ORLANDO, Fla. -- Chief Judge Belvin Perry called for an emergency hearing Friday afternoon in the case against Casey Anthony.
WATCH LIVE: 1:00pm Casey Hearing
CASEY WALKING IN: Raw Video | See Images
Casey Anthony looked teary-eyed as she walked into the courtroom at 1:27pm, wearing a white shirt and black slacks. Her hair was pulled back into a bun.
Before Casey walked into the courtroom, her parents, Cindy and George Anthony, were smiling as they waited for the hearing to start.
The first part of the hearing was held behind closed doors with Judge Perry, Casey, her defense team and prosecutors.
Judge Perry ruled on Friday that George and Cindy Anthony will be allowed to sit in on testimony of other witnesses during trial, something that is usually not allowed and something the defense has objected to.
"They will not be excluded from the gallery during the trial," Perry said.
The defense is now objecting to the secret location that Judge Perry chose for jury selection. Casey's defense team just found out the location this past Monday.
That issue will be discussed at Friday's hearing, as well as the defense's objection to Cindy and George Anthony's request to sit through the entire trial, even before they testify.

ORLANDO --
Lawyers on both sides of the case against Casey Anthony tried to make some big moves on the last weekday before jury selection.
But Judge Belvin Perry was quick to rule on some last-minute motions at a Friday afternoon.
—————————————————————————
Casey's parents allowed at trial
One motion was aimed at keeping George and Cindy Anthony out of the courtroom during the trial.
Casey Anthony's own lawyers objected to a motion from Casey's parents, asking to be allowed in court throughout the entire trial, and not just when they are testifying.
Defense attorney Cheney Mason argued having the jury see Casey's parents in court could affect whether they believe George and Cindy when they testify.[CM acted so arrogant when he walked up to make his argument and when he responded to JP's question.]
But Judge Perry denied the motion, saying the defense did not show what prejudice against Casey her parents' presence in the gallery would create.
—————————————————————————
Defense drops objection to new venue
Casey's defense team was also expected to object to the secret site of jury selection, scheduled to begin Monday in another part of Florida.
However, attorney Jose Baez withdrew that objection at Friday's hearing.[He was supposed to object by Wed. Did he, or did he just do it today?]
Judge Perry has kept the exact location of jury selection a closely-guarded secret, saying he does not want any pretrial publicity in the area.
He has only told one lawyer on each side of the case where jury selection will be, and ordered the location be kept secret until Monday morning.
George and Cindy Anthony said they did not plan on traveling to attend jury selection.
—————————————————————————
One last visit in jail
Meanwhile, Casey will get one last visit with her mother before trial over the weekend.[I don't think so...KC is probably very irate at them refusing to accept the defense motion to keep them away from the trial. I will be very surprised if she consents to talking to her.]
Orange County jail officials have confirmed that Cindy Anthony has scheduled a video visitation with her daughter in jail on Saturday morning, at 9 a.m.
It would be the first time in over two years Cindy has been able to speak with her daughter.
Of course, it was a media zoo in the summer of 2008 every time Casey's parents went to the jail visit her.
Now, there are still two big hurdles Cindy will have to overcome in order for Saturday's visit to happen:
Casey has to say yes -- and she won't even know the visit has been scheduled until 7 to 7:30 a.m. that morning, according to jail officials.
The Sheriff's Office will likely direct the jail to record the video visit -- and neither Casey's family, nor the defense wants that video released to the media.
The Anthony family's lawyer filed a motion earlier in the week, asking that the video be kept from the public.
That motion could come up at the court hearing.
—————————————————————————
Appeals court mulls media petition
The defense has also responded to a media petition concerning Judge Perry's decision to keep jury selection private until Monday morning.
Just before 10 a.m. Friday, Casey's defense team filed a response to the petition at the Fifth District Court of Appeals, in Daytona Beach.
Casey's lawyers said they needed more time to put together a thorough response, saying they're busy preparing for jury selection and the trial.
The defense asked the three-judge panel to delay a decision, but as soon as it was filed, the court of appeals denied it.]I foresee the defense following JP's prediction that they would file for a "cooling off" period. But maybe not-maybe they want to get this over with too.]
As of Friday morning, the appeals court has not yet made a decision on the petition, filed by several media outlets objecting to Judge Perry's plan to keep the site of jury selection private until 8 a.m. Monday morning.

Re: The case against Casey Anthony ~ May 2011~
They include interviews with Cindy Anthony's co-workers, a jail guard, and others.
By Anthony Colarossi and Amy Pavuk, Orlando Sentinel
12:58 p.m. EDT, May 6, 2011
More than 30 depositions filed by Casey Anthony's defense team were made public today. Many of the transcripts reviewed by the Orlando Sentinel so far are short — some only a few pages.
Defense attorneys Jose Baez and Cheney Mason questioned Deborah Polisano, a director at Cindy's workplace, who said that Cindy Anthony was seeking counseling in June 2008.
"She said Casey and George were fighting a lot and it was affecting their marriage," Polisano said.
Polisano talked about office gossip about Cindy Anthony. People talked about speculation that she and George Anthony were separated and he was having affairs.
She remembers Cindy Anthony being upset about her family forgetting her birthday and George Anthony simply leaving a gift for her on the counter before going to work that day.
But Cindy Anthony was most upset after returning from a vacation in June 2008 that she hadn't seen Caylee, Polisano said.
"She would call Casey and try to talk to the baby and Casey would refuse to put her on the phone," Polisano said.
Polisano remember Cindy getting upset and screaming at George on the phone when Casey's car was found. Polisano told her to go home.
Cindy told her the car had a "very, very, very bad odor." She said George had told her "it smelled like a dead body."
Later after she'd located Casey and the police were contacted, Cindy called Polisano on her cell, saying Caylee hadn't been found.
"Debbie what if the baby's dead?" she asked.
"I said, 'Why would you say that? Don't say that. Casey has to know where the baby is," Polisano said.
Polisano also said Cindy Anthony talked about her pool in one conversation.
"She said that it was weird that her pool ladder was up against the pool because she never did that," Polisano said. "She always made sure, because of the baby, that it wouldn't be near the pool. And that she thought kids must be breaking into her yard and swimming in her pool."
CSI, detectives and jail guard questioned
More than 30 depositions filed by Anthony's defense team were also made public today. Many of the transcripts reviewed by the Orlando Sentinel so far are short — some only a few pages.
Baez and Mason questioned crime scene investigators and detectives — all of whom seem to have little involvement in the Anthony case.
A Secret Service agent said he sent a cell phone to a federal facility for review. The agent was not privy to what was uncovered on that phone, he said.
Baez asked yet another crime scene investigator about media leaks and if she was aware news crews were present when Anthony's car was being processed at the Sheriff's Office.
Also included in the deposition filings is an interview with Orange County sheriff's detective Michael Segreaves, who spoke with a Zenaida Rosado, formerly Gonzales, early on in the investigation. That woman said she never babysat for Caylee.
Anthony told investigators a babysitter named Zenaida Gonzales — a person officials say doesn't exist — took Caylee.
"Basically, she didn't know them," Segreaves said.
He also showed that woman photos of Casey Anthony and Caylee, but she denied knowing either of them.
Other new documents released today include a deposition with former Orange County corrections officer Silvia Hernandez, who was accused of allowing Anthony and another inmate, Robyn Adams, to interact at the Jail.
However, Hernandez said in her March 14 deposition that she had no relationship and little contact with Anthony.
Hernandez said she made sure bathrooms and mirrors for inmates worked properly.
"You never talked to her?" She was asked.
"Just to ask if her bathroom was okay."
When asked if she allowed Anthony to speak with Adams, she said, "I did not allow her to have contact with Casey Anthony...When they come out and take a shower they're going to talk. I was trying to explain they're going to talk through the cracks of the door...They're going to talk through the shafts, you know, through the vents or whatever."
Hernandez also said "inmates are going to pass notes regardless, Casey Anthony or Robyn Adams."
"They put it in books," she said.
Hernandez denied allowing Adams and Anthony to continue to communicate by passing notes through the books.
"I would right in front of the camera open the book and shake it and make sure there was no notes because I already told them I was going to write them up..."

Jury Selection Slated To Begin Monday

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. -- An appeals court has denied an appeal by several media organizations seeking to learn the location of jury selection for the Casey Anthony trial.
The appeal stemmed from a motion by WOFL, WKMG, WPTV, WFTS, Central Florida News 13, The Associated Press and several other media outlets that said Judge Belvin Perry's actions to withhold the location of jury selection limits access to a court proceeding...

But they granted an objection to Perry's plan to tell media outlets who sign a confidentiality agreement earlier than other parties.
Simply put: Judge Perry can keep the jury selection site a secret, but he cannot reveal that secret to select parties sooner than others. Either he tells everyone, or no one.

Ooh...I bet WFTV, In Session, and that radio station are MAD! I don't guess they'll get the word earlier than the others. Can they really do that? It does seem like it's restricting "freedom of the press". I mean, I don't care right now, if this trial starts on time, but I can see an appeal to the Supreme Court as a possibility...which, of course, would mean a delay..

Lawyers on both sides of the case against Casey Anthony tried to make some big moves on the last weekday before jury selection, but were met with mixed results.
While Judge Belvin Perry ruled on a pair of motions in Orlando, the Fifth District Court of Appeals, in Daytona Beach, mulled a petition from the media.

Re: The case against Casey Anthony ~ May 2011~
"If the information at issue here were contained in a court record, it would be entirely clear that the trial court could not selectively give the order to some members of the media while withholding it from others," the ruling read, in part.
"There is some indication in this case that the information to be disclosed under the Confidentiality Agreement was to be verbally communicated to the members of the media that signed the agreement before being subsequently reduced to writing in the form of an order," the ruling read. "We consider, however, that the principle is the same and the outcome is the same. Further, the proposed agreement reflects inherent difficulties in both implementation and enforcement."
It's unclear now when Perry will announce where the jury will be selected. A court spokeswoman did not immediately respond to a request for information...

I bet JP didn't like not being upheld in his confidentiality agreement...Doesn't seem like he's the type that likes to be told he is wrong. Does this mean that we probably won't get to see a televised jury selection? Will he tell everybody now in time to get there and set up? No, that would give the jurors a heads up about the case they're being called for and they might do some research on it...That was his biggest fear about the location being revealed ahead of time...PLEASE don't let KC walk away from this because it is impossible for her to get a fair trial!
I can almost see JP getting so annoyed that he would definitely delay the trial, or maybe even dismiss it...Surely not!--Is that possible!?

ORLANDO, Fla. -- The appeals court returned their opinion late Friday afternoon regarding jury selection in the Casey Anthony case, essentially stating that the court has the right to withhold disclosure of the location in the interest of providing Casey Anthony a fair trial.
However, the court cannot tell those media outlets, who have signed the confidentiality agreement, prior to releasing that information to those who did not, in effect striking down the confidentiality agreement.
The affect of this order is that all media outlets will be informed by the court at the same time and this will not force a delay, and the trial will commence as scheduled Monday morning.

FLORIDA -- Most people across the state know about the Casey Anthony case and the majority thinks she is probably guilty, but WFTV did find one city that is not following the case much at all and it's not the city you might have expected.
SEE THE RESULTS OF WFTV'S EXCLUSIVE POLLS:
West Palm | Orlando | Jacksonville | Pensacola | Tampa
Jose Baez tried to move Casey's trial to southeast Florida to avoid pretrial exposure, but WFTV's exclusive poll shows he should have looked in the opposite direction. WFTV found amazingly low awareness in Northwest Florida.
In the Pensacola region, only 18 percent of potential jurors are very familiar with the Casey Anthony case. Compare that to a third of the potential jurors in Jacksonville, Tampa Bay and West Palm Beach, and 58 percent in Orlando.
WFTV jury expert Randy Fisher says jury selection in Pensacola is the best-case scenario for Casey Anthony's defense, because she wants limited pretrial exposure.

Chief Judge Belvin Perry still has not publicly disclosed where the jury will be selected.
...A court spokeswoman said late Friday that no one will be notified until "sometime Monday morning."...
...Witness to talk about Casey Anthony's tattoo
Also Friday, prosecutors filed notice of new evidence involving a witness, Melissa England.
England will testify that Anthony told her she was getting a tattoo July 3, 2008, and that she wanted the words "La Bella Vita" on her shoulder, the new filing says. England also heard Anthony tell someone by phone that she could not meet because of car problems. When the call was over, England heard Anthony say, "Oh my God, I'm such a good liar."

People always ask me why the Casey Anthony case commands such attention. I’ve heard the Anthony coverage described as disgraceful, relentless, ridiculous, even news pornography.
But remember that the story began as the case, we were told, of a missing child, and many people went looking for her. People cared about the victim and wanted to know what happened to her. They still do.
Children die every day in this country but not under these mystifying circumstances.
Most trial followers, I would venture, only care about the Anthonys in terms of what they reveal about the victim. George and Cindy Anthony fanned the interest with that unusual memorial, their strange interviews, his suicide attempt and her bizarre comment that Caylee was alive.
For long stretches, George and Cindy made more headlines than the jailed Casey. The family dynamics have kept people watching.
And now those relationships are making more headlines just days before jury selection is to begin. What else would you expect from the Anthonys?
In the end, it really isn’t the Casey Anthony story or the George and Cindy Anthony story — it’s the Caylee Anthony story that matters. What happened to this child?

left Caseys care. Who she will say she gave her to.
Its not Zenaida thats for sure. For any other story to occur, it first has to start with Caylee being given to someone.

ORLANDO --
Jury selection in the Case against Casey Anthony is now just two days away.
Cindy Anthony scheduled a visit for 9 a.m. Saturday at the Orange County Jail. But Casey Anthony rejected the visit.
Cindy Anthony still showed up to the Orange County Jail to deposit money into her daughter's account.
It would have been the first time in more than a year she's been able to speak with her daughter.
Both of her parents went to speak with her a number of times following her initial arrest in 2008, but then stopped because videos of those visits were being released to the public.

Re: The case against Casey Anthony ~ May 2011~
By Curtis Krueger, Times Staff Writer

LARGO — Somewhere in Florida on Monday, lawyers will start picking a jury in the high-profile murder case against Casey Anthony, the Orlando mother accused of killing her 2-year-old daughter.
The trial will take place in Orlando, but to find jurors who have not seen as much news coverage on the case, they will be picked elsewhere in the state.
The presiding judge has refused to say where that will happen.
But in Pinellas County this week, court officials have been preparing the criminal courthouse on 49th Street as if something very big is coming.
The building's largest courtroom has been cleared of other proceedings for early next week. A healthy number of people have been summoned for jury duty on Monday and Tuesday. And media parking spaces outside the courthouse have been cordoned off.
Pinellas-Pasco Chief Judge Thomas McGrady refused to comment on whether jury selection for the Anthony case is coming to Pinellas.
"Any information on where that case is going to go has to come from Orlando," he said.
About the schedule in the large Pinellas courtroom, Pinellas-Pasco courts spokesman Ron Stuart said: "There's nothing I can tell you."
A spokeswoman for the Pinellas County Sheriff's Office, which handles security at the courthouse, said she could not provide details on preparations for Monday and Tuesday. She referred a reporter back to the courts.
Pinellas Clerk of the Circuit Court Ken Burke referred a reporter to Chief Orange-Osceola Judge Belvin Perry.
Casey Anthony, 25, is accused of killing her daughter Caylee Marie Anthony in 2008. The case drew international news coverage as police searched for months for the girl's remains, which eventually were found about a quarter-mile from the Anthony home.
Because of the media glare, the Orange-Osceola courts have ruled that jurors will be selected from an undisclosed location outside that Central Florida region. While the case is well known across the state, the media coverage in the Orlando area has been even more intense.
After jurors are selected, they will be transported to Orange County for the trial.
In all court cases, judges want to find jurors who will make their decisions based on evidence they hear in court, not on media coverage. This can be difficult in high-profile cases like this one, in which potential jurors may have read or watched coverage about the case, and decided if a defendant is guilty or innocent.
It's only the extreme cases in which courts go outside of their normal jurisdictions to find jurors. For example, a high-profile double-murder case from Fort Myers was tried in Pinellas in 2009.
But this case would be somewhat different because after jurors are picked, they will be transported to Orange County, where they are expected to be sequestered.
Perry was so intent on keeping the jury selection site a secret that he initially wanted media outlets to sign a confidentiality agreement. Those signing the agreement would have learned the site Sunday, as long as they promised not to report it until later. Media outlets objected, and an appeals court rejected the plan.
The court has said the location of jury selection will be announced Monday.

George didn't appear. I think George has pretty much had it. Now he has to listen to two months of Cindy telling him Casey didn't do it and him knowing she did.
It did "smell like a dead body in the trunk" because that is where Casey put Caylee while she decided what to do with her. She had no plan other than to dance and live the "beautiful life".
Personally I have always thought the pool and an accident "gone bad" will be the defense. How George figures into it. I don't know.
Somewhere I heard they are going to have live coverage of jury selection but the cameras will point to the Seal of Florida and no juror will be shown. But there will be coverage.
Of course Judge Perry would allow the Anthonys in court. They are next of kin and have that right to be there. If he denied that that right they would simply turn on any television station and watch it from home.
Lets face it folks. Casey entering and leaving the courtroom every day is a big deal to the thousands watching this "show". What she wears, who she choses to smile at and what she does at that table is newsworthy.
Will she hold up day after day and week after week and month after month? We shall see.
What is going to be presented will not be any new news to anybody that has followed this case for almost three years. Bombshells? I don't think so.
Will Baez explain what happened in the first five minutes of opening. Doubtful. Fools gold.
I will say this. Baez and Casey have been soulmates and loyal to one another since the first day she hired him to represent her. They are two peas in a pod and both think he can pull this rabbit out of the hat.
Doubtful. Really doubtful.
Let the games begin.

Here are some examples of enabling behavior.
•Repeatedly bailing them out - of jail, financial problems, other "tight spots" they get themselves into
•Giving them "one more chance" - ...then another...and another
•Ignoring the problem - because they get defensive when you bring it up or your hope that it will magically go away
•Joining them in the behavior when you know they have a problem with it - Drinking, gambling, etc.,
•Joining them in blaming others - for their own feelings, problems, and misfortunes
•Accepting their justifications, excuses and rationalizations - "I'm destroying myself with alcohol because I'm depressed".
•Avoiding problems - keeping the peace, believing a lack of conflict will help
•Doing for them what they should be able to do for themselves -
•Softening or removing the natural consequences of the problem behavior
•Trying to "fix" them or their problem
•Repeatedly coming to the "Rescue"
•Trying to control them or their problem
