The State vs Jodi Arias ~ Travis Alexander murder trial
According to the Phoenix New Times, #JodiArias could be executed in as little as 4 years if she waives all appeals.
That's never going to happen, no matter what Jodi said in the interview about wanting ultimate freedom! I'll bet money on it!

They said on Dr. Drew that it takes about 12 years in AZ once a person is convicted of the DP so she would be approximately 44.
But, I agree..whether it's 4 years or 12 years, she w/appeal this till the cows come home.
I would bet her lawyers are sick to death of her!

Meet The 3 Women Currently On Arizona's Death Row
GOODYEAR, Ariz. -
If found guilty, Jodi Arias faces the death penalty. If she is sentenced to death, she would join a very small group.
Only three women sit on Arizona's death row, each guilty of a terrible crime.
Of all the women who committed crimes in Arizona in the last 80 years, juries decided these three committed the worst.
Two killed children and one killed an invalid husband who was dying of cancer. All three of them were given the ultimate punishment – death.
Debra Milke, Wendi Andriano, Shawna Forde. All of them are housed in the Perryville state prison in Goodyear.
In conjunction with cooperation of the department of corrections, FOX 10 got exclusive video inside that unit.
The prison is just north of Interstate 10 near Cotton Lane.
The unit containing death row is called the Lumley Unit. Inmates in the death row cell are locked inside 23 hours a day. Before their 23rd hour, they are put in shackles and walked to small cage-like enclosures for recreation.
Who are the three women sharing this fate?
Let's begin with Debra Milke, the woman with the most tenure on Arizona's death row -- nearly 23 years.
Just before Christmas in 1989, Milke and two accomplices told Milke's young son Christopher he was going to meet Santa Claus at Metro Center Mall. Instead he was taken out into the desert near 99th Avenue and Happy Valley Road, where he was shot in the head and dumped there.
Prosecutors proved Milke thought the boy was a burden and wanted him dead.
Just before she was taken to death row, Milke sat down with Channel 10 reporters for her only on-camera interview.
"I don't have just one tragedy. I have two. The first is losing Christopher and the second is going through all this legal stuff and being convicted of it on top of it," she said.
Milke she still maintains her innocence.
The next woman on Arizona's death row is Wendi Andriano
Andriano and her husband managed the San Riva Apartments in Ahwatukee. Her husband was diagnosed with terminal cancer. Andriano was tired of caring for him, so she poisoned him.
When that wasn't working fast enough, she stabbed him and beat him to death with a bar stool.
Juan Martinez, the same man who is now trying to put Jodi Arias on death row, went after Wendi then. The same way he's going after Jodi now.
Andriano was convicted of premeditated murder in 2004.
Finally, Shawna Forde. She and her vigilante group burst into a home in southern Arizona, hoping to steal drug money to fund their anti-illegal immigrant activities. But there was no drug money, and she and her accomplices shot and killed a man and his 9-year-old daughter.
Three women, all found guilty of terrible crimes, all awaiting their final punishment.
All three of these women are still in various stages of appealing their cases. No execution date is set for any of them.
The last woman executed in Arizona was Eva Dugan back in 1930.
She was hanged, and the hangman made a mistake, and she was actually decapitated by the noose when she dropped through the trap door.

After a jury convicted her of first-degree murder, Jodi Arias said she would prefer the death penalty as opposed to spending the rest of her natural life in an 8' x 10' prison cell.
"The worst outcome for me would be natural life. I would much rather die sooner than later," Arias told Fox affiliate KSAZ in a post-conviction interview.
"Longevity runs in my family, and I don't want to spend the rest of my natural life in one place ... I said years ago that I'd rather get death than life, and that still is true today. I believe death is the ultimate freedom, so I'd rather just have my freedom as soon as I can get it."
On Wednesday, the same jurors who found Arias guilty after her four-month trial will return to the courtroom to decide whether she should face life in prison or the death penalty.
Arias was convicted last week of first-degree murder in the 2008 slaying of her ex-boyfriend Travis Alexander. For 19 weeks, a jury of eight men and four women listened to prosecutor Juan Martinez accuse Arias of premeditated murder. Arias' defense team claimed self-defense, saying she was a victim of domestic violence.
Friends of the man Arias murdered think her interview shows that she's up to her old deceitful tricks.
"There are three things we know with certainty about Jodi Arias. 1- She lies, 2- She lies, and 3- She lies. This is not up for debate, it's what she does," Chris Hughes, a close friends of Alexander's at the time of his death, told The Huffington Post.
"I think Jodi's request for the death penalty is Jodi doing what she does; lying and manipulating,” Hughes said. “Jodi is scared to die. She has been threatening to kill herself since high school. She has had access to guns and knives [and] she is still here. If Jodi wanted to be dead, she would be."
Dave Hall, another close friend of Alexander’s who has been vocal about his feelings since the verdict came down, has a similar take. "I think Jodi Arias loves herself too much to actually want that,” he told HuffPost.
Both Hall and Hughes, along with Hughes' wife, Sky, have stood by the Alexander family since Travis' slaying. In December 2011, Sky Hughes told HuffPost that Arias deserved to die for what she did.
"I can't think of anything scarier than her being let out," Sky Hughes said. "She would date again -- someone's son, brother, friend. She slaughtered an innocent person because he didn't want to be with her. She has no soul, no accountability. As long as she is alive, those she has contact with are not safe. She is extremely evil, and she deserves the death penalty.
The Hughes, and Hall are happy with the guilty verdict and are now looking forward to the final chapter -- Arias' sentencing.
However, as Alexander’s friends have indicated, the sincerity of Arias' supposed desire for death is in question. The 32-year-old convicted murderer is an admitted liar, raising the question of whether she is a sympathetic character or a great actress. Chris Hughes believes she is the latter of the two.
"Jodi wants to live so she can continue to control and manipulate those that are too blind to see her for who she really is," he said. "Jodi wants to live so she can continue to milk the media, and the world, for attention she doesn't deserve. She wants to play the victim, which is a slap in the face to anyone who is/was a real victim of domestic violence ... She is "famous" for slaughtering a good man in cold blood on June 4, 2008, but she didn't stop there ... She has continued to slaughter him for the past five years."
The aggravation phase of Arias' trial begins Wednesday at noon EDT. During the aggravation phase, the defense and prosecution will present opposing arguments about whether Arias killed Alexander in an "especially heinous, cruel or depraved manner." If the jury finds that she did, then it can consider the death penalty as an option in sentencing.
After the aggravation phase, the sentencing phase begins, during which the jurors could hear from the families of Alexander and Arias. Arias could also be sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole, or 25 years to life in prison. To sentence her to death, the jurors must be unanimous in their decision.
Arias was put on suicide watch right after the verdict, but now is in regular custody. Alexander's friends, however, said that her threats of suicide are just that, threats.
"She has been threatening to kill herself since junior high or high school. She has had access to guns and knives [and] she is still here. If Jodi wanted to be dead, she would be," Hughes said.
Hall added that the threats are likely more self-preservation. "If she tells people, give me death and then they do, it's a way of protecting her[self] and acting like she's not hurt ... since the outcome was what she said she wanted."
The Arias family has declined to comment.

Jodi Arias claims she would prefer death over spending the rest of her life in prison, and while the convicted murderer's sincerity has been questioned, her comment does raise questions about what, if any, say she has in her own fate.
Arias first indicated her preference after her arrest for the slaying of her ex-boyfriend, Travis Alexander.
"If I am found guilty, I won't have a life ... If I killed Travis, I would beg for the death penalty," Arias told Esteban Flores, a Mesa, Ariz., police detective, in a videotaped interview July 15, 2008.
Arias repeated her desire last week, after her murder conviction.
On Wednesday, the same jurors who convicted Arias after her four-month trial will return to the courtroom to decide whether she should face life in prison or the death penalty.
Arias was found guilty last week of first-degree murder in the 2008 slaying of Alexander. For 19 weeks, a jury of eight men and four women listened to prosecutor Juan Martinez accuse Arias of premeditated murder in her ex-boyfriend's slaying. Arias' defense team claimed self-defense, saying she was a victim of domestic violence. The jury ultimately chose to accept the prosecutor's version of the events.
In the aggravation phase of the trial Wednesday, the defense and prosecution will present opposing arguments about whether Arias killed Alexander in an "especially heinous, cruel or depraved manner."
The penalty phase follows. If the prosecution is able to prove the slaying was cruel, the jury can consider the option of a death sentence. If not, the jury will have the choice of sentencing Arias to life without parole or life with the possibility of parole after 25 years.
The 32-year-old Arias is an admitted liar, raising the question of whether her request to die is sincere or an attempt to manipulate the system.
According to Seattle attorney John Henry Browne, who was not involved with the case, Arias could make a personal plea for death to the jury during the penalty phase of the trial. There’s just one catch, the veteran attorney said. "She has the right to do [so only] if [she is] competent," Browne told HuffPost.
Browne represented notorious serial killer Ted Bundy in the 1970s, and more recently, Colton Harris-Moore, known as the "Barefoot Bandit."
Arias was found competent to stand trial, however her competence could now be called into question.
During Arias' trial, a psychologist hired by the state testified that Arias suffered from borderline personality disorder. Experts for the defense said it was their opinion that Arias suffered from acute stress disorder and post-traumatic stress disorder.
Her mental competence could very well surface during her upcoming hearings. Arias has made bizarre statements throughout her trial and has, on more than one occasion, expressed a desire to commit suicide.
Following last week's verdict and Arias' comments to KSAZ, the Maricopa County Sheriff's Office placed Arias on suicide protocol at the Estrella Jail. She was later transferred from the jail to a psychiatric ward at a different facility. However, she has since been transferred back to the Estrella Jail, where she is being held alone in a cell for 23 hours a day. She is permitted to use the phone and showers for one hour each day.
Seattle attorney and legal analyst Anne Bremner agrees with Browne and said Arias' competency could raise several hurdles for her in the event she plans to ask for death.
"She must be competent and the problem here is that she appears to have mental issues," Bremner told HuffPost.
Even if Arias is found competent to express a desire for death, she may not receive any support from her attorneys, Bremner said. "She would need to go pro se with standby counsel. These lawyers won't participate. To ask a lawyer to advocate for a death sentence is like asking a doctor to participate in an execution," she said.
Browne agrees there are some ethical complexities, calling it an "interesting issue for defense lawyers."
"Can you ethically assist your client in obtaining a death sentence? I am in a small minority that says 'yes,' if the client is competent," Browne said. "I think it could be a rational decision to die rather than pass away in a max security geriatric ward."
As an example, Browne pointed to the case of Gary Gilmore, a man who murdered two men in Utah during the 1970s and then fought to be executed. Gilmore's wish was ultimately granted and he was executed by firing squad at Utah State Prison.
"His famous last words were 'Let's do it,'" Browne said. "His final attorneys honored his wishes, but to great controversy."
Regardless of Arias' purported desires, she will not be the one who will ultimately decide whether she will serve life in prison or if will she join the ranks of the 127 other people on death row in the state.
There is, also the possibility, Bremner pointed out, that Arias' statements regarding her desire for death were self-serving -- an attempt by a cunning woman to manipulate the penalty phase.
"She fought for her life on the stand for 18 days. I don't think she will be telling her lawyers she wants death. I think that was reverse psychology on her part," Bremner said.
The aggravation phase of Arias' trial begins Wednesday at 1 p.m. EDT.

EDT.

The judge is done, Martinez is up for his opening statement. "She made sure she killed him by stabbing him over, and over again" #JodiArias
me: Juan just mentioned "suicide" and Nurmi objected. First sidebar. Juan won the battle. He is discussing the suicide. Nurmi objected again w/ "your honor, I am going to repeat my objection. May we approach?" 2nd sidebar.

IMHO, Nurmi knows the majority of his objections are . I think at this point there have been at least 5 sidebars already. It's ridiculous! Looks like Juan once again won the objection. Flores is prepping the overhead projector for Dr. Horn's testimony. Both Nurmi and Wilma take notice as they stand at the Judge's bench. 10 minute break... drags on while Hodi does what exactly... fluffs her hair, reapplies powder, salt in her eyes to induce tear production?
