A 20-year old Graham woman has been missing for more than a week, and her parents are frantic as they look for her.
Candice Shields was last seen at the home of her grandparents, Johnny and Diana Salinas, in the 1300 block of Pearl Street on the evening of Dec. 10.
“The last time they saw her was at 9:30 or 10 p.m. She was starting a new job at Whataburger in Graham the next morning. She gathered her things to go to bed,” said Shield’s mom, Michelle Quillin. “My dad got up in the middle of the night around 2:30 or 3 a.m. and checked on her, and she was gone. He looked all over the house. He noticed the front door was still locked, but the back door of the house was unlocked. He looked out the back door and didn’t see her, and he called us the next morning and told us she was missing. She was not in her bed.”
Shields, who is three months pregnant, left all of her belongings behind.
“She just mysteriously left her grandparents’ house in the middle of the night. She didn’t take any of her things — no clothes, personal belongings, no personal hygiene things, nothing,” said her stepfather Ronnie Quillin. “She’s practically welded to her cell phone, but she left her cell phone, her purse, her ID, money, everything.”
Michelle said she and her husband have talked to neighbors to see if they saw anything that night but to no avail.
“Nobody saw anything, and they have three dogs in the back and two Dachshunds that bark at the drop of a hat. They bark if a leaf gets turned over, and my dad gets up and looks out, and they did not bark that night whatsoever,” she said.
The Quillins, who have recently moved to San Antonio, spent four days in Graham searching for their daughter. Michelle said she knew something was wrong when she didn’t get a call from Candice last week.
“My birthday was Dec. 14, and my husband and I have six children. Out of our six children, she is the first one to call me in the morning,” she said. “She didn’t call, text, send me anything in the mail. By that evening, I knew in my gut, in my heart of hearts, I knew something was wrong with my baby. We immediately packed and left and headed to Graham Wednesday, and we started asking around and talking to people. We went to the police and filed a missing person’s report.”
There’s also been no online activity for Shields since her disappearance.
“She’s a constant Facebook updater. She’s always on it and there’s no activity,” Michelle said.
The last status update for Shields is dated Dec. 11 at 12:38 a.m.
Shields also hasn’t spoken to her friend she usually relies on in times of need, Marissa Munn.
“She is the one that Candice goes to when she’s in trouble, needs anything. Marissa even said this is not like Candice,” Michelle said.
Munn, along with the Salinas, inventoried the belongings Shields left and determined what she was wearing.
“Marissa knows everything she owns. They were roommates in Midland. She said her black hoodie, her black sweatpants with the Xbox logo and her white Nikes are missing so we know that’s what she was wearing,” Michelle said.
The Quillins fear that because their daughter is an adult, the police are not taking the investigation seriously, but they also know they may not have much to go on.
“They think because she’s 20 that she’s just gone missing because she doesn’t want to be found. But I don’t think so. I think she’s gone because something desperately wrong has happened to her, or she doesn’t want to be found because she’s scared,” said Michelle.
Shields was recently threatened by the ex-girlfriend of a man she was dating.
“We have heard word that’s she’s running for her life,” said Michelle. “She’s been threatened because of a former boyfriend that she was seeing. His ex threatened to take Candice out because she wanted him back. She made threats in front of witnesses that she was going to take out Candice anyway she could to get (him) back. Police said they have already talked to her, and she denied making the threats.”
Graham Police Chief Tony Widner said Monday that the search for Shields is ongoing.
“We are still inquiring. We are receiving sketchy reports and trying to check them out. We still ask anybody in the public that has spoken with her or seen her to contact us and let us know and if they know where she is, that she contact us to let everybody know that she’s safe,” Widner said.
The Graham PD has entered Shield as a welfare concern/missing person on the Texas and National Law Enforcement computer systems as well as contacted law enforcement agencies in areas where she has been in the past.
“We’re contacting any agency that we have any reason to believe that she might be in their jurisdiction,” said Widner.
The Quillins said as a teenager, Shields did some foolish things, but nothing like this. Michelle said her daughter never went more than 24 to 36 hours without letting her know where she was.
“Everything is adding up to something is wrong, and we hope to God we’re wrong. We’d love nothing more than for her to pop up and go, ‘Ha, ha, the jokes on you,’ but it’s not looking like that,” said Ronnie.
The worst possible outcome is very real for the Quillins because the family has seen firsthand what can happen in a situation like this. They were close to Bridget Herard, the teenage girl who disappeared in December 2009 and whose body was found six weeks later.
“She was a friend of my daughter. She spent the night at our house two weeks prior to her disappearing. We don’t want this to end up like another Bridget case,” said Michelle. “This does not need to be taken lightly. We can’t let this go that far. Hailey Dunn, the girl from Colorado City, Dec. 18 is a year for her and nobody’s heard anything. We don’t want her to go this far. This is just something that ... Graham does not need this to happen again.”
She said the rumor mill is not helping in any way.
“There are so many rumors going around that Candice is with somebody or that she has been found. We, as the parents through the media, will let you know when she’s been found,” Michelle said.
She said she is appreciative of the support but hopes the community will continue to look for her daughter.
“It’s great we’ve had so many people post her picture on Facebook and so many people call us and say they’re praying for her safe return, but with as many people looking, there’s been nothing — absolutely nothing,” Michelle said. “I hope everyone will comb the fields or if they’re driving or riding their bike, go down a different path and just see. Look for anything unusual. Hopefully, everybody will say a prayer, keep the lights on and let her know that you’re there for her and take another path everyday and maybe they will see something.
“It’s really hard to stay focused, but I’m trying to focus and pray and keep an open mind. I’m trying to stay optimistic, and I know that the Lord will guide her home. I hope that’s enough.”
If you have any information about the whereabouts of Shields or know of anything about her disappearance, contact the Graham Police Department at 549-6441 or call the Quillins at (432) 349-1434 or (432) 212-9676.

Candice Shields is Missing
December 20, 2011 04:55 PM EST
Candice Shields, a 20-year-old Graham woman, has been missing for over a week. As her family is frantic to find her, it appears that there are no real updates in her disappearance. What happened to the pretty 20-year-old woman?
Sources report that Candice Shields vanished in the middle of the night from her grandparents' home.
"She just mysteriously left her grandparents' house in the middle of the night. She didn't take any of her things — no clothes, personal belongings, no personal hygiene things, nothing," said her stepfather.
Candice is reportedly pregnant and it's been speculated that she is possibly hiding on her own so as not to be found. However, her family is distraught that she's been missing for now over a week. Christmas is approaching, and with Candice Shields gone under such mysterious circumstances, her family isn't facing a joyous holiday season. Hopefully if this woman is under some duress, she can find her way to safety and get in touch with her family. Otherwise, hopefully she finds the courage to let her family know if she went willingly.

Young pregnant mother missing for nearly two weeks
GRAHAM, Texas – Concern is growing for a pregnant North Texas mother who has been missing for nearly two weeks.
Candice Shields, 20, disappeared early Dec. 11 from her grandparent’s home in Graham, 90 miles northwest of Fort Worth.
“I think in the back of my mind, someone has taken my daughter,” said her mother, Michelle Quillin.
Family members say Shields is the mother to a 17-month-old son and is also three months pregnant.
Shields’ grandparents woke up the morning of the 11th to discover Shields gone. Her clothes, purse, wallet, even her cell phone were all left behind.
“For a woman... to leave without a phone,” said her grandfather Johnny Salinas, “it’s very out of the ordinary.”
Police suspect she simply walked out of the house in her pajamas to meet someone, but they have no idea who or where she went.
“There is nothing at this point to make us believe she did anything but voluntarily left on her own,” said Lt. Jim Reeves from the Graham Police Department. “There’s nothing to say foul play.”
Still, he admits he’s puzzled by the case - there’s no clue as to where she went. Investigators have interviewed all her friends and her boyfriend.
“Their stories check out,” Reeves said.
Her family says it is highly unusual for Shields to simply leave without telling anyone.
“There is something wrong,” Quillin said. “This is not normal for Candice.”
The case has rattled the small town of Graham. Her parents have been driving up from San Antonio to hand out “missing” fliers. Henry Potter, the owner of a local pizza parlor, has been attaching a flier to every box of pizza his restaurant delivers.
“The more days that pass, the concern spreads,” Potter said.
Shield’s family worries their daughter’s disappearance is similar to that of another young mother who vanished nearby.
In July of 2010, Shonda Townsend, 19, disappeared after leaving a party in Mineral Wells, about 40 miles south of Graham. After a year of searching, the young mother’s body was found in a rural field in October. Police have not made any arrests.
Both Townsend and Shields are nearly the same age with young sons.
“They both have the same story,” said Shield’s mother Michelle Quillin. “It’s spooky.”
Her stepfather worries both cases may have the same ending.
“Whoever did that to Shonda has not been caught,” Ronnie Quillin said. “To have that floating around in your mind is scary as hell.”
Police say the cases are very different. There’s nothing in Shield’s case to indicate foul play, and Lt. Reeves insists there is no connection between the two women’s disappearances.
“I have absolutely - absolutely - zero, zip, nada to believe that [they’re connected] at this point,” Reeves said.
Shields is described as being about 5-foot-3 and about 130 pounds. She was last seen wearing a black hoodie, black and green pajama pants with an "Xbox 360" logo, and white tennis shoes. Anyone with information should call Graham Police at 940-549-1212.

Here is her FB. Check out "about me". Says she is a "dancer". On her wall, says she needs a car so she won't have to "walk to work". As Raine pointed out, makes the statement, "I don't know what to do anymore". Her bf says "dat" for "that". Ugh!!
Very interesting.

p.s. The comment about "staying" is very revealing to me. And, they both have children already it seems.

Search for missing Graham woman continues
Posted 12/20/2011 02:59 pm

No tangible leads in search for missing Graham woman
Mineral Wells Index
By Chris Agee | cagee@mineralwellsindex.com
GRAHAM – After more than a month of following up on numerous leads, including reported sightings, police in Graham say they are no closer to finding Candace Shields, a 20-year-old pregnant woman.
Shields was reported missing Dec. 15 by her mother, Michelle Quillin, who lives in San Antonio and traveled to Graham to make the report.
“We’re just being hopeful that she’s out there somewhere and if someone’s got her that they’re treating her decent,” Quillin said.

Searchers continue to look for Shields
Efforts to find missing person Candice Shields are still ongoing. Shields, 20, disappeared from her grandparents’ house in the 1300 block of Pearl Street during the early morning hours of Dec. 11.
Graham police have been following leads but as of yet have not determined what happened to the pregnant woman.
Alisha Reeves, state outreach coordinator for CUE — Community United Effort, is organizing a ground campaign next week.
Reeves said the case has received national media interest from CNN, the Nancy Grace Show and Dr. Phil, but has yet to air on any of those programs. (a lot of good that does!!!)
She and the family will continue to work with the local media in the hopes that someone knows something about Shields’ whereabouts.
Monday, Reeves is looking for volunteers to help canvas the community with flyers.
“We want to update the flyers and get them out so that way if anyone wants to go online and give a tip, they can do it anonymously,” Reeve said. “If anyone saw something suspicious that night like a strange car in the area or strange person or anything they can report that.”
Many people have expressed an interest in helping to find Shields. Reeves said this is their chance.
Volunteers are asked to meet at the Old Ag Barn on Highway 67 on Monday morning between 9 and 9:45 a.m.
“We’ll have a short briefing once everyone’s there, and we’ll lay out the plan as far as how the day’s going to go,” Reeves said.
Those involved and Shields’ family are hoping that blanketing the community with new flyers will help new information surface.
“We just hope that something turns up. That people won’t just throw away the flyers but really look at them and study her picture and think back really hard to that night, that weekend,” Reeves said. “We want you to try and think back as hard as you can to that night and where you were and what you were doing.”
Law enforcement follows up on all possible leads and information and even minor details could be checked into and lead to something else, Reeves said.
“We just want people to know that the search continues and we’re looking for anything that seems insignificant to someone else,” Reeves said. “It could be very pertinent in her case.”
Although substantial leads seem to be in short supply, there’s no shortage of rumor surrounding the case.
Reeves said it’s become impossible for she and CUE volunteers to keep up with the onslaught of online comments, but they’re trying to mitigate it.
“We try to eliminate some of those rumors,” Reeves said. “It takes the stress off of Mom. But they’re always going to be out there especially when you have something like this in a small town. We try to keep people updated so that will help when people are searching for information.”
Some of those rumors are circulating via a Facebook page that is not endorsed by Shield’s family.
“There’s a lot of rumor online including a Facebook page set up and operated by a source unknown to us and not associated with CUE or the family,” said Reeves. “So we’ve set up a Facebook to be maintained and monitored by the family.”
That page is the group “Official Facebook Page — Help Find Candice Shields” which was created Wednesday.
More information can be found on the CUE website at ncmissingperson.org. To report information about Shield’s whereabouts or her disappearance, call the Graham Police Department at 549-6441.

Just catching up, reading up on this case now, I have the same impression (not good) of the characters in this drama as Raine, from the looks of the FB pages and posts. I will never be able to figure this case out, their lifestyles seem so far away from mine. It does however remind me of other cases we have discussed here, not very promising I might add to be reminded of them.

Volunteers go door to door in search for Shields
by Cherry Rushin
(Posted Today 01:42 pm)
Approximately 20 volunteers gathered Monday to pound the pavement in an effort to find missing woman Candice Shields. Shields, a pregnant 20 year old who has been missing since Dec. 11.
Friends, family members and others who have never met Shields met at the Old Ag Barn Monday morning along with Community United Effort volunteers to learn the game plan for a ground campaign.
“We’re trying to raise awareness in the community that Candice is still missing and her family wants her home,” said Nicole Carney, CUE volunteer, told the volunteers.
The volunteers went door-to-door in some neighborhoods with flyers and also to businesses in Graham to replace older flyers with new ones.
They are hoping the flyers might help jog someone’s memory of any thing seen around the time of Shields’ disappearance.
The new flyers have an anonymous tipline, (910) 232-1687, for those hesitant to call the police.
Shield’s mother, Michelle Quillin, thanked the volunteers for taking the time to help find her daughter and said people may approach them with information.
“If they tell you something, write it down. You never know who you’re going to run into out there,” said Quillin. “We’ve been in town a couple of days and people are coming up to us and giving us information, and we’re turning that over to the police.”
She said she and her husband Ronnie just want her daughter found.
“It’s been really hard. We just want to bring her back,” Quillin said. “I know sometimes when you’re a teenager you don’t really know what you’re doing, but this is not like her. We don’t know if she’s afraid for her life or what.”
The group split into four groups of five and each armed with a bag full of flyers and a map outlining a specific area of town, set out to cover as much ground as possible.
Before they headed out, Tina Stringer, CUE volunteer from Dallas, said Monday was just a start.
“It takes constant daily effort,” Stringer said. “My friend has been missing for a year and a half in Dallas and there are people who still don’t know that she’s missing. Time is of the essense.
“We need to get the word out now.”

Texas police call disappearance of young pregnant woman 'unusual'
Texas authorities say they have no evidence to indicate foul play in the case of a missing young pregnant woman, but are calling her disappearance "unusual."
Candice Shields, 20, was last seen on the night of Dec. 10 at her grandparents' home in Graham, Texas, Lt. James "Jim" Reeves of the Graham Police Department told FoxNews.com. She was reported missing by her family on Dec. 15.
Reeves said cellphone records indicate Shields used her phone to make a call from the home at around 2:30 a.m. on Dec. 11. Her cellphone was left at the residence she shared with her grandparents, he said.
Family members told investigators that Shields was three months pregnant at the time of her disappearance and had no known history of substance abuse or mental health issues, according to Reeves.
"Is it unusual? Yes," Reeves said of the case.
Reeves also said Shields did not own a car and had no known mode of transportation.
Fox affiliate KDFW-TV reported that the young woman was expected to start a new job on Dec. 11 and did not take any of her personal belongings from her grandparents' home.
Shields' parents have so far distributed hundreds of fliers in the Graham area in the hopes of generating tips in the case, according to the station.
Police have described the woman as 5 feet 3 inches tall and weighting approximately 130 pounds. She was last seen wearing a black-hooded shirt, black and green pajama pants with an "Xbox 360 logo" and white tennis shoes.
Anyone with information on Shields' whereabouts is being urged to contact the Graham Police Department at 940-549-1212.

Thanks Raine - so the baby on his facebook page is the one he just had? Wow - who is raising these young people up to have kids left and right? I dont understand this - now they dont get married but its okay for them all to get pregnant with all these different partners - there has to be something really wrong with these situations - what arent parents teaching their children about this kind of irresponsibility. They talk like their are in high school. Candice at 20 with no car and just got a job pregnant. This is so disturbing.

The highest teen pregnancy rates in the U.S. are in low-income areas, and a surprising new study finds that in these communities, teens also have the most difficulty accessing emergency contraception. Researchers found that pharmacists in low-income areas frequently deny 17-year-old girls access to Plan B.
ABC News reports that although pharmacies in low-income areas are just as likely to stock the drug, many pharmacists are misinformed about the law which makes Plan B available for purchase without a prescription by 17-year-olds.
Plan B became accessible for adults to purchase without a prescription in 2006. And in 2009, the FDA lowered the age at which Plan B could be purchased over-the-counter to 17 years of age.
The researchers called over 900 pharmacies in five states, with the caller posing as a 17-year-old girl trying to obtain Plan B over-the-counter after having unprotected sex. Of the pharmacies that claimed to have the pill available, 19 percent said that under no circumstances could the 17-year-old buy the emergency contraception.
But researchers at the Boston Medical Center found that many pharmacists and pharmacy staff members were not made aware of the change in legislation. They attribute possible sources of the problem to the wealth of misinformation about emergency contraception, as well as unclear box labels and advertising.
The study was released in the wake of a survey by the Centers of Disease Control and Prevention, which found that roughly one third of teen mom didn't take birth control because they didn't believe that they could get pregnant.

I posted the above about teen pregnancy and the fact that low-income women dont have access to options for birth control. I dont know if that was the case here in Candaces pregnancy, but I wonder what these options would have meant if she did indeed have access. Maybe Wrap, can suggest a better place for this article.

I understand what you are saying, so lets leave it here and let Wrap decide. I agree on the low income and birth control.

I think it's just fine where it is. I did a double take too, Raine, but am brain dead so that may have something to do w/it. NOT saying YOU are brain dead. LOL.
I was under the impression anyone can go to planned parenthood and get birth control. They give it to you for free or on a sliding scale, right there. At least, they did w/me. And, then there are condoms, or abstinence..Parish the Thought!!

Candlelight vigil for missing Graham woman Candice Shields
Dozens gathered Saturday evening to shine a light on the search for missing Graham woman Candice Shields.
A candlelight vigil took place at the Courthouse Gazebo for friends, family and some who never met Shields but want to see her found.
Shields disappeared from her grandparents’ home on Pearl Street in Graham on the early morning of Dec. 11. Despite an intensive search by her family and the Graham Police Department, no sign of Shields has been found.
Shields’ mother Michelle Quillan thanked the CUE network for its help in the search along with family and friends who have helped, including a vast network of truck drivers who have been taking missing persons flyers all over of the country.
“We don’t know for what cause or what reason, but in the middle of the night she disappeared without a trace,” said Quillan. “She didn’t take her phone. She didn’t take her purse. She didn’t take her clothes. She didn’t take anything. She didn’t leave a note saying, ‘Hey mom, I can’t take it anymore.’
“It’s been 92 days since she’s texted or called. Ninety-two days is a long time to go without knowing where your daughter is.”
She asked everyone to please keep searching.
“We still need to be looking. Take a different route,” she said. “Leave a light on for her and take a different route. You never know what you’re going to see when you turn a different corner.”

One Year Anniversary of Disappearance of Candice Shields

Candice Shields a young mother from Graham went missing one year ago Monday. Monday evening dozens of people came to remember her and bring attention to her disappearance once again with a candlelight vigil.
Candice was 20 and three months pregnant when she disappeared. She left behind her family and her young son Christopher who is now 2.5 years-old.
It's been a long year for her family. Everyday they wake up waiting for that call that she is alive but that hasn't come, still it doesn't mean they've given up hope.
There's a lot of pictures that fill the living room of Candice's grandfather's home. Her brown locks are tucked behind her ear and she's always smiling with those beautiful green eyes. Her mother hopes that right at this moment she's still doing that.
"If she is out there I hope she is safe and someone is either protecting her, helping her
or guiding her," said Mother, Michelle Quillin.
Candice went missing the night of December 10, 2011. They know she left the house on her own and went out the back door. What happened after that still remains a mystery.
"It's been hard but I pray each and every day for her."
The day before she disappeared her family says she received a threat from a coworker. Police checked into that and nothing panned out. Weeks before she disappeared Candice had talked to her family and friends wondering how they would feel if she left. That's what makes them think she still may be out there, alive.
"If she left on her own to be by herself or with somebody if she would just let us know," said grandfather, Johnny Salinas.
"Candice if there is a way that you could get ahold of us and let us know you are safe," said mother Michelle Quillin.
Her mother's desperation to see her child again keep their search efforts strong.
The Graham Police Department has followed several tips over the course of the past year. They've checked into all of them, but nothing has led them to her. If you have any information please contact the department at (940) 549-1212 or call the anonymous tip line at CUE CENTER for Missing Person's at 910-232-1687.

Candice Shields: Man arrested in connection with disappearance of Texas woman
FEBRUARY 5, 2013
BY: JERRIE DEAN
The Texas Department of Public Safety stated on Tuesday that they had arrested Jeremy Paul Thornburg, 24, of Sweetwater in Abilene and charged him with the murder of his girlfriend, Candice Shield, reports KWTX news.
Candice Shields, 20, who was 3-months pregnant when she went missing was last seen at her house of her grandparent's, Johnny and Diana Salines on the 1300 block of Pearl Street in Graham, Texas, where she lived with her 2-year-old child, over a year ago.
"Investigators developed information that shows Thornburg had traveled to Graham on the night of the disappearance and met at her [Candice Shields] residence in Graham. Shields then left the residence with Thornburg in the early hours on Dec. 11, 2011," Tony Fulton, the DPS Public Information Officer told the media.
Candice went to bed early because she was to start a new job at Wahtaburger in Graham the following morning, according to her mother, Michelle Quillin. When Candice's grandfather, Johnny got up in the night he saw that Candice was gone and the back door was unlocked.
Candice took no clothes or personal item and left her cell phone, purse, money and ID behind.
No one in the neighborhood saw or heard anything. One neighbor who has three Dachshunds, told the Graham Leader that her dogs did not make a sound.
Early on in the investigation of her disappearance, information surfaced on Facebook that Candice was also recently threatened by the ex-girlfriend of a man she was dating, Jeremy Thornburg. Jeremy posted on FB -
"well FB im really worried and stressing out because today i found out my girlfriend and future mother of my child has disappeared and no one has heard from her i just have to stay positive and hope for the best if anyone knows anything of her where abouts please inform me or her family"
The authorities identified who the person was and talked with her and she denied making threats.
Big County Home Page reported that "within the past few hours there was a news conference in Graham were local police discussed remains recently discovered that could be Shields."
If you have any information about the case, please call the Graham Police Dept at 549-6441.

Second Arrest Made in Murder of Candice Shields
A second person is arrested in the murder of a 20-year-old Graham woman.
Authorities in Young County arrested 22-year-old Lajuana Shunta Long. She is charged with the murder of Candice Shields. Long is being held in the Young County Jail on a $750,000 bond. Officials say Long is from Graham.
Shields was last seen at her grandparents' home on Dec. 10, 2011.
Officials say she was three-months pregnant then, and also had a one-and-a-half year-old child.
On Feb. 6, authorities arrested 24-year-old Jeremy Paul Thornburg of Sweetwater. He's also charged with murder. Officials say Thornburg has been a person of interest in the case since Shields disappeared. Investigators say he had been in a "personal relationship" with Shields.

TEXSAR Searches for Clues in Candice Shields Disappearance
By: Melissa Foy
Updated: March 10, 2013
Volunteers in Graham spent the day scouring different locations trying to find the remains of a Graham woman who's been missing for more than a year.
Candice Shields was last seen at her grandparents' home on Dec. 10, 2011.
She was 20-years-old at the time.
Officials say she was three-months pregnant then, and also had a one-and-a-half year-old child.
Representatives with TEXSAR, an all volunteer search and rescue team, looked for Shields' body yesterday and today.
They were following leads they've received since Shields went missing, but they did not find anything.
Last month, two people were charged with murder in Shields' disappearance.
They are 24-year-old Jeremy Paul Thornburg and 22-year-old Lajuana Shunta Long.
Friends and family members say at the time of her disappearance, Shields was pregnant by Thornburg.
They also say Long was also pregnant by Thornburg around the same time.

by Cherry Rushin
(Posted Today 09:27 am)
Last weekend, an official search party of more than 100 personnel search south of Graham for missing person Candice Shields.
DPS Sgt. Bryan Witt, with media and communications, said no remains were found.
DPS worked with a group based out of Austin called TEXSAR, which stands for Texas Search and Rescue.
The group which had a total of 84 TEXSAR personnel and partners from the Texas Maritime Regiment, set up a base out of the Graham High School gym.
Witt said the exact search location could not be released because of the pending investigation, but the group covered a large swath of the county.
The group came to assist at the request from DPS Texas Rangers division. Whether or not they will return will depend on if they receive another such request.
The search Saturday and Sunday involved over 1,500 man hours involving several local agencies and volunteers from as far away as Galveston. Six certified K9s were also used in the search.

Authorities in west Texas confirm discovery of remains in Sweetwater
Authorities Monday confirmed the discovery of remains found in the back yard of a home in Sweetwater, Texas. Sweetwater is located in the western part of the state in Nolan County.
"We did find remains; they are older, and we are waiting to determine if they will be sent to Texas Tech for analysis," according to Lieutenant Randy Hanes of the Sweetwater Police Department. "At this time, we have no additional information."
The discovery comes just over a week after human remains were found in Snyder, Texas, located 40 miles away in neighboring Scurry County. Authorities are still awaiting test results to identify those remains, and told The Examiner, "As soon as those tests come back from either Lubbock or Fort Worth, we'll know more."
While speculation continues as to whether or not those remains belong to missing west Texas cheerleader Hailey Dunn, the Sweetwater discovery only intensifies the anxiety of those awaiting more information about several missing people from the region. Sweetwater resident Jeremy Thornburg was arrested in February 2013 in the death of Texas mother Candice Shields; Thornburg's ex-girlfriend was arrested later in the month for the same charge.
Searchers and loved ones continue to look not only for Dunn and Shields, but also for missing west Texans Mark Ysasaga, William "Arlin" Bynum, and Jennifer Wilkerson, of nearby Hobbs, New Mexico. With 624 "open" missing persons cases in the Lone Star state, the region has become a hub for missing persons' advocates and volunteers.
