I think they have to follow up every lead - but looking at images of the surrounding areas and thick vegetation I think there are a lot of easier places to bury a small child.

SlysHunny,
I can't post links because I'm new.

How do I send them to you for you to post? I have attached them to a few of my comments and then had to remove them.

I had just picked up the "Fox News reported" from a statement made earlier in the comments linking to Scared Monkeys by artgirl, which referenced a Fox News account that I have not found. Someone heard it on television, it seems. It's in the Scared Monkeys thread by artgirl along with a lot of interesting things. It says there was a 'scream in the woods" I had never heard about, too. Seems like neighbors are posting. It looks like an excellent source of information on this abandoned house site.

This was the post about 'Fox News say" that I was referencing:

Looking on Scared Monkeys thread - someone posted that Fox News says the tip on the well came from LE's criminal tipsters who are telling police to look closely at the mother
(Note: the link was here but when I tried to cut and paste the entire message with link --even from an earlier link---it stopped me cold. It says I have to wait seven days--understandable for a newbie)

I was simply copying and pasting an earlier comment made on here and hoping that this was not the scenario at all.

This is the message I got--even when I tried to simply send the links to Sly. I tried removing the [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] from the front of each link to see if that would work but it was a no go.

It won't allow me to email anyone privately yet and it won't allow me to link. It's probably a safety feature designed to keep weirdos from joining and then posting links to something gruesome or pornographic.

This is a victim's site, so someone could so something terrible like that without a safe-guard. It makes sense, but it keeps me from linking to anything I'm saying.

Which is frustrating people here with good reason.

Lisa Irwin, still missing in Kansas City, MO - Page 3 Empty Re: Lisa Irwin, still missing in Kansas City, MO

Post by laga Tue Oct 11, 2011 2:13 pm

Kansas City firefighters are searching a Northland well in connection with the case of missing baby Lisa Irwin, who was born 11 months ago today.

Firefighters went to the backyard of a vacant home in the 3800 block of North Brighton Avenue about 10:30 this morning to search a 3-foot-wide well under a deck. The home is two blocks east and two blocks north of the Irwin home.

Workers set up a tripod and other equipment on the deck before lowering a firefighter into the well at 11:11 a.m. The firefighter reported feeling something but wasn’t sure what. Firefighters lowered a different person into the well at 11:45 a.m.

About 12:15 p.m., two large trucks arrived with suction equipment for draining 9 feet of water from the well to make sure nothing is there. At 1:15 p.m., officials began removing more of the deck so they could maneuver the hoses for draining the well into place.

A tipster told police that the home had a well, police said. Searching it “was the prudent thing to do,” said Capt. Steve Young, a police spokesman.

The house has been empty for several years, neighbors say, and has become an eyesore. It long has been covered with vines, branches and overgrowth. It was only in the last several weeks that a crew arrived to clear off that overgrowth.

“That’s how bad it was,” said Walt Roseburrough, a resident of the neighborhood since 1966. “You could have driven by the house and not even known it was there.”

Some of the houses in the area date to the 1940s, he said. He believes the house was built then.

Residents of many homes in the area still use septic tanks, said Edith Caray. A sanitary sewer line was just installed along North Brighton Avenue earlier this year, she said. Several of the homes in the area could have wells, she said.

Police shut down Brighton at Parvin Road during the search.

Also today, an aunt of Lisa’s told The Star that comments she gave on Good Morning America this morning were taken out of context and she had no knowledge of any police plan to arrest the girl’s mother.

“It is my fault because I did not choose my words carefully enough to articulate the point I was trying to convey,” said Ashley Irwin.

Hypothetically, Irwin said, police tend to focus their investigative efforts on the parents of a missing child if other leads fail to materialize.

“When they don’t have suspects, when they don’t have any leads, then it always circles back around to square one, which is the parents,” she told The Star.

Earlier, on television, she said: “It is what the police do; they don’t have any leads so they have to pin it on somebody.”

In response to the television interview, Young said any claim that police were trying to pin the disappearance on the child’s mother “was absolutely not true.”

“We don’t feel any pressure to accuse any body,” Young said. “We are under pressure to do what we can to find a child.”

He added that he hasn’t heard anything about a pending arrest in the case. He said is a “bit of a stretch” and “speculation” by the family that an arrest was coming soon.

Today marks the one week mark of Lisa disappearance. Lisa was reported missing about 4 a.m. Oct. 4 after her father, Jeremy Irwin, returned home from work as an electrician and discovered she was gone from her bedroom.

Bradley told police she last saw Lisa at 10:30 p.m. Oct. 3 sleeping in her crib. Police and federal authorities launched a massive search and interviewed her parents multiple times. They have knocked on hundreds of doors, searched nearby homes and searched area woods multiple times, including with dogs and on horseback.

On Monday, a Clay County grand jury issued subpoenas to all the local network TV affiliates, requesting any raw footage of interviews with missing infant Lisa Irwin’s family, friends or neighbors.

At the urging of police, the prosecutor’s office requested the subpoenas of an existing grand jury, a source said.

KCTV-5, The Star’s reporting partner, reported it had received a subpoena, as did WDAF, KMBC and KSHB.

The subpoena orders at least two of the stations to appear at 9 a.m. Oct. 18. It is unclear whether the stations would comply. KCTV said it was consulting with its attorney.

Investigators on Monday returned to the Irwin home in the 3600 block of North Lister Avenue, which is in Clay County, to search the backyard again.

A crime scene technician and several Kansas City detectives spent more than an hour at the home Monday. It was unclear what they were looking for.

At one point, detectives looked in the neighbor’s backyard. One climbed partly over a privacy fence gate to release a latch. The other detectives then went inside the fenced area.

Meanwhile, other investigators interviewed a person at that residence. At one point, a woman came outside and sat on the front stoop as a man consoled her until a detective summoned her back inside. The woman soon left in a private vehicle.

The child’s disappearance continues to have an impact on the larger community. A North Kansas City School District official said that many of the district’s younger students have expressed fears about being kidnapped by a stranger.

“Our goal is to make sure all children attending our schools feel their school is a safe place,” said Mary Jo Burton, a district spokeswoman.

Earlier Monday, reports surfaced of a homeless man seen in the neighborhood in the weeks leading up to the girl’s possible kidnapping.

Norval C. Nichols, who lives about a block from Lisa’s home, said that police showed him a photograph last week of the homeless man and asked about any possible connection to the missing child. The man once was seen in the neighborhood riding a red bicycle, he said.

Nichols said he also saw the man about a week or two before Lisa was reported missing, but not afterward. The two men spoke briefly at a nearby park weeks ago. The man told Nichols that he was looking for a job or any handiwork in the neighborhood.

Ashley Irwin told Good Morning America that she has no doubt that Bradley was not involved in the infant’s disappearance.

“She is genuine,” she said. “She loves that child. It is her baby. She would never do anything to hurt her.”

Police Search Well in Hunt for Missing Missouri Baby Lisa Irwin

Published October 11, 2011

FoxNews.com

Dozens of emergency workers are searching a well located under the deck of a vacant house in Kansas City eight days after a 10-month-old baby went missing from her home.

The property is about five blocks from the home of Lisa Irwin, who disappeared last week. Television footage showed crews looking below the backyard deck late Tuesday morning. The width and depth of the well were not immediately clear.

Police Say No Arrest 'Imminent' in Case of Missing Missouri Baby Lisa Irwin
The Kansas City Star reported a firefighter said he felt something after being lowered about 11 a.m. into the receptacle designed to hold rainwater and other liquid. A different person was lowered down before noon.

Two large trucks with suction equipment arrived at the home to drain water from the cistern, and a Kansas City Power & Light truck also showed up at the scene.

A neighbor said the single-story house had been abandoned for about four years.

Kansas City police spokesman Steve Young says the search was the result of a law enforcement canvass of the area, not a tip.

Lisa's parents reported their daughter missing last Tuesday after Jeremy Irwin returned home from work. They say someone must have crept into their home while the child's mother and brothers slept and snatched the girl.

Earlier Tuesday, Kansas City police denied a claim that the baby's mother, Deborah Bradley, is preparing to be arrested and charged in connection with the child's disappearance.

Sgt. Stacey Graves with the Kansas City Police Department told FoxNews.com that, "We have heard nothing from detectives to lead us to believe an arrest is imminent."

The baby's aunt, Ashley Irwin, told ABC News that it was "inevitable" that Bradley would be arrested as police were spending more time focused on the family, rather than finding suspects.

"It's what the police do," Irwin said early Tuesday. "They don't have any leads so they just have to pin it on somebody."

Graves, however, said police have "no suspects" and "are continuing the investigation until Lisa is found."

"We are still actively following up on leads and tips as they come in," she said.

The infant was last seen at 10:30 p.m. local time Oct. 3, asleep at her Kansas City home. She was reported missing at around 4:00 a.m. after her father returned home from work and noticed she was gone from her crib.

Officers were also reviewing video surveillance footage from a nearby store that apparently shows Bradley buying items with an unknown man just hours before Lisa disappeared, according to Fox affiliate WDAF-TV. The pair was reportedly seen buying wine and paper plates.

Last week police said Irwin and Bradley stopped cooperating with the investigation, but by Saturday they were talking to officers again. Bradley also said that during questioning police accused her of having done something to her child and of failing a lie-detector test.

FoxNews.com's Cristina Corbin and the Associated Press contributed to this report.

Ok I just finished reading everything recently posted.

First of all when was the last time anybody ever heard of a homeless man taking a 10 month old baby?

I am not buying that one. To tell you the truth I have never heard of homeless people doing much but panhandling. I don't think I have ever read a homeless person broke into somebodys home.

The well I discount. If they had to remove boards to get into it then it was not disturbed.

Nope not buying that one either.

Mom buying the wine interests me. What hours did electrician daddy work? If she was at the liquor store at 5pm and daddy returned home at 4am does that mean he worked a strange 12 hour shift...4 til 4? Haven't heard of that one before...maybe 3 to 3?

I think the police are being really intense and have an idea mom is involved. If they find anything at all close to where the baby might be..mom might break.

Personally I don't think they have anything but tips from well meaning people. Everybody's trying to think of anything at all to help find this baby.

A Grand Jury only a week into this case? Now that is troubling. Sounds like they have something good to take whatever they have to a grand jury this soon.

Lisa Irwin, still missing in Kansas City, MO - Page 3 Empty Nothing found in well searched as part of missing baby Lisa Irwin case

Post by Nama Tue Oct 11, 2011 3:53 pm

Kansas City firefighters searched a well behind a vacant home Tuesday in connection with the case of missing baby Lisa Irwin, who was born 11 months ago Tuesday.

After lowering firefighters into the well twice and finding nothing, they requested help draining about 10 feet of water from the well, which authorities described as being 30 to 40 feet deep and about 3 feet wide. Then they lowered a firefighter for the third time, just to make sure no cellphones or other evidence sat at the bottom.

They found nothing, said Capt. Steve Young, a police spokesman.

A tipster had suggested that police check the decaying home in the city's Northland neighborhood. Unoccupied for years, it is about four blocks from the Irwin home. While there, police discovered the well under a deck, officials said.

Firefighters were summoned to the backyard about 10:30 a.m. to search the well. Workers set up a tripod and other equipment on the deck before lowering a firefighter into the well. The firefighter reported feeling something but wasn't sure what. Firefighters lowered a different person into the well at 11:45 a.m.

About 12:15 p.m., two large trucks arrived with suction equipment for draining the well. Then, officials began removing more of the deck so they could maneuver the hoses for draining the well into place.

About 2:10 p.m., after the water had been removed, officials sent another firefighter into the well for a final check.

Searching the well "was the prudent thing to do," Young said.

The house has been empty for several years, neighbors say, and has become an eyesore. It long has been covered with vines, branches and overgrowth. It was only in the last several weeks that a crew arrived to clear off that overgrowth.

"That's how bad it was," said Walt Roseburrough, a resident of the neighborhood since 1966. "You could have driven by the house and not even known it was there."

Also Tuesday, an aunt of Lisa's told McClatchy Newspapers that comments she gave on "Good Morning America" Tuesday morning were taken out of context and she had no knowledge of any police plan to arrest the girl's mother, Deborah Bradley.

"It is my fault because I did not choose my words carefully enough to articulate the point I was trying to convey," said Ashley Irwin.

I didnt think they would find anything, but I agree it was best to try. Its so overgrown around there, it would be easier to go into the woods. It would be really good to know where the mother was between
the 5:00 she was seen on the video buying the wine
and the rest of the evening so we had a time line. If she did do something to the baby, she didnt have a lot of time to hide the body.

Lisa Irwin, still missing in Kansas City, MO - Page 3 Empty Prominent PI joins search for missing baby

Post by Nama Tue Oct 11, 2011 11:12 pm

A private investigator who has done work for national networks is now assisting in the search for missing baby Lisa Irwin.

Bill Stanton, a former New York City police officer known as "Wild Bill," said he wants "a happy ending" to a case that has increasingly captivated the nation.

Stanton said he and his team are now assisting Debbie Bradley and Jeremy Irwin in the quest to find their missing daughter. But the family has not hired him.

"I will be asking questions," Stanton said. "I am not here to defend or represent anyone. I have been asked to come out here and find Lisa and find the perpetrator or perpetrators."

Stanton has been a contributor for ABC, NBC, Good Morning America and the Today Show. Good Morning America listed Stanton as a security coordinator for the show in 2009.

Stanton said he would work with police. He said they do a "thankless job" and investigators are doing the "best they can."

"I am here to seek the truth," he said.

Eight somber-looking members of the baby's family flanked Stanton as he spoke. Neither Bradley nor Irwin was present. Irwin's sister, Ashley Irwin, stood with Stanton. Earlier Tuesday, Ashley Irwin said she believed police were railroading Bradley and would soon arrest her because they are desperate to make an arrest in the case.

Police have denied that and Ashley Irwin has said her comments to Good Morning America were taken out of context.

Lisa Irwin, who turned 11 months old on Tuesday, was reported missing by her parents around 4 a.m. on Oct. 3. Her parents say she was snatched from her crib as she slept.

Stanton said he understands the suspicions of her parents, saying, "That's fair."

"Keep one eye on them, but keep the other eye out for the streets," Stanton said. "There is a bad guy out there or bad people with this child. We want to get this child home safe and sound. That's the ultimate goal for everyone. Let's have a happy ending."

He thanked those who have assisted in the search. And he said the media will play a vital role.

"It is important that we use the media to help find Lisa," he said.

Fox 4 News reported Tuesday that police were back at the Irwin home conducting another search. That search was sparred by a store receipt found by police during one of their searches.

The receipt led police to a Festival Foods store where they reviewed surveillance video showing Debbi walking into the store with an unidentified man, shopping, purchasing a box of wine and other miscellaneous items, and leaving the store together.

The manager confirmed with this National Missing Persons news writer Tuesday afternoon that the incident took place at around 5 p.m. October, 3, about five hours before Debbi says she last say her baby. He also said the man with Debbi appeared to be around 20 years old.

While there could be cause for concern, this could have also been an innocent shopping trip with a friend or family member.

Why isn't the Lisa's mother shouting an explanation from the rooftops if this was, infact, an innocent shopping trip?

Lisa Irwin, still missing in Kansas City, MO - Page 3 Empty Re: Lisa Irwin, still missing in Kansas City, MO

Post by jeanne1807 Wed Oct 12, 2011 7:11 am

Last night at the very end of the NG show they showed a picture of Deborah Bradleys military husband. Quite handsome and a lot younger than the live in guy and father of little Lisa.

I would say he is part maybe hispanic or oriental.

I wonder if the fellow about 20 with Lisa was the neighbor boy they talked about earlier.

Sounds to me like Lisa was drinking and fell asleep and the partiers left the house with lights a blazing and doors and windows open.

Heaven only knows what happened to the baby girl.

Her being drunked up would explain a lot of things like not hearing an intruder, not checking on the baby and leaving lights on and doors open.

Would also explain a failed poly if she was trying to coverup her partying.

I hope they got to talk to the two young boys in the house.

But who the heck would take a little girl like that?
What a strange case this is.

I have read that the family hired the PI. Not true, I guess.

A private security consultant says a wealthy family hired him to investigate the disappearance of a Missouri baby.

Bill Stanton on Wednesday wouldn't disclose who hired him to look into the case of Lisa Irwin, whose family reported her missing from their Kansas City home Oct. 4.

Deborah Bradley and Jeremy Irwin suspect their daughter was abducted from the family home. Jeremy Irwin discovered the child missing when he returned from work.

New York City-based Stanton wouldn't say how long he plans to be in Kansas City. He says he's here to help the investigation and that he's "hopeful this child is safe and alive."

A spokesman for the baby's family says Stanton also will be working with media covering the investigation.

It is very strange Artgal. I thought I has misread last night when I read the family didn't hire him. I'm real curious as to who hired him and what their connection is or isn't to this family. At least it's another pair of eyes/ears to add to the search for this sweet baby. I sure hope she's found alive.

I just dont understand why they would care - I know that sounds odd, but usually there is a motive somewhere - could it be someone who thinks they can cash in on a Casey Anthony like case?

I agree, Art, usually a motive, we may discover that motive soon enough. I wonder, can anyone just interject themselves into a situation like this or do you need a license or law degree? Is LE willingly working with this PI? I agree the more eyes and ears the better.

Lisa Irwin, still missing in Kansas City, MO - Page 3 Empty Who is 'Wild Bill'? A brief biography of the former New York City police officer

Post by Nama Wed Oct 12, 2011 10:23 am

Bill Stanton has “stolen a car,” “broken into a house,” and “lured kids” for one reason: He says Americans are in more danger than they need to be.
We’re more vulnerable, he says, because some simple rules aren’t followed. You may have seen him on the Today show as a paid NBC security consultant, showing how easy it is to snatch a child... or getting conned by crooked fortune tellers.
On "Dateline," see the world according to Bill, who says too many Americans don’t know a crime when they see it, and too many don’t call police when they do.
In 1987, three years after becoming a New York City police officer, Stanton was chasing a burglar on a routine call. He fell and learned the hard way that real life cops can’t jump they way they do on TV.
Stanton left the police department, opened a private investigation agency and became a personal bodyguard. At the same time, Stanton became bouncer at a trendy nightclub. And after hobnobbing with celebrities, decided he wanted to be one himself.
He became known as “Wild Bill,” and that character that he created ended up on the cover of New York Magazine.
But in the end Stanton says it isn’t about just show business or his own fame. He says his mission is simple: to keep us alert to the hazards that are out there.

Lisa Irwin, still missing in Kansas City, MO - Page 3 Empty Bill Stanton, hotshot P.I., joins the search for Lisa Irwin

Post by laga Wed Oct 12, 2011 10:44 am

You can believe that the police officers, firefighters and federal agents working on the Lisa Irwin case are rolling their eyes at the latest development: the arrival of a celebrity private investigator.
Wearing a jacket that looked like it belonged to a cocky fighter pilot, Bill Stanton told reporters last night that he'll be conducting an independent investigation. He said he had not been hired by the parents of the missing 11-month-old. But as he spoke, eight members of the child's extended family stood behind him.

According to a 10-year-old New York Magazine story that's getting a lot of hits this morning, Stanton is a former New York City police officer. He left the department after injuring his hand while chasing a suspect — the injury prevented him from being able to use a .38, the NYPD's weapon of choice. He became a private investigator who hung out at Elaine's and got tips on how to dress from Jackie Onassis. He once staged an abduction on the Today show.

As for his Irwin investigation, Stanton said he had come to seek the truth. "And wherever the truth leads, that's where I'm going to go," he said.

Earlier in the day, police searched a vacant home near the Irwin residence. Firefighters were lowered into a 40-foot well on the property. Nothing was recovered. Later, a crew tore down the house.

Also, Lisa's aunt backtracked on her earlier comment that the family expected Deborah Bradley, Lisa's mother, to be arrested.

Lisa's father reported her missing on October 4.
