First Coast News
SATSUMA, Fla. -- This Friday, a vigil will be held for still missing Haleigh Cummings.
This year, the vigil will be held at the home of Annette Sykes, Haleigh's great grandmother.
The home is located at 302 Osceola Avenue, Satsuma.
The vigil is scheduled to take place at 6:30 p.m.
Friday marks three-and-a-half years since Haleigh disappeared.
Misty Croslin, the now ex-wife of Haleigh's father, Ronald Cummings, was the last person to have seen Haleigh prior to her disappearance. Croslin claims to have gone to sleep that night and when she awoke, Haleigh was gone.
Both Croslin and Haleigh's father Ronald are currently serving prison time for drug trafficking charges. The two were sentenced in early 2011 after undercover investigators made several illegal prescription drug purchases.
Investigators with the Putnam County Sheriff's Office have announced publicly they believe Haleigh is dead, but her family still remains hopeful she will be found alive.
The reward for information leading to Haleigh Cummings' whereabouts is $30,000.
If you have any information regarding the case you are asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-866-277-TIPS.

Vigil Being Held Tomorrow Night in Honor of HaLeigh Cummings
Posted on August 9th, 2012 by Jan Barrett
The name of this missing child, HaLeigh Cummings has become a well known name to all those that follow the cases of the missing children making the news. HaLeigh disappeared three and a half years ago from her home in Putnam County in Florida.
Her father’s, then girlfriend, Misty Croslin is supposedly the last person to have seen the 5 year old little girl. She claims they were all sleeping while Ronald Cummings, HaLeigh’s father, was at work. She claims she woke up to go to the bathroom when she noticed the back door was open and that is when she discovered HaLeigh was gone.
Misty remains one of the persons of interest even though she, Ronald and Misty’s brother are currently serving time in prison on drug charges since early 2011 after they were caught on camera making illegal prescription drug purchases. Some seem to think that having them in prison is in some way justice for HaLeigh but personally I believe that until someone is arrested for HaLeigh’s murder or disappearance, there is no justice in this case.
Although some seem to think HaLeigh is no longer alive there are some of us that still feel she is out there somewhere alive and well. I can’t accept she is gone unless they come up with her body. With a lot of tips coming in, she still hasn’t been found.
Until she is found, one way or another, HaLeigh’s Grandmother, Teresa Neves and her great grandmother, will continue holding vigil’s for HaLeigh which I completely understand. They miss their granddaughter and like me, they refuse to give up hopes of her coming home until she is found one way or another.
They are holding a vigil, Friday night, August 10, 2012 to be held at Annette Sykes home located at 302 Osceola Avenue in Satsuma, Florida. It is scheduled to take place at 6:30 p.m.
Please respect this family as they pray for their miracle. All they want is to find out where this precious child is. They need to know. If HaLeigh is gone, then at least allow the family to lay her to rest properly.
There is still a reward of around $30,000 for anyone with information that can lead the authorities to where HaLeigh might be. You can call Crime Stoppers are 1-866-277-TIPS if you know something.
She is special to me even though I never had the honor to meet her but I feel I know this child. I will not be able to attend the vigil in person but I will be saying a prayer for her and I will certainly light a candle for her.
HaLeigh your name will always be in my prayers and I know you will never be forgotten. God bless you sweetie, where ever you are.

I personally do NOT believe Misty "holds the key to getting answers". IMHO, she would have already talked. I think Mother Teresa needs to look at her son for "keys". MOO.
Feds review the Haleigh Cummings investigation

PUTNAM COUNTY, Fla. -- As a pinwheel spun outside Haleigh Cummings' great grandmother's home in Satsuma, family and friends gathered inside for a candlelight vigil. They prayed for the little girl's safe return and encouraged each other.
"It's been a rough three-and-a-half years," Teresa Neves, Haleigh's grandmother said. "It's hard to know what to say or do."
Tears rolled down Neves' face.
It's been three and a half years since Haleigh vanished in the middle of the night. Investigators questioned her family and family friends, including her father and his girlfriend who was taking care of her the night she disappeared.
No one has been arrested for Haleigh's disappearance, and she has not been found.
"We never get any new news, any morsel of anything," Neves said.
First Coast News has learned that this past spring the Putnam County Sheriff's Office took Haleigh's case file to Washington where various federal agencies poured over every detail.
Hancel Woods with the Putnam County Sheriff's Office said, "We wanted to make sure we hadn't missed anything."
One of the groups that got Haleigh's case is the FBI's Behavioral Analysis Unit. You may know them through the CBS show "Criminal Minds" which is based on the unit.
"They bring expertise as far as looking at the case from a different angle. They look at behavior and why people do the things they do," Woods said.
But after weeks of federal review, Woods said the federal groups told the Putnam County Sheriff's Office that local investigators had conducted a thorough investigation of the Haleigh Cummings case.
"We were actually hoping for more," Woods commented, "We were hoping for a key clue or a break that would come out of [the federal review]."
He said local investigators did get advice from the feds on what to do next and that the case is still open.
For now, a family prays and wants more.
"We want answers. It's time for answers," Neves said. "Three and a half years is way past time for answers."

Will we still be wishing HaLeigh a Happy Birthday next year when she would be 10 years old? Will she still be "missing"? Will there ever be an end to this horrible case with all its twists and turns that has gone on far too long?

Happy Birthday Haleigh Cummings!

Tomorrow marks the ninth birthday of Haleigh Cummings, who vanished without a trace from her Florida home on February 10th, 2009. In honor of this adorable little girl, Browning Pearce School, where Haleigh had been a student at the time of her disappearance, will hold a tree planting ceremony.
Haleigh was said to be sleeping in the same room with her brother, Junior, and her father's then-girlfriend, Misty Croslin, the night she went missing. Misty woke in the middle of the night to use the bathroom and discovered the back door propped open with a brick and no Haleigh.
Croslin later claimed that her cousin and her brother had come to the home that evening, searching for a gun that belonged to Haleigh's father, Ronald Cummings. When they couldn't find it, they took Haleigh, stuffed her into a black duffel bag, and left. So where was Croslin while this was happening? She was hiding under a blanket with Junior, listening to Haleigh scream as she was carried away. Tommy Croslin told his grandmother in taped conversations that Haleigh was killed in the home and thrown in the St. John's river, where he and cousin Joe Overstreet had gone to feed alligators. However, much like fellow Floridian Casey Anthony, Misty and Tommy Croslin seem to have issues separating fact and fiction. There have been sightings of Haleigh all over the country, including one tip from Tennessee that claims she was spotted in a vehicle with Overstreet as he tried to shield her. (Have followed this case from the get go and have NEVER heard this!)
Nearly all the members of this family have since been convicted and imprisoned for drug charges. Well, if they didn't have a problem with drugs before, of course they would after Haleigh's apparently brutal kidnapping. Is this comment suppose to be funny? Cause I'm not laughing.
Some believe that Haleigh is still alive somewhere, but no body has ever been recovered. Per request of Ronald Cummings (Really???), the ceremony will include the release of 9 balloons at 2:16. This is observed every year, as an honorarium to the little girl. Hopefully by this time next year, Haleigh will have been found and this family can go on. Of course, they would prefer she be alive and well, but if not, at least they can have some closure.
So, if you happen to remember her birthday tomorrow at 2:16, take a moment to think about Haleigh Cummings. Maybe you've seen her?

SATSUMA, Fla. -- People came together to celebrate what would've been Haleigh's ninth birthday today.
Family and friends released nine balloons, as requested by her jailed father, and planted a tree outside the classroom where she attended kindergarten.
Haleigh Cummings has been missing since February of 2009 while in the care of Misty Croslin. Croslin said she put Haleigh to bed and the girl vanished during the night. Haleigh was five years old then.
Croslin is now in jail on drug charges after marrying and divorcing Haleigh's father, Ronald Cummings. He is also in jail on drug charges.
Authorities have long said Misty has the keys to solving this missing child mystery. Haleigh has been declared dead by the sheriff's office but her body has not been found.
Her family is holding onto hope that she is still alive.
