URBANA, Ohio – A landlord who found a woman's dismembered remains in her bathtub said Tuesday that a "gut feeling" compelled him to break into the bathroom after her mother came looking for her.
Gary Zerkle told The Associated Press that 21-year-old Jessica Sacco's mother arrived at the younger woman's Urbana home Thursday night, finding nothing amiss, but a locked bathroom door.

The following morning, Zerkle, who lives next door to the duplex Sacco rented, decided to check it out himself, largely because Sacco's mother had looked so concerned.
"I didn't think that was right," he said of the locked bathroom door. "Sometimes you get a gut feeling."
He removed the doorknob and pried open the door. Once in, he looked behind the shower curtain.
"I pulled it back, and that was it," he said. "And I zoomed out the front door. ... I was trying to gasp for air."
Shuddering, he said he can't describe what he found.
"All I could think about was the sadness for her mother," he said.
Sacco, who police say moved to the area from California about a year ago, paid $360 per month to stay in the duplex, Zerkle said. Her on-again, off-again boyfriend had joined her in the apartment in the fall. Shortly thereafter, Andrew and Kandis Forney, of Fenton, Mich., began staying with them.
The boyfriend, Matthew Puccio, has been charged with murder and other counts in Sacco's slaying and dismemberment. The Forneys and another couple, Christopher Wright and Sharon Cook, of Urbana, are also charged. Police say the couples watched as Puccio stabbed Sacco, then placed a bag over her head and suffocated her. One of the men is accused of helping with the dismemberment.
Some of the body parts were found miles away in Kentucky.
Puccio was arraigned Tuesday and is being held on $100,000 bond. The other four defendants also have been arraigned and are being held on bonds of $50,000 each. Telephone messages seeking comment were left for their attorneys on Tuesday.
Urbana police Chief Matt Lingrell has said that Puccio and Sacco had recently met the Forneys online and that the members of the group were "loose friends." Investigators haven't commented on a motive for the killing, believed to have happened around March 22.
Sacco's mother went to her home after failing to reach her via cellphone for about a week, Zerkle said.
He was having the house emptied and the bathroom gutted on Tuesday by a crew that wore white protective gear and facemasks and placed items in a large refuse container.
"I can't go in there thinking about what happened," he said.
Crews were disposing of almost everything but salvaged Saccos' birth certificate and a baby book. Zerkle plans to return them to her mother.

The level of depravity also seems quite strange for a group of people who were referred to as "loose friends" at best. Among the five people arrested in the murder/dismemberment of Jessica Sacco, her boyfriend was allegedly the ringleader. It appears that two couples had watched the murder and helped dismember of dispose of her remains. All six of the people, including the victim, were newly acquainted. Twenty-five-year-old Matthew Puccio, Sacco's boyfriend, stabbed her and then put a bag over her head and suffocated her while the other four people watched. It's believed that 26-year-old Andrew Forney and his wife Kandis, 25, helped Puccio while the other couple took part in the acts as well. Some of the young woman's remains were scattered near Convington, Kentucky -- which is near Cincinnati, Ohio. The other couple in question, Christopher Wright and Sharon Cook, have also been arrested.

The geography of this case is really unsettling and it seems that a lot of similar crimes regarding missing and murdered young women seem to occur between Covington, Kentucky and Cincinnati, Ohio. Katelyn Markham and Paige Johnson are among women missing from these areas, and are presumed dead. Misty Blu Gwinner was also found murdered near Covington and had ties to Cincinnati. Did any of these young women have any connections at all to the aforementioned five people or the victim?

URBANA, Ohio — A western Ohio woman who authorities say was stabbed, suffocated and dismembered in her bathtub before some of her remains were dumped in Kentucky met two of her assailants on the Internet, police said yesterday.

Jessica Rae Sacco, 21, whose dismembered body was found in her Urbana apartment Friday, was killed by her on-again, off-again boyfriend while others watched, police said. Five people have been arrested; all appeared in court yesterday.

Matthew Puccio, 25, stabbed Sacco before placing a bag over her head and suffocating her, police said. With the help of Andrew Forney, 26, and his wife, Kandis Forney, 25, both of Fenton, Mich., Puccio was able to dismember the body before disposing of pieces, officers said. Parts were found in Hamilton, about 80 miles south of Urbana, and in Covington, Ky., near Cincinnati.

Police would not discuss a motive for the killing, which they think occurred about March 22.

Puccio and the Forneys were arrested in Hamilton and were being transferred to Urbana yesterday. Puccio was arrested on charges of murder, assault, corpse abuse and tampering with evidence.

Andrew Forney was charged with corpse abuse, obstructing justice, tampering with evidence and complicity to tamper with evidence; Kandis Forney was charged with complicity to tamper with evidence and obstructing justice.

Christopher Wright, 37, and Sharon Cook, 25, both of Urbana, were arrested on charges including corpse abuse and tampering with evidence. They were arraigned by video in Urbana Municipal Court yesterday. Bail was set at $50,000 each.

The Forneys, Wright and Cook were in the apartment when Sacco was killed, police said. Puccio and Andrew Forney moved Sacco’s body to the bathtub and dismembered it, the authorities said.

Urbana Police Chief Matt Lingrell said Sacco had been in Urbana about a year after moving from California. She was unemployed.

He said Puccio and Sacco met the Forneys online, but he wouldn’t be more specific.

“They’re just loose friends,” Lingrell said of the suspects.

Champaign County coroner Joshua Richards said an autopsy showed Sacco had been suffocated. He said a single stab wound to her upper abdomen didn’t penetrate any vital organs.

Five people have been charged in the murder of a 21-year-old Urbana woman. Police say four of them stood by while she was stabbed and suffocated and then helped the killer take some of her body parts to Kentucky.

Jessica Rae Sacco, 21, was found dead Friday in her apartment at 625 W. Light St. in Urbana, about 50 miles west of Columbus. Police said she had been killed more than a week earlier, on or around March 22.

Urbana police, in a news release, gave this account of the crime: Matthew Starr Puccio, 25, who lived with Sacco, stabbed and strangled her while four others were in the apartment.

Puccio and another man, Andrew Peter Forney, 26, of Fenton, Mich., moved Sacco’s body to a bathtub, where they dismembered her. Two others, Christopher J. Wright, 37, and Sharon K. Cook, 25, helped them.

Two days after the murder, Puccio and Forney, along with another woman, Kandis Jenniene Forney, 25, took body parts to Hamilton, Ohio, and later to Covington, Ky., where they left them.

Early yesterday, investigators found Puccio and the Forneys at a Hamilton residence and arrested them. They will appear in court on Monday in Hamilton to determine when they’ll be brought back to Champaign County. Yesterday afternoon, Wright and Cook were arrested in Urbana. They will appear in Urbana Municipal Court on Monday.

Puccio faces charges of murder, felonious assault, abuse of a corpse and tampering with evidence. He is being held on $532,500 bond.

Andrew Forney is charged with abuse of a corpse, two counts of obstructing justice, tampering with evidence and complicity to tampering with evidence. His bond is $42,500. Kandis Forney, who lives with Andrew, is charged with complicity to tampering with evidence and two counts of obstructing justice. She is held on $30,000 bond.

Wright, who lived with Cook at a Berwick Drive apartment in Urbana, faces charges of abuse of a corpse, obstructing justice and tampering with evidence. Cook is charged with complicity to those crimes. Both are being held on $30,000 bond at the Tri-County Regional Jail in Mechanicsburg.

Urbana Police Chief Matthew Lingrell did not return a phone message seeking further comment. In the release, police said they would not address the motive, what physical evidence was collected or elaborate on information gleaned from witnesses or the suspects.

Five suspects were arrested Saturday for their alleged roles in killing and dismembering a 21-year-old west side Urbana woman recently.

The Urbana Police Department reports that an autopsy identified the victim as Jessica Rae Sacco of 625 West Light Street.

A pedestrian reported the murder to an officer on patrol Friday morning around 9:30.

Officers along with the Bureau of Criminal Investigation finished gathering evidence at Sacco's residence Saturday morning around one o'clock.

Matthew Starr Puccio, 25, of 625 West Light Street, was charged with murder, felonious assault, tampering with evidence, and abuse of a corpse. Puccio is reported to have been Sacco's boyfriend.

Christopher Wright, 37, of 211 Berwick Drive, Urbana, was charged with tampering with evidence, obstructing justice, and abuse of a corpse.

Sharon Cook, 25, of 211 Berwick Drive, Urbana, was charged with complicity to tampering with evidence, complicity to obstructing justice, and complicity to abuse of a corpse.

Andrew Peter Forney, 26, of 1107 Parallel Street, Fenton, Michigan, was charged with two counts of obstructing justice and single counts of tampering with evidence, complicity to tampering with evidence, and abuse of a corpse.

Kandis Jenniene Forney, 25, of 1107 Parellel Street, Fenton, Michigan, was charged with two counts of obstructing justice and one count of complicity to tampering with evidence.

Police believe that Sacco was killed in her residence on or about March 22nd.

Authorities report that Puccio stabbed Sacco and then suffocated her.

The other four suspects were in the apartment during the murder and failed to intervene.

After Sacco was killed, Puccio and Andrew Forney moved the victim to a bathtub and began to dismember her body.

On March 24th, Puccio and the Forneys transported body parts to Hamilton, Ohio and later to Covington, Kentucky where they disposed of them.

The case will be presented to a Champaign County Grand Jury by Prosecutor Nick Selvaggio.

Wright and Cook were arrested in Urbana and transported to the Tri-County Jail in Mechanicsburg.

Puccio and the Forneys were arrested in Hamilton. They are awaiting an extradition hearing on Monday. Bail was set $42,500 for Andrew Forney, and $532,500 for Puccio.

Bonds of $30,000 were set for Wright, Cook, and Kandis Forney. Wright and Cook are scheduled to appear Monday in Urbana Municipal Court.

The Hamilton Police Department assisted with the case.

It's the first homicide in Urbana this year.

URBANA, Ohio (AP) — A man suspected of stabbing, suffocating and dismembering his girlfriend told a newspaper that he met her through Facebook while looking for new friends and that he met two of his alleged accomplices at a library just three days before the killing.

Matthew Puccio, 25, is among five people charged in connection with the death of 21-year-old Jessica Rae Sacco, whose remains were found in the bathtub of their Urbana duplex apartment in late March, about a week after police believe she was killed. A couple from Fenton, Mich., and two people from Urbana are accused of failing to intervene in the killing and helping Puccio cut off or transport limbs that were dumped in southern Ohio and Kentucky, about 70 to 85 miles away.

In an interview, Puccio said he met Urbana residents Sharon Cook and Christopher Wright at a local library days before the killing, then contacted them afterward and was stunned that they helped him cover it up instead of calling the police, the Springfield News-Sun (http://bit.ly/HnNkaf ) reported Sunday.

"It shocked the hell out of me," Puccio said. "I figured they'd be the first to call the cops on me."

Puccio said he had met Sacco through Facebook while he was living in Texas. Puccio said Sacco provided support he needed after his former fiancée left him and took two of his children.

Puccio said he and Sacco argued often and that their relationship became more stressed because she didn't get along with Andrew Forney and his wife, the Michigan couple who began living at the home shortly after Puccio moved in last fall.

"They always argued, always fought, never got along with each other," Puccio said. "Jess would blow up at them for no reason. Then Jess would blow up at me for things they were doing."

Puccio said he grew up in Woodland, Calif., and had been friends with Forney for years because they attended school together and their families went to the same church. Puccio said he spent the later years of his youth moving between relatives' homes and group homes and sometimes got into trouble by fighting with other teens, even smashing one in the head with a bar stool.

His account of how he became acquainted with the others charged in the case contradicts information provided by police, who have said Puccio and Sacco recently met the Forneys online and that the group members were "loose friends."

It's tough to determine the accuracy of Puccio's comments because authorities haven't disclosed much about him or the case, the News-Sun reported.

Puccio has said Sacco begged him to kill her after he confronted her about text messages she'd sent saying she wanted him dead.

Friends of Sacco say they don't believe that. Amanda Erb, who attended high school with Sacco, described her as a sweet "goofball" with a good sense of humor who wouldn't hurt anyone.

Erb arranged a candlelight vigil Saturday attended by about 50 people, some of whom brought stuffed animals and wreaths for a makeshift memorial in front of the home where she was found.

Another court hearing in the case was scheduled for Tuesday.

The charges against Andrew Forney, 26, include abuse of a corpse, tampering with evidence, obstructing justice, failure to report a crime and possession of criminal tools. His wife, 25, is charged with obstructing justice, failure to report a crime, possession of criminal tools and complicity to tampering with evidence.

The counts against Wright, 37, include abuse of corpse, tampering with evidence, obstructing justice and failure to report a crime.

Cook, 25, is charged with failure to report a crime and other complicity charges.

Wright's attorney said he had not seen the News-Sun report and declined to comment Sunday. Messages were left Sunday for attorneys for Cook and the Forneys.
The Champaign County prosecutor also has declined to comment on details of the case.

(CBS/AP) URBANA, Ohio - The man accused of stabbing, suffocating and dismembering his girlfriend told police a bizarre story about how she died, reportedly saying she asked him to stab her after he found a text saying she planned to have him killed, reports CBS affiate WBNS.

"She started crying and told me, 'I wish I didn't have to die, but I understand what I did,'" Matthew Puccio said.

"She was pleading with me to slash her throat and slash her wrist, do something," Puccio said. "And I told her, 'No, I can't do that to you,' and she told me to stab her then. So, I just held my hand above her stomach. She grabbed my wrist and pulled it into her stomach."

Puccio said that her last words were, "I still love you, and I forgive you."

Matthew Puccio, 24, is among five people charged in connection with the death of 21-year-old Jessica Rae Sacco. A couple from Fenton, Mich., and two people from Urbana are accused of failing to intervene in the killing and helping Puccio cut off or transport limbs that were dumped in southern Ohio and Kentucky.

Sacco's friend, Amanda Erb, told WBNS that Sacco and Puccio met about six months ago on Facebook and that it was Puccio, not Sacco, who was causing problems in the relationship.

"I've been telling her, 'You need to get him out of here,'" Erb said. "Maybe that's what set the whole thing off. Maybe she had enough and was going to tell him to leave. I don't know."

But according to the Springfield News-Sun Puccio told Judge Roger Wilson at an arraignment Friday that he was getting disability payments because "I am clinically insane."

Five men have been arrested in the murder and dismemberment of 21-year-old Jessica Rae Sacco. Her boyfriend and his four friends have been indicted on charges of murder after Sacco was found dead in her apartment.

Matthew Puccio reportedly stabbed Sacco, placed a plastic bag over her head to suffocate her, and then dismembered her body. Four other men stood by and watched as Puccio carried out the murder, saying that they were helpless to stop him.

Sacco's limbs were spread out across Ohio and Kentuky, while her torso was left in the bathtub, where it was discovered by neighbors. Puccio's defense is that Sacco asked him to kill her after sending threatening text messages. The two had dated for 18 months before it soured.

Puccio faces charges of aggravated murder, felonious assault, felony gross abuse of a corpse and misdemeanor abuse of a corpse, and tampering with evidence and possession of criminal tools, reports the Associated Press. His bail is set at more than $532,000 according to NBC, and he faces life in prison if found guilty.

His accomplices stand accused of gross abuse of a corpse, abuse of a corpse, tampering with evidence, obstructing justice and failure to report a crime. Their bails range from $30,000 to $42,500. They should be a Hail of a lot more than that!!!

Puccio told the Springfield News Sun that he met Sacco on Facebook.

"I was just trying to meet new people, make new friends. I was having a rough time. My ex-fiancé walked out on me, took my son, my daughter," he said.

"I've been asking myself these questions the entire time," he replied when asked about wounds he suffered during the attack. "I still can't come up with answers. The average person would have fought back, or at least dialed 911. She never did," he explained.

He claims it was a mercy killing and was surprised when his friends agreed to help him dispose of her body.

"It shocked the [heck] out of me. I figured they'd be the first to call the cops on me," he explained. Paccio revealed that he alone dismembered Sacco's body while the others "cleaned up. I just sat there and broke apart."

FBI Considers Juggalos, Fans Of Insane Clown Posse, A Gang In Annual Report
The FBI is monitoring a growing gang with members across the country who dress in customary colors, assemble for rowdy annual meetings and control the trade of an obscure Midwestern soft drink. They are Juggalos.

In a report on emerging gang trends, federal investigators revealed that they have their eyes on the loyal fans of the horrorcore group Insane Clown Posse.

Known as Juggalos, the followers of the Detroit rap act are famous for their clownish make-up, annual "Gathering of the Juggalos" celebration and their love for the soda Faygo.

But Juggalo "subsets exhibit gang-like behavior and engage in criminal activity and violence," the FBI alleges in a document first reported by Wired.

Per the FBI's National Gang Threat Assessment:

Most crimes committed by Juggalos are sporadic, disorganized, individualistic, and often involve simple assault, personal drug use and possession, petty theft, and vandalism. However, open source reporting suggests that a small number of Juggalos are forming more organized subsets and engaging in more gang-like criminal activity, such as felony assaults, thefts, robberies, and drug sales.
Described as "a loosely-organized hybrid gang" that is "rapidly expanding into many US communities," criminal subsets of Juggalos are active in more than 20 states, according to the document, which also details more notorious gangs like the Crips, Bloods and MS-13.

Juggalos are making significant inroads in New Mexico "primarily because they are attracted to the tribal and cultural traditions of the Native Americans residing nearby," the report indicates.
Investigators believe "Juggalo criminal activity has increased over the past several years," but many Juggalos insist they are linked by music and community -- not criminality.

"Juggalo family is for people that don't belong," Tulsa Juggalo Jesse Brown told Fox 23 last year. "It just fits. It's part of life it's how you live."

Some Juggalos are even trying to change the public's perception of their group.

"We are planning ways to get cops not to see us juggalo as a gang," wrote the moderator of the Facebook page "Juggalos are NOT a gang" in July. "We are family whoop whoop."

He’s accused of stabbing and suffocating his ex-girlfriend, 21-year-old Jessica Rae Sacco, inside her Light Street home in Urbana on March 22. The two lived together.

Kirk Ellis, Puccio’s attorney, requested his client be evaluated for sanity and competency to stand trial.
Champaign County Common Pleas Court Judge Roger Wilson ordered the evaluations and said a hearing would be scheduled once results were received. Ellis declined to comment on his client’s defense until then.

Police believe Puccio called four friends after he killed Sacco to help cut off her limbs and dispose of them in northern Kentucky before going to stay with a friend in Hamilton.

The four others involved in the case also entered not guilty pleas.

Sharon Cook, 25, of Urbana, pleaded not guilty on charges of complicity to abuse of a corpse, complicity to obstructing justice and complicity to tampering with evidence. Her attorney, Cathy Weithman, also asked for a competency hearing.

William Singer, Cook’s father, said he came to the hearing to support his daughter. He said Cook and Christopher Wright, 37, are dating and only knew Puccio for a few days before the killing.

Singer said he has been receiving calls from people calling his family “murderers” and believes Wright is to blame for getting his daughter involved.

“Sharon’s downfall was with Christopher Wright. We tried to tell her he was no good to begin with,” Singer said. “And she didn’t listen because love is blind, you know?”

Wright, along with Andrew Forney, 26, of Fenton, Mich., and his wife, Kandis Forney, 25, of Fenton, Mich., face charges ranging from abuse of a corpse to tampering with evidence and obstructing justice.

They all entered pleas of not guilty Tuesday.

A pre-trial hearing has been set for Thursday for the Forneys and Wright.

COLUMBUS, Ohio (WWJ/AP) - A Fenton couple has pleaded not guilty to charges stemming from the dismemberment of a 21-year-old Ohio woman.

Police allege that 26-year-old Andrew Forney and his wife, 25-year-old Kandis Forney, both of Fenton, were present when Jessica Rae Sacco was murdered and failed to intervene. Investigators also say the couple helped cut off or transport Sacco’s body parts.

The charges against Andrew Forney include abuse of a corpse, tampering with evidence, obstructing justice, failure to report a crime and possession of criminal tools. The charges against Kandis Forney include obstructing justice, failure to report a crime, possession of criminal tools and complicity to tampering with evidence.

Investigators say Sacco was stabbed, suffocated and dismembered before some of her limbs were dumped in southwest Ohio and Kentucky, about 70 to 85 miles away. Other remains were found in her Urbana, Ohio apartment, which is located about 40 miles northwest of Columbus.

Police believe Sacco’s live-in boyfriend, 25-year-old Matthew Puccio, is the main suspect in her murder. He has pleaded not guilty by reason of insanity.

Another couple indicted in the murder, 37-year-old Christopher Wright and 25-year-old Sharon Cook, both of Urbana, pleaded not guilty to charges including corpse abuse, failure to report a crime and tampering with evidence.

The jury trial dates for three co-defendants in the Jessica Rae Sacco murder case were postponed until September during a final pretrial hearing on Thursday in Champaign County Common Pleas Court.

Originally scheduled for June 12-15, the four-day trial now is scheduled for Sept. 5-7 and Sept. 10. Co-defendants Christopher J. Wright, 37, Andrew P. Forney, 26, and Kandis J. Forney, 25, appeared before Judge Roger Wilson at the same time Thursday.

Sitting next to their respective attorneys, the co-defendants were seated at two tables.

After the new court date was set, the co-defendants and their attorneys signed documents waiving their rights to a speedy trial.

The issue of continuing the jury trial date was brought up by Champaign County Prosecutor Nick Selvaggio, who said the state is waiting for information in the case including the autopsy, forensic entomology and DNA reports. Selvaggio added the state is waiting on search warrants for information from Facebook and cell phone providers along with analyses of cell phones and computer hard drives.

He said it was important to have all information to support an earlier statement by co-defendant Matthew S. Puccio.

"The court may be aware that Matthew Puccio has acknowledged being responsible for the death," Selvaggio said. "He then gave a secondary statement that calls into question his first statement and I believe that these defendants that sit before you today have an interest in having every piece of available evidence to them that supports the initial statement that defendant Puccio gave."

Puccio, 25, had said in an April interview with WHIO-TV that he planned to plead guilty to killing Sacco and deserved the death penalty. During the April 10 arraignment hearing, Puccio pleaded not guilty by reason of insanity.

A final pretrial hearing was scheduled for Aug. 3 after attorney Christopher M. Bucci, defense counsel for Mr. Forney, requested another hearing occur before the start of the jury trial.

Wright and the Forneys pleaded not guilty to all charges in relation to the death of Sacco during their arraignment hearings.

Puccio and co-defendant Sharon K. Cook, 25, were scheduled to have mental health evaluations performed at the Forensic Psychiatry Center for Western Ohio, Dayton, on May 10 and May 8 respectively. The forensic center requested Cook return on May 17 for further evaluation.

The five co-defendants were arrested March 30 following the death of Sacco on or around March 22. All five suspects are in the Tri-County Regional Jail, Mechanicsburg.

A status conference for an Urbana man charged with the murder of Jessica Rae Sacco is scheduled for 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, June 27, in Champaign County Common Pleas Court.

The conference concerns the forensic evaluations of Matthew S. Puccio, 26. The evaluations were performed at the Forensic Psychiatry Center for Western Ohio, Dayton, on May 10.

A grand jury indicted Puccio on a count of aggravated murder and other charges for his alleged involvement in the death of Sacco, with whom he lived. His indictment for aggravated murder carries a potential sentence of life imprisonment without parole or life imprisonment with parole eligibility after serving 20, 25 or 30 years.

A motion to suppress hearing for co-defendant Sharon K. Cook, 26, is scheduled for July 17 at 1:30 p.m. during her final pretrial hearing. The motion asks the court to suppress an earlier statement by Cook. The contention is she did not understand and could not waive her Miranda rights. During a June 11 status hearing, the court accepted a report from the Dayton forensic center that found Cook competent to stand trial.

A trial for co-defendants Christopher J. Wright, 37, Andrew P. Forney, 26, and Kandis J. Forney, 25, is scheduled for Sept. 5-7 and Sept. 10.

URBANA, Ohio — Matthew Puccio, who pleaded insanity in the case of the killing and dismemberment of an Urbana woman has been found competent to stand trial.

A request for another evaluation was denied in court Wednesday, June 27, although his attorney will still argue his client was not guilty by reason of insanity.

Puccio is one of five people charged in the killing and dismembering a woman in Urbana who identify themselves as members of a loose-knit group the FBI knows as a growing gang.

The group includes Puccio, 25; Kandis Forney and Andrew Forney, 25 and 26, both of Michigan; Christopher Wright, 37, and Sharon Cook, 25, both of Urbana. All were charged in the death of 21-year-old Jessica Rae Sacco, who was found in the bathroom of her apartment on 625 W. Light St. on March 30, 2012.

Champaign County Coroner Joshua Richards said an autopsy revealed that Sacco's skin showed signs consistent with suffocation. She had also suffered a stab wound in her upper abdomen, although it was not a fatal injury.

Sacco was not pregnant, although there had been rumors that she was, Richards said.

A friend of Puccio and the Forneys said she and the others are part of the Juggalos, people known to like Insane Clown Posse and other Psychopathic Records hip hop groups. The friend, Linda, did not want her full name used to protect her identity.

Juggalos have been identified by the FBI as a loosely-organized hybrid gang that is rapidly growing across the U.S. According to the FBI, the group is somewhat transient in nature and its members are often involved in simple assault, personal drug use and possession, petty theft and vandalism. Social networking has helped the group expand, according to the FBI.

Linda said she, Puccio, the Forneys, Cook and Wright are all Juggalos, but she said it was mostly for the love of the music. She described Sacco as being "on the outside" of the Juggalos group, although Sacco also associated herself with them via Facebook.

"(Juggalos) aren't bad people. We're not really a gang," Linda said. "It's because of the code words we use."

Andrew Miller said he was once a fan of the group and defended its supporters.

"These ICP fans are the most non-racist, non-hating people," the Springfield resident said. "Their songs talk about bigotry and how evil it is."

Cook and Wright were arraigned April 2 in Champaign County on charges involving abuse of a corpse and tampering with evidence.

Puccio and the Forneys were arrested in Hamilton on March 31. On April 2, they waived extradition in Butler County Common Pleas Court and were brought back to Champaign County.

URBANA, Ohio (AP) — A man accused of stabbing, suffocating and dismembering his girlfriend faces a life prison sentence after pleading guilty to aggravated murder and other charges.

Matthew Puccio, 26, entered the plea during a hearing Wednesday in the slaying of 21-year-old Jessica Rae Sacco, whose remains were found in the bathtub of their Urbana apartment in late March, according to the Champaign County prosecutor's office. He'll be sentenced Aug. 20.

Puccio was among five people charged in Sacco's slaying. A couple from Fenton, Mich., and two people from Urbana have pleaded not guilty in the case. Investigators say they failed to intervene in the killing and helped Puccio cut off or transport limbs to southern Ohio and Kentucky, about 70 to 85 miles away.

Puccio also pleaded guilty to three counts of abusing a corpse, felonious assault and tampering with evidence, the prosecutor's office said. Charges of tampering with evidence and possession of criminal tools were dropped.

A call to Puccio's attorney wasn't returned Thursday.

In media interviews, Puccio said he met Sacco through Facebook while he was living in Texas, they moved in together in Urbana and they argued often. He has said Sacco begged him to kill her after he confronted her about text messages she'd sent saying she wanted him dead. He also told reporters that he deserved to die for killing Sacco by suffocating her with a plastic bag.

The Urbana Daily Citizen (http://bit.ly/P3ePgv) reported that Puccio initially had pleaded not guilty by reason of insanity but was found competent after a hearing last month.

One of his co-defendants, 26-year-old Sharon K. Cook, pleaded guilty Wednesday to complicity to abuse of a corpse, complicity to tampering with evidence and failure to report a crime.

Three of five people with roles in the stabbing and dismemberment of Jessica Rae Sacco have been sentenced to prison.
Minutes ago, Andrew Forney was sentenced to 10 years in prison for his part in the case.

Sharon Cook was first in the courtroom today and received three years in prison for her role in the case.

Chris Wright received four years in prison. Both were ordered to pay a $500 fine.

Sacco’s boyfriend Matthew Puccio, 26, pleaded guilty to aggravated murder among other charges, and faces life in prison. Wright, 37; Cook, 25; Kandis Forney, 25; and Andrew Forney, 26, also pleaded to several charges after they were accused of helping cover up the crime and helping Puccio dispose of limbs in southern Ohio and northern Kentucky.
Puccio was brought into court just before 4 p.m. Kandis Forney is to be sentenced Tuesday.

The remains of Sacco, 21, were found in her West Light Street home after her landlord investigated the apartment and discovered her body in the bathtub.

Authorities have provided few details of the case. But in an interview shortly after his arrest, Puccio told the Springfield News-Sun he suffocated and stabbed Sacco after a lengthy dispute they had in their home. He initially pleaded not guilty by reason of insanity but was ruled fit to stand trial.

Puccio pleaded guilty to charges that included single counts of felonious assault, aggravated murder, abuse of a corpse, gross abuse of a corpse, tampering with evidence and an additional count of gross abuse of a corpse included in a bill of information.

Christopher Wright pleaded guilty to two counts of failure to report a crime and single counts of abuse of a corpse, gross abuse of a corpse and obstructing justice, according to prosecutors.

Kandis Forney pleaded guilty to single counts of failure to report a crime, complicity to tampering with evidence and obstructing justice.

Cook pleaded guilty to two counts of failure to report a crime and single counts of complicity to abuse of a corpse, complicity to gross abuse of a corpse, and complicity to tampering with evidence.

Andrew Forney pleaded guilty to nine counts that included failure to report a crime, gross abuse of a corpse, obstructing justice and complicity to tampering with evidence.

Ohio man gets life for killing, dismembering lover

URBANA, Ohio — A man who pleaded guilty to stabbing, suffocating and dismembering his girlfriend has been sentenced to life in prison and must serve at least 42 years before being eligible for parole.

Matthew Puccio, who was sentenced Monday in Champaign County Common Pleas Court, pleaded guilty last month to aggravated murder in the death of Jessica Rae Sacco along with other charges including felonious assault, gross abuse of a corpse and tampering with evidence. The remains of Sacco, 21, were found in the bathtub of their apartment in Urbana, in western Ohio, in late March.

Authorities said Puccio, 26, stabbed Sacco in the abdomen in an argument and suffocated her hours later with a plastic bag. Prosecutor Nick Selvaggio said in court that Sacco fought Puccio off at first but Puccio wrapped a second bag around her face.

The prosecutor also said Puccio enlisted the help of four friends to help in covering up the crime by dismembering the body and helping him dispose of limbs in southern Ohio and northern Kentucky. The two men and two women also have pleaded guilty to charges in the case and were sentenced on counts including obstructing justice, gross abuse of a corpse and complicity to tampering with evidence, with sentences ranging from three years to 10 years.

Puccio told the judge before his sentencing that he loved Sacco. The Dayton Daily News reported that when the judge asked how he could "kill and butcher" someone he loved, he replied: "That's what I'm still trying to figure out."

Sacco's mother, Susan Taynor, was in the courtroom on Monday, holding her daughter's ashes in a red velvet bag in her lap.

Taynor said after the sentencing that she believes Puccio is "an expert in knowing how to manipulate," the Urbana Daily Citizen reported.

During the investigation, Selvaggio said Puccio gave at least five versions of what happened to Sacco before he finally told authorities the truth. Selvaggio said that Puccio initially denied the killing, saying Sacco had kicked him out of the house. Other versions included the claim that he killed her in self-defense after she assaulted him and that he didn't mean to dismember her.
