LONGMONT, Colo. - A Longmont mother issued a public plea for her estranged husband to safely release their 3-year-old son after police say Monty Ray Turner attacked Brandy Turner and abducted the toddler from her Longmont home on Saturday morning.

"Just, dad, don't hurt him. Just let him be safe. Let him be happy," Brandy Turner said before TV cameras during a news briefing at the Longmont Police Department on Saturday afternoon.

"I'd like to say, 'Bring him home.' But, obviously, I don't know if he'd listen to that," the mother said of Monty Turner, who is accused of abducting his son for the second time in less than a year.

An Amber Alert was issued for 3-year-old Luke Turner Saturday after Monty Turner allegedly kicked in the door to Brandy Turner's home at 724 Eldora Place about 10:07 a.m. and then pepper sprayed the boy's mother and shocked her with a stun gun, said Longmont Police Cmdr. Jeff Satur.

Brandy Turner said she was screaming and wrestling with Monty on the floor, trying to get away as little Luke watched from a kitchen table.

"My son got out of his chair at the table and was yelling to him, 'Please don't hurt my mommy,'" the mother said.

Unsure what Monty might do, Brandy Turner said she stopped struggling and said he could see his son, because that's what the father initially said he wanted.

But as the mother slipped into a bedroom to grab a cellphone to call 911, the 51-year-old father kidnapped the toddler and took off on bicycle with Luke in a child seat, police said. He was last seen riding eastbound on Mt. View Avenue from Independence Drive.

Police said they believe Turner had a vehicle parked nearby that he used to flee the scene. Brandy Turner said she suspects an accomplice was waiting in a vehicle to help the father escape with the boy.

Brandy Turner said she's worried about the toddler.

"I'm sure Luke has pepper spray all over him. He's probably scared to death," she said. "He witnessed his dad attacking me and I was screaming and fighting."

Asked by a reporter if she's concerned Monty Turner could hurt their son, the mother said, "I don't know. Part of me is afraid, yeah, that he could hurt him, just from everything that he's done. But I hate to think that way. I would like to think that he loves him enough to... at least not hurt him."

Brandy Turner said the couple's marriage fell apart and she filed for divorce last summer.

She said she gave in to Monty Turner's request to let Luke stay with him for three days over the Fourth of July last year and the father vanished with their son, hiding out with the boy for nine months.

Brandy Turner said she somehow regained custody of Luke in March.

Monty Turner is currently wanted on an arrest warrant for violating the conditions of a $50,000 bond and he will be facing additional charges related to the alleged kidnapping, burglary and assault, Satur said. Turner also violated a judge's protection order that prohibited him from contacting his estranged wife and his son.

Longmont police said they asked the Colorado Bureau of Investigation to issue the Amber Alert because they are concerned about Luke’s welfare. The FBI has also been notified and will be working with police on the search for the father and son, Satur said.

Monty Ray Turner is a white, 51-year-old man who is 6-feet-2-inches tall, weighs 210 pounds and has short brown hair and blue eyes. He was last seen wearing a long-sleeve dark blue shirt and blue jeans.

Luke Turner is a white 3-year-old boy who is 3-feet tall, weighs 28 pounds and has blond hair and blue eyes. He was last seen wearing a royal blue "Lightning McQueen" shirt and light blue swim shorts.

If you see Monty Turner or Luke Turner or know their whereabouts, call Longmont Police at 303-651-8501.

Police quickly located a blue 2001 Ford F350 pickup truck and ruled it out as the vehicle Turner might be driving.

Police said Turner could be driving one of the following vehicles:

--1999 Chrysler 300, white 4-door, bearing Colorado license 161-ZXZ

--1997 Ford F350 pickup, brown 4-door, bearing Colorado license 541-YLH

--2001 Dodge Caravan, maroon, bearing Colorado license 576-ZXY.

--1993 Jeep Grand Cherokee, unknown color, Colorado license 837-UHS

LONGMONT COLORADO Police are looking for a man suspected of breaking into his estranged wife's home this morning, shooting her with a Taser and mace, and kidnapping the couple's 3-year-old son, Luke Turner.
Police believe Monty Turner, 51, took the boy and left the area of the 700 block of Eldora Place on a bicycle about 10:07 a.m. Saturday. Longmont Police Cmdr. Jeff Satur said Monty Turner and the boy were last seen eastbound on Mountain View Avenue from Independence Drive. Satur said police believe a vehicle was waiting for him somewhere in the area and that he had help.
An Amber Alert, indicating that a child has been abducted and could be in danger, was issued at about 2:40 p.m., according to emergency radio

Luke had just been returned to Brandy Turner in March after Monty Turner had previously taken the child and disappeared last July. In that case no crime had been committed because both parents had custody rights. However, Brandy Turner now has sole rights to the child, who is described as blonde with blue eyes. Luke was last seen wearing a dark blue shirt and light blue swim trunks.
Police tracked Monty Turner and Luke to the child's paternal grandparents' Washington County property in March. The family's search included a Facebook community with more than 9,100 followers and a profile with the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.
Police are seeking several vehicles that might have been involved in the kidnapping, including a white, four-door 1999 Chysler 300 with Colorado tag 161-ZXZ, maroon 2001 Dodge Caravan with Colorado tag 576-ZXY, a brown four-door 1997 Ford F350 pick-up with Colorado tag 541-YLH, a dark blue over gray 2001 Ford F350 pick-up with Colorado tag 245-FLJ, and a 1993 Jeep Grand Cherokee with Colorado tag 837-UHS.
Satur said police called the FBI for assistance and that an Amber Alert is being sought in the case.
Monty Turner is wanted on an outstanding warrant with a $50,000 bond for failure to appear in court. Brandy Turner had a protection order in place against Monty Turner, police reported. Police said Turner is being sought on suspicion of kidnapping, burglary and assault in relation to today's events.

UPDATE: An Amber Alert is cancelled after the child is found safe, father arrested accused of assaulting his estranged wife and kidnapping their 3-year-old son.

Longmont police said a man attacked the child's mother before taking the child and fleeing.

Longmont police said 51-year-old Monty Ray Turner assaulted his wife at her Longmont, Colo., home Saturday and left with their son, Luke Turner.

The father was arrested at a motel in Brandon, Manitoba in Canada at about 1:30 p.m.

Longmont Police said, early Sunday morning the Missouri State Patrol found the white Chrysler that they believed Monty and Luke Turner were traveling in, in Venon County, Missouri. Monty and Luke have not yet been found. Monty's father, Ronald Turner was arrested as an accessory.
