Mother Monique Terry Beat Kids With An Extension Cord and Curtain Rod

FAYETTEVILLE (WTVD) -- Cumberland County sheriff's detectives have charged a Fayetteville woman with child abuse.

Detectives arrested Monique Terry, 38, Tuesday. She is charged with felony and misdemeanor child abuse after allegedly beating her 13-year-old daughter with an extension cord and her 12-year-old son with a curtain rod.

Terry allegedly forced her daughter to lie down on a bed and then beat her across her legs and arms with the cord. The girl said she was hit at least ten times and was left with several U-shaped bruises on her body and a one-inch cut on her shin.

Terry also is charged with beating her son with a curtain rod. The boy told investigators his mother hit him at least six times on his lower back, his arms and buttocks, leaving red marks on his arms.

She is being held in the Cumberland County Detention Center under a $5,000 bond, and her first court appearance is scheduled for today.

You would think kids 12 and 13 would be able to overcome her and get the heck away from her.

not if they spent their entire lives with her beating them down!

And the sad part is, that often these kids somehow will believe it was their fault Momma beat them.. and they will continue to love and adore her. Have seen it happen.

You are so right, Marica, I have seen it happen too.

Even years later the kids are haunted by this...the children are currently my stepchildren and I love them with all of my heart and have promised to protect them. I wish I could do to her what she has done to them!!!
