Casey Anthony's Defense No Longer Looking At Kronk As Suspect/Defense Denied That/Judge Rules That Defense Can't Smear Kronk at Trial

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. -- The man who found Caylee Anthony's body in the woods is back to being a hero in the case. It looks like the defense abandoned its claims that Roy Kronk should be a suspect instead.
More than a year ago, Casey Anthony's defense team attacked one of the key prosecution witnesses, Roy Kronk, the Orange County meter reader who found Caylee's remains in December 2008, but also reported finding them four months earlier in the same wooded area near the Anthonys' home.
Kronk's earlier report was not fully investigated by a patrol deputy, who was later fired. In an attempt to cast doubt on Kronk's damaging testimony, the defense said he should be a suspect and got people in Kronk's past to make disturbing accusations against him.
The defense had until December 23 to ask Chief Judge Belvin Perry to bring those accusations against Kronk into the trial so a jury could hear them. It didn't happen.
"The defense was floating balloons to see how this shift of focus from Casey to Kronk would play out. It did not play out well at all. It backfired," WFTV legal analyst Bill Sheaffer said.
Kronk has told WFTV he was horrified over the defense team's accusations and has denied being involved in her murder.
Thursday, Kronk's attorney said this validates what they've said all along, "that the Anthony defense's attacks on Roy were not only false, unfair and designed to deflect attention from Casey Anthony, but also a losing strategy."

It's good to know that Roy Kronk isn't going to be part of the Aha Moment. Kronk killed Caylee.....how ridiculous! He should sue the defense team.

No kidding. I am glad they are letting that go. Thank goodness Roy never gave up on finding Caylee. I hope he has some good Karma come his way for the risks he took to help find Caylee.

Merry Christmas to Roy Kronk, and thank you for not giving up on a missing little girl.

Caylee Anthony Update: Roy Kronk - No Longer a Suspect
Posted on December 23rd, 2010
Well it looks like Roy Kronk, the meter reader that discovered Caylee Anthony’s remains on December 11, 2008, is no longer going to be accused of possibly being the one that killed little Caylee. Kronk has always denied having anything to do with the murder, he was an innocent man that happened to have discovered what remains were left of the child.
Caylee’s mother has been sitting in jail since October, 2008, while being charged with the murder of her daughter and is facing the death penalty. She is expected to finally go to trial in May 2011. Her defense team has been throwing around the thoughts that Roy Kronk could have been the one that killed Caylee and put her body in the wooded area.
Kathi Belich from WFTV in Orlando, reported that the defense team had a deadline of today to ask Judge Perry to bring the accusations they had against Kronk into the trial to be discussed in front of the jury but they didn’t do it.
According to WFTV’s legal analyst Bob Sheaffer he says the defense team was only floating balloons to see if they could shift the focus away from Casey and wanted to pass it onto Kronk but it ended up backfiring on them instead.
Kronk really caught hell for doing the one thing that no one else had been able to do. That was to find that precious little girl’s remains. Why should he have been forced to have to defend himself when he did nothing wrong. If everyone was treated like he was for doing the right thing, then eventually no one would come forth if they know something that could solve such a crime and who could blame them? Kronk’s attorney, David Evans says the charges against Kronk were not only false, unfair designed to deflect attention from Caylee’s mother (sorry I still can’t type her name in good conscience) but it was also a losing strategy.
Hopefully in May this case will come to an end and Caylee Marie Anthony will finally get justice. If only all the other missing children would be found. I pray that Haleigh Cummings and Adji Desir, Zack Pittman (even though he is not a child) and all the others that are missing will be found soon. May God be with all of them.
Jan Barrett
Update: WKMG Channel 6 is reporting that Jose Baez is denying that the defense team is backing off from suspecting Roy Kronk. He says that their backing off is 100% false. I guess we will just have to wait and see who is right in this matter.

I remember Bozo saying something about maybe withdrawing the current motion and refiling later, but JP didn't seem to like that idea...Said to "bear in mind" that there were deadlines that must be met.

They discussed all of this on the NG show Christmas Eve. I don't know if any of you watched that special she did on Casey.
Actually they discussed that neither the prosecution or the defense really wanted to go there with Kronk. Something about his girlfriend that works at the jail maybe hearing a conversation between Baez and Casey. Anyway the attorneys thought all would shy away from that one.
That one gal that is on her show. Her name is Jane and she is a defense attorney. She said she doesn't think they have enough evidence to convict Casey. She said the defense does not have to prove anything but the prosecution has to prove beyond a reasonable doubt that Casey killed Caylee. She said no evidence on Caylees body no cause of death..nothing concrete.
She went on to say she doesn't see the conviction. Have you heard that before or is that just "defense talk". I kind of like her comments and was suprised to hear her say that.
Surely that child killer won't go free...will she?

This interview was about 8 or 9 months ago.
Take a look at the video called Caseys Defense. A few things I had forgotten or never knew. There is a short commercial then the video.
It's almost show time folks.

Also remaining, the question of whether Anthony's defense will try to have evidence admitted at the trial of Roy Kronk's alleged "prior bad acts." Kronk found the remains off of Suburban Drive in 2008.
"The Kronk stuff has been the elephant in the room," Hornsby said. "If you're going for an innocence argument you have to have someone to point the finger at."
Hornsby said the defense can still try to introduce the Kronk evidence at trial, but there's no guarantee that Judge Belvin Perry will allow it.

Judge: Kronk's 'Prior Bad Acts' Can't Be Used
POSTED: 1:52 pm EST January 21, 2011
UPDATED: 4:15 pm EST January 21, 2011
ORLANDO, Fla. -- Judge Belvin Perry issued several new orders on Friday in the case against Casey Anthony.
Notably, Perry said that the defense cannot introduce evidence at trial of Roy Kronk's prior bad acts. The former meter reader found Caylee Anthony's remains in December 2008.
Perry said the defense claimed that Kronk had a "possible history of inappropriate behavior with young girls," a history of "abusing, restraining, and holding women against their will," using duct tape to restrain women and even said there is a chance that he knew the locations of the remains before alerting law enforcement.
Perry said that Kronk could be questions about his calls to law enforcement to report a suspicious bag, but the defense cannot use his alleged history as evidence that he could be a suspect in the case.

Good show on JVM tonight about the Anthony case. If you recorded it, you might want to watch it.
