Teacher, Priscilla Dale Cole, 48, Slammed 4-Year-Old's Face Into Desk/Titusville, FL Preschool Teacher Arrested On Child Abuse Charges

TITUSVILLE, Fla. -- A Titusville preschool teacher was arrested Friday on charges that she slammed the face of a misbehaving 4-year-old into a desk.

Priscilla Dale Cole, 48, of Mims, faces a charge of aggravated child abuse, a second-degree felony punishable by 15 years in prison. Cole is a teacher in the voluntary pre-kindergarten program at A Gold Star Academy at 330 Knox McRae Drive.

According to arrest documents, Cole was mad at the boy for acting up on Wednesday. She grabbed the child’s shirt and slammed him facedown into a table, the report said.

"The victim in this incident ... sustained cut and bruised lips, a bloody nose, bruises to his gums and a loose tooth," said Detective Jessica Edens of the Titusville Police Department.

The child’s mother told investigators that her son was having difficulty eating after the incident.

Cole was taken into custody Friday after an arrest warrant was issued, Local 6 partner Florida Today reported.

She told detectives that the boy was having a "temper tantrum" and was running around a table when he tripped over a chair, causing his face to hit a desk. Cole said she then cleaned up the boy’s wounds with paper towels and placed ice on his face, according to charging documents.

Court records show that Cole was arrested last month on two misdemeanor charges of battery. Previously, she did not have an arrest record in Brevard County.

It’s not known how long she has been teaching at the school.

This is what I don't get and it drives me nuts!! She has a battery charge last month w/the outcome still Pending. Her employer IMO, would be aware of this and have her fired immediately!! She does not look like someone I would want watching my grandchildren. Brevard County (the county next to Orange County - new home (again..of the lying slut), is notorious for NOT doing background checks on teachers and aids.

I'm assuming that it is required that background checks be done on teachers and aids???
If so then the County as well as that teacher should be held accountable!
If this were my grandchild, I don't think I could contain myself enough to just report this. I know I would be up at that school and all over that teacher! I'm really NOT a violent person but an adult doing this to a child, no matter what he did, oh no, I don't think she'd be the only one in jail on a battery charge.

I agree. Brevard County checks them out but they don't do a thorough enough investigation. I tried my best for them to hire me to do them but was told they did not "have the funds for it." I told them, "It is of utmost importance that ALL teachers and aids be checked out to the nth degree. To advise me that our county does not have the funds is despicable. Our children come FIRST!."
