our surrounding counties. That makes me feel good knowing if we ever need any help, help will come."
It's a feeling law enforcement shares as well.
"We're sorry for the family at this point. We will know [more about the case] after the investigation is done through the Mississippi Bureau of Investigations," Britt said.
Despite the outcome, Seth Mitchell said he's still thankful for the support.
"I really do thank everyone who showed up and lended your support and prayers. It was very much needed. We just very much for it," Mitchell said.
The body has been sent to Jackson for an autopsy.
Also, the Mississippi Bureau of Investigation is still trying to determine if foul play was a factor in the death.

There sure isn't much on "Google" under "Kyle Mitchell". Strange!! Poor baby!
Re: Kye Mitchell aged 2 from Tomnolen Miss. playing in FRONT of his home is missing/Kye's Body Found In Nearby Pond
Yes Ive been looking as well -nothing on his parents or if he had siblings, and the circumstances of why he was playing alone in the front yard -whether it was a gated yard or how it was situated.

I wondered why a two year old was outside playing by himself also. What a shame! It doesn't matter to me if that yard was gated or not, he should not have been outside by himself at 2 years old, he is just too young. What were these parents thinking?

Yes it is so sad and so uncalled for. Kye was just too young to be left alone outside by himself. MOO!

Welcome to VH rweber! Thank you for letting us know of the name, I will change it to Kye. I do remember seeing it both ways when I googled so I'm grateful for the correct spelling.

You cannot take your eyes off a child that age when they are outdoors. I feel so, so sorry for the parents, but still say that they should have kept him in their eyesight when he was outside...or, better yet, go out WITH him FGS!! :good/evil:
