CVS Store Manager Michael Brown Faces Child Porn Charges

FOUNTAIN HILLS, Ariz. -- Sheriff’s detectives arrested a Fountain Hills drug store supervisor on charges of child pornography after finding images on a photo kiosk.

Michael Brown, 49, was arrested at his home on nine counts of sexual exploitation of a minor, a Class 2 felony.

Detectives had received information from a CVS manager working at the same store as Brown. During a search, they found a number of pornographic images on a photo kiosk at the store. All of the images discovered were of children under the age of 14, according to the Maricopa County Sheriff's Office.

“This is such a sad situation,” said Sheriff Joe Arpaio. “Living in Fountain Hills, I frequently shop at this very store, and I will never tolerate this type of behavior.”

More charges are expected to follow, detectives said.

A Fountain Hills CVS pharmacy supervisor was arrested Tuesday in connection with sexual exploitation of a minor after printing and paying for photographs of child pornography at the store he worked, according to a Maricopa County Superior Court record.

According to the document, the man, Michael Brown, 49, of Phoenix, downloaded, printed and paid for at least 13 pornographic photographs on June 21. The photographs all contained victims apparently under the age of 14, Maricopa County sheriff's officials said.


A manager at the CVS pharmacy, 16545 E. Palisades Blvd., found the photographs in the queue of a photo kiosk at the pharmacy the same day they were loaded, at about 8 p.m., as he was attempting to fix the printer, the court document said.

The court document said the manager printed Brown's order, noticed the youthfulness of the victims in the photographs, and reported the incident to the Sheriff's Office.

After completing an investigation into the photographs, including consulting a pediatrician for an age estimation of the victims, Maricopa County Sheriff's Office issued a search warrant Tuesday morning to Brown's home in the 1700 block of East Union Hills Drive, and on his car, according to the court document.

During the search, the court document said, more than 100 4-by-6-inch photographs of children in sexually exploitive poses were found and seized. USB flash drives were seized as well.

In an interview, the court document said, Brown admitted to searching for teenage pornography on the Internet, downloading naked pictures of girls as young as 10, regularly printing the photographs at CVS Pharmacy and having several more boxes of pornography at his home. Those also were later seized by MCSO officers, the document said.

In addition, Brown said he had 10 USB flash drives with more than 1,000 child pornography, child erotica and adult pornography photographs, according to the court document.

Brown continued to tell officials that as long as child-type pornography was available on the Internet for search, he would not be able to control himself, the court document said.

Brown was arrested for investigation of three counts of developing child pornography and six counts of transporting and possessing child pornography, according to the court document. Additional counts of sexual exploitation may be sought after further investigation into photographs seized from Brown's home, the document said.
