I watched Castro on HLN earlier blathering on about what a wonderful family life they all had, and how the girls were always asking him for sex. So disgusting he refuses to take any blame for this. Not sure if he's crazy or delusional, but I'm so glad he will never get out!

IF the girls were asking him for sex it was probably because that's when he would unchain them!!!!!!!!!!
I think the guy is delusional in his belief that those girls wanted to be there locked inside his house, cut off from their families, beaten, raped and tortured!

Ariel Castro's Children Salvage Memories From His House
The Cleveland house where Ariel Castro held three women captive for a decade will be torn down this week, and his two children showed up Monday to salvage mementoes.
As part of his guilty plea to 937 counts of rape, kidnapping and aggravated murder, Castro is paying the county-overseen Cuyahoga Land Bank more than $22,000 to have the house demolished — a project that will begin Wednesday, the bank told NBC News on Monday.
Under the watchful eyes of Cleveland police, Angie and Anthony Castro arrived Monday morning at the house on Seymour Avenue where they spent part of their childhoods in the 1990s, NBC station WKYC of Cleveland reported. In what they called a "demolition party," they were allowed to remove family photos and other personal effects that were inside the house.
"There were a lot of personal photos that were in the house of the children, Angie and Anthony, who are here today, and they were able to find those things — some of the mementoes they had of their mother, as well," said Castro's attorney, Craig Weintraub. "They were amidst a lot of junk that's in that house."
Anthony Castro told NBC's TODAY last week that his father "doesn't have any value for human life," and Monday, he said it was emotional and difficult for him and his sister to go back into the house.
"It's stressful to do this, but this is one of the last steps for our family to put this all behind us, and we're looking forward to doing that," Anthony Castro told WKYC.
Michelle Knight — one of the three women Castro kidnapped between 2002 and 2004 and held until they escaped in May, along with Amanda Berry and Gina DeJesus — visited the street Friday to thank neighbors for their support.
"She didn't say a lot. She thanked us," Altagracia Tejeda, the neighbor across the street from Castro's house, told NBC News.

Ariel Castro's House Of Horrors In Cleveland Being Demolished
August 07, 2013
With several swipes from the arm of an excavator and a smattering of applause from spectators, demolition began Wednesday morning on the Cleveland house where three women were held captive and raped over a decade.
The house is being torn down as part of a deal that spared Ariel Castro a possible death sentence. He was sentenced last week to life in prison plus 1,000 years.
But the question remains: How could the crimes go unnoticed so long in Castro's blue-collar neighborhood?
One of the women imprisoned there, Michelle Knight, showed up early Wednesday before the work began. She made a brief statement and released balloons into the air.
Katie Mae Brown, 62, a former resident of the street, said tearing the house down was important for the neighborhood to show "that monster -- that he is behind bars and that he's never going to get out."
Cuyahoga County prosecutor Tim McGinty said the two houses to the left of Castro's are also being torn down and will be developed into a park or whatever the residents decide.
Prosecutors say Castro cried when he signed over the house deed and mentioned his "many happy memories" there with the women. They highlighted the teary-eyed scene to illustrate Castro's "distorted and twisted" personality.
On Wednesday, McGinty called him "one evil guy."
Family members, including his son, Anthony Castro, went to the house Monday and picked up personal items including old photographs, guitars and bicycles.
Relatives said the house razing was part of the healing process for them. "It's sad and hard but it is necessary for us to move on," Anthony Castro told WKYC-TV.
The three women disappeared separately between 2002 and 2004, when they were 14, 16 and 20 years old. Each had accepted a ride from Castro.
They escaped May 6, when Amanda Berry, now 27, broke part of a door and yelled to neighbors for help. Castro was arrested that evening.
At Castro's sentencing, prosecutors displayed photos that provided a first glimpse inside the rooms where the women lived.
Stuffed animals lined the bed and crayon drawings were taped to the wall where Berry lived with her young daughter, who was fathered by Castro. One of the drawings on a shelf said, "Happy Birthday."
The window was boarded shut and door knobs had been removed and replaced with multiple locks. Saucer-size holes in inside doors were meant for circulation.
Another room, shared by Knight and Gina DeJesus, had a portable toilet, a clock radio and several chains.
The house, which quickly became a drive-by attraction after the women fled to freedom, was fenced off and kept under 24-hour police guard amid arson threats.

Report: Ariel Castro dead Watch this video Ohio kidnapper held 3 women for nearly 10 years Ariel Castro, who pleaded guilty to 937 counts of kidnapping, rape and murder, was found hanging in his cell at the Correctional Reception Center in Orient, Ohio, l
CNN) -- Ariel Castro who was sentenced to life plus 1,000 years for kidnapping, raping and holding captive three women was found hanging in his prison cell Tuesday night.
Officials found Castro, 52, hanging in his cell at the Correctional Reception Center in Orient, Ohio, about 9:20 p.m., the state's Department of Corrections said.
Prison medical staff tried to revive him but failed.
Castro was taken to The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center where he was pronounced dead at 10:52 p.m.
Castro's brother-in-law, Juan Alicea, told CNN that the family was aware of the media reports. But it has not been contacted by the corrections department.
Castro was not a part of the general prison population, officials said.
"He was housed in protective custody which means he was in a cell by himself and rounds are required every 30 minutes at staggered intervals," JoEllen Smith of the corrections department told CNN in a statement.
"A thorough review of this incident is underway," she added.
In handing down a sentence last month, Judge Michael Russo told the kidnapper there was no place in the world for his brand of criminal.
Castro pleaded guilty to 937 counts, including murder and kidnapping, in exchange for the death penalty being taken off the table.
The charges stem from his kidnapping, rape and assault of three women: Knight, abducted in 2002; Georgina DeJesus, abducted in 2004; and Amanda Berry; abducted in 2003.
Castro is the father of Berry's 6-year-old girl, DNA tests confirmed.
'You will die a little every day'
All three women kept diaries with Castro's permission, providing many of the details of their abuse.
"I cried every night. I was so alone. I worried what would happen to me and the other girls every day," Knight, 32, said, as she addressed her abductor head-on during his sentencing. "I will live on. You will die a little every day."
In each case, Castro lured the women into his car with the promise of a ride, according to court documents. The women and girl were freed in May after Berry shouted for help while Castro was away.
Neighbors heard her cries and came to her aid as she tried to break through a door. One neighbor gave her a cell phone to call authorities.
"Help me, I am Amanda Berry," she frantically told a 911 operator. "I've been kidnapped, and I've been missing for 10 years. And I'm here, I'm free now."
Plays the victim, blames the victims
During his sentencing, Castro played the victim, saying he was addicted to porn and masturbation. In his oft-disjointed statement, he referred to himself as "very emotional" and "a happy person inside."
Castro appeared to blame the victims and accused them of lying about their treatment. He went on to say that none of the women was a virgin when he abducted them, that they wanted sex and there was "harmony" in the "happy household."
Castro's 1,400-square-foot home was reconfigured to keep their whereabouts a secret, FBI agent Andrew Burke testified. The back door was outfitted with an alarm, bedspreads and curtains obscured parts of them home and a porch swing was placed in front of the stairs leading to the rooms where Castro held the women and girl hostage.
Police also testified Castro would chain the women to objects, including a support pole in his basement.
In the room where Berry and her daughter were held, the doorknob was removed, a lock was affixed to the outside and a hole was cut through the door for ventilation because the windows had been boarded up from the inside, Burke said.
Burke also described a handwritten letter in which Castro claimed he had been sexually abused as a child and wrote, "I am a sexual predator."
'You saved us'
The first police officer on the scene, Barbara Johnson, recalled for the court how she and another officer heard the pitter-patter of footsteps in a dark room where Knight and DeJesus were held.
When the captive women realized they were police, Knight "literally launched herself" onto an officer, "legs, arms, just choking him. She just kept repeating, 'You saved us! You saved us!' " Johnson said.
The women were described as scared, pale, malnourished and dehydrated when they were rescued. Dr. Gerald Maloney, who was in the emergency room when the victims arrived, said Knight requested that no male physicians attend to her.

Ohio man who held 3 women captive commits suicide
Associated Press ANDREW WELSH-HUGGINS 27 minutes ago
COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) — The man who held three women captive in his home for nearly a decade before one escaped has been found dead and is believed to have committed suicide, a prison official said.
Ariel Castro, 53, was found hanging in his cell around 9:20 p.m. Tuesday at the Correctional Reception Center in Orient, a community located south of Columbus in central Ohio, JoEllen Smith, Department of Rehabilitation and Correction spokesman, said early Wednesday.
Prison medical staff performed CPR before Castro was transported to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
He was in protective custody because of the notoriety of his case, meaning he was checked every 30 minutes, but was not on suicide watch, Smith said.
Messages were left for Castro's attorneys at their offices and were not immediately returned.
The three women disappeared separately between 2002 and 2004, when they were 14, 16 and 20 years old. They escaped May 6, when one of the women broke part of a door and yelled to neighbors for help. Castro was arrested that evening.
Castro was sentenced Aug. 1 to life in prison plus 1,000 years on his guilty plea to 937 counts including kidnapping and rape.

Ariel Castro's Confession About Amanda Berry's Mom Will Sicken You
by Kiri Blakeley 11 hours ago
Email17
Ariel Castro killed himself in prison this week, and not too many people are crushed about it -- though there are those that would have preferred he suffer in prison for a lot longer. I guess it's not surprising that this coward couldn't take being imprisoned -- something he had no trouble dishing out to the three women he kidnapped and the child he fathered in captivity. New videotapes have emerged after Ariel Castro's death that show how truly depraved he was -- not that we didn't already know that. But it goes even further. Not only did he imprison, rape, torture, and steal the lives of three women -- but he took it upon himself to taunt the mother of the one of the women -- Amanda Berry's mom, Louwana Miller, who wouldn't live to see her daughter and granddaughter, Jocelyn, free and alive.
According to FBI interrogation video revealed on The Today Show, Castro at one point called Amanda's mother and teased her over the phone with these chilling words:
I think I said something ... that I have her daughter and that she's okay and that she's my wife now -- something like that, you know, probably not the exact words.
How utterly horrific. That Amanda's mom would hear those words, and not know where her daughter was, who she was with, or even if the call was a joke. And before she could even ask anything, Castro hung up.
Louwana died much too early -- at the young age of 43, and family attribute that to the health problems brought on by the stress of her daughter's abduction. In fact, they say she died of a "broken heart."
The tapes also reveal how his daughter with Amanda, Jocelyn, kept asking him not to lock the doors of the house -- but of course, he couldn't unlock them or the women would escape.
Additionally, he chastised himself for "letting down [his] guard" and leaving a bedroom door accidentally unlocked, which allowed Amanda to escape downstairs and open a front door enough to scream for help.
At one point, a "girlfriend" (shiver!) of his heard a TV set on upstairs, where Michelle Knight was held captive, and asked him about it. He thought for a moment he was caught. Amazing he didn't kill that woman.
He also said that surveillance tapes around the school where he kidnapped Gina DeJesus should have clearly shown him near where she disappeared and cops should have caught him earlier -- but they didn't.
It's clear that not only did Castro enjoy torturing his victims, but their families too. It's not true that he didn't kill anyone -- he killed Amanda's mom, Louwana. May she see from wherever she is that her daughter has her freedom now.

Ariel Castro's Son Opens Up About The Horror His Father Left Behind
September 22, 2013
What does a son say when his father becomes one of the most reviled criminals in modern American history?
If you're Ariel Anthony Castro, who shares a first and last name with the man who kidnapped and kept three young women in captivity for about a decade, you say it's time to look forward, not back.
In a guest piece written for the Cleveland Plain Dealer this weekend, the son of Ariel Castro asked, "Now what?"
"If my father's life and death can lead to changes in how we deal with sexual predators, domestic violence, mental illness and, yes, prison safety, then we should have those discussions," wrote Ariel Anthony Castro. "If we can prevent a repeat here or anywhere, then justice truly will have been served amid all the broken pieces my father left behind."
His father, Ariel Castro, 53, committed suicide on Sept. 3, a month after a judge guaranteed he would die in prison by handing down a life sentence plus 1,000 years. Castro had pleaded guilty to rape, kidnapping and abuse, ostensibly to avoid the death penalty; in exchange, his victims were spared having to testify about their suffering in court.
In the end, Ariel Anthony Castro, who said he was unaware of his father's victims before their escape in May, also became a kind of victim of his father's notoriety.
"Cameras showed up at my workplace, reporters blasted my Facebook friends for information about me," Ariel Anthony Castro wrote in the Plain Dealer. "The national networks set up shop, and I watched as person after person who barely knew my father lined up to get their moment on national television. I hid at a friend's house after the news broke because I was shaken to the core, and I didn't want to be forced to grieve with cameras and microphones pointed at me."
Ariel Anthony Castro eventually went on NBC to talk about his father, where he confessed that he probably would never visit his dad.
"I have no trust in him," he said then. "I can't see myself going to visit him and giving him the opportunity to face me and lie to me again."
Over the weekend, the Cleveland Plain Dealer also ran a long feature about the day Ariel Anthony Castro discovered that his father had been arrested. The disappearances of Amanda Berry and Gina DeJesus in particular had gripped Cleveland, and in that story, the younger Castro recalled talking to elated friends and family members about their rescue.
Shortly after, he realized that his father had been responsible for their kidnappings, and his personal hell began.
Now, with his father dead, Castro wrote that he had been unable to bring himself to go see the man who had raised him. After the suicide, he once again found himself facing a media gauntlet.
"I had reporters, in revoltingly poor taste, seeking me out for a knee-jerk reaction, wanting to know the whereabouts of my father's remains, waiting for me outside the Franklin County coroner's office," Castro wrote. "I just wanted to get through those horrible days without NewsChannel 5 breathing down my neck."
But ultimately, he said, "I am not my father, and I can't explain his actions or be held accountable for something I never knew he was doing."
Castro wrote of feeling "horrified and disgusted and angered when I got the news of the unthinkable crimes my father committed," and said his father deserved to be punished. Now, he added, "my father's punishment is between he and his maker."

Officers Falsified Reports Surrounding Ariel Castro’s Death
10/10/2-13
Corrections officers did not complete their rounds and falsified records surrounding Ariel Castro’s death in an Ohio prison cell last month, a report this morning shows.
Report can be found at this link.

The investigation by the Department of Rehabilitation and Correction also raises the possibility that Castro wasn’t trying to kill himself.
The findings about the prison guards – Caleb Ackley, 26, and Ryan Murphy, 27 – were the same as for those on duty during the suicide of Death Row inmate Billy Slagle on Aug. 4.
The corrections officers in both incidents have been suspended, and the State Highway Patrol is investigating.
Today’s after-action report on Castro’s death concludes: “Rounds were not properly completed. Post log books were falsified. There was no satisfactory verification process in place. Shift supervisors were not given clear direction on verification procedures and expectations...Corrections officers were utilizing fire escape doors as shortcuts between segregation pods and floors.”
Castro, 53, pleaded guilty last month to nearly 1,000 counts related to his imprisonment of three women in his Cleveland home for a decade, including aggravated murder – for forcing one of the victims to miscarry – kidnapping, rape and other crimes.
Corrections officers were supposed to check on Castro every half hour, notes the report, which was partially censored. However, log entries verifying of at least five of those checks were falsified, investigators found. But the check less than a half-hour before Castro’s body was found was completed properly, as was the one in which the discovery was made.
He apparently committed suicide Sept. 3 by hanging himself with a sheet attached to a window hinge in his Corrections Reception Center cell, a coroner's investigative notes show.
The probe also raises the question of whether Castro was attempting to commit suicide. There was no suicide note, he had expressed no such inclinations during family visits and he had displayed no suicidal tendencies in several assessments.
“There appears to be no known, substantiated motivation for the self-inflicted death,” the report said.
“His pants and underwear were pulled down to his ankles. The relevance of this finding is unclear. These facts, however, were relayed to the State Highway Patrol for consideration of the possibility of auto-erotic asphyxiation,” the report says.
He was not on any special suicide or mental-health watch. On Aug. 5, as Castro was being transferred from a Lorain prison to the facility in Orient south of Columbus, “he was seen by a mental health professional and watch precautions were discontinued because there were no clinical reasons for same,” the report said. He also was never shown a suicide prevention video “as is required in the orientation processes” by the state prisons agency. Castro’s initial medical/mental health/substance abuse screening apparently has been lost.
“Initially and generally, no major areas of concern were identified in the mental health interactions specific to Inmate Castro,” the report concluded.
Castro also had filled out informal complaint forms but never turned them in. “Castro generally complains about verbal harassment from other inmates and staff; however, he did not provide any names or detailed facts sufficient for the (investigative) team to conduct a further investigation into these allegations. These documents also contain multiple references to Castro’s fear that someone was tampering with his food.” They found the latter allegations baseless.
Castro apparently flushed some of his meals down the toilet, then complained that not eating was causing him health problems. Investigators found those complaints coincided with two visits by medical staff on Aug. 14 in response to complaints by Castro about “chest pains, dizziness, nausea and concerns about his food not properly being prepared.”
Castro showed an interest in being placed in “protective control” after prison officials told him he would not be safe in some prison areas.
The report also faulted the response time of the MedCare ambulance, which took 34 minutes to get to the prison after being called; the state’s contract requires a 15-minute response time, or to call another ambulance company if they couldn’t make the run.
“As a result, Castro was not en route to (Ohio State University’s Wexner Medical Center) until nearly an hour after he was discovered,” the report says. “There is no indication, however, that the delay had an effect on the ultimate outcome.” Investigators recommended the MedCare contract be terminated unless the state gets assurances of improvements.
Castro was found at 9:18 the night of the death. He was pronounced dead at the hospital about an hour and a half later.
“Director Mohr has reviewed and accepted the recommendations made by the after action review team, and acknowledges immediate steps taken by the Correctional Reception Center to address issues of security rounds being conducted according to policy,” said JoEllen Smith, the prison system’s communications chief.
“Fred Cohen and Lindsay Hayes, independent consults hired to review DRC’s suicide prevention policies and procedures, are in Ohio and Director Mohr met with them yesterday. The director will continue meeting with Mr. Cohen and Mr. Hayes on an ongoing basis during the duration of their review.”
Castro was found facing the cell door with his knees bent, according to Franklin County coroner's office notes. The hinge was almost 7 feet from the floor of the cell. Police reports listed Castro at 5 feet 7 inches tall. Prison officials had to get a tool to cut the sheet from his neck, today’s report says.
Two sheets of paper were found in the cell, one with Bible verses written on it and the other with the names of Castro's children and grandchildren, the notes said. A photo display of his family members and Bible open to chapters 2 and 3 of the book John was also found.
Franklin County Coroner Jan Gorniak has said she's awaiting toxicology results before issuing a final report on the death.
Castro was four weeks into a sentence of life without parole plus 1,000 years when he killed himself. His body was released to his son in Columbus.

Coroner Says Ariel Castro Died Of Suicide — Not Autoerotic Asphyxiation
October 11, 2013
An Ohio coroner maintained that Cleveland kidnapper and rapist Ariel Castro did not die from autoerotic asphyxiation, according to a report.
Jan Gorniak, who conducted the autopsy on Castro’s body for the Franklin County coroner, told Cleveland.com that she saw nothing that indicated the convicted creep had died during a perverted act.
“That’s why I called it a hanging suicide,” she said.
I don't even want to considered what she had to do, look at or touch to come to this conclusion!
Her comments came after state officials released a report on Castro’s death that suggested Castro, who was found hanging in his cell Sept. 3 with his pants and underwear around his ankles, died from autoerotic asphyxiation.
An internal review — conducted by the Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Corrections — found that Castro did not leave a suicide note and left no indication as to what prompted his sudden death.
Investigators also found that prison guards falsified logs documenting their observation of Castro in his second-floor cell at the Correctional Reception Center before he was found hanging from a bed sheet tied to a window hinge.
Castro was sentenced to life in prison, plus 1,000 years for kidnapping Amanda Berry, Gina DeJesus and Michelle Knight between 2002 and 2004.
He held them captive and repeatedly raped and tortured the women for about a decade until one of his victims escaped in May.

If his pants were down like that, I wonder if someone killed him? Can't imagine him doing that himself before committing suicide. (I'm still glad he's gone though.)
