Authorities believe 2-year-old Jada Justice likely had been killed and encased in concrete in shallow water for three days in LaPorte County by the time she was falsely reported missing.

I heard about this last night, it was also stated that the burns suffered by cousins boyfriend were likely caused because he tried to burn the body.... :(

The news is saying nothing is final on this, but in all reality..we all know it is her. Just sad!!

NG could not bring herself to take 2 min last night and mention Jada. Hopefully, she w/not care about her ratings and talk about the missing and murdered, which is what her show is supposed to be about.

not defending Nancy Grace or anything but it was very late breaking last night about Jada, and NG may not have had the information about Jada, also it has still not been confirmed that it is Jada.

So the other two people were not arrested for anything related to the murder just the drug charges. I wonder who it was that finally told were Jada was...

........Child Services spokeswoman Ann Houseworth said an assessment into the safety of Melissa Swiontek's four surviving children was opened after the report of Jada's alleged abduction.

"While I can't speculate on whether the assessment was a result of her disappearance, I can say the assessment was opened as the result of a valid report," Houseworth said.

She said the allegations in the report met the level of abuse or neglect listed in the state statute.......

CROWN POINT | Fueled on heroin and fear, Jada Justice's baby sitter and her boyfriend tried to burn the toddler's lifeless body before encasing her in concrete and dumping her into a swamp, authorities charge.

Engelica Castillo, 18, and her boyfriend, Tim Tkachik, 24, both of Hobart, were charged Friday with murdering the 2-year-old Portage toddler. They also were charged with two counts of neglect of a dependent, battery and false informing.

"This tragic ending is not the outcome we were all hoping for," Prosecutor Bernard Carter said Friday in a statement. "The relentless efforts by all involved shows that Northwest Indiana has a big heart."

Boyfriend no stranger to murder
OTIS - Tim Tkachik was 16 years old when murder first touched his life.

On Feb. 12, 2003, his father, Barry Tkachik, shot his wife, Tim's mother, Michelle Tkachik, 39, and her sister, Jean Dakin, 38, of Portage, outside the family's two-story home at 10833 W. Division Road north of Otis. The 41-year-old then turned the high-powered, 12-gauge shotgun on himself in an upstairs bedroom.

At about 1:35 p.m., La Porte County Sheriff's deputies found Michelle's body slumped inside a silver minivan in the driveway of the home, while her sister's body laid beside the vehicle in the driveway.

La Porte County Deputy Coroner Mark Baker pronounced the victims dead at the scene, and remembers the double murder-suicide took place early in his career at the coroner's office.

"At that point in time it was horrendous," Baker said Friday. "Any time someone is killed, the coroner's office takes it to heart."

The home sat on five acres, approximately one mile northwest of where the body of 2-year-old Jada Justice was recovered Thursday near a set of railroad tracks off of West Snyder Road in Otis. Six years after his father committed murder and suicide, Tim Tkachik is being charged in the toddler's death.

IIRC, didn't the mother say that she left Jada with her cousin because she was going out of town? Is this a new version of the story?

Suspect in Jada Justice murder tazed before hearing


Engelica Castillo and Tim Tkachik.On Monday, police were forced to use a stun gun on one of the two people accused of murdering 2-year-old Jada Justice.

Tim Tkachik, 24, appeared for his court hearing with a bruise on his left cheek and his head bandaged.

Nwi.com reported that a spokesperson for the county, Michael Higgins, said while Tkachik was in a holding cell he “got up on a table and was trying to get into an electrical panel. He was asked nicely to get down and when he didn’t they had to use a Tazer.”
