Video Catches Hubby Dumping Missing Wife's Body: Police Hubby, Munawar Toha, charged after missing woman's car found in lake with body

The husband of a Coral Springs mother who vanished after dropping her kids off at school has been arrested and charged with her murder, police said.

Munawar Toha, who held a weepy news conference yesterday to state he had no idea where wife Surya Toha is, has been charged with first degree murder.

Surveillance video appears to be his undoing.

Surya Toha was last seen dropping the couple's two young sons off at Hunt Elementary School on March 23, driving her 2001 silver Daewoo, which was also missing.

Last night, Coral Springs police pulled the car out of Crystal Lake at the 4100 block of Powerline Road near Sample Road. In the front seat was a woman's body, believed to be Surya's.

Surveillance video from the warehouse across the street from the canal shows the silver car pulling into the parking lot. Then, a man gets out and pulls a bike out of the trunk. Police think that was Toha's get away ride after he dumped the body.

The video goes on to show the man, believed to be Toha, trying to push the car into the canal before finally getting in the car and driving it toward the canal before jumping away.

The car can be seen slowly drifing away with the current as the man hops on the bike and pedals away. The lake is less than seven miles from the couple's home.

An autopsy will be performed to confirm the body's identity, police said.

Munawar Toha, 63, made a tearful plea Monday for his wife's return, saying Surya would never have left their boys, aged 5 and 9, alone.

"My wife missing since the 23rd, please come back home, Surya. We miss you, we love you," a crying Munawar said. "You see all your children miss you. Please come home!"

Police said there was no history of domestic abuse and Munawar claimed yesterday that he and his 41-year-old wife didn't have a fight the morning of March 23.

"The truth is, I have no clue where she is at the moment," Toha said Monday.

The Coral Springs woman whose husband is accused of killing her and pushing her body and car into a lake died from several blunt force injuries to her head and possibly suffocation , police said.

An autopsy performed on 41-year-year-old Surya Toha found she suffered multiple impacts to her head from a heavy object and she may have been asphyxiated, according to the Broward County Medical Examiner's Office.



Surya's car was pulled from Crystal Lake at the 4100 block of Powerline Road near Sample Road Monday night, her body inside and her head covered with a plastic bag.

On Tuesday, husband Munawar Toha, 63, was arrested and charged with her murder. Police said he was captured on video pushing his wife's car into the lake.

I guess we won't hear those defense attys claiming there's nothing but circumstantial evidence like they always do as though circumstantial is not real evidence. I hope there is someone reliable to take care of the children. So sad.......

On NG, it was said that the wife was threatened by someone the husband works with.

And, Peter Odom (who I think is "eye candy":)) was saying they cannot prove it was the husband on the tape or some b.s., and of course..Nancy was in her "Elizabeth, put Odom up on the screen NOW".

Sorry, this is off topic, sorta...there was a case here in NO, a well known sportscaster murdered his wife, rode up to place of work in disguise on a bike, shot her and rode off, all caught on surveillance video. He left a check list, found by his good friend the sheriff, on it was buy gun, get bike, get disguise.....the defense said you couldn't identify him on video too, but he is now in prison convicted of first degree murder. :cheers:

How dumb is this guy? He knocked out a portion of the fence and left tire tracks leading into the lake, very near the building he works in. (I guess that was so he could keep an eye on her.) He leaves his wife's body in the passenger seat, with her head and feet (maybe someone can explain that) wrapped in plastic bags.

Wonder if anyone saw him on his bike? All LE has to do at this point is fingerprint the bike where the video shows he was holding it when he removed it from the trunk.

If this wasn't so tragic because of his wife's murder and the children's loss, this man would make a good laughable subject for the program called "Dumbest Criminals".
