[UPDATE] Crowley Search Continues; Beware Rumors, Sites Collecting Money
Family spokesperson says Crowley family not connected to fundraising sites
By Renea Henry Email the author 11:17 am
Peggy Dunne, family-friend of missing Rye teenager Pierce Crowley, says she is "unaware of any [legitimate] fundraising efforts and that the family does not have any connection" to campaigns to do so.
When the 15-year-old boy went missing Friday, it was inevitable that people want to help and groups would organizing fundraising campaigns.
But be very careful when pitching in—and make sure to verify the motives of groups claiming to raise money.
As for the outpouring of volunteer inquiries, anyone who wishes to do may contact Dunne via email at [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.].
To make sure adults in the region have seen Pierce's face, volunteers have wallpapered the region with flyers. Dunne said the family is also well aware and appreciate the social media push sparked by Crowley's friends who started a Facebook page and are keeping up awareness about Pierce by messaging using the hashtag #findpierce on Twitter.
Dunne says right now "there's not much more to do but wait." She is asking that people pray and hope for Pierce's swift return.
Dunne said there is a great deal of speculation in current reported accounts of Pierce's activities up to his disappearance. She said the last time Pierce's friend saw him he was headed to get a taxi, but there is no confirmation that he actually did and no driver has been identified claiming to have had contact with the young man.
She said she and the family have seen to rampant speculation by commenters across social media and stress "[They] are all rumors."
It seems the best thing to do right know is remain focused on looking for Pierce and supporting the Crowley family.
White Plains police has not provided any official investigation updates as of Tuesday morning and the search remains open.

Pierce Crowley Search Continues
Help the Crowley family find their son Pierce.
By Renea Henry Email the author May 29, 2012
The Crowley family of Manursing Way is asking everyone they know to help find their 15 year old son Pierce, last seen Friday in White Plains.
As of Monday morning, White Plains police continue to search for the boy and did not have any official updates on the case.
According to a News 12 report, Crowley left New York Hospital in White Plains with a friend on Friday and went to The Cheesecake Factory restaurant. The two took a taxi to the White Plains Metro-North station and parted ways. Crowley was last seen in the cab and may have been upset.
White Plains Police have released the following information about the boy:
Pierce Crowley was last seen on May 25, 2012 in the area of 21 Bloomingdale Road, White Plains, NY. He is described as a male, white, 5 feet 10 inches tall, weighing 150 lbs, with light brown hair, blue eyes and braces. He was last seen wearing a bright blue Florida Gators short sleeve T-shirt with dark blue jeans and black sneakers with lime green trim. Please contact the White Plains Police Department at (914)422-6111 with any information.
Crowley family friend Peggy Dunne said more than 500 volunteers have mobilized to look for the Iona Prep ninth grader.
Crowley's mother sent a touching email in the hours after Pierce first went missing asking friends check teen hang-out spots such as skate parks, train stations and even Playland.
The community response has been immediate and heartfelt. Though Pierce attends Iona Prep in New Rochelle, the Rye High School Parents Organization immediately used its distribution list to get information out about the search. And parents throughout Rye, Rye Brook and other surrounding areas have been re-sending emails and newsletters throughout the weekend.
Pierce's peers have also responded lighting up social media sites like Facebook, Tumblr and Reddit with words of encouragement for the Crowley family.
Defeation wrote on Tumblr:
I don’t personally know Pierce Crowley, but I have many friends who do know him because I live in the next town over. Please reblog this to get the word out. Pierce, I don’t know you, but we all need you to come home. Everyone loves you and misses you. Pray for Pierce.
Rosa Frew Porto wrote on Facebook:
I'm sure many mothers are praying for Pierce and his family. May the Lord watch over him and brings him back in the name of Jesus. Amen

Cops search for cab driver who reportedly took missing New York boy to railroad station
Published May 30, 2012
FoxNews.com
Police are searching for the taxi cab driver who they say picked up a missing New York teenager from a Westchester County hospital and drove him to a railroad station.
Pierce Crowley, 15, hasn't been seen or heard from since he and another boy sneaked out of a side door at a hospital in White Plains, N.Y., a suburb of New York City, on Friday, the Journal News reported.
The other boy, 13, who has not been named, told authorities that he and Crowley left New York Hospital in the afternoon and got into a taxi, which took them both to the White Plains railroad station, according to the newspaper.
When the two got out, the unidentified boy said he took a train to his home in New York City. He told authorities he did not know where Crowley was going.
Crowley's parents have issued a desperate plea for the boy's return -- and said they've received an outpouring of support from friends and volunteers in the community.
"We will stay the course until we find him," his mother, Gretchen Crowley, told the newspaper.
Public Safety Commissioner David Chong reportedly said Crowley and the other boy were enrolled in a "program" at the hospital, though he did not elaborate.
The newspaper reported that a "code red" automated call made to area residents described Crowley as a runaway who was last seen at 21 Bloomingdale Road in White Plains -- the address of New York Presbyterian Hospital and the Weill Cornell Department of Psychiatry.
Crowley, a freshman at Iona Preparatory School in New Rochelle, is described as having light brown hair, blue eyes and braces on his teeth. He is 5-foot-10 and weighs 150 pounds.
Police are urging anyone with knowledge of Crowley's whereabouts or the taxi driver's to call White Plains police at 914-422-6111 or the Detective Division at 422-6223.

NY teen Pierce Crowley, missing nearly a week, found safe
Pierce Crowley, 15, of Rye, N.Y. was found just after midnight Wednesday night.
By Elizabeth Chuck, msnbc.com
A teenager who vanished last Friday from Westchester County, N.Y., has been found safe in Manhattan, officials said Thursday.
Police said officers spotted Pierce Crowley, 15, just after midnight Wednesday night with a group of other teenagers in Washington Heights, in the northern part of New York City. They questioned Crowley, and once they determined it was the teen, officers returned him to his family's house in Rye.
"He was unharmed, appeared to be in good health and good spirits," White Plains Police Lt. Eric Fischer told msnbc.com.
Police, family members, and hundreds of volunteers had been searching for Crowley, plastering fliers around Manhattan, Westchester and the Bronx. On the day he vanished, he had been at White Plains' New York-Presbyterian Hospital in what his parents described in an email to friends as "a fragile state."
He hadn't been feeling well when he disappeared, his parents had said, but didn't elaborate. The medical center where he was last seen is one of the top psychiatric hospitals in the nation.
According to police, a friend of Crowley's had come forward to say the two left the hospital and went to The Cheesecake Factory restaurant together, Newsday reported.
They then took a cab to the White Plains Metro-North train station, the report said. Crowley's friend took a train to New York City while Crowley stayed behind in the cab.
Crowley had $40 in his pocket, no credit card and no cell phone, police told Newsday.
"We were treating it as a missing persons case. At no time did we ever have any information that foul play was suspected," Fischer told msnbc.com.
On Thursday morning, a Facebook page called "Find Pierce Crowley," which had garnered nearly 7,000 fans, was updated with a single sentence: "Pierce is safe back home, for all your help!"
Crowley's parents did not return a phone call from msnbc.com, but his mother, Gretchen, told Newsday, "We're just so incredibly relieved, I can't even put it into words. He's here and he's safe and obviously everybody is thrilled here."
He was happy to back with his family, a White Plains public safety commissioner said.
"He looks like he just walked out and decided to have an adventure," David Chong told Newsday. "It's like finding the proverbial needle in the haystack."
Tips about Crowley's location, including one Wednesday night about him being in the Washington Heights area, had poured in throughout the investigation, the White Plains police said.
Crowley is a student at Iona Preparatory School in New Rochelle, where he plays hockey and lacrosse and runs cross-country, Newsday said.
