Wow, I am glad I totally missed what everyone is talking about! I viewed the memorial today and it made me cry for the loss of that beautiful child. Can't believe someone would stoop so low as to deliberately sabotage the memorial of a child that the comments here suggest----just awful! :(

Cory I just wanted to say I'm so sorry this had to happen. I respect and admire you so much! When you said your heart sunk to your knees it brought tears to my eyes. I'm sorry for the pain you had to endure today and I'm happy the tribute to your beautiful daughter is back!

Much as I hate to say it....that is what it felt like. Reading your post made a thought come to mind. For so long now, I have told myself "She's ok now. Noone can ever hurt her again." Cory, I am so glad you have had a good day!!! No matter what, please do your best to stay positive. You might think I am nut bar, but I think if we walk around with a lot of negativity (and I am NOT saying that YOU are - I am speaking in generalities) we will get negative things back at us. But, even though sometimes we have to force it, I feel that it is better to get up in the morning and try our best to be positive and if we do this enough, positive things will start happening for us.

I know that sometimes, things happen in our lives where we cannot and should not be happy or elated. And, I know that you have been through the ringer. And, I am so sorry that some people just don't look at the big picture before they act.

I really believe that you will start to see wonderful things happening for you and I truly believe that eventually, you will find closure.

No. Seriously. You do have a point there. I woke up so positive this morning and told myself that nothing was going to bring me down today. And I really did have a pleasant day! Got outside....got ONE arm sunburnt - the other one is white! (I am pale skinned), played yard darts, had a wonderful turkey dinner with my niece, came home and started cleaning out the laundry room (don't know why!!!). Then I decided the laundry room thing was not all that fun, SO HERE I AM!!!!!! :cheers:

i've been walking around with a frown on my face for oh.. 5 years i think, and it showed literally, a frown showed on my mouth and people respond to that. i think this year, ive really started to turn it upside down, (my medication really helped get over that hump) i looked in the mirror to check my mouth and its starting to curl up again like it used to be. they used to call me cherub in grad school.

I know you will always love your daughter and you will never ever forget her, but please take care of yourself cause it takes a toll on your cherub.

Juanita, isn't it like a miracle when you find yourself smiling for no reason...My mouth was downturned too, frightened me how unhappy I looked and felt.You are right, the right meds do help.

Hi folks, sorry i've been quiet of late, busy with work and then i was ill..

Anyhow, i would ask if people follow this thread, they stay on point...The plan is to look at the day in sections, and then see if anything new comes up...

So with that here goes first section :

LF-victim Leah Freeman, she was wearing a white “wifebeater” t-shirt, jeans, Nike shoes
CC or Cory -victim's mother
NM-victim's boyfriend
BB-boyfriend's best friend
SM-victim's friend
DF-victim's sister
TM-local resident who finds evidence
SN-high school teacher

Afternoon hours of 6/28/00-

NM and LF and LF spent time at LF's home located at 1173 Knott Street, Coquille, OR 97423 cleaning NM's car,its graduation and theres some writing on the car to the effect of "2000 rock" etc ...Car is a '67 blue Mustang
LF/NM leave ..Cory as stated as its not a school night ,LF is allowed out to 11pm..They pick up BB, then to NM's home at 56246 Baker Road for videos
They travel to BB's grandparents (who are on holiday) home at 2008 North Fir to watch the videos
NM/BB leave to pick up food, they come back and they eat...
In one affidavit it seems BB's girlfriend was also at the home < Unnamed GF, we have no info at all about this young lady ..


ANYTHING that staring at you about THIS section of the day please post !!!

First obvious questions

1) Had the Boyfriend come to pick Leah up there?? Was Leah waiting for him, or had they arrived together etc ...
2) What had Leah told Cory about her plans for that day..
3) Mood at this stage, i seem to remember was fine?

Leah had to be home at 11 so I doubt she planned on going any where from 9 when she left her friends house until 11:00 pm. I think those girls planned on going for a jog or a walk. Lindamarie, YES I do believe Leah was walking her normal route home that night. She was on the opposite side of the street from where her street was on and I think that is because there is more side walk on the opposite side. Honestly, I think something happened when she crossed the street to get back on the other side street (the side her home street was on) and didn't make it :( But then I have to wonder, why was one of her shoes found on a side street next to the cemetery on the same side of the street she was last seen walking? Leading to my questions:

1) Did she try to cross the street?
2) did she make it to that side street next to the cemetery by walking, or was she drug there?


One thing I do know is that I find it VERY unlikely that she was headed to BB's Grandparents house, because if you look at my google maps, BB's Grandparents house is a ways out there and I highly doubt a 15 yr old would be thinking of walking out there all alone.

Something isn't right here. Leah wasn't seen walking on the opposite side of the street. The way I understand it, she walked straight up central blvd and our home at the time was on that same side of the street.(?)

For question two.......my "guess" is she saw "someone" she knew across the street (cemetary).....my guess is this is where "things" began to go wrong. Again - a guess.

All I can say about when she left the Mitchell home that night is her best friend AND myself totally believe she was headed for home......not the Haga residence.

Ok, so Cory, you have to be right that she saw someone she knew so she crossed the street. My Guess.. and of course MIO, that person she saw just happened to be her BF Nick, and he would be coming from that direction Right? That is probably when there was an altercation, perhaps she crossed the street to get in his car, but they got into a fight so she started walking up that street next to the Cemetery, where another altercation took place, thus leaving the first shoe at that location?

Sorry! Been a bit distracted here lately!!

1) Yes he met Leah at our home.
2) She told me when she was getting ready to leave (4:00 pm) that they were going to his house and then he was taking her to Cheri's at 7:00. She mentioned movies too, but I'm not remembering her saying they were going to the Haga/Bartley residence to watch them, but she may have.

So what's the deal? His parents told him he couldn't use their car........so he goes and steals it? Um....I've been to their house. I don't see how he could "steal" their car without their knowing. ( I don't care for her....can ya tell?????!!!!!!) See - again, this is the part that bugs me - his parents.

I guess I thought the only contact he had at your house that night was the throwing the rock at the window at some point which he claimed to have done, Right? Or am I wrong about that too? Man, I need a refresher course on this case again... this is a disgrace on my part

LOL! No you are right about that. He did claim to come by and throw a rock at her window and it seems like he said he did this at 2:30 am. Even that doesn't compute. Why would he bother going there, throwing a rock at her bedroom window (this is the second story of the house where her room was) and never bother knocking or ringing the doorbell?
