Haleigh Cummings' grandma: 'We just want somebody to look for her'

On Haleigh Cummings' sixth birthday, Texas EquuSearch founder said he will search for the missing girl once again.

On the day that Haleigh Cummings' family should joyously be celebrating her sixth birthday, her relatives instead sat teary eyed inside an Orlando law firm and made another plea for the public to help find her.

They won't search immediately though, because the vegetation is too thick.

Here is another interview yesterday w/Teresa Neves. You can see Ronald and Jr. in the background. I have to feel some sympathy for Teresa.

And yes, another six weeks. No point in searching now. Florida is threatened with 2 hurricanes possibly heading their way. One may hit by this weekend.

Officers consider the former girlfriend, now wife, of the man whose daughter vanished from a Putnam County home earlier this year to be the key in their continued investigation into the girl's disappearance.

This is a very interesting article. It also says LE does NOT know if Misty has hired an attorney. What gives here?

Police: Baby sitter key to missing Fla. girl case
By RON WORD Associated Press Writer ©️ 2009 The Associated Press
Aug. 17, 2009, 3:41PM

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Putnam County investigators say they don't think that Misty Croslin-Cummings has been straight with them as they continue to investigate the disappearance six months ago of Haleigh Cummings from her father's home in Satsuma.
In a news release marking the child's sixth birthday Monday, investigators said the child's biological parents, Ronald Cummings and Crystal Sheffield, were not suspects.

But for the first time, they don't think Haleigh was abducted by a stranger. They said, Misty Croslin, who was baby-sitting the girl when she vanished from her father's mobile home in February, "continues to hold important answers in the case."

"She has failed to provide any sort of detailed accounting of the hours during the late evening and early morning of Haleigh's disappearance.

Furthermore, physical evidence at the scene contracts Misty's sketchy account of her evening activities."

Haleigh Cummings: Mom, Dad Cleared, But Not Misty!

By Art Harris, The Bald Truth, (c) www.artharris.com, all rights reserved

Missing Haleigh Cummings would be six years old today, but the best present investigators can give her grieving parents is that neither are considered suspects, not father Ronald Cummings, nor mother Crystal Sheffield, but the 17 year old who was babysitting and reported her missing, Misty Cummings, is believed to know more than she has revealed.

This is a must-read article!!! I am awaiting the comments from you all on this one!

I cannot keep up with it all, BJ..try as I might! So, PCSO is saying the DVD player was too high for Haleigh to put put a DVD into it and the controls were too complicated. Hmm. And, I love Ron's alibi for the "headless rat." They were partying at his grandmother's house. What a bunch of idiot's. I would have damned sure come up with a better alibi than that. Isn't he suppose to be grieving???? :?:   thinking :jaw dropping: wine drinker

“Furthermore, physical evidence at the scene contradicts Misty’s sketchy account of her evening activities,” the statement said. “She either won’t or can’t account for what she was doing,” Greenwood said.

Ronald Cummings’ mother said she does not believe her daughter-in-law has misled investigators. Misty Croslin has a seventh-grade education, Teresa Neves said and should not be able to fool interrogators that have included FBI agents.

Neves said she was glad suspicion was lifted from her son and that detectives should continue to interview anyone who they believe holds information that will help the case, including her daughter-in-law.

“I say more power to them,” Neves said. “Anybody who can actually be tied to this they ought to bring in and keep them until they get the answers.”

You know I haven't read all the articles but I think maybe its time to move on from Misty. Law enforcement can sit back til the cows come home and say "Misty lied". Well it should be "put up or shut up time". That little gal has been flipping around Satsuma long enough. If she is responsible...charge her. Find out everything she did, does and was. If nothing else charge her with child neglect.

I think Satsuma LE are sitting back on their big fat duffs and saying "That little gal of Rons, Misty, lied". Thats their excuse for sloppy police work and no leads.

Move on. Move forward. Find Haleigh.

That's what I was thinking, too, Jeanne...Arrest her for child neglect and/or endangerment! They arrested KC for that so why can't they get Misty on those charges? Or maybe it would be that they would have to get Ron on those charges because he was the legal guardian and allowed a druggie seventeen-year-old to babysit Haleigh? IDK...but put pressure on SOMEBODY, for heaven's sake!

Jeanne & Lisette, I agree with both of you. I think Misty has no clue what really transpired as she was wasted. Just my take. But, I am hoping now that PCSO has come out and said that Ron & Crystal are not suspects, and Misty's timeline doesn't match..coupled with evidence they found in the trailer..that Teresa Neves and GGMA Sykes will stop thinking she is the best thing that ever happened to Ron. And, Teresa "hired" Mark Nejame and Tim Miller so it is evident she wants the truth.

I found this video. Poor Teresa. She is a mess.

Wrap I looked at the video and before I even looked I was prepared to start in on Teresa and how she raised Ron. But her heartbreak looks so darn true I am holding my tongue on that one.
From everything we saw and learned when Caylee was missing I watched the body language of the policeman talking about Haleigh missing. Did anybody else notice how he kept shaking his head back and forth. Doesn't that mean he is lying???

I can't even imagine a missing child. Nothing would ever be the same. Everyday when you wake up..its there.

Jeanne, yes..it CAN mean it is lying. Body language and tone of voice, eye movement are everything.

It is evident to me that Teresa is completely torn up; but I do not understand HOW she can even Look at Misty!! I would be telling Ron he better kick her to the curb NOW!! OR, put her in his truck and drag her ass down to the police station. He is not doing that so I think he knows what happened and I personally still suspect him no matter what that cop shop says. I think PCSO are a bunch of "Barney Fife's." Just MOO!! :blablabla:

Ugh, i always hate playing devils advocate but even if he DOES know misty did something, maybe he does really care about her and cant bring himself to turn her in.

Think about all these other cases for instance when a mother takes off with a known SO...they endanger their children because they 'love' the other person and cant bring themselves to put their kids' best interest before their own...

So maybe her father really didnt do anything hiself, and maybe misty told him what really happened and he's still sticking around..does that make him less of a scum bag if thats true? No, hes still a scumbag...and he might be preventing justice in his daughters case...but at the same time, that doesnt mean he was responsible for whatever happened to haleigh.

Sassy, you may have a point.

I think this could also be a possibility. Maybe he called Misty and asked her to go get them some drugs for when he gets off work. Misty leaves the back door unlocked..someone sees her leave and grabs Haleigh.

He may not be talking because he KNEW Misty left the house on a drug run at his request.

Sassy, I think a real druggie at that moment only cares about the drugs. Being in a drug induced state makes you even make more poor choices, like leaving two children unattended. i wish to God there were some answers about Haleigh.

It could be also that RON forcing MISTY's hand, would open a can of worms about his CRIMINAL ACTIVITY. It sounds plausible that Misty was making a drug run!

As involved as GRANDMA Neves & GGMa Sykes are, I find it MORE than suspicious that they haven't called publicly for MISTY to answer the questions needed. GRANDMA Pleasa saw through KC's lies as well as questioning CA's judgment.

IMO, M NeJames won't put up with her ignorance just as he wouldn't put up with CA/GA's. Hopefully, she will listen to his advice & hopefully force Misty's hand some how.

It is quite plausible that when Ron gets off work at 3am, he is ready to kick back with some booze and drugs after a long, hard 12 hour shift (insert snark here). :lol!:

You know, honestly and IMO.. I really do feel that Ron was a caring loving father and even more so after seeing the pics on this Myspace http://www.myspace.com/grandmas_angel_haleigh

I think he made a lot of mistakes in his life and had a serious drug problem, but that doesn't mean he didn't love and care for his kids.

I think all of your above theories are great, and I definitely lean more to the theory that Misty was F'ed up on Drugs and was either passed out or NOT there and someone who lived in the area and knew her patterns came in a took HL. I believe it was a crime of opportunity and a sick sick Sicko is still at Large and LE need to get their ass back on track and find this MO FO!!

Mommyof3, i know how you feel and what you mean. I know that just because a person makes mistakes and does some pretty bad things, doesnt mean they dont love or care for their kids...however, if he was somehow involved in the reason that misty wasnt there with haleigh, that does put him in a place of being semi responsible for what happened to his daughter, no matter how much he loved her.

IF..i know thats a big if, but its still a possibility.

I think he loved Haleigh but he has a hair trigger temper and probably cursed and screamed in front of them all the time and God only knows what else. "Love" is a word, IMO, that is used way too frequently. My husband said he loved me and sometimes, he acted like it..was kind and caring..but when he drank or used drugs..all the "love" and caring went right out the window.

IMO, both Ron and Misty are drug addicts; therefore, the drugs are the priority - as it is in any addiction - the addiction comes first over family, job or health. Therefore, I do NOT believe Ron was a good father. Also, he made a very, very costly decision in allowing a drug addicted 17 year old be responsible for at least 12 hours per day in watching two children under the age of 6.
