What a nice picture of Lauren and her Mother. That ring should be very easy to spot if someone else has it. I hope it leads to their answers about what happened to Lauren.

I hope so too! I was going to post that rendering but that article was copy righted so I didn't. I don't know why important articles like that shouldn't be shared, especially if it helps catch the POS.

Post by raine1953 Sat Nov 24, 2012 7:47 pm

Lauren Spierer, a student at Indiana University in Bloomington, IN went missing in the early morning hours of June 3, 2011. This is not "new" news as her family, friends and other bloggers/writers continue to keep the story alive in the hopes of finding answers. The biggest tragedy however is the refusal of the people who were with her last, to talk, to tell the truth, to tell police what really happened that night. Four boys, four possible answers to a mystery that continues to plague her family with nightmares and heartache.

I have written about Lauren numerous times. I have said why the case hit close to my own heart. No, I do not know the Spierer family but my daughter attended IU. She lived in the same building as Lauren and frequented the same bar where Lauren partied before her disappearance. God forbid, it could have been her or any one of the thousands of young girls attending that school - or any for that matter. Kids drink, kids do stupid things. Kids hide things too.

The petition that is being circulated is for what is being called "Lauren's Law".

" We believe that by requiring all Persons of Interest (POIs) take a police administered polygraph test will help important details emerge sooner in the investigation, therefore reducing the number of investigators and cutting down on time exerted in solving cases. If the persons of interest are eliminated, investigators are able to better focus their efforts and consider other options more aggressively. Your signature represents hope, and by signing this petition, you are telling legislators that it's time to listen to the pleas of the families of those who have vanished and to put more consideration on the nightmare they face every day as they wait anxiously for answers".

The POI's in this case are the four boys that all were allegedly with her at some point the evening of her disappearance. One has even claimed amnesia. All along the tag line on her twitter posts has been "someone knows something". "End the silence" has also been out there as a plea to these boys to come forward. They all lawyered up as soon as she was discovered to be missing. If they have nothing to hide, why so silent? If they know nothing, why not take a polygraph and help move the case along?

Charlene and Robert Spierer, Lauren's parents have repeatedly written open letters to the person or persons that know what happened that night. All information can be seen at www.findlauren.com. Their words are heart wrenching, filled with so much pain you can feel it as you read. Imagine it were your child; when we send our children off to college we pray for their safety. The Spierer's did and those prayers were crushed on June 3, 2011.

Please take a few moments to sign this petition. They continually have said that anything small could be big. The twenty seconds it will take you to sign this could mean the passing of Lauren's Law or getting a step closer to finding more answers. I'm no detective but the Spierer's are right: someone knows something. Let's help one family take some steps towards finding out what happened to their daughter. Let's try to help give them some peace.

Post by raine1953 Fri Jan 11, 2013 12:29 pm

Missing IU student Lauren Spierer still hasn't been found, and it's becoming more and more likely that her disappearance will become a total cold case. With there being essentially no investigative updates in around a year, it must be difficult for the young woman's parents—who have been adamant in keeping awareness of her high since the day she vanished.

It's been several months over a year since Lauren vanished after partying with friends at Kilroy's bar in Bloomington, Indiana. The last people to see her claim that she wandered home, barefooted and drunk, in the very early morning hours of June 3rd. None of her friends have agreed to take a polygraph test, and one of them has gone as far as to claim he suffered a bout of amnesia in just the block of time that she vanished.

The parents of Lauren Spierer still speak to the media. They still want answers, and it just looks like the reality is that they will not get them. They said the following:

"We still have that hope that someone will have a crisis of conscious and come forward, share what they know, help us find our little girl, and end this nightmare."

Rob and Charlene Spierer also acknowledged that they have spoken recently to officials who say that they still investigate leads, but they are becoming fewer and fewer as time goes by. This case is verging on two years old, and it is going cold. Will Lauren be found before officials quit investigating altogether?

Post by raine1953 Sun Jan 13, 2013 1:13 am

It's the little things, say Robert and Charlene Spierer, that hurt the most.

For Robert it's the flash of a blonde ponytail on a city street that leaves him aching; for Charlene it's the arrival of the cell-phone bill that still bears her daughter's name.

Nineteen months after Lauren disappeared, her boxes from college remain stacked against her parents' den wall. Long ago they gave up hope that Lauren might unpack them herself.

"I can't bear to move them," says Charlene. "I know they're just boxes. But I can't."

It's difficult for the Spierers to grasp that it's been nearly two years since Lauren, 20, a bright, beautiful sophomore at Indiana University Bloomington, left a friend's off-campus apartment after a night out partying and never returned to her own. In that time their lives have utterly transformed.

For seven months in 2011 they lived in Bloomington, helping coordinate search efforts and hiring their own private investigator. And last year they planned a wedding without her, celebrating in October the marriage of their older daughter Rebecca, 26. Yet as much as their lives change, the status of the search for their daughter remains the same.

"They're not getting the same frequency of leads," says Robert of the investigators working on the case. "It's frustrating because 19 months later we still don't have answers, and we still don't have our child."

EDGEMONT - It's been nearly two years since Edgemont college student Lauren Spierer disappeared but friends and family haven't given up the search for answers.
Students from Spierer's former high school threw a fundraiser last night that included musical performances, a magic show and a fashion show. Organizers say, per the family's request, all of the proceeds will go toward SADD, Students Against Destructive Decisions. "We've missed her in the community, and I have the greatest respect for everyone who's been looking for her. I wanted to be part of this community who will help," says organizer Julia Haber.
Spierer, 20, was attending Indiana University when she went missing on campus after a night out drinking with friends in 2011.

Post by raine1953 Wed Apr 17, 2013 3:14 am

The search for Lauren Spierer may be over, according to a report updated by the Indianapolis Star. Skeletal remains were located by mushroom hunters last week, and it was suspected then by many who follow this case that the body could be Lauren's. If the body is identified as belonging to the missing IU coed, that will open a new chapter in this heartbreaking story.

Lauren vanished nearly two years ago after a night of drinking with friends in Bloomington, Indiana. Her case has famously been compared to the disappearances of Holly Bobo, Katelyn Markham, Paige Johnson, and Shelley Mook -- just to name a few. If these remains are positively confirmed as belonging to the missing fashion major, this will mark the second woman missing for two years, found dead. Remains identified as Katelyn Markham's were found just weeks ago near Cedar Grove, Indiana -- which is under 80 miles west of where these remains were located.

This opens up the window of speculation -- especially if the remains are identified as being Lauren Spierer. With her case being compared to several other missing women's cases in a 700 mile radius, there could be fears of a potential serial predator -- and that has been speculated by such experts as PI Bill Warner, as well as here on Gather News and Case to Case.

NASHVILLE, IND. — A southern Indiana coroner says skeletal remains found last week at a remote site in Brown County are those of a person who could have been dead for two years or more. The discovery comes 22 months after the disappearance of Lauren Spierer, a 20-year-old Indiana University student from Greenburgh.

Brown County Chief Deputy Earl Piper said Wednesday that there was no indication of a link to Spierer, but “I can’t rule anything out,” he said.

“I don’t have anything at this point pertaining to her that is being looked at,” he said, adding that he didn’t know the age, gender or race of the remains, which are being examined by the anthropology department at the University of Indianapolis.

Still, Piper noted, Bloomington, Ind., police, who are investigating the Spierer case, have contacted authorities in Brown County.

Post by raine1953 Fri May 24, 2013 2:52 pm

One of the last people to see Lauren Spierer accused the missing Indiana University student’s parents of harassing him and others who he said had nothing to do with the young woman’s disappearance.

“It’s inappropriate the way they’re harassing people that are also victims in this case,” Corey Rossman told The Journal News Thursday, talking publicly for the first time since Spierer disappeared nearly two years ago. “We’ve done nothing wrong. If we’d done something wrong, we would have been arrested already. All they’re doing is hurting my career.”

Rossman also seemed to distance himself from his own lawyer Carl Salzmann’s statement that he had no memory of his final moments with Spierer.

“I never said that,” he told the paper. “You’re taking statements that were said by my lawyer. I never said I did or didn’t.”

Rossman was with Spierer in the hours before she went missing in June 2011 in Bloomington, Ind. He accompanied her to a bar, then back to her off-campus apartment, Smallwood Plaza, where he was punched in the face by another student. His lawyer would later claim that Rossman lost memory of the night’s events. A surveillance video from Smallwood, however, showed that Rossman helped an unsteady Spierer out of the building after being punched.

He carried her for part of the way to his townhouse up the street. Rossman, his roommate Mike Beth and neighbor Jay Rosenbaum were the last three people known to have interacted with her.

Charlene and Robert Spierer, of Edgemont, have criticized Rossman and the other “persons of interest,” accusing them of withholding information from police. They have called on all of them to submit to police-administered lie-detector tests.

Rossman said he’s been harassed by media and the Spierer family for nearly two years now. When reached by cell phone Thursday morning, he yelled at the reporter for “harassing” him at work.

“What do you think, I’m doing drugs now?” he shouted. “No, I’m at work. Don’t ever call again. If you contact me again, you’re going to hear from my lawyer. Either way, you’re going to hear from my lawyer.”

In criticizing the Spierers, Rossman said it’s been two years since the disappearance and that, “It’s permanently changed all our lives. ... You should write an article about how the parents are harassing us. None of my friends have done anything wrong.”

The Spierers have called on Rossman to speak to their private investigators and police. However, Rossman told the newspaper to ask the Spierers “about the times they canceled appointments with my lawyer to talk to them.”

Charlene Spierer said Thursday that they did arrange to meet the lawyer in Bloomington in October 2011, but that the lawyer failed to show up for the appointment.

Meanwhile, she scoffed at Rossman’s claims that she and her husband have harassed Rossman.

“Rob and I have never spoken to Corey Rossman,” she said. “The private investigators have never spoken to Corey. So I don’t know how it is we’re harassing him other than asking him to talk to the Bloomington police department. All of them.”

She also posed more questions to Rossman, which so far have gone unanswered. One question is why Rossman decided to take Spierer back to his townhouse early June 3, after she was already stumbling and intoxicated.

“Why didn’t he take Lauren home?” she asked. “He was there. Why didn’t he take her to her apartment?”

Indiana Police Search for Missing College Student Lauren Spierer/$100,000 reward offered/Case was featured on America's Most Wanted Twice/Landfill Search Complete, Yields Nothing/Mom feels Lauren no longer alive/Larens's Parents to be on Katie Monday 12.3 - Page 3 Empty Spierer lawsuit goes to federal court

Post by raine1953 Sun Jul 14, 2013 12:40 am

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) - The parents of Lauren Spierer have filed a lawsuit against three men seen with the IU student the night she went missing. The lawsuit has now gone to federal court.

The lawsuit, originally filed in Monroe Circuit Court on May 31, 2013, days before the two-year anniversary of Spierer's disappearance, was moved to federal court last week.

Robert and Charlene Spierer filed a complaint against Corey Rossman, Jason Rosenbaum and Michael Beth, which reads their actions resulted in the “disappearance, injury and death of Lauren Elizabeth Spierer.”

The document, called a Notice of Removal, notes that the defendants and the Spierer Family are all from different states, called Diversity of Citizenship, which gives federal court jurisdiction.

There is also a question of damages that the Spierers suffered as a result of her disappearance. The Spierer’s have not specified an amount of compensation they feel they deserve.

The suit reads, “in sum, because there is a complete diversity of citizenship” and “because Plaintiff is seeking damages as the result of Spierer’s disappearance and presumed injuries and death it is facially apparent that the amount in controversy exceeds $75,000.00 and meets the jurisdictional minimum.”

An Indianapolis lawyer who reviewed the document explained the significance of that figure. He said the complaint alleges damages are likely to exceed $75,000. He said, in diversity cases, the amount in dispute must be in excess of $75,000, that’s why it’s even mentioned in the complaint.”

He also said when a complaint does not ask a specific amount the amount in controversy can be considered to be over $75,000.”

The suit revisits events leading up to her disappearance in the early morning hours of June 3, 2011.

According to the suit, the allegations include that:

Spierer attended a party at Rosenbaum's residence on the night of June 2 and "consumed alcohol supplied by Rosenbaum."
She then left the party with Rossman and a mutual friend and went to Rossman's residence, which he shared with Beth.
Beth "observed that Spierer was extremely intoxicated and witnessed Rossman encourage Spierer to join him at Kilroy’s Sports Bar to consume more alcoholic beverages.”
At least one witness saw Spierer enter Kilroy’s appearing "intoxicated, had trouble standing and relied on Rossman's assistance to walk.”
"Upon information and belief" at Kilroy's "Rossman purchased, provided, and helped Spierer consume multiple additional alcoholic beverages over the course of approximately one hour.“
After leaving  Kilroy’s and returning to Smallwood Plaza, where Spierer lived, she was “observed by multiple individuals in a distressed, incoherent and nonresponsive state near the elevator” with Rossman.
After Rossman engaged in a confrontation with one of multiple individuals who confronted him for not assisting Spierer, “Rossman did not assist Spierer into her apartment” but was seen shortly after walking with Spierer “through an alley in the direction of his residence.”
Rossman was seen “carrying Spierer slung across his back less than a block from his residence.”
After returning to his residence, Michael Beth discovered Rossman and Spierer inside and “because of Spierer’s disoriented and incapacitated condition, Beth was concerned for Spierer’s well-being and safety and attempted to convince Spierer to sleep on his and Rossman’s couch.”
Spierer asked to return to her apartment but “Beth escorted Spierer to Rosenbaum’s residence.”
Rosenbaum, "expressing concern about Spierer's well-being attempted to contact  mutual friends to pick Spierer up and take her back to her apartment."
Beth returned to his residence after these efforts.
After being unsuccessful with contacting others, Rosenbaum "allowed Spierer to leave his residence on her own and briefly witnessed her walking in the direction of 11th Street and College Avenue at approximately 4:30 a.m.”
According to the document, “Rosenbaum was the last known person with Spierer while she was alive.”
The document goes on to say that after two years of searching, Spierer has never been located and is “presumed to have suffered injuries that resulted in her death."

The suit reads that "Spierer's abandonment in an intoxicated and disoriented state in the early morning hours of June 3, 2011 in an area known for criminal acts contributed to her disappearance, and presumed injuries and death."

The parents of Lauren Spierer are asking a judge to allow their lawsuit against the last three people to see their daughter alive to continue.

Attorneys for defendants Corey Rossman, Jason Rosenbaum and Michael Beth claim the lawsuit should be dismissed because the Spierer‘s can‘t prove their daughter is dead. They also claim that a person cannot be declared legally dead until they have been missing for seven years.

New court documents filed this week by the Spierers claim a jury can use circumstantial evidence to conclude someone has passed away and that a presumption of life does not bar them from taking a wrongful death action. The response says the Spierers would welcome any evidence from the defendants that shows Lauren is still alive.

The Spierers want the judge to move the suit into the discovery phase so they can ask questions about the night of Lauren‘s disappearance. They say the defendants have sough to avoid answering critical questions in the investigation and now they seek to avoid the discovery phase.

A hearing in federal court is scheduled for later this month.
