A New Bedford cold case is close to being solved, thanks to law enforcement in Tennessee.

John Loflin was arrested this week in Tennessee, after authorities there learned his DNA was linked to evidence in a 2002 murder in New Bedford, Massachusetts. Loflin is now being held as a fugitive from justice.

The body of 42 year old Marlene Rose was found near the train tracks off Purchase Street in July of 2002. Until this week, the murder case has sat cold.

The Giles County Sheriff's Department reports Loflin will face judge on Tuesday and is expected to fight extradition back to Massachusetts.
