Austin Units Arrest 2,000 Child Predators

Texas Attorney General Greg Abbott announced on Thursday that his office’s Cyber Crimes and Fugitive Units have made their 2,000th arrest. Kirk Mulller was arrested on July 13 for violating his parole by having unauthorized contact with a child.

The Cyber Crimes and Fugitive Units track down fugitives who have committed crimes against children and those that use the internet to victimize children.

Abbott said the work of the two units sends a strong message to sexual predators.

“They are being watched, they are being tracked,” Abbott said. “We are following what they're doing. We will track them down, arrest them and put them behind bars. If you're a predator and you're thinking about using the internet to set up a rendezvous to have sex with a child, we are going to find you and arrest you.”

The Cyber Crimes and Fugitive Units were both started in 2003.
