BATTLE CREEK, Mich. (WOOD) - Police are looking for two Battle Creek children who left on a trip with a family friend and never returned home.

Harmony Boyd, 3, and her 1-year-old brother Hadden were last seen with Aaron Washington, 62.

Police say the children their mother were living with Washington at his Battle Creek home. The children left with Washington on Feb. 25 to go to West Virginia for a funeral, but were reported missing Tuesday after they failed to return home.

Harmony is 3 feet tall and weighs 32 pounds. Hadden is 2 feet tall and weighs 29 pounds.

Washington is described as a 6-foot-1, 200-pound black male. Washington is believed to be driving a 2004 Ford Explorer with Michigan license plate CNF 9789.

BATTLE CREEK, Mich. — The Battle Creek Police Department is looking for two children reported missing.

Officers told FOX 17 NEWS that the detective bureau is working to find Harmony Boyd, 3, and Hadden Boyd, 1. The pair were taken to a funeral in West Virginia late last month and haven’t been seen since. Police said the children were being transported to the funeral by Aaron Washington, who the childrne’s mother said was “like a father” to the kids.

The children were last seen Feb. 25. At that time Washington was driving a 2004 red Ford Explorer bearing Michigan license plate CNF 9789.

Battle Creek police told FOX 17 NEWS that no further details are available at this time.

CHILDREN FOUND: Two children, ages 1 and 3, were found unharmed Thursday in Martinsburg, W.Va., and the man with them was arrested on kidnapping charges.

Battle Creek police said the mother of the children told them Thursday that she gave permission for the man, Aaron Washington, 62, her mother’s former boyfriend and a man she described as like a father, to take the children on Feb. 25 with him to a funeral.

However Washington and the mother of the children argued over the phone a few days ago and when he wouldn’t answer calls from her, she reported the children missing, according to Battle Creek Police Department Detective Sgt. Jim Martens.

He said his detectives and the FBI began working to find the man after seeing some disturbing comments on his Facebook page about the world coming to an end.

Martens said the man turned on his phone, found several messages and had some conversations with the woman and the police. He was located and local police arrested him and found the children.

“There was not any indication of danger,” Martens said. Arrangements were being made Thursday to return the children to Battle Creek.

BATTLE CREEK, Mich. (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - The Battle Creek mother whose two kids went missing last month has been arrested in a prostitution sting. In March, Heather Arredondo was crying out for help. Her two young kids, a 1-year-old and 3-year-old had gone missing, kidnapped by her mother's ex-boyfriend. Eventually, the kids were found in West Virginia and returned home safely. Thursday night, Newschannel 3 learned that she was arrested earlier in the day in a prostitution sting. The 20-year-old mother of two was caught in an online sting charging $275 for sex. She talked to Newschannel 3 in March, desperate for help in finding her two young kids, 1-year-old Hadden Hopkins and 3-year-old Harmony Boyd, who were missing and not returned home on time after going to West Virginia to a funeral with her mother's ex-boyfriend. Arredondo's roommate would only say that she was "very, very" surprised by the arrest. We talked to Arredondo on the phone Thursday evening. "It was a mistake. It was my first time ever being involved in something like this. I was desperate for money," she explained. "What drives a person to go into this line of business," asked Battle Creek Police Detective Sergeant Jim Martens. "You gotta feel sorry for them to a point, but at the same time, it's just not acceptable." We're also told that Child Protective Services has custody of Arredondo's children ever since they were brought back safely from West Virginia. Some readers may recall that the FBI was also brought in to help with the search. Arredondo's roommate, however, doesn't believe she's a prostitute, simply saying, "she's not." The charge for solicitation of prostitution is a misdemeanor. Arredondo is home tonight after getting booked, and wouldn't tell us why she was so desperate for money.

The title of this thread used to read that Washington had permission from the Mother to taken the kids. With the latest info in the article above it's apparent it was the Grandmother who let the kids go.
