I didn't see CA and GA chewing , but I got in on it a little late...I did see a court officer walk over, lean toward where they were sitting, and say something...it was in the background, and C and G were out of camera view, so I don't know for sure who he was speaking to...Wonder if he was telling them to get rid of the ?

About CA mouthing, I love you...I wish I could have seen if KC was actually looking back there at them, or if CA just tried to get that in when KC simply turned around.

Judge Says Casey Trial Could Take 4-6 Weeks
Posted: 4:06 pm EDT April 29, 2010Updated: 11:07 am EDT April 30, 2010
ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. -- Casey Anthony was in the courtroom Friday morning for her first hearing in front of the new judge presiding over the murder case. Casey arrived just before the 9:30am hearing and sat down next to her attorney, Jose Baez.

Casey, wearing a pink, long-sleeved button down collar shirt, seemed in good spirits as she smiled while talking to Baez before Orange County Chief Judge Belvin Perry arrived in the courtroom.
Once Judge Perry arrived, things got going quickly, with the judge carrying a firm tone, pressing both parties on outstanding motions, including for change of venue and dealing with the death penalty.
Perry scheduled a hearing during the week of May 10 to discuss several motions dealing with the death penalty.
Regarding the change of venue request made by the defense, Judge Perry said he would consider it but, if he did change the venue, it would not be disclosed until the last minute. He also said it's possible they could get the jury from a pool outside of Orange County and still hold the trial inside the county.
Judge Perry said, once the trial starts, if the jury were to be sequestered, he would work five and a half days a week (a half-day on Saturdays).
Judge Perry asked the two parties about the scheduled trial start date of May 9, 2011 and if they were okay with it. Both seemed satisfied with that date.
“I would like to do it sooner, but it looks like ya’ll have agreed on something. My only concern is that, as you know, under our system of laws, the adversary system of justice is memory dependent and, unfortunately, memories deteriorate over a period of time,” Judge Perry said. “I will think about it. I’m inclined to stick to the same schedule, but once we do that I will enter an order and you will be stuck with it.”
Judge Perry then pushed for information much more aggressively than in previous hearings, pressing the two parties on how long the trial will take. After brief discussion, Judge Perry suggested that it sounded like the guilt/innocence phase of the trial would last between four and six weeks with one week for sentencing if Casey were found guilty.
"As you know, we will have status hearing every 45 days to make sure you are following this schedule," Judge Perry said, referring to the schedule he'll provide to be sure they're ready for the trial date.
WFTV reported when Chief Perry took over for Judge Stan Strickland after he recused himself from the case. Judge Perry has been on the bench in Central Florida for 21 years. He is the go-to judge for cases causing a problem for the court.
Judge Perry has sent both sides a decorum policy and reminded them the rules will be followed at all times in his courtroom. He has been Chief Judge for 13 years and is known to get straight to the point and does not put up with nonsense.
"He sets a tone of authority in his courtroom. No one ever questions who's in charge once you walk into Judge Perry's courtroom," WFTV legal analyst Bill Sheaffer said.
Judge Perry is taking over leading the proceedings some 20 months into the case against Casey. The pace of the case has been slow-going to this point, mostly because of a flurry of motions filed by the defense.
However, Sheaffer says Judge Perry may speed up the case, which currently is not scheduled to go to trial until May 2011.
Judge Perry has overseen tough cases before. He took over the case involving a homeless man's murder, because another judge allowed the suspect to get out of jail on bond. Also, last year, he sent two men to prison for life when a jury found them guilty for murdering Orlando Police Officer Al Gordon.

If anyone has a link of Baez and Cheney speaking after the hearing please post it.
Also much discussion around asking why the defense might not want sequestration of the jury. IMO, the reason is that sequestered juries are unhappy juries
and might be more predisposed to vote guilty!
Im all for sesquestration!

I will try to find one. Now, Brad Conway is Live on TrueTV.
Conway is saying Lee and George absolutely deny sexual contact w/Casey and that is all he will say. He also says there are normal rifts between Casey and her parents.
He says the are "unable" to see her in jail.

Normal rifts of sexual abuse???? Whatever that is not normal.

What does the term "normal rifts" mean?
I saw Cindy wave to Casey and mouth I love you
but George just looked impassive with a scowl on his face. Sure, he is the one that has to live his life with a good majority of people believing he is a sexual abuser.

There were two questions:
Question 1: (paraphrasing) "How do George and Lee feel about being accused of sexually abusing Casey?"
Question 2: (paraphrasing) "There seems to be a huge rift between Casey and her parents, can you explain that?"

George didn't smile or anything when Cindy was mouthing "I love you" to KC...I think he is basically through with her for the sexual abuse thing...He is just going to hang in there until this is all over and then he will be long gone (like Lee is now)...Unless, of course, he has to stay with CA for financial support!

Well, technically she didnt say she knew for sure George molested her. She only outright accused Lee.
She said "it might" have have happened with her father. The public isnt going to remember the
"it might have happened" part of it. People who dont follow the case like we do will remember only the sensational parts and the accusation of abuse against her brother and father certainly falls into that category.

The defense has filed a 10 page objection to Judge Strickland's recusal! It even has an affidavit from the person who delivered the motion for recusal! Shouldn't the defense be doing something for their CLIENT and not THEMSELVES?!?

I refuse to read that 10 page piece of garbage but here is my beef:
Didn't they request Strickland step down? Now he has and they don't like the fact that the new judge is taking no prisoners (pardon the pun) so NOW, they want Strickland back?????

No, Wrapitup, they don't want Strickland back. They are objecting to his recusal order in which he "berated" the defense and the defense is saying that all Strickland should have done was written "motion granted" without any reparte.

Geez, who cares what Strickland "should have done"? He stepped down. He can step down and say whatever he wants. This Scream Team is just plain ridiculous.
It's like you said, Frogs. They need to go defend their client and stop with the ten page motions. What do they expect to gain from this? Do they want Strickland to apologize? [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]

I think they want to try to embarrass Strickland.
Also I think they had a rude awakening in court today.
Judge Perry is not going to let them get away with any nonsense. Frankly, I hope Strickland learned something from this. In my opinion, his actions with Marinade Dave were totally wrong and his courtroom
was a circus. Not all judges are equal - you have to see a lot of them in action to realize how really weak many of them are. We saw the difference in court today.

Caylee Anthony’s Mom Appears in Front of New Judge Today
Posted on April 30th, 2010
by Jan Barrett
A new judge has taken over the Caylee Anthony murder trial after Judge Stan Strickland stepped down. Caylee’s mother’s (who has been charged with the murder of 2 year old Caylee Anthony) defense team accused Strickland of being friends with a blogger and because the blogger was biased against Casey Anthony, she feared she would be unable to receive a fair trial.
Judge Belvin Perry will now be presiding over the case and he wasted no time by questioning the defense team about what needs to be decided and when. “How many motions do you have pending that are ripe to be heard,” he asked today in court addressing the defense team.
Perry is also planning on determining a budget for the defense team by Thursday. He says, “That needs to be done yesterday.”
He seems concerned over this change of venue thing because of the huge expense bill it will cost to move the trial and that they will likely need to sequester a jury, so he suggests that they hold the trial in Orlando.
“If I decide to sequester a jury we will go somewhere, we will pick a jury and then they will be returned to Orange County,” said Perry.
Perry didn’t change the trial date that has been set to begin on May 9, 2011, but some reports says he predicted it to take 4 to 6 weeks to complete, while some are saying it could take 2 months or more to come to an end with a lengthy penalty phase if Anthony is found guilty.
I got to hand it to Judge Perry when he was talking about the expense it would cost to move the case somewhere else, I find his statements admirable. With a list including up to 250 plus possible witnesses it would be too expensive and inconvenient to house both legal teams, the jurors, and all the witnesses too. He is right in my opinion and I applaud his way of thinking. I did notice on the video clip I saw of today in court when Judge Perry brought up the possible change of venue, Cindy Anthony had a smile (well I call it a smirk) across her face as if she got all excited. She is probably looking for it to be a luxury vacation for them, to be set up in a hotel room and being fed three times a day and and it all being paid by the taxpayers. I hope Perry goes along with his gut feeling on this one and keeps the trial in Orlando.
If the Anthony’s want the trial moved out of Orlando, let them pick up the tab instead of having the taxpayers pay for it. Can you imagine what it would coast to house and feed all those that would have to be set up in a hotel room for anywhere between 4 weeks to possibly 2 months or more? I feel Perry will rule what would be in the best interest in the case and the people that pay their taxes that are being forced to foot the bill for the defense team. Personally I still think they should have made her go with a public defender like most people that don’t have the money to pay for their own defense team
So now we just sit back and wait for Judge Perry to decide on how he is going to go with in the case. I don’t think he will be one to play Baez’s little games. Baez has gotten away with them in the courtroom far too long now.
Someone needs to stop Baez’s games so they can get on with the trial so little Caylee Anthony can hopefully get the justice that she deserves. America has not forgotten you Caylee and we intend to see this trial to the end for you.

Why would the Anthonys get a paid hotel room?
They arent going to jurors. Do they put up the witnessess as well as the jurors for free?

Wittiness have to be accommodated. Are they wittiness at this point still? That is why the Judge will rule to bring in juror's instead. That is a lot cheaper. Juror pay is not much. I bet Orange county can get a good price on rooms for the jury. I hear a lot of Orange County people want to be on the jury. So they were not happy to hear this be suggested.

Three Hearings Scheduled In Anthony Case
The new judge in the Casey Anthony case is not wasting time moving the case along.
Judge Belvin Perry has scheduled three hearings over the next week.
The first one is scheduled for Friday. In that hearing, Perry wants to go over the budget. Since Anthony was declared indigent, and the state is picking up the tab, the judge wants to make sure the expert witnesses won't bust the budget.
The second hearing is scheduled for next Monday. Judge Perry wants to hear about any pending motions that he will be asked to consider.
The third hearing is set for the next day, May 11, to hear motions regarding the death penalty.

I love it. He is leaving no stone unturned. This is what the defense wanted - another judge - and that is exactly what they got. Perry won't deal w/Bozo and company filing ridiculous motions at the last possible minute. He wants all motions filed NOW!!

Read Judge Perry’s order for the hearings on this link
[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
Judge Perry isn’t wasting any time getting things moving in the Casey Anthony case. Casey is charged with first degree murder in the death of her two-year-old daughter, Caylee and is facing the death penalty. After months of motions being filed and appearing that the trial would never move forward, Judge Perry is making headway. He has ordered three hearings for this Thursday and for next week.
The first hearing is scheduled for May 6, 2010, the second for May 10, 2010 and the third is set for May 11, 2010. All hearings will be held at 9:00 a.m. at the Roger A. Barker Courtroom which is located on the 23rd floor of the Orange County Courthouse in Orlando, Florida. Last Friday a hearing was held for Casey regarding case management. That hearing was broadcast live on TV. It is unclear whether these additional hearings will be broadcast on TruTV but there is a strong possibility they will.
Judge Perry has a high reputation throughout Florida for being a judge that gets things accomplished. He is determined that Casey Anthony’s trial will begin on May 9, 2011 at the least expense to Florida tax payers as possible.

Casey Anthony judge sets tough new schedule for attorneys
In another signal that he intends to push forward the murder case against Casey Anthony, Chief Circuit Judge Belvin Perry Jr. set an aggressive new deadline for attorneys.
Perry gave them two-and-a-half weeks to file a detailed deposition schedule — no small undertaking.
It means that by May 17, attorneys must contact more than 50 witnesses and schedule them for sessions during which they'll be questioned — sometimes sharply — under oath about the case.
Anthony, 24, is charged with killing her 2-year-old daughter, Caylee Marie, in 2008. The state is seeking the death penalty.
Perry took charge of the case two weeks ago after Circuit Judge Stan Strickland recused himself.
At a hearing Friday, Assistant State Attorney Linda Drane Burdick told Perry that the state has listed 250 witnesses. She predicted defense attorneys would want to depose about 90.
Defense attorney Jose Baez said his team had finished 36 interviews, leaving more than 50 yet to do.
At the hearing, and in the order he signed Friday, the judge said he would help attorneys with uncooperative witnesses by issuing orders, requiring them to come to court or be held in contempt. He also said he'd use deputies to haul them into court, if need be.
Perry has scheduled more hearings in the case for this week and next. On Thursday comes one about defense public spending in the case. It could be the first time defense attorneys disclose how much money they expect to spend.
They will talk about what experts they've hired, how much they charge per hour and how many hours they're expected to work. There will also be talk about other expenses, such as travel.
In March, Strickland, the judge handling the case at the time, concluded Anthony is indigent, and should have her defense costs, minus attorney fees, covered by the public.
Next week, Perry will listen to a variety of motions. Monday's list includes a defense request that the case be tried by jurors from another county; an attack on physical evidence gathered by the state; whether jurors should be allowed to view party photos of Anthony and whether they should hear allegations of domestic violence against the former county employee who discovered Caylee's body.
The next day is to be dedicated to defense motions attacking Florida's death penalty.
Today, another judge — Circuit Judge Jose Rodriguez — will conduct a routine pretrial conference in the civil case against Anthony. It is being brought by a woman who says Anthony told lies that damaged her reputation.
Zenaida Fernandez-Gonzalez is seeking unspecified damages, saying she was harmed when Anthony told authorities that Caylee disappeared after Anthony left the child with a baby sitter named Zenaida. After investigating that claim and many others, prosecutors charged Anthony with murder, and the child's body was found several months later in a patch of woods not far from Anthony's home.

When was George ever employable? Perhaps when he was dismissed from the police department..oh yeah..he quit. Or perhaps when he threw the chair through the plate glass window on his dads auto dealership. Or maybe when he was home trying to make his fortune on that overseas deal..I know. He works for the Caylee Anthony fund and he drives the boat. I always check that he still has that tan..yep he does. He i still driving the boat! Patrolling the waterways, looking out for missing children on the waterways. We are in good hands now.
LOL the devil made me do it. George Anthony employable...nadda. He loves being a "kept man". Broadway George!

I loved Judge Perry. No more giggling from Casey. No more showboating from Baez. The prosecution showed a bit of life.
I think it is going to be all good now!

Judge Finalizes Casey Anthony Case Schedule
Judge Declines Defense's Request To Keep Budget Hearing Private
POSTED: 5:03 pm EDT May 3, 2010
UPDATED: 6:19 pm EDT May 3, 2010
ORLANDO, Fla. --
Judge Belvin Perry finalized a schedule Monday shoehorning three critical hearings in the next eight days.
On Thursday morning, a hearing will be held to talk about how much taxpayer money Anthony should be budgeted to aid in her defense, now that she has been declared indigent.
On Friday, defense attorney Jose Baez asked Perry if the budget concerns will be discussed in private. Perry decided the budget hearing will be held in open court Thursday.
Perry said he he wanted to know how many hours the defense team's experts will require and if they are willing to abide by the fee schedule set by Florida's Justice Administrative Commission.
Next week, a series of important defense motions will be heard, including a hearing on the trial's location and another to discuss whether evidence can be introduced suggesting the man who discovered Caylee's remain, Roy Kronk, should have been investigated as a possible suspect.
Perry said he also plans to consider a series of defense motions challenging the death penalty.
WESH 2's Bob Kealing said, by next week, followers of the case should expect to know how much money it will cost taxpayers to defend Casey Anthony, where her trial will be held and whether the state can keep pursuing the ultimate punishment against her. :woot:

Re: JUDGE PERRY has RULES!/The defense has filed a 10 page objection to Judge Strickland's recusal!/ Three Hearings Scheduled In Anthony Case over the next week
So Baez doesn't want the "budget" discussed in public? Well isn't that interesting. You know the more I hear of the Sunshine Law the more I love it. Why shouldn't the taxpayers hear how much it will cost to defend a child killer. I know innocent til proven guilty but all this is getting riductlous. 250 witnesses. Six weeks of trial.
Me thinks Lady Justice has swung the pendelum in the wrong direction.
I believe in a fair trial but not in a 2 million dollar fair trial unless every poor bloke gets one too!
It sounds like I will just set my tivo to InSession which I think is now called TruTv to tape all week. That way I can look through the days happenings and won't miss anything.

I think Morgan & Morgan were supposed to be in court today? That is the one I am talking about. LOL
I find it hard to believe that the Ant's like the new judge. If they do, then I think they want their daughter to fry as this judge will take no b.s. from the defense. Wasn't it you that said Baez w/resign and Cheney w/take over and Casey w/get life w/out parole? If so, I completely agree with you!

I dont remember the part of life w/o parole for Casey but I believed that Baez might resign and let Mason take over but after seeing the last court appearance Im not so sure. I found Mason to be extremely subdued at that hearing. Yes! you are correct wasnt there suposed to be some kind of hearing on the Zenaida case? Can anyone post if they find anything
I havent checked today.

Casey Anthony civil case: Lawyers to seek 'significant amount of money'
The Casey Anthony civil case went back to court Tuesday afternoon. She's being sued for defamation after lawyers say she falsely accused a woman of kidnapping her daughter.
Zenaida Gonzalez attorney Keith Mitnik wouldn't say exactly how much money he's seeking from Casey Anthony but said it will be a "significant amount."
Casey has no money now, she has been declared indigent by the court. But Mitnik said that could change.
"I don't know if there is a book deal or something," he said.
Monday, lawyers asked for more time to question Casey's jailhouse pen pal - trial wont start until early next year.

Re: JUDGE PERRY has RULES!/The defense has filed a 10 page objection to Judge Strickland's recusal!/ Three Hearings Scheduled In Anthony Case over the next week
The defamation lawsuit against Casey Anthony will likely go to trial in the early part of next year, a civil judge announced during a brief hearing.
Anthony is being sued in circuit court in Orange County by Zenaida Gonzalez, a Kissimmee woman who accuses Anthony of damaging her reputation.
Anthony told investigators a baby sitter named Zenaida Fernandez-Gonzalez abducted her daughter, 2-year-old Caylee Marie, in 2008.
Anthony is accused of killing her daughter that year. The baby sitter wasn't found and authorities believe she never existed.
The civil trial was initially set for June. However, Anthony's civil attorney, Jonathan Kasen, who was not at today's hearing, and Gonzalez lawyers wanted more time to prepare and requested the trial be postponed.
Orange Circuit Court Judge Jose R. Rodriguez agreed — but warned them the earliest date he could offer is sometime next year.
While Gonzalez's attorneys were hoping for a trial in August, they understand the delay.
"I'm not surprised," said Keith Mitnik, one of Gonzalez's attorneys. "The courts are very busy. It's not an old case."
She filed suit two years ago, saying she was harmed by Anthony's statement about the baby sitter. She is seeking unspecified damages.
The new trial date gives her legal team time to investigate information that Anthony spoke and exchanged letters with another jail inmate, who claims Anthony told her that there was no babysitter named Zenaida.
"They could be bombshells for our case," Mitnik said after the hearing.
At this point, the civil case will likely take place before Anthony's criminal trial, which is scheduled for May 2011.
Anthony, 24, is charged with first-degree murder. The toddler was reported missing in July 2008 and her remains were found in December 2008 a patch of woods not far from Anthony's home.
Anthony is now in the Orange County Jail. The state is seeking the death penalty.
In September, Anthony's attorney, Jonathan Kasen, asked the judge to delay or throw out the civil suit. Anthony shouldn't be placed under oath and required to say whether or not she murdered her child, he argued.
But Gonzalez's attorney later agreed not to ask that question, and Rodriguez ruled that the case should move forward.

I thought she was seeking only $15,000.00! The article above says "unspecified damages"
Wow, I wonder how much they will ask for and are the Anthonys at all responsible for this? Also what ever happened to the foreclosure on their house?

Well that was interesting. Cindy looks like she has aged about 10 years since her yelling days out on the driveway. George is still Broadway George. Cindy has put on weight and her hair is no longer muffin top.
I could sense Cindy did not like at all she was in the background and Conway was being interviewed. Cindy moved right up front and of course had to utter a few "words".
