Kronk to be questioned by defense - prior incident of another discovery made years ago may be used by defense to incriminate Kronk!
ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. -- Casey Anthony’s attorneys on Friday will question Roy Kronk, the former meter reader who found Caylee Anthony's body.
VIDEO: Prior Incident Cited
Local 6 has learned of another discovery that Kronk made years earlier in Tennessee that could impact the Anthony case.
Anthony’s defense team has suggested that Kronk may have kidnapped and killed Anthony's daughter, Caylee. Anthony is charged with first-degree murder in Caylee's death.
Local 6 has obtained a police report from Tennessee that sources said may be used by the Anthony’s defense team to attack Kronk’s credibility.
During Friday’s depositions, Casey Anthony’s attorneys will likely question the former meter reader about the rainy day in 2008 when he found Caylee’s body.
The defense is also likely to question him about the day four months earlier when he repeatedly called authorities to the same area to report a suspicious item he found there. A deputy showed up, but was unable to find anything unusual.
Now, Local 6 has learned that 11 years earlier Kronk called authorities to another wooded area in Tennessee, but that once again officers who responded to that scene were unable to find what Kronk had been describing.
According to a 1997 report from Kingsport, Tenn., Kronk told investigators they would find several stolen guns and other stolen items in a wooded field. But when officers searched the field, they were unable to find any of the items Kronk was talking about.
According to sources, Casey Anthony’s defense team found it odd that Kronk would call police twice to two different wooded areas where nothing was found.
Sources said the defense team may use the Tennessee police report to challenge Kronk’s credibility and raise reasonable doubt.
Anthony’s lawyers have already suggested that Kronk may have been responsible for the toddler’s disappearance, even though police and prosecutors have not turned up any evidence of that.
Local 6 called Kronk’s attorney for a response to allegations against him. He said there is no need for a response, calling this, “One of the many sideshows in this case.”
Kronk’s attorney also said his client has nothing to hide and points out that he is not the one on trial.
Anthony has pleaded not guilty. Her trial is scheduled to begin in May 2011.

Re: Kronk to be questioned by defense - prior incident of another discovery made years ago may be used by defense to incriminate Kronk!
ORLANDO, Fla. --
A key deposition is under way in the case against Casey Anthony.
After Kronk's first session, Anthony’s defense filed paperwork suggesting the man who found Caylee's Anthony's remains should have been investigated as a suspect.
"Anything that we would be trying to do here would be focusing on establishing reasonable doubt for various aspects of the case," Anthony defense attorney Cheney Mason said before the deposition.
Anthony defense attorney Jose Baez remained quiet about the connection between Kronk and his client's case.
"I have always had a longstanding position that we will not discuss what we will do in trial," Baez said.
Kronk's attorney called some allegations against his client "ridiculous" and said it "doesn't take much preparation to tell the truth."
An Orlando criminal defense attorney said the deposition will give Anthony’s defense team the chance to solidify their theory that Kronk is someone they could point the finger at in Casey's trial.
“Either he's the guy, or he's not the guy,” criminal defense attorney Richard Hornsby said.
Hornsby said Anthony's defense team can gain valuable information against Roy Kronk, but they still have to commit fully to the theory that Kronk was behind Caylee Anthony's disappearance.
“The state has a solid theory it's Casey Anthony. The defense does not have a solid theory if they're just kind of pointing at Roy Kronk and saying he wasn't investigated enough,” Hornsby said. “You can't have it both ways.”
His attorney said Kronk is not commenting in advance of tomorrow's session. Previously, he's made it clear he had nothing to do with Caylee's disappearance.
This deposition comes in advance of both sides going back in front of Judge Belvin Perry to argue over whether the defense can introduce testimony of Kronk's alleged "prior bad acts."

I dont get this at all. I dont care if Kronk stumbled across a 100 dead bodies it doesnt have anything to do with the Anthony case. Are they now going to try to change Caseys "thats my story and Im sticking with it" Zanny tale to include Kronk?

Whatever Jose. I hope you can prove Kronk had access to the Pontiac KC was driving and the Anthony home. Otherwise forget it. No one in their right mind would believe Kronk had anything to do with the murder of little Caylee.

I agree that its ludicrous, however, they are serious about this tactic. We all know how Baez has said all along that we will all understand when the trial starts, what happened. It reminds me of Hercule Poirots "all will be revealed" but this stretches it to incredulity.
No jury will buy it.
No jury will buy it.

Right on, Cherylz!---If this Kronk guy had anything to do with her death, a mother would not keep quiet about such a kidnapping, nor would she fabricate stories about her child missing, she would have gone straight to the police to report it. What a lame try this is on the part of the defense. There is no way of getting around their client's responsibility for what happened to their client's daughter. One could only possibly suspect that Kronk was told by one of the Anthonys where to look, the thought of which still implicates KC as having supplied that information to him.cherylz wrote:Duh! Kronk Submits Proof Of Whereabouts Before Finding Caylee
Lawyer Says Kronk Dealt With Car Trouble In Sanford The Day Prior

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. -- Former meter reader Roy Kronk, the man who discovered Caylee Anthony’s remains, has given the state documents that he says prove his innocence.
Kronk’s attorney said Casey Anthony’s defense was foolish and irresponsible by going on national television and proclaiming Kronk a potential suspect in Caylee’s death.
Kronk gave receipts to prosecutors proving his whereabouts the day before he found Caylee’s remains.
Kronk was off work that day, and Anthony’s defense team previously suggested that he took the day off to orchestrate the discovery of Caylee’s body.
Kronk said the clutch went out in his car that day, so he had to be towed to a Sanford auto repair shop and wait for hours of costly repairs to be completed.
Receipts were given to prosecutors by Kronk’s attorney for both the tow and the repair job.
“I think it's pretty definitive proof that the reason he was out that day was he had car trouble, pretty expensive car trouble. You don't make stuff like that up,” said David Evans, Kronk’s attorney.
This week prosecutors turned over the same receipts to Anthony’s defense. Former Anthony defense team lawyer Andrea Lyon once suggested that Kronk intentionally took the day off to stage the discovery.
"What we think is that there's as much circumstantial evidence implicating Roy Kronk as there is implicating my client and that the state and the police should have investigated him as a suspect," Lyon said in November of 2009. "He's the only one who has been with the body. He's the only one who magically discovers it. He takes a day off before he discovers it again in December."
Kronk has said he continually feels he has to prove his innocence.

And the reward was how high back then? I remember the reward being large. Then the reward was yanked away from him for some unknown reason. Lots of people searched for Caylee. Thank goodness Roy found her when he did.

VELEZ-MITCHELL: Leonard Padilla, reward money?
PADILLA: There was a reward if she was found alive. And for a period of time, I had offered one if she was found dead, but that was recalled because a lot of people were trampling back yards and stuff. And so I took it off the table way back.

CALLER: Hi, Nancy. My question is, up until it was announced that a body had been discovered, Leonard Padilla had posted a $250,000 reward. Once it started being reported that a body had been found, he announced the other night that he pulled that reward money. And I`m just wondering, did he pull the reward money because he thought that he was going to find the body first, and wouldn`t have to pay anyone the reward money?
GRACE: Leonard Padilla, you want to speak for yourself?
PADILLA: It sounds like Todd Black`s girlfriend made that call. There was a $50,000 reward for the body way back. I pulled the reward way back. It wasn`t 250. And the situation was such that the worker now in checking to see if he can receive some kind of reward or some kind of compensation, county workers are not allowed to get gifts, compensations or rewards. We have checked with several people here at the county. So the lady is wrong on all counts. And I`m still trying to figure out how to get him some reward without getting Sergeant Allen all over my butt.
