An Indiana woman vanished from an airport just moments before she was set to board an airplane with her family.

Jeanne Rysiewicz, 26, was last seen on September 16 at 6:00 p.m., in line with her family at DFW International Airport in Texas.

"We were ready to board the plane and we looked around and Jeanne was still in line," her father, Edward Rysiewicz, told CBS DFW. "She was like 2 or 3 people behind us."

Her mother, Barbara Rysiewicz, remembers getting on the plane and quickly realizing her daughter had not boarded. “I got off right away and I couldn’t find her anywhere," she said.

The Rysiewicz family had been visiting Texas for the wedding reception of Jeanne's older sister.

Security footage shows Jeanne Rysiewicz exiting the airport alone, and her dead cell phone was located outside, near the terminal where she was last seen. Airport spokesman David Magaña said there is no indication of foul play.

Barbara Rysiewicz told the New York Daily News that she believes her daughter left the airport of her own free will, though she is not sure why. She noted her daughter had recently gone through a bad break-up and had been sleeping a lot.

"We just want to say we love her, and if she needed to sort things out, it’s fine,” she told the paper.

Jeanne Rysiewicz is described as 5'5", 115 pounds, with light brown hair and blue eyes. She was last seen wearing a black hoodie, gray pants and brown shoes.

Anyone with information is asked to call the DFW Airport Department of Public Safety at (972) 973-3210.

Search for daughter who vanished from boarding line at Dallas airport

Jeanne Rysiewicz, 26, was seen on security footage leaving the airport alone, while her family was boarding a plane to head home to Indiana. Her mother says she has no idea where the young woman went, or why.

The family of a young woman who vanished while they were boarding a plane in Dallas last month is praying she returns home safe.

Jeanne Rysiewicz, 26, mysteriously disappeared from the Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport in Texas on Sept. 16, on her way back home to Indiana after her sister’s wedding reception.

“We were all getting on the plane and my other daughter has wheelchair accessibility so we went on first, and I saw [Jeanne] back there and I looked at her, like, ‘Hey come on, we have to board the plane,'” mother Barbara Rysiewicz told the Daily News. “She looked a little worried but I don’t know why. And we got on the plane.”

But Jeanne never boarded.

Barbara got off the plane before it left for Chicago, and stayed in Dallas, searching the airport for four hours. She found no sign of her daughter. Her husband and other daughter stayed on the flight and returned home to Crown Point, Ind.

“I thought maybe something had happened, but I thought she would call us and tell us what was going on,” Barbara said.

The woman went missing after her sister's wedding reception in Dallas.

Security footage shows the young woman leaving the airport alone.

Jeanne never called, and no one has heard from the young woman in nearly a month.

The video convinced Barbara her daughter left on her own will, but she doesn’t know why. Jeanne is “usually very happy” and has never been on anti-depressants or had mental health problems, she said.

Barbara wonders if she was still reeling from a bad breakup, and needed time to herself to get over it. The young woman works two jobs as a waitress and was exhausted during the family trip to Dallas.

“She slept a lot,” Barbara said.

Jeanne’s cell phone was found outside the terminal, along with one of her two carry-on bags. Police believe she took the other with her.

There has been no sign of activity on Jeanne’s credit cards or Facebook page, where her “likes” portray her as a typical young woman who enjoys Conan O’Brien, Mariah Carey and the Chicago White Sox.

Police say they have no reason to suspect foul play.

“We just want to say we love her, and if she needed to sort things out, it’s fine,” Barbara said.

Indiana Woman Jeanne Rysiewicz Vanishes from Airport

October 11, 2012 12:15 PM EDT
by Jim Kane

Jeanne Rysiewicz walked out of Dallas-Fort Airport last month, never to be heard from again. Where did she go?

The 26-year-old Indiana waitress was returning home to Crown Point from Dallas Sept. 16 with her parents and sister, when she simply vanished. Closed circuit surveillance cameras show the woman leaving the terminal alone, and one of her bags and cell phone were located on the ground outside.

This is a very bizarre story. It sounds like she had just had enough, and decided to start a new life, but who knows for certain. This has be every parent's nightmare. Even though Jeanne is a grown woman, she is still her parents' daughter, so they must be distraught not knowing where she is.

Apparently, she was following right behind her mother, father and sister, when she disappeared. When Rysiewicz failed to board the plane, her mother became worried, and decided to search the bathrooms and hallways of the terminal. According to police, it appeared Jeanne combined her belongings into one bag, which she took with her.

There may be a clue about the strange disappearance of Jeanne Rysiewicz. For some strange reason, her family keeps stressing to authorities their daughter was not depressed, and was not on any psychotropic medications. Why would they be so adamant about this detail? Either way, hopefully she will be located unharmed soon, so her family is spared any more pain.

I am sure LE has asked her parents if she was depressed and taking meds. I don't believe Mr. Kanes' comment is fair and I don't think the parents are "STRESSING to authorities their daughter was not depressed, and was not on any psychotropic medications." They have probably been asked this question umpteenth times. I don't believe her parents are Hiding anything..they are simply Very concerned for their daughter and rightly so. The girl was in line behind her parents, ready to board a plane.

It was stated she just went through a bad break-up. So, maybe seeing her sister getting married depressed her and for whatever reasons, she did not want to return to Indiana, had money, combined all her belongings in one bag and walked out of the airport. It happens. Maybe she has friends in Dallas her parents don't know about..maybe she met someone at the wedding.

NOVEMBER 5, 2012

On Monday, the family of a woman who disappeared from the Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport is still seeking answers to where she might be.

On Sept. 16, Jeanne Rysiewicz, 36, from Crown Point, Ind., and her family were catching a plane to return home after a family wedding, but Jeanne never boarded, reports the Star Telegram.

"We were ready to board the plane, and we looked around and Jeanne was still in line, she was like 2 or 3 people behind us, said Jeanne's dad, Edward.

When Edward turned back around he noticed Jeanne was farther back in the line and he yelled to her, "Hey, come on, we gotta go," and boarded the plane.

When Jeanne didn't appear on the plane, Jeanne's mother, Barbara, got off the plane to search for her. She looked in the bathrooms and other areas of the airport, but could not locate her.

Authorities were called and surveillance video showed something no one expected. Jeanne leaving the airport, at the same time everyone was boarding the plane.

Jeanne's travel bag was found abandoned near the building and taken to the lost and found. Her cell phone was found in the Terminal E infield parking lot the next evening.

"It looked to our investigators as if Jeanne had taken the two bags that she had and combined some things into one bag and left the roller bag behind," David Magana from the Dallas airport said.

After 6 weeks, the family is no closer to answers why Jeanne left.

"I think she walked out on her own," Jeanne's older sister Renee told the Star-Telegram.

Edward thinks that after finding religious material in her abandoned suitcase that she might have joined a church or religious group in Texas.

Barbara Rysiewicz told the New York Daily News that she believes her daughter left the airport of her own free will, though she is not sure why.

"We just want to say we love her, and if she needed to sort things out, it’s fine,” she told the New York Daily News.

Anyone with information about the disappearance of Jeanne Rysiewicz can contact the DFW Airport Department of Public Safety at 972-973-3210 or her parents at 219-808-9626.
