WKMG-Channel 6 had the interview in the Casey Anthony case that everyone was talking about today.

Reporter Tony Pipitone talked to Dr. Werner Spitz, a forensic pathologist who is a witness for the defense. Spitz blasted Dr. Jan Garavaglia’s autopsy of Caylee Anthony for reaching an unfounded conclusion that the manner of death was homicide. Casey Anthony is charged with first-degree murder in Caylee’s death.

Pipitone later told anchor Lauren Rowe that he was surprised how frank Spitz was. “He really went into great detail with me,” Pipitone said.

WKMG legal analyst Mark NeJame was astonished that the defense allowed the interview. “What the defense has done throughout this case is signal their defense to the prosecution, giving them the opportunity to prepare and get ready,” NeJame said. “It’s happened once again. You can rest assured these very, very able and excellent prosecutors are going to listen to every word of Tony’s interview and then they’re going to prepare even better for the cross examination of this doctor. I don’t understand it for the life of me.”

The defense came in for more criticism from WESH-Channel 2 legal analyst Richard Hornsby.

The issue: the sudden fascination with convicted kidnapper Vasco Thompson. The defense was saying Thompson and George Anthony, Casey’s father, were in phone contact the day before Caylee was reported missing. George Anthony’s lawyer said his client didn’t know the man.

Hornsby suggested that Thompson won’t be a big deal. “This issue has been known since the very beginning of the case,” Hornbsy said. “It appears Mr. Thompson’s phone number shows up in public data bases and it relates to a number George called.” Hornsby said it was simply “a mix-up in the data base.”

Hornsby blasted the defense: “What have they been doing? What other issues have they missed? It’s just another thing they’ve done wrong along the way. This is the wrong time in a death-penalty case to be discovering this witness and not even knowing what he may say, which is the bigger issue. They don’t what he’ll say.”

I am wondering. Do you think Casey was denied her rights in not receiving the Miranda warning?

No Jeanne I don't think KC rights were violated in any way. When those handcuffs were place on her the 1st LE officer on the scene thought he was dealing with a thief not a missing child.
I woke up the some directions from our founder (wrap) to lock the thread on the states case and open this one up for us to blog on for the rest of the trial. wrap did a great job starting the thread. All the live links are right there so everyone can listen in. I hope you all know how special you are. Many of us have been together a long time and praying that justice will be served.

Here for a little while before I head out to the hospital. Hubby is making progress, however it is slow. I've been watching some and catching up at night, but haven't had time to comment much. I am anxious to see what Bozo and team bring forward, but even more excited to see how LDB and JA shoot it down...They are skillful sharpshooters!

Sidebar - Ashton wants to know where Baez questioning is going with this and doesnt want him to question things not in evidence. Frankly Im lost on this questioning as well. Lots of analysts said defense case would be weak - and so far it has made no impact

I would bet any amount of money that Kronk is simply a meter man who found Caylee's remains and anything else is SPIN....and that George and the *new* defense witness have nothing to do with each other or the case.

I do not think that Casey's rights were denied and neither does the Judge, so that is a good indicator to me. :-)
