Insurance Money
Friday, Sept. 20, 2013
Dunwoody widow Andrea Sneiderman is fighting with her murdered husband's family over $2 million. It's Rusty Sneiderman's insurance money.
Hemy Neuman is in jail for killing Rusty Sneiderman. Andrea Sneiderman is in jail for lying about a relationship with Neuman.
Friday, a judge told both sides to, "cool things down."
"As hotly contested as I'm sure this whole issue is for both of your clients, you all have got to bring the clear cool heads to the table," said Fulton County Judge Doris Downs.
The insurance money has been frozen by the DeKalb County District Attorney for more than a year as prosecutors accused Andrea Sneiderman of murdering her husband Rusty.
"Representatives of that office swore under oath that Andrea Sneiderman was guilty of murder," said Sneiderman's attorney Mark Trigg.
As Channel 2 Action News reported, those prosecutors dropped the murder charge right before her trial.
"When it came time to put up or shut up...and prove the allegations before a jury, they shut up," Trigg said.
Friday, prosecutors officially dropped the forfeiture action of that $2.2 million in insurance money.
"There is no legal basis as of this point in time for the money to remain frozen," Trigg said.
However, with Andrea Sneiderman's parents in the courtroom, at times her mother was crying, her attorney did not get a win, at least not yet.
"She does not appear to be suffering or in grave need for these funds," said Esther Panitch, the attorney for Rusty Sneiderman's family.
She argued for the judge to re-freeze the money, pending the wrongful death lawsuit against Andrea Sneiderman.
"She has literally sacrificed others to obtain Russel Sneiderman's property and without intervention she'll continue to act in furtherance of ultimate goal, which is to keep as much money of his as possible and away from her children," Panitch said.
So after two hours in court, the judge ultimately signed two motions. First, unfreezing the money and then re-freezing it for another 90 days.
She urged both sides to use the time to settle so that most of the money could go to the two Sneiderman children and not to attorneys.

DEKALB COUNTY, Ga. — The widow of a man murdered outside a Dunwoody day care has been released from prison.
A jury convicted Andrea Sneiderman in 2013 of lying about an affair with her husband’s killer.
Hemy Neuman shot and killed Rusty Sneiderman outside his son’s Dunwoody preschool in 2010. He was convicted of murder in 2012 and is serving a life sentence.
Andrea Sneiderman was sentenced to 60 months at Lee Arrendale State Prison, but the state parole board decided she should serve 22 months. She was released early Monday morning.
Sneiderman denied having an affair with Neuman, but a jury found her guilty of perjury and making false statements in a 2013 trial.

Andrea Sneiderman released from prison
By Christian Boone
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
Andrea Sneiderman may be out of prison but her legal saga is far from over.
The Dunwoody widow, once implicated in the November 2010 murder of her husband, Rusty, was convicted last August of perjury and hindering the apprehension of a killer. Sneiderman’s former boss, Hemy Neuman, was convicted in the Nov. 2010 murder of Rusty Sneiderman outside a Dunwoody day care facility and is serving a life sentence without the possibility of parole.
“We are delighted that she’s home and we are vigorously pursuing her appeal,” said Andrea Sneiderman’s attorney, Brian Steel.
The appeal is based on what the defense claims was the allowance of inadmissible evidence from Neuman’s former Realtor during the perjury trial. Melanie White testified that Neuman shared details of an intimate encounter with Sneiderman during a getaway to London.
Sneiderman, 38, has insisted she was never romantically involved with Neuman, who is seeking a new trial of his own on the grounds that he was convicted on perjured testimony.
“One of my greatest regrets will be allowing this predator into my life and not being stronger for dispelling his advances sooner, ” Sneiderman said at her sentencing hearing last August.
The mother of two will remain under parole supervision until the completion of her sentence in Aug. 2017. Because she was sentenced under the First Offender Act, her nine felony convictions will be erased if she does not commit another offense before her sentence ends.

Re: Insurance Money
She makes me ill. I wish she would just disappear into oblivion, never to be seen or heard from again. She thinks she is the femme fatale, so clever and rid of one husband while using another man to ultimately get the man she now has.
UGH. It's over and I am going to try to forget all about Andrea What's-her-name.
