Today, we had the memorial service, I anxiously got ready...I wasn't prepared. None of us were. The service was beautiful, easily a few thousand people.They played the song Pray by Justin Bieber, If I die young and a few others. Court was at 11:30 am, an hour after the service started. I missed the court hearing, however, it was on our local radio station by 12:30. Stathis Kirkpatrick is charged with four counts. Premeditated Murder (1st degree, facing life, possibly death) Intentionally use of knife (2nd degree, 50 years.) Destruction(burning) of evidence (4th degree, 5 years. $10,000 fine) Abandoning the body (4th degree, 5 years. $10,000 fine). Stathis was taking in by 9 of our local police officers, chains and bullet proof vest (Lord knows he needed it!). When they read him the final words, he was emoitionless. It was a great turn out, but its not over yet. Please keep sending prayers and love to the small town of McCook Nebraska. Our next hearing (peliminary) is Feb. 11th. I will keep you all updated. :thanks:

Bartley man charged with murder
Thursday, January 27, 2011

McCook Daily Gazette
McCOOK, Nebraska -- The 18-year-old Bartley, Nebraska, man jailed since Friday in connection with the death of 14-year-old Kailee Nicole Clapp of McCook was charged with first degree murder in Red Willow County Court this morning.
Stathis Sebastian Mobley Kirkpatrick of Bartley is also charged with use of a deadly weapon to commit a felony, a Class II felony; and tampering with physical evidence and unlawful burial, both Class IV felonies.

The complaint and information filed this morning against Kirkpatrick charges that he killed Clapp on or about Jan. 21, "purposely and with deliberate and premedicated malice," or in the perpetration of or attempt to perpetrate a kidnapping of Clapp.

Red Willow County Attorney Paul Wood also charges that Kirkpatrick used a knife or other deadly weapon to commit a felony, intentionally destroyed, removed or altered physical evidence and intentionally threw away or abandoned human skeletal remains.

Kirkpatrick was arrainged in Red Willow County Court this morning.

More information from that court appearance will be released as it becomes available.

The memorial sounds beautiful and I'm just so sorry that you had to go thru' this at your age, it's so wrong and what that monster did to her is horrific.
I wonder if the court hearing was planned at the same time as the memorial on purpose, LE obviously was concerned that someone would try and take him out.
Do you know if any of Kirkpatrick's family was at the hearing? Just wondering, if that was my son and he did something like that, it would be very hard for me to be there for him.
You, the family of Kailee and McCook has all of our love and prayers.

Yes, the family was at the hearing, his girl friend was also there. However, she did not go into the court room. she sat in a car outside. I sped through mccook to make it to the courthouse right after the service (my bad (=!) I just had to see for myself. there was news reporters everything. Its just the beginning but God will make sure Kailee gets justice

Was there a lot of media there? I'm just curious on what Kirpatrick's family had to say or didn't say. The gf, she was the one who supposedly wrote on Kailee's FB page the night Kailee went missing?

It was packed with media, as far as I know they didn't say anything & yes the gf is the one that did that. My heart DID go out to the family, until i go on facebook and saw them saying how he didn't do it ect. He pleaded not guilty and they are going to try to plead insanity! We had a local man stand up in the middle of court and say "Instead of us paying for another piece of trash to rot, or giving him the death penalty. Why don't you let him out on Norris (which is a big street in McCook, and is a big part of our history) and let the town take care of him!"

They found her body pretty quickly. Sorry to be so morose. You're something else..hot tailing it from the funeral to the court house. Good for you.

I was going to ask you. Did she live with her parents or just her mom? We (as far as I know) have not heard a word from her parents. Do you know them?

Not sure what channell. But its News 5 at 10... I do know her parents. Here is a video about court.Please do not take all of this that is said in this video to heart..Please please remember this is from HIS statement. Stathis is a very odd name. I have never heard it before. and him and his girlfriend both dyed their hair the night Kailee went missing.

I'm so sorry for your loss, no one should have to suffer a loss so horrific especially someone so young. Parents should not have to ever bury their children but never something as gruesome as this.

There was no bond and no plea from the 18 year old Bartley man accused of brutally murdering a 14 year old McCook girl. Thursday, Stathis Kirkpatrick faced the judge and a slew of charges including murder in the first degree.

Police said Kirkpatrick led them to what's believed to be Kailee Clapp's burned body in a cemetery.

They also said he altered his story during multiple interviews with police and that blood was found in his pickup truck, on his clothes and bed.

Stathis Sebastian Mobley Kirkpatrick, is charged with 4 felony counts:
murder in the first degree, use of a deadly weapon, tampering with physical evidence, and unlawful burial.

Thursday as he was led into a packed courtroom at the Red Willow County Courthouse he seemed emotionless.

Kirkpatrick, in shackles and pink hair, chose not to enter a plea at Thursday's hearing.

The judge also revoked his bail. That means he will stay in jail throughout the court process.

Kirkpatrick was originally held on $1 million dollars of bond.

He could spend the rest of his life in prison without parole if convicted in the death of Clapp.

According to this court affidavit, Kirkpatrick and Kailee weren't strangers and may have had phone and/or text conversations the night she disappeared. It also indicates that they may have had a romantic relationship.

Kirkpatrick will be back in court on February 11th.

Tonight on News 5 at 10:00 we'll have a closer look at the investigation and according to police the shocking details Stathis revealed to them.

The media is saying that Kailee and Stathis MAY have had a romantic relationship. The above video is a must-see/hear as it talks about text messages between the 2 of them. OMG! I don't know what to think anymore. WTF

PO'd...I saw you posted the link to the above video after I already posted this. You are saying not to believe all the media is saying. OK..I would rather hear it from someone who actually knew her than the media. How can they say they may have been romantically involved..and they are talking about text messages in the wee hours between them. I doubt that she would be texting him if he were stalking her and how did he come to have her cell phone number? I believe what YOU are saying..just asking questions. OMG, this case is so sad. over reaction

Thanks for posting that article above, Wrap (about the memorial service)! I appreciated those words the minister gave. It IS hard to understand why God lets innocent people suffer & get killed at the hands of these "monsters"... I don't think we will ever understand on this earth! But, we have to trust that they are safe with Him, and cannot be hurt anymore.

As for this Stathis, he sounds pretty whacked! Why on earth would he be petting & kissing the wall? Is he trying to appear insane, so that he will get a lesser sentence? Nice try, but I don't think it's going to work!! He's 18 - is he eligible for the DP in Texas?

Also, what about his gf? Wasn't she an accomplice in the murder?

BTW, this reminds me of a previous case (many years ago) of two teens (a guy & girl) who also murdered a young girl (teen) due to a jealous rivalry. Does anyone remember that one? I can't think of the names, but I think they are both in prison serving time now. So sad! What a waste of three lives!!

He is in Kansas so I don't know that this has anything to do with Texas. Not sure at all about his gf. There has not been a lot released on her.

p.s. you may be getting this case mixed up w/Elzabeth's case out of Lubbock, TX. I did that, too.

I think you are talking about Adrianne Reynolds she was murdered by Sarah Kolb and her boyfriend Cory Gregory in the backseat of a car after that they called a friend and he cut up the body !

The service was the most moving one I have ever been to. Ever. It was simply amazing. Stathis is a very sick boy...and I say boy because HE or IT is not a man. & I have no idea, like i said he is a very sick boy. He IS elegible for DP in Nebraska. He is an adult he is elegible in any state! We do believe she was involved, everbody thinks she was.

I agree with this too! It seems (at least in the other cases of a teen boy & girl murdering another teen girl) that the one teen girl is jealous of the other girl (usually the boyfriend is attracted to her, and may have even been involved physically with her). I really hope they are investigating the gf!!

Yes, they did say that in a text or phone call it was stated that she didn't want to talk anymore. the boy in the picture that is blurred out is her boyfriend

I grew up spending my summers in Bartley. Its one of those blink and you will miss it little towns. I can remember how going to McCook was a big dealbecause it ws so much bigger and more things to do than Bartley. I still have several family members who live in the area and they are all just flabbergasted about what has happened. RIP Kailee

McCook teen pleads not guilty in death of Kailee Clapp

The Bartley teen facing four felony charges in the death of a 14-year-old McCook girl pleads not guilty.
The attorney for 19-year-old Stathis Kirkpatrick also asked that his client be psychologically evaluated.
Kirkpatrick was arraigned Monday in Red Willow District Court.
He faces charges of first-degree murder, a weapons count, tampering with evidence and also unlawful burial in the death of Kailee Clapp.
Clapp's burned body was found the evening of Jan. 21 in a Bartley cemetery.
She had been reported missing that morning from her McCook home.

I can give you a few Barltley Rumors. If you dont want them on here you can delete my post. The guy lived across the street from my cousin. He tried to date his daughter but she was scared of him. My cousins daughter said he met Kailee at school before he got transfered to a school for troubled teens and was infatuated with her. Its rumored thats why his hair was pink because it was Kailees favorite color and he thought she would like it. The girlfriend was apparently very jealous and started a fight with Kailee on line or on the phone. How it went from there to him killing her I dont know.

I do wonder what made Kailee go outside that fateful night. If only she had stayed inside, and alerted the authorities, she would be alive.

It is with a heavy heart, I express my deepest condolences too Kailee's family. May they find strength and hope in her memory.

How painful for Kailees family. Her community. What a beautiful young lady. An angelic face. Kind eyes. Confidence on her sleeve.

Stathis is the devil himself, a horror with no soul.
The clip above shows the investigation notes. I dont think his girlfriend was involved. This was his choice and his actions. He confessed to it. He would never protect his girlfriend. He is too selfish. He told the police officer what he did. He planned this. He called Kailee in the wee hours of the morning, and he could have been outside her house in his truck and called her from outside. The cell he had showed up as Steph on the display. He said Kailee told him not too call her because her boyfriend would get mad. She was kind enough to use an excuse about her boyfriend and it was her gentle heart that stopped her from calling him him a freak and hangup.Maybe also some fear. He called her twice in a row. The first time she must have hung up on him. Then minutes later, a second call. They talked for 3 minutes just before 3AM. He either went into her house and took her, or he begged her to come outside (maybe threatening suicide if she doesnt come and talk to him) .. Either way he got her. He might have told her he was parked close by outside. She may have come outside to his truck. When she finally had enough of his begging, she may have turned to leave and this could be where he stabbed her, and screaming was impossible. She bled there, and he took her in his truck, to the cemetary and tried to burn her remains. I bet the police found her blood in the afternoon and then knew she was endangered. After the police got her cell phone records, the police police called back the cell number that had called Kailee just before 3AM ..it was Stathis who answered the phone and confessed to what he did. Then took them to Kailees remains in the cemetary. I doubt his girlfriend was involved. He seemed obsessed with Kailee and he only wished they had a relationship. Its doubtful there was ever a relationship.

I grew up spending my summers at my aunts in Bartley. She had 8 kids and all but 3 still live there with the majority of thier off spring. Bartley is a tiny town Im not sure of the population but in one way or another im related to over 50%.
I did find VH about the time Hailees case came out but thats not why I landed here. I was actually looking for a place to post where if I didnt agree with everyone I wasnt badgered for my opinion,or made to feel like a little kid being sent to the corner if I said something people dont agree with.
The Cemetary is just down the road from where another cousin lives. you can see it from her back yard.

ctee1 I agree I think this is a case of fatal attraction. From what ive heard the girlfriend wasnt involved and that he and she had argued earlier in the day about his attraction to her. I personally think he snapped thinking Kailee had a boyfriend. Kind of if I cant have you cant either. Sounds like Stathis has been a troubled kid for a long time. I remember reading somewhere and forgive me I dont remember where that he was bullied when he was little. That may have been the beginning of his anger problems JMO

The similaritys in this case and Alicia Debolt from Great Bend Ks is scary. I wonder if Stathis heard about that case. Alicia was killed by a 36 year old ex con Adam Longoria from Tx,who met a woman on a pen pal from prison site and ended up moving to GB with her and her 2 children. He coaxed her out with the promise of liquor. Took her out to a constuction mixing strip. Killed her and burned her body. Alicia was 14. He goes on trial this month and is facing the death penalty.

I also think that the girlfriend was somehow involved in this - if not directly (ie. helping him murder her & dispose of her body), then indirectly (she may have threatened to break up with him unless he killed her). MOO (My Opinion Only)! I'm sure the truth will come out at his trial. It is all very sad! crying

As I read about this case, I kept thinking, man, I've heard this one before - but the date couldn't be right since it was so recent, but Slys pointed out, there was a very similar crime - that was the one I was thinking of I guess. praying for this girls' family and justice for her.

I personally dont think the girlfriend had anything to do with the murder, although I think her actions may have agrivated him to the point he took action. I just dont understand these kids that take such drastic steps and ruin so many lives in the process

McCOOK, Nebraska -- The 19-year-old Bartley, Nebraska, man accused of killing a McCook girl in January has been deemed mentally incompetent to stand trial. Red Willow County District Judge David W. Urbom Monday committed Stathis Kirkpatrick to the Lincoln Regional Health Center for mental health treatment until he is considered competent to stand trial for the murder of 14-year-old Kailee Nichole Clapp...

McCOOK, Nebraska -- The 19-year-old Bartley, Nebraska, man accused of killing a McCook girl in January has been deemed mentally incompetent to stand trial.
Red Willow County District Judge David W. Urbom Monday committed Stathis Kirkpatrick to the Lincoln Regional Health Center for mental health treatment until he is considered competent to stand trial for the murder of 14-year-old Kailee Nichole Clapp.

Kirkpatrick's defense attorneys earlier this month cited a recent psychological examination indicating that Kirkpatrick was not competent to stand trial.
