New Pics: Police issued an Amber Alert Tuesday for Bryeon Hunter, a 1-year-old boy taken by force during an attack near 5th and Main in Maywood.

Officials say the child was taken from his mother around 2:15 p.m. by three males. The men were described as Hispanic, two of whom were "stocky" and one who was bald with a patch of hair in the back of his head. They were in a black, two-door sports car with tinted windows.

The boy's mother said they were attacked and beaten.

"They pulled up out of the alleyway and told me, 'Didn't we say we didn't want to see you here no more?' They pulled down my hair and pulled me in the car and started beating me and all I heard was my baby just screaming," 23-year-old Lakeshia Baker told reporters. "They beat him too."

Baker, speaking with a swollen eye, said she and her son were taken to a wooded area a few blocks away where she was beaten again. She was then put back in the car, returned to the area where she and her son were abducted, and "kicked" out of the car.

The African-American boy is 2-feet tall and 30 pounds. He was wearing a two-tone, blue stripe long-sleeved shirt, jeans, and brown Nike boots.

The Maywood Police Department is asking for information and assistance from the community. If anyone witnessed the events that led to this incident, they are asked to call Maywood police at (708) 450-4471 or dial 911.

A search is underway for a 1-year-old boy from Illinois who was abducted Tuesday afternoon after he and his mother were brutally attacked, reports NBC Chicago.

Bryeon Hunter was last seen in Maywood, a western suburb of Chicago, at approximately 2:15 p.m. when he was allegedly taken by three Hispanic men. The boy’s mother Lakeshia Baker said they were attacked and beaten.

“They pulled up out of the alleyway and told me, ‘Didn’t we say we didn’t want to see you here no more?’ They pulled down my hair and pulled me in the car and started beating me and all I heard was my baby just screaming,” she told reporters. “They beat him too.”

Bryeon Hunter Update: Suspects Argued With Mom Several Days Ago

More details in the Bryeon Hunter disappearance reveal that three people have been identified as suspects -- but the child still has not been found. The men are identified as Eugene Soto, 24, Christian Navarrete, 23 and Maurilio Pacheco, 33. These are the three Hispanic men believed to have taken the child. The license plate to the car they reportedly left with the child in is not known by officials. The mother is in the hospital, but it's not known if she was injured during an attack or the abduction.

A strange detail revealed by this report indicates that the mother of Bryeon Hunter has encountered the three suspects before. She reportedly argued with the three men several days prior to the attack -- but the details behind the argument or how she may know the men are not known.

So why would three men kidnap a child belonging to a woman they had argued with days before? It seems like a story of revenge, but it certainly would take a coldhearted person, much less three people, to carry out a revenge kidnapping. Though, the act of kidnapping an infant from his mother is coldhearted as it is. Could drugs or gang activity be connected to this kidnapping and the argument from several days ago?

CHICAGO (CBS) — A missing one-year-old boy from Maywood was killed by somebody who was upset that the child could not be potty-trained, a source told CBS 2.

The source says the body of a child believed to be Bryeon Hunter was dumped into the Des Plaines River near Maywood. Police on the scene are still searching the area on Wednesday morning.

Earlier, the source said the body had been recovered, but Maywood Police Chief Tim Curry later said a body has not been found.

Bryeon has been the subject of an AMBER alert after his mother told police three Hispanic men beat her and kidnapped the child.

After questioning the mother, police now believe Lakeshia Baker’s story is not true. The alert was issued on Tuesday and police cleared the three men on Wednesday morning.

On Wednesday morning, officers were seen searching the Des Plaines River near Maywood.


No charges have yet been filed. The sources did not say who is suspected of killing Bryeon.

Police are also questioning Bryeon’s father.

Initially, Bryeon’s mother said her son was was abducted at 6th and Main in Maywood by three Hispanic men in a black, two-door sports car with tinted windows.

Hunter was last seen wearing a blue striped long sleeve shirt, blue jeans, and blue and brown Nike boots and is described in the alert as being 2 feet tall and weighing 30 pounds.

Lakeshia Baker claimed she was jumped by the the same people who kidnapped her son.

Baker’s eye was blackened, her face swollen from being kicked and punched.

She limped assisted by loved ones to the Maywood Police Department hoping to help in the search for her son on Tuesday afternoon.

Baker, who is African American, claimed the men attacked her because of her race and wanted her to move out of the neighborhood.

The search for Bryeon Hunter continues on a heartbreaking note. Officials now suspect that the one-year-old infant is dead after missing several hours. Now they are searching the river area near Maywood, seeking the boy's body. The search is being referred to as a recovery mission of the Des Plaines river on what appears to be very specific information -- though officials are offering very little detail to the media.
This morning the mother of the kidnapped child spoke to the media, and it was apparent that she was the victim of an attack. Her face bruised, and her eyes swollen from the tears of a mother stripped from her child -- she claimed to not know the assailants. Though this earlier Gather News report indicates that she was seen arguing with them several days ago.

Was the body of Bryeon Hunter found? Someone on WBBM Newsradio (105.9FM) just reported that the body of the little lad was recovered from the body of water. This comes amid reports that a source told officials that the body was dumped there. The three Hispanic suspects accused by the mother have been cleared of all involvement -- and officials say that her story was not accurate. So what happened?
This source reports that "someone" beat the child because he would not potty train -- a one-year-old child! The mother was also, obviously beaten, but it appears that she might be protecting the person who really did this. The mother is currently being questioned -- and for very good reason. This story just reeks of the Susan Smith incident so many years in the past -- but the mother appears to be (on the surface) a victim of sorts as well.

It should be clarified that no other sources are claiming that little Bryeon Hunter's body was found that are in the Google News Index. However, people are discussing local news reports that he was found. So there appears to be some confusion. Until more reports come out confirming the discovery of his body, it's best to just continue as if he is still missing.

What is perplexing is that the mother falsely implicated three young men who have been cleared of any involvement. She told police that they attacked her and her child in a hate crime because her family is black. This kind of behavior is just despicable when there are real hate crimes occurring all over the country. To falsely report a child missing is just horrendous. Hopefully officials get to the bottom of this.

As authorities questioned the mother of Bryeon Hunter, the missing 1-year-old boy, her family waited anxiously and angrily in the lobby of the Maywood Police Department.

Lakeshia Baker’s family stood by her despite police saying that her story — that she had been abducted and beaten by three men who abducted the child — was not true.

“They need to find the men who took our baby,” said Baker’s aunt, Doris Lloyd.

Baker’s family said the woman’s boyfriend, who is not the father of the missing child, also was being questioned. Police also questioned Baker’s other son, a 4-year-old, who is in the custody of relatives.

Police on Wednesday searched the Des Plaines River near 1st Avenue and Lake Street but the search was called off because of inclement weather. Bloodhounds also were dispatched to look for the boy.

Baker initially told police three men abducted Bryeon from her and drove off in a sports car Tuesday. But on Wednesday, police said that wasn’t accurate.

“We believe this to be an isolated event and not one that was described as three men committing an abduction,” said Maywood Police Chief Tim Curry.

Baker, who was on TV news appealing for her son’s return, had a black eye.

Curry confirmed the mother was beaten, but said police don’t know the identity of the culprit.

Brenda Lloyd, Baker’s mother, said she received a call Tuesday afternoon from a Loyola University Medical Center social worker who told her there was an emergency.

“I started screaming because anytime they tell you to get to the hospital right away you know it’s bad,” Brenda Lloyd said. “She put Lakeshia on the phone and Lakeshia told me, ‘Mom, they beat me up.’” Lloyd added her daughter said the men punched her, kicked her and struck her with sticks before taking the boy.

After Baker was released from the hospital, she went to the Maywood police station where she was taken in for questioning. She remained there on Wednesday evening, Brenda Lloyd said.

“At that point we thought they would release her quickly. We had no idea they were going to keep her,” Lloyd said. “We waited and waited and it turned into an all night thing and we’re still here. No one is telling us anything.”

The 4-year-old was brought to the police station Wednesday for questioning and was with police until Wednesday evening. When he was back in his grandmother’s arms, he threw up and the family left the police station.

When Lloyd and her family were called to the river Wednesday they feared the worst, but weren’t given any information by authorities, she said.

“As far as we’re concerned, Bryeon is at someone’s house and were hoping he’s safe and unharmed and will be found soon,” Baker’s uncle, Herbert Morris, said.

On Tuesday, an Illinois AMBER Alert was issued after the mother told police her son was taken by force during an attack. She told officers that three men grabbed the boy near 6th and Main at 2:15 p.m. Tuesday. They put the toddler in a black, two-door sports car with tinted windows and drove off, she told Maywood police.

The mother told investigators she argued with the same men several days ago.

The boy is described as about 2 feet tall and weighing 30 pounds. Police said he has brown hair and brown eyes and just got a haircut.

He was wearing a two-toned, blue, striped, long-sleeve shirt, blue jeans, and blue and brown Nike boots.

Police are fearing the worst for a Maywood toddler after the Wednesday search for him was suspended due to inclement weather and the account given by own mother being called into question by police.

Police confirmed with WGN that one and a half-year-old Bryeon Hunter is presumed dead, less than two days after his reported abduction prompted an Illinois AMBER Alert.

Bryeon's 23-year-old mother Lakeshia Baker told police three men abducted her and beat her before dropping her off and kidnapping the toddler Tuesday afternoon in the Chicago suburb of Maywood.

As of Wednesday, however, the Sun-Times reports Maywood police believed Baker's statements were untrue. “We believe this to be an isolated event and not one that was described as three men committing an abduction,” Maywood Police Chief Tim Curry said according to the Sun-Times.

Baker and her boyfriend were initially brought to the Maywood police station for questioning after she was released from the hospital, ABC Chicago reports. Relatives say both remained in police custody Wednesday night, and according to ABC, each was apparently blaming the other for Bryeon's disappearance.

Maywood authorities launched a search of the Des Plaines River for Bryeon, but the search was called off Wednesday due to stormy weather conditions, according to NBC Chicago. Earlier Wednesday NBC asked Curry about his hopes for the boy's recovery, and the police chief said he was "not optimistic."

Despite police presumptions, the AMBER Alert for Bryeon is currently still in effect: he's described as a black male, 2-feet tall and weighing 30 pounds. He is listed as last seen wearing a blue striped long sleeve shirt, blue jeans, and blue and brown Nike boots.

Hope is fading that Bryeon Hunter will be found alive.

The toddler went missing from the Village of Maywood last Tuesday.

Three Hispanic males battered her and sped off in a car with her son, according to Lakeshia Baker, the boy’s mother. Within hours, Maywood police had concluded that Baker’s story was not true.

Detectives continue to question the mother and her boyfriend about the missing boy. But as of Friday afternoon, no one had been charged in connection with Bryeon’s disappearance.

“We have searched dumpsters, alleys, vehicles and the mother’s home. We are still looking at the mother’s home,” Police Chief Tim Curry told me.

“It’s like looking for a needle in a haystack, and looking for a needle in a haystack again.”

A search of the Des Plaines River at 1st and Lake Avenue on Wednesday was called off when the rains moved in. Flooding in the forest preserves near the area where Baker claims her son was snatched has made the search even more difficult.

Although Curry doubts the boy will be found alive, he said officers are looking for him in Maywood and elsewhere.

“We are not going to stop. We will never stop,” he said.

The toddler disappeared wearing only a long-sleeved blue-striped T-shirt, blue jeans and Nike shoes.

The search has been a desperate race against time.

Because even if Bryeon’s captors didn’t harm him, even if they dropped him off in an isolated area in the forest preserves, the baby wouldn’t have been able to survive on his own.

Having debunked the mother’s initial story of a racially-motivated attack, police are left with a mystery.

In a normal news cycle, that mystery would have been national news, especially since this mother’s claims about what happened to her son sound a lot like the racial hoax Susan Smith pulled to cover up the murder of her two young sons in 1994.

In that notorious murder case, Smith claimed she had been carjacked by a black man who drove off with her sons still in the car. The mother went on national news programs pleading her case, only to confess nine days later to intentionally letting her car roll into the lake, drowning her children.

Bryeon’s strange abduction, however, was overshadowed by a national tragedy.

Since two bombs exploded during the Boston Marathon on Monday killing three people, including 8-year-old Martin Richard, and injuring 170 others, local and national media have focused on identifying and capturing the culprits.

Then came the rain.

While the initial search of the Des Plaines River brought together police personnel and equipment from across the western suburbs, by Friday most of those police districts were swamped with flood-related distress calls in their own municipalities.

At Maywood’s own police station, some police officers had to seek refuge in makeshift quarters upstairs after the lower level flooded.

Still, considering the gravity of the situation, the scene at the police station was eerie. There were no visible search crews or even media hordes waiting for the latest tidbit.

That’s what we’ve come to expect, isn’t it?

In recent years, families whose loved ones go missing often organize the community and search every nook and cranny themselves .

Bryeon’s grandmother, Brenda Lloyd, was the lone figure standing at a window on the second floor landing at the Maywood Police Station on Friday. She was glued to the window as if she expected to see her grandson walk up any minute.

Not surprisingly, the family has hired a lawyer and Lloyd did not want to answer any questions. She did, however, affirm that her grandson has not been found. I would answer ANY and ALL questions.

Bob Lowery, Senior Executive Director of the Missing Children’s Division, National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, said volunteer search crews are usually organized in the early hours of the disappearance.

“As time goes on, the search won’t be as visible as you might think you would see. Sometimes law enforcement knows where to look and may be looking into specific areas. I can tell you there is an intense investigation and search for this child,” Lowery added.

An adult knows exactly what happened to this missing child and why. But it will be difficult getting to the truth if the spotlight goes out.

For instance, also on Friday, law enforcement in Boston had the entire city on lock down after one bombing suspect was killed in a battle with police and the other was the subject of a door-to-door manhunt — before being caught.

Such big stories swallow up smaller ones.

But we must not forget close to home 1-year-old Bryeon is missing.

His picture should be in our faces everyday until he is found.

April 19, 2013 (CHICAGO) (WLS) -- The mother of missing 1-year-old Bryeon Hunter has been charged with murder in connection with his disappearance. The mother's boyfriend was charged as well on Friday night.

Lakeshia Baker and Michael Scott were both charged with first-degree murder on Friday. They will both be in bond court Saturday morning.

An amber alert was issued for Bryeon on Tuesday after his mother reported him kidnapped.

Police are still searching for what they believe to be Bryeon’s body in the Des Plaines River.

Bryeon's grandmother Brenda Lloyd wants answers about the whereabouts of her grandson.

"It's getting to the point my baby might be dead, laying somewhere," Lloyd said. "I'm trying not to believe that," said Lloyd.

Despite the injuries that sent Baker to the hospital Tuesday, the three men she accused of beating her and snatching her son have been cleared by police of any wrongdoing.

After Baker was released from the hospital Tuesday night, she and her boyfriend were brought to the Maywood police station for questioning. Both have not been released, each apparently blaming the other for the boy's disappearance.

After all-day searches in the river, and near Baker's home, there is no sign of Bryeon Hunter.

"It's real frustrating," said Lloyd. "I'm trying not to believe my baby is gone."

The search of the Des Plaines River was suspended around 3:30 p.m. Wednesday because of poor weather conditions. The search is expected to continue Thursday.

The boy is described as about 2-feet tall and weighing 30 pounds, the alert said. Police say the boy has brown hair and brown eyes and just got a haircut.

I saw a pic of the "mother" w/a huge black eye.

My take: Drugs/alcohol. Father probably an abuser and drug addict. Mother probably a drug addict. Both 'parents' priorities were the drugs. Wonder where the 'father's' parents are in all of this. Did the bio grandmother ever see any signs of abuse/neglect? She's hired an attorney. WHY? Will she take a poly?

The mother of a 1-year-old boy and her boyfriend have both been charged with first degree murder, according to the Cook County State's Attorney's Office.

Lakesha Baker, 22 and Michael Scott, 21, both of the 300 block of South 10th Avenue, have each been charged with murder in connection with the death of 1-year-old Bryeon Hunter.

Sally Daly, spokeswoman for the state's attorney's office, said the couple is due in bond court tomorrow. The boy's body has not been found yet, she said.

Hunter's grandmother, Brenda Lloyd, had no comment on the charges against her daughter.

"You'll have to talk to my lawyer," she said.

An Amber Alert was issued Tuesday afternoon because the boy was reported missing.

Maywood police Chief Tim Curry said officers began searching the Des Plaines River that night and continued through much of the day Wednesday. He said that was standard protocol and not the result of specific information.

"We don't have any witness information that led us to the river," he said at the time. "This is the usual protocol for a missing person case."

Friday night, Curry had no comment.

Multiple agencies were called in to assist with the search, including the Cook County sheriff's canine unit. A department representative said the search was called off because of the weather but said officers expect to resume in the morning.

Wednesday afternoon, Brenda Lloyd was at the Maywood police station, where she said her daughter — Byreon's mother — and the daughter's boyfriend (Is the bf the bio dad???) were being interviewed by police. Law enforcement sources close to the investigation confirmed that the two were being interviewed.

Curry said the boy's mother said that she and Byreon were on their way to a park Tuesday afternoon when three men jumped out of a black sports car, beat her and took Bryeon with them.

But Curry said that after interviewing the three men the boy's mother identified as her attackers, investigators concluded her account was inaccurate.

A mother and her boyfriend have been charged with first-degree murder in connection with the disappearance of her 1-year-old son.

His mother, Lakeshia Baker, 22, had originally told police in Maywood, a suburb of Chicago, the toddler had been kidnapped sparking a huge search and rescue operation by police.

Now it appears the story was made up and prosecutors are alleging that Baker and her boyfriend Michael Scott, 21, beat the little boy with a belt and plastic hangers, leaving him to die on their bathroom floor.
Scott covered the child's mouth so that his grandmother would not hear the baby scream or cry.

Once the couple realised the child was dead, they quickly hatched a plan to get rid of the the body in a backpack and devised an elaborate cover-up which included pretending that the child had been abducted.

Baker told police her son was snatched from her on Tuesday afternoon, telling reporters that she and her son were attacked and beaten by three Hispanic men.
She even picked three out in a police mug book.
'They pulled up out of the alleyway and told me, 'Didn't we say we didn't want to see you here no more?' They pulled down my hair and pulled me in the car and started beating me and all I heard was my baby just screaming,' Baker told the local TV station at the time.
She even appeared in news reports with with a swollen eye.
Cook County State’s Attorney Anita Alvarez to CBS Chicago that police didn't believe her story. 'I think it is horrific. We are talking about a 20-month-old child and to be continuously beaten and left on the toilet, you could just imagine what this child has gone through,'
Baker had two black eyes in court which she claimed were from the abduction but according to prosecutors they were as a result of an earlier beating by boyfriend Scott. Baker went on live television to reiterate her abduction story.
Under police questioning, Baker admitted that the story was a ruse and that the couple had beaten the child so severely on Monday, that he died the next day.
According to prosecutors, both defendants said the boy's body was placed in a backpack, but they have each accused the other of dumping it in the Des Plaines river.
Baker is being held without bond whilst her boyfriend, Scott, is being held on $750,000 bail.

Paternal relatives of missing 1-year-old Bryeon Hunter expressed concern that they are not getting information from Maywood police in the baby’s disappearance.

Saturday, Cook County State’s Attorney Anita Alvarez’s office charged Hunter’s mother, Lakeshia Baker of the west suburban town, and her boyfriend, Michael Scott, with the child’s murder.

April 16 the pair reported the child abducted saying that he was taken as he and the mother walked down the street in Maywood. An Amber Alert was issued for the boy. But the mother’s and boyfriend’s account of what happened to Hunter quickly unraveled, leading each of them to point the finger at the other.

In announcing the murder charges Saturday, prosecutors said the abduction story was a cover up for the beating that both adults indicate left the baby dead.

Baker, 22, beat her son to death, prosecutors said she admitted. Scott, 21, allegedly covered the boy’s mouth to muffle his cry. According to the charges, after beating Hunter in the bathroom of the home the couple and two children – including Hunter and another young child – share with a relative, Scott and Baker admit to putting Hunter’s dead body into a backpack.

The pair differ on how the body was disposed but both said the backpack with the dead child in it was placed in a nearby river. The Des Plaines River runs through the town, which borders the city of Chicago to the east. Despite canine unit and marine searches, the baby’s body has yet to be found.

Charles Montgomery told the Chicago Defender that he and the paternal grandmother are frustrated and “fed up” with not being able to get more information from the Maywood police or the maternal family in this case.

Montgomery identified himself as the second cousin of Bryant Hunter, Bryeon Hunter’s biological father. Bryant Hunter is currently serving a six-year sentence in the Lincoln Correction Center in Lincoln, Illinois for a felony drug conviction.

The cousin said Bryant Hunter and Baker had been a couple living in Chicago near 71st and Halsted Streets up until Hunter’s arrest and incarceration. Montgomery said after the father was locked up in March 2012, Baker began a relationship with Scott.

The paternal grandmother is “going through a thing about her grandbaby,” said Montgomery.

Baker’s mugshot shows the mother with what appears to be two blackened and swollen eyes. Montgomery said Scott is abusive to her. The cousin suspects that it was the boyfriend who may have harmed Bryeon.

“If you want to find the baby, they have to start with that guy,” said Mongtomery.

Baker is being held without bail in Cook County Jail on first-degree murder charges. Scott’s bond was set at $750,000.

Members of the mother’s family, friends and other supporters gathered in Maywood Tuesday evening for a vigil in honor of the Bryeon. They all want to know where the boy’s body is and what happened to him.

The search for Bryeon Hunter's body continued over the weekend, but as of April 29, 2013 there aren't any investigative updates to share. The body of the missing Maywood, Ill. child still hasn't been located, but is believed to be in a backpack somewhere in the Des Plaines river where his mother and her boyfriend discarded him nearly two weeks ago. WGN TV News shared the latest updates in the search for the boy.

While the search continues for the presumably murdered child, his mother Lakeshia Baker and her boyfriend Michael Scott remain jailed. They are both charged with first degree murder -- among other charges. Both Scott and Baker admitted to beating the child brutally before leaving him on their bathroom floor to die. His battered dead body was then folded into a backpack and discarded in the river near McDonalds in Maywood.

The search for Bryeon Hunter isn't without conflict, however. Volunteers in the area have expressed anger toward the community of Maywood for seeming to lose interest in the case. One volunteer said:

"We don't have help from the village of Maywood. I don't understand it."

It may be because the original Amber Alert had everyone out searching for the child, especially when Lakeshia Baker claimed that three Hispanic men abducted the child and beat her in a hate crime attack. However, once the entire nation learned that the woman and her boyfriend murdered and threw the child into the river, the urgency in locating him dwindled. There is a difference between searching for a child who is in danger and searching for a child who has already been murdered.

Even if the "mother" was abused..and I don't doubt that..is NO excuse for what has happened to Bryeon. She could have at some point LEFT, while the bf was asleep.

Grandmother of missing Maywood boy Bryeon Hunter defended her daughter, saying it was the boyfriend who killed the boy. Michelle Relerford reports.

Authorities expressed confidence Wednesday that the body of a small child found a day earlier in the Des Plaines River is that of Bryeon Hunter, a 1-year-old Maywood boy who last month was the subject of an Amber Alert.
Positive identification had not been made by Wednesday afternoon -- that has to be made by the Cook County Medical Examiner -- but the river has been an area of focus ever since Bryeon Hunter vanished on April 16.
Authorities almost immediately believed the boy had been beaten to death. Days after his disappearance, Hunter's mother, Lakeshia Baker, and her boyfriend, Michael Scott, were charged with first-degree murder.
Though a positive ID still needs to be made, Hunter's grandmother, Brenda Lloyd, viewed the recover as a chance to say goodbye.

"My baby can rest. He can rest now," Lloyd said through tears. "I love him and I miss him, wont have a chance to be with him, hold him."

The case against Baker and Scott was continued Wednesday to May 23. Baker's mother defended her daughter, saying she didn't do it.

"I'm praying that they let my daughter go cause my daughter didn't do it," Lloyd said. "He did it. The boyfriend did it. His family knows he did it. My daughter wouldn't kill her baby."

Authorities on Tuesday focused on a portion of the river near 1st Avenue and 31st Street, in North Riverside, after receiving a tip from a kayaker about an object in the water.

"I didn't see it right away but I looked down -- I caught a glimpse of what appeared to be an infant body," said Robert Larson, who trains dogs for search and rescue and has been actively searching the river ever since Hunter vanished.

"I looked down in the water and I thought to myself, "This can't possibly be the final resting place for this boy. It just can't possibly -- I can't let that happen," he said.

Cook County Sheriff Tom Dart said Larson has been "very dedicated" with helping in the search for the boy.

I don't give a **** whether his Mother actually 'did IT', she went to police and lied about everything so she's just as guilty as if she did it in my book. She should NOT be let out, ever.

May 21, 2013 (MAYWOOD, Ill.) (WLS) -- Maywood honored a man who spent a month searching for the body of a little boy he never knew.

On Tuesday, an award was presented to Robert Larson, who took it upon himself to become a one man search team until he found the body of one-year-old Bryeon Hunter.

He discovered the child in the Des Plaines River in North Riverside.

The boy's mother first said he'd been kidnapped, but then admitted she and her boyfriend beat him to death and dumped the body.
