James Toreky pleads guilty
Cuyahoga County Prosecutor Bill Mason said that Fred Siver, 42, of Solon, and James Toreky, 54, of North Olmsted, in separate cases pleaded guilty this week to felony charges for making child pornography available on the internet.
Toreky was one of 50 individuals charged in December 2009 as a result of Operation Cyber Safe, which was Ohio's largest investigation of child pornography.
Operation Cyber Safe was a five-month investigation conducted by the Ohio Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force that targeted the top traders of child pornography in Cuyahoga County.
Using peer to peer technology, detectives identified IP addresses being used to trade child pornography.
Toreky made child pornography available for sharing from his computer at his residence in North Olmsted. A search warrant was executed at his residence in August 2009.
On Feb. 8, 2010, Toreky pleaded guilty to five counts of pandering sexually oriented matter involving a minor and one count of possession of criminal tools. (He was charged with 10 counts of pandering).
Sentencing is scheduled for 9:30 a.m. March 8, 2010, in Cuyahoga County Common Pleas Judge Brian Corrigan's courtroom.
UPDATE: Cuyahoga County Sheriff Hi Bonnie, His sentencing is set for 3/25/2010.
In 2000, Mason brought together local, state, and federal agencies throughout Northeast Ohio to create a task force to combat Internet predators.
In 2003, Bill Mason was asked by the Department of Justice to expand the Task Force statewide and to serve as the Chairman of the Ohio Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force.
Mason currently serves as state-wide chair.

Re: Cyber Criminals
Happy that the distributors are going to be held accountable but, Where are the guilty pleas from the people who actually performed and produced these images?
Will these guys receive a lesser sentence for pleading guilty?

A Cleveland Heights man pleaded guilty Friday to more than 50 charges of allowing child pornography to be available from his computer.
Christian Blue, 21, pleaded guilty before Cuyahoga County Common pleas Court Judge Lance Mason of 50 counts of pandering sexually oriented matter involving a minor and two counts of illegal use of minor in nudity-oriented material or performance .
Ryan Miday, spokesman for the Cuyahoga County prosecutor's office, said Blue made child pornography available for sharing online using a popular file-sharing site on May 15.

Investigators found 64 child pornographic videos saved to Blue's computer hard drive.

Re: Cyber Criminals
nitespinr I am thinking :LE: is offering deals to the distributors for lighter sentences and that these distributors have information to convict the perverts actually performing the acts.

Adam Csanad, 31, and Illiana Kaufman, 26,
Adam Csanad, 31, and Illiana Kaufman, 26, both of Cleveland, were indicted on charges of pandering sexually oriented matter involving a minor, illegal use of minor in nude material or performance, trafficking offenses, illegal manufacturing/cultivation of marijuana, endangering children, and possessing criminal tools.
Allegedly from August 21, 2009 thru September 3, 2009, Adam Csanad and Illiana Kaufman were trading child pornography videos and/or photographs. On September 3, 2009, a search warrant was executed and law enforcement officers seized computers, hard drives, etc., as well as other media storage devices.
Members of the Ohio ICAC Task Force analyzed those items forensically and discovered additional child pornography that had been downloaded and saved. Illiana Kaufman's 3-year old son was present during the execution of the search warrant.
While at the home, members of the Cuyahoga County Sheriff's Office noticed the strong smell of marijuana emanating from the third floor attic, accessible only through the 3-year old child's bedroom. In the attic, officers discovered an active marijuana grow laboratory with 50 live marijuana plants, fans, grow lamps, electrical transformers and wiring, an air conditioning unit, exhaust fan, a tarp concealing harvested marijuana, and more bags and boxes containing marijuana.
A pre-trial for Adam Csanad and Illiana Kaufman is scheduled for 9:00 am in front of Judge Lance. WHAT DATE?

Still waiting for news of the porn charges against him. Here's some background.
4.Bennett, Arthur, 30, Brooklyn
Indicted on 64 Charges
51 x Pandering (Creation)
10 x Pandering (Sharing)
1 x Possessing Criminal Tools
2 x Illegal Use of a Minor
Arthur Bennett, 30, of Cleveland, was arraigned Dec. 21 and held on a $100,000 bond. Bennett served more than four years of a six-year prison sentence for felonious assault with a gun in 2001. Judge Daniel Gaul released him June 1, 2006, and sentenced him to five years of probation. They should have locked him up and thrown away the key. How long is it going to take for the judges to realize that these offenders are "bad seeds" and shouldn't be allowed back into society.

David Chapman pleads GUILTY
Young families living in a quiet neighborhood on Merkle Avenue in Parma are disturbed to learn that one of their neighbors, 37-year-old David Chapman, pleaded guilty Friday to 98 counts of downloading child pornography from the internet. He will be sentenced by Judge John Sutula on April 26..
Laura Alareeqi, a young mother, says, "It's very scary, it's just that you don't think that anything like that happens around you. You see it on t.v., but I would never think that was going on around here."
According to court documents, an examination of Chapman's computer revealed 92 videos of children engaged in sexual activity, some as young as seven-years-old.
Assistant Cuyahoga County Prosecutor Frankie Goldberg says offenders like Chapman, "Would type in search terms like 'pthc' which means pre-teen hard core. They are proactively searching for child pornography on the world wide web and it's free and accessible and available."
Laura Alareeqi adds, "I don't think there's any words for it, it's just unbelievable, and just horrible, horrible."
The guilty pleas by David Chapman and Kevin Jakupca are the result of aggressive policing of computer traffic by the Ohio Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force. Prosecutors say the aim is to stop would-be predators and protect children who are being exploited.http://www.fox8.com/news/wjw-child-porn-offenders-cleveland-js-txt,0,2923186.story

Kevin Jakupca pleads GUILTY
Also on Friday, 21-year-old Kevin Jakupca of Westlake pleaded guilty to 25 counts of downloading child pornography. He will be sentenced by Judge Brendan Sheehan on April 16.
Investigators say they found 16 videos containing children engaging in sex on Jakupca's computer.
Prosecutors say federal authorities have identified eleven of the children shown in the illegal images.
Goldberg says, "This is not a victimless crime, any time these images are shown on the web and viewed and displayed, these young people are victimized over and over again. I don't like to use the word 'child pornography.' This is rape, sexual abuse of young people."
He continued, "They are still victims and their lives are changed forever because they've lost their innocence. They are never the same, they are the victims of sexual abuse."

David Chapman pleads GUILTY
Jakupca and a Parma man, David Chapman, 37, both pleaded to the same charges Friday. Both men were among 50 people indicted by the Cuyahoga County Grand Jury in December after a several month investigation by the Ohio Internet Crime Against Children Task Force.
Frankie Goldberg, director of the Ohio ICAC Task Force and an assistant Cuyahoga County prosecutor, was pleased with the Friday pleas.
“This is not a victimless crime,” she said. “Anytime the images involving the victims in this case are displayed on the Internet, they become a victim again. Anytime sometime tries to access the videos or images involved they’re being victimized – even if it’s years later.”

More on David Chapman
Parma man pleads guilty to trading child pornography
By Bob Sandrick, Sun News
April 08, 2010, 3:06PM
PARMA A Merkle Avenue man traded child pornography on the Internet between February and July of last year.
David Chapman, 37, has pleaded guilty to 98 counts of pandering sexually oriented matter involving a minor and one count of possessing criminal tools.
Chapman’s sentencing is scheduled for April 26 in Cuyahoga County Common Pleas Court.
Chapman will be classified as a Tier II sex offender. Upon his release from prison, he won’t be allowed to live within 1,000 feet of a school for 25 years.
Also, Chapman will have to verify his residence and place of employment every 180 days.
On Sept. 4, police seized computers, CDs, DVDs, hidden cameras, condoms, a firearm and video game systems in Chapman’s home at 5404 Merkle.
On Chapman’s computers, police found 92 videos of children having sex. The videos also showed children as young as 7 being anally raped.
Prosecutors said there’s no evidence that Chapman created child porn videos. They said the investigation is ongoing.
However, Chapman, did invite boys between 13- and 16-years-old into his home, prosecutors said. The boys lived in Strongsville.
Chapman had lived in Strongsville before moving to Parma. He first invited the boys into his home when he lived in Strongsville, prosecutors said.
Prosecutors said Chapman had video games in his home to entertain the boys.
Chapman and two other Parma men were among 36 Greater Cleveland residents indicted Dec. 16 for allegedly trading child porn on the Internet.
In February, one of the three Parma men, Brian Fox, 37, pleaded guilty to 17 counts of illegal use of a minor in nudity oriented material or performance.
Fox also pleaded guilty to eight counts of pandering sexually oriented matter involving a minor and one count of possessing criminal tools.
The 36 indictments followed an investigation by an Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force, chaired by Cuyahoga County Prosecutor Bill Mason.
The investigation was called Operation Cyber Safe.
Between May-October, more than 70 officers from 32 law enforcement agencies in the county executed search warrants at homes in 22 communities within the county.
Mason’s office said 14 juveniles were also involved in the trading of child pornography. They were to face charges in the Cuyahoga County Juvenile Court.

Allegedly from August 21, 2009, thru September 3, 2009, Adam Csanad, 31, and Illiana Kaufman, 26, of both of Cleveland, were found to be trading child pornography videos and/or photographs.
On March 15, 2010, Csanad pleaded guilty to pandering sexually oriented matter involving a minor, trafficking offenses, illegal manufacture/cultivation of marijuana, and possessing criminal tools. He faces a maximum of 48-1/2 years in prison. We will be labeled a Tier II Sexual Offender. On March 15, 2010, Kaufman pleaded guilty to illegal manufacture/cultivation of marijuana and endangering children. She faces a maximum of 6-1/2 years in prison.

Adam Csanad and Illiana Kaufman sentenced
Adam Csanad, 31, of Poe Avenue, was sentenced to two years after pleading guilty to five counts of pandering sexually oriented material involving a minor, drug traffickiing, illegally cultivating marijuana and possessing criminal tools.
His girlfriend, Illiana Kaufman, 26, faced the same charges, but pleaded guilty to illegal cultivation and child endangering. She was sentenced by Judge Lance Mason to 20 days in jail and three years of probation.
Csanad traded child pornography on the Internet from Aug. 21 through Sept. 3, 2009, Assistant Prosecutor Jesse Canonico said.
The day of the couple's arrest, officers found 50 marijuana plants growing in the attic and boxes of harvested marijuana accessible through Kaufman's 3-year-old son's bedroom.
Csanad will have to register his home and work addresses every 180 days for 25 years.

Re: Cyber Criminals
Doesn't anyone else find it disturbing that Illiana Kaufman only gets 20 days, and shall never be labeled a sex offender? Seems to me as if she got a deal..why?!?!? Just because she a deal, she isn't labeled for what she is? How are we supposed to protect our children? How does Adam only get 2 yrs in prison, when he was originally facing 48 yrs? These people are total pervs, and their thoughts and tendencies can't be changed, or stopped with this types of light sentencing....what kind of message are we trying to send? You can endanger and/or hurt children and only get 20 days- 2 years? I'm outraged!

Re: Cyber Criminals
Since both Adam and Illiana originally pleaded not guilty and then changed their plea to guilty they might have done that with the promise of lighter sentences....IDK. You're right, prison won't cure that they get pleasure by watching videos that sexually exploit children. Both should have been locked away for much longer and Illiana should lose custody of her child. We are all outraged, but what can be done about it? It's hard to fight City Hall. All we can hope is that they re-offend when they get out of jail and get locked up for longer next time....and there will be a next time. Leopards don't change their spots.

Welcome to VH, "Domestic Goddess" (Love the name).
What you said is spot on. It is beyond atrocious that these two got hardly any sentence at all. And, the mere thought of that woman being able to keep her children is mind boggling. It makes me wonder what this judge was thinking. What if she puts her children at risk by photographing them? These are sick people! They need to be locked up for life!

Re: Cyber Criminals
She gets to serve weekends only and by the time she begins her sentence there will be another innocent child thrown into the mix. Why she is allowed custody of her children is beyond me. If she continues her relationship with Adam Csanad, when he gets out of prison, will they be back on the computer watching child porn again? I'm assuming that he is the father of the child that Illiana is expecting. Why would any woman choose to share a bed with a man who gets off watching a child being sexually abused? She's pathetic!ILLIANA KAUFMAN, IS SENTENCED TO THE CUYAHOGA COUNTY JAIL FOR A TERM OF 20 DAY(S). DEFENDANT IS SENTENCED TO 6 MONTHS IN COUNTY JAIL.
