I guess it's just luck that someone finally paid attention to the accusations against this pervert, criminal, yuck of a person. How did this mother manage to get this guy investigated, was she just more persistant or did she just talk to the right LE person? She and her daughter are heros in my eyes. It is disgusting that other pediatricians called him a pedophile and joked about it...WTF...in what circumstances could that possibly be funny!!??

Delaware pediatrician Earl Bradley — indicted this week for abusing 103 of his young patients in his office — is being called the worst pedophile in U.S. history. Horrified parents and medical professionals across the country are demanding to know how Bradley, who videotaped his sexual abuses, got away with his alleged crimes for at least a decade, despite a number of red-flags that went unheeded. (Watch a CBS report about Delaware's pediatric pedophile.) A fact sheet on the case that's shocked Delaware and the nation:

Who is Earl Bradley?
Dr. Earl Bradley, who was arrested in December, is a 56-year-old pediatrician. At present, little else is known about his private life. (Check back for details as they arrive.)

Where did he practice?
At the BayBees pediatric practice in Lewes, Delaware — an office was known for its "carnival like" decorations, including a "Disney-themed" examination room, a ferris wheel and VW beetle cars "scattered across the grounds."

Where else has he practiced?
He was previously a doctor in Pennsylvania, and also holds medical licenses in Florida and New Jersey, where local police are also conducting investigations into Bradley's past.

How many victims are there?
Bradley's initial arrest in December involved nine child patients. That count has risen to 103 victims — a figure authorities expect could go higher yet — as authorities uncovered more evidence and more victims stepped forward

When did these acts take place?
Between 1998 and 2009, but the "vast majority" took place since 2007.

Who were the victims?
The victims ranged from toddlers of just six months to 13-year-olds. All but one are female.

How was he caught?
A 2-year-old complained to her mother that Bradley had "hurt her" when he took her to a basement room in his practice during an exam, and the woman informed the police.

How did the evidence of all his victims emerge?
A subsequent police search of his properties found "more than 13 hours" of video documenting his crimes. When the Delaware Attorney General set up a helpline to encourage other victims to come forward, it was "swamped" with calls.

Were there warning signs?
Yes. Bradley was reported to the police in 2005 for "inappropriately kissing a 3-year-old patient." Dr. Bradley's office manager, his sister Linda Barnes, claims she passed on other patient complaints to The Medical Society of Delaware in 2005. Then, in 2008, three parents complained to the police of "inappropriate vaginal exams."

Why wasn't anything done?
The 2005 abuse allegation went nowhere after the Delaware Attorney General's office decided it lacked sufficient evidence to charge Bradley. The Medical Society of Delaware says it has no records of complaints made against the doctor. And the 2008 charges were dropped after an unnamed Superior Court judge declined to authorize a search warrant.

Isn't this a massive failing on the state of Delaware's part?
Beau Biden, the state's current Attorney General (and Vice-President Joe Biden's son), has ordered a "thorough examination" of the state's operations from 2005 onwards to see if anyone failed to pursue complaints against Bradley. Delaware governor Jack Markell has also ordered an independent review.

What has Bradley been charged with?
Bradley has been indicted on 471 charges of sexual crimes including rape, sexual assault, and sexual exploitation of a child. If convicted, he can expect a lifetime in jail with no possibility of parole.

Take off that damn Mickey Mouse jacket!

I agree!!
Thank you, BJ for all the information you are providing us with regarding this terrible case. I only wish that it had been discovered long ago, and that so many innocent victims didn't have to suffer all these years! It\\'s Not Fair

The indictment of former Lewes pediatrician Earl Bradley might be described as novel-like in its length and scope.
The more-than-160-page indictment lists 103 child victims – including one boy – and 471 total counts, as well as a pattern of continuous abuse over 11 years. Most charges are for first-degree rape, second-degree rape, unlawful sexual contact and sexual exploitation of a child.
Bradley faces mandatory life imprisonment if convicted on the rape charges.
Other charges include four counts of reckless endangerment, four counts of second-degree assault and nine counts of continuous sexual abuse.
Continuous sexual abuse occurs when a person sexually abuses a child on three or more occasions over three or more months. Kerry Angell, spokeswoman for the Department of Justice, said according to state statute, just one count of continuous sexual abuse can garner two to 25 years in prison, with the first two years mandatory.
The charges were based on 13 hours of video files, computer hard drives and digital media files seized from Bradley’s home and BayBees Pediatrics office on Route 1 in Lewes.
The earliest case of abuse listed in the indictment is alleged to have taken place on or around Dec. 10, 1998, with the most recent case Dec. 13, 2009. Bradley was arrested Dec. 16, 2009.
Forty-four counts alone are listed for a single Jane Doe, who was raped several times over a period of more than 13 months. The indictment alleges, on June 7, 2008, Bradley forced this victim to perform oral sex, to the point she could not breathe and she appeared, on the videotape, to lose consciousness or stop breathing.
Another child, who the indictment says had not yet reached her 6th birthday, was part of a video, edited into at least two clips by Bradley, that showed the doctor performing and forcing the child to have oral sex.
Attorney General Joseph “Beau” Biden III said at a press conference Monday, Feb. 22, that he expects to add more charges to the indictment over the coming months.
“I’m committed to prosecuting this case to the fullest extent of the law. I remain committed to doing so,” he said.
The Delaware State Police opened an investigation of Bradley in December 2008 in response to allegations of abuse by Bradley. The police attempted to get a search warrant at that time but were denied.
Police continued the investigation for the remainder of the year before Bradley was finally arrested.
The timeline of the alleged abuses shows 48 victims were abused during 2009 alone.
Calls to Bradley’s attorney, Gene Maurer, were not returned.
Biden said the indictment opens the next phase of the prosecution of the case: an arraignment.
Angell said arraignments generally occur within four to six weeks after indictment. The court will determine the date.
While Biden did not say whether the Bradley case was the largest case of child abuse in U.S. history, he did say he knew of no other case that had this many victims.
“It is difficult to talk about sexual abuse, and it’s even more difficult to acknowledge that sexual abuse of young children takes place in our state, let alone Lewes, one of the most beautiful places our state has to offer,” Biden said.
“The charges in this indictment are unique in the state of Delaware. These were crimes committed against the most vulnerable among us.”

For years, Brandy Little worked as a nurse for the Delaware pediatrician accused of molesting more than 100 of his young patients. Dr. Earl Bradley treated two of her children, his four kids sometimes baby-sat hers, and her oldest daughter even spent the night at his house.
Now the mother of three — along with thousands of other parents whose kids were treated by the quiet, disheveled doctor — has been asked to provide photos of her children to see if they match images on 13 hours of video that prosecutors say Bradley took to document his alleged crimes.
But Little and other parents aren't sure they want to know.
"If something had happened, it hasn't affected them in any way," Little said of her oldest daughters, now 11 and 16, who have told her nothing happened. "I don't know what I'm going to gain from knowing that he had done something to one of my kids."
In the days since Bradley was indicted on hundreds of separate sexual abuse charges, the scandal has created a wrenching dilemma that has pitted some spouses against each other, parents against grandparents. Guilt over leaving children alone with Bradley lurks in the background for some.
Bradley, 56, is being held in lieu of $2.9 million bail and is charged with 471 separate crimes. If convicted, he could become one of the most notorious pedophiles in the nation's history. His attorney has indicated that the criminal case could center on Bradley's mental health.
The allegations have devastated the small coastal community of Lewes, where he practiced. For some families, the victim identification process has confirmed their worst fears. Others are anxiously waiting.
A Rehoboth mother of two daughters hopes the silence from authorities is a good sign.
"I don't know how I would be able to cope with that," she said. "I think it would kill me if my child were to be identified."
The Rehoboth mother, like several other parents interviewed by The Associated Press, spoke on condition that their name not be used to protect her family's privacy. The Associated Press does not usually identify alleged victims of sexual assault.
Dr. Eli Newberger, a professor of pediatrics at Harvard Medical School, said deciding whether to cooperate in the identification process is a complicated issue for parents.
"The best interests of individual children are probably better served if the abuses are identified," said Newberger, former medical director of the Child Protection Program at Children's Hospital in Boston. "There is a reasonable likelihood for a lot of these children of having subsequent symptoms."
At the same, Newberger said, parents are generally the best judges of their children and that deserves respect.
"If parents are not worried and say they don't see any perturbation in their children's behavior," he said. "... then I think that's probably not a sign that these particular kids are foredoomed to trouble."
Patricia Dailey Lewis, a deputy attorney general and director of the Family Division in the state Department of Justice, said repressed memories can come back to haunt victims who may not have any symptoms of abuse now.
"We can't just see pictures of children being molested and ignore it because their parents don't want to participate," she said, noting that free counseling and other services are available to families once victims are identified.
The disturbing images of Bradley's alleged assaults were captured by cameras he set up in various rooms, which he decorated with Disney characters and stockpiled with toys and miniature carnival rides. Bradley spent much of his time and money on toys and amusement items that cluttered his offices.
"He was very easy to work with and for, and I never had any bad feelings or bad vibes," said Little, who left Bradley's practice in 2004. "He was just not a businessman. He could not run a business, and that's one reason I left.
"I wasn't into the whole carnival stuff; it was definitely over the top," she added. "Some people thought it was the greatest thing in the world... Some people thought it was weird."
A statue of Mickey Mouse sits abandoned in a front room of Bradley's shuttered office, where cameras can still be seen through the upstairs windows and on the boarded-up carousel near the front door. The property, like that of his run-down home, is strewn with junk, including rusting Volkswagen Beetles and amusement rides. Coin-operated Buzz Lightyear rides are stuffed inside a trailer, one with a sticker warning "Do Not Leave Child Unattended."
Prosecutors said some of Bradley's victims were sexually assaulted after he separated them from his parents during office visits. Others had unnecessary "exams" caught on videotape in the presence of their unsuspecting parents.
"I am very afraid that if we don't get people the help they need, we're going to see marriages crumble, we're going to see families crumble," Dailey Lewis said. "... Blaming yourself is not going to help your child. It's not going to help your family."

Every day last week, a team of State Police detectives has arrived at a different front door in the seaside resort town of Lewes on the same heartbreaking mission. They bring with them a captured video image, carefully cropped to show nothing but a young face, that confirms another family's nightmare: Its child might be a victim of Earl Bradley, a popular pediatrician who stands accused of sexually molesting scores of young patients.

More than 100 victims have been identified from the 13 hours of video made of the assaults. Delaware Attorney General Beau Biden last week announced a 471-count indictment against the physician.

But as one of the largest sex-crime investigations in U.S. history works through more than 7,000 case files removed from Bradley's office, hundreds of other parents wait to find out if their child was victimized.

"There are definitely more to come," said Patricia Dailey Lewis, the deputy attorney general who runs the victims-service office the state has set up a few doors from Bradley's frame house. "I had a woman call yesterday just screaming, 'I want to know right now if my daughter is on a video.' It's horrible for them, just horrible."

Lewes residents say the case has shattered the town's typical calm and threatens to split it over questions of blame.

Lewes' anguish began two months ago when police, acting on a complaint from a patient, arrested Bradley, 56, and searched the garishly decorated office he maintained.

Amid the miniature carnival rides and elaborate toys, investigators found a network of video cameras, computer files and other evidence they said documents a history of systematic pedophilia dating back at least 11 years.

Since 1998, according to the indictment and interviews with attorneys, Bradley violated children ranging in age from 18 months to 14 years of age, many of them on multiple occasions. The charges include rape, sexual exploitation, continuous sexual abuse of a child and reckless endangerment. All but one of the victims identified so far are girls.

Bradley is being held with bail set at $2.9 million. His attorney did not return a call seeking comment.

Many of the alleged assaults reportedly occurred in the presence of parents, disguised as part of an examination under a privacy sheet. Bradley might have also used a camera concealed in a penlight or a cellphone he was known to place on the exam table, according to one couple briefed by investigators.

At other times, Bradley would take the child on a brief visit to the basement or a nearby outbuilding, ostensibly to fetch one of the post-exam toys he was famous for giving his patients.

"He took her down to the basement one time, but it was for less than two minutes," said one distraught mother whose 7-year-old daughter had been a patient of Bradley's since birth. This woman and husband, who asked not to be identified, agreed to meet at a library to talk about the case. "He told me it was too messy down there," she said. "I waited right at the top of the stairs."

The couple said investigators have told them several of the counts in the indictment relate to crimes against their daughter. Bradley said he was treating the child for a recurrent urinary-tract infection, which they now see as a ruse.

"It was just a way for him to examine her private parts every time we took her," said the husband. "We have laid in bed until 3 o'clock in the morning to review every visit from birth to now, looking for clues."

In retrospect, they said, there were some: He lavished hugs and nose rubs on their daughter while being businesslike and perfunctory with their son, now 2; the kisses on the cheek that their daughter had lately begun to complain of; that quick visit to the basement.

But at the time, Bradley struck them as accommodating and competent. He met them at off-hours and sometimes didn't charge for minor consultations.

"He had a very good reputation," the mother said.

Oddball or talented?

There were always two schools of thought about the doctor who buzzed around town in a series of bright yellow Volkswagen Beetles. To some, he was a disheveled oddball, socially awkward and overly ostentatious with an office that featured a statue of Buzz Lightyear on the roof.

But to others, including many medical professionals who put their kids in his care, he was a talented doctor with a unique gift for relating to children.

"They all said he didn't talk well with parents but with kids he was the best they'd ever seen," recalled the mother of the 7-year-old, who said she chose Bradley based on the recommendation of nurses at the hospital the day her daughter was born. "I look back now and realize that was the day I could have changed a lot of things."

The charges against Bradley have rocked the town of 3,100. Public meetings have been filled with angry accusations that authorities should have uncovered Bradley's suspected crimes earlier because there reportedly were complaints dating back many years. Other professionals, from teachers to preachers, say a new wariness affects every contact with a family.

"You second-guess going to a dentist office now," said Anna Moshier, who did not take her two children to Bradley. "My son had to go back for an X-ray, and I said, 'No way he's going without me.' This has always been like a village, but our sense of trust has been broken."

Beau Biden, who was elected attorney general in 2006 and is the son of Vice President Joseph Biden, said his office has poured unprecedented resources into the case. More than 20 prosecutors and staff workers, along with agents borrowed from other departments and the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, are working in Wilmington, Lewes and a crime lab in Dover.

In Lewes, the temporary office is fielding calls from victims' families, overseeing Bradley's medical records and counseling children, parents and even grandparents.

'Neverland' trimmings

Margaret Drury, a retired nurse from Lewes, has been picketing Bradley's former office, facing the traffic on the road with signs that call for officials to remove the amusement-park trimmings from the site. Two weeks ago, state workers dismantled the Ferris wheel, moved Buzz Lightyear to a side yard and covered the carousel with plywood. A Mickey Mouse riding toy is visible through the front-door window.

Drury, standing near one of the idled yellow Volkswagens, said the local medical community should have known what Bradley might have been up to within the doors that some locals reportedly referred to as "Neverland."

For victims and their parents, it might be years before recriminations give way to healing. The 7-year-old's parents said it was impossible to shield their daughter from talk of the case, which has saturated local media and sidewalk gossip. It adds to their agony when bloggers, strangers and even friends who don't know their involvement blame parents for being careless guardians.

The father recently had to hold his tongue when he was in front of two chattering strangers in line at Dick's Sporting Goods, both of them heaping blame on "those kids' parents."

"I wanted to turn around and say, 'If that monster could fool me, he could fool you,' " the father said, tears in his eyes. "You hear that stuff, it's like an arrow in your heart."

This is so sad, but it gives us an understanding of how the parents (and even medical professionals) were fooled into thinking he was harmless. I can't imagine being one of those parents & having to identify your child on the video!

I guess the only "bright" spot in all of this, is that thanks to his videotapes, he won't be getting out of jail for the rest of his life!! crazy 1

BJ, have you found out if he has (or had) a wife & children? If so, it would be interesting to hear their stories too!

This is from a news article that was already posted upthread.
Bradley, who opened his practice in 1995, did have at least one nurse recently working with him, and some of his four grown children at times worked in the office, patients said. Police have not disclosed whether a nurse or other staff member joined him during examinations.

Five girls who "appeared to lose consciousness" during sex assaults are shown in video recordings seized from Earl B. Bradley's home and pediatrics office in Lewes, according to a 471-count indictment handed down by a Sussex County grand jury.

"Our worst fears have been realized," said one stunned woman, whose two girls were Bradley's patients several years ago. The new details emerged in the indictment, which accused Bradley of raping or sexually abusing 103 children.

Told that the indictment said some victims appeared to become unconscious or stop breathing during the attacks, the woman was at first speechless.

"Oh my God," she finally said. "He's just pure evil. No one with a conscience could do this."

The sex attacks caught on video files seized by investigators in December began in 1998 and continued through Dec. 13 -- three days before his arrest, the indictment said. Most occurred over the last three years. All but one was a girl, and court records have said one was as young as 3 months.

The indictment and other court records accused Bradley, who had offices in Lewes and Milford, of fondling the children and forcing them to engage in oral sex and intercourse, at times with youngsters screaming and trying to escape.

Prosecutors are still trying to identify many of the children on the tapes.

Post by Nama Fri Mar 12, 2010 10:53 am

A lawsuit filed in New Castle County against the Medical Society of Delaware, Beebe Medical Center and three doctors alleges failure to report sexual abuse by former Lewes pediatrician Earl Bradley.
Attorney Bruce Hudson of Wilmington, on behalf of the parents of 3-year-old Jane Doe 16, filed the suit. Besides Beebe and the Medical Society, the suit also names doctors James Marvel, Carol Tavani, Lowell Scott Jr. and Scott’s Milford office.
The suit says the society and the doctors had information and reports of unprofessional conduct by Bradley and did not report him to the Board of Medical Practice. It also says Beebe had information and reports of unprofessional conduct that endangered the public and were not reported to the board.
Bradley is facing 471 counts of rape and exploitation involving 103 children.
“As a direct and proximate consequence of the defendants’ repeated and continuing failures to report suspected acts of unprofessional conduct, namely, the sexual abuse of child patients by defendant Bradley, to the board, Bradley was able to retain his license to practice medicine and was able to continue the practice of pediatric medicine, which put him in a position of intimate contact and trust with his child patients whom he molested and abused sexually,” the suit says.
Regarding Beebe, the suit alleges several instances of negligence, including admitting an incompetent physician, Bradley, to its staff and designating him as its chief of pediatrics. It also says Beebe was negligent in failing to conduct competent oversight of Bradley while he served on the staff; for granting Bradley on-call privileges to examine newborn patients at Beebe; and failing to formulate, adopt and enforce adequate rules and policies that would ensure quality care and safety for Bradley’s patients.
In addition, the suit also accuses Beebe of medical negligence in its continuing failure to report Bradley’s mistreatment of patients to the board. All the defendants are accused of acting negligently in not reporting Bradley to the Division of Child Protective Services.
“All defendants acted in a reckless and wanton manner, and are liable for punitive damages in order to deter them and others who have an affirmative legal duty to report abuse of minor children from similar misconduct in the future,” the suit says.
Besides punitive damages, the plaintiffs are also seeking pre-judgment interest against the defendants. Hudson, who has filed 21 lawsuits related to the Bradley case, said the defendants had a legal duty to report Bradley’s transgressions and did not follow up.
Representatives for Beebe were not available for comment at press time. Scott, Marvel and Tavani could not be reached for comment.

This is excellent news & I hope the other victims in this horrific case do the same! I am 100% sure that they will win their case, as he basically provided the evidence against himself when he made the videotapes of his crimes. The only thing I am confused about, is why they are not suing the "dr." himself? Maybe because he will have no money left after spending his money on lawyers?

It is important for the victims to receive some compensation for the abuse they suffered at the hands of this "monster", as they will need to pay for all the therapy I am sure they will be needing down the road! As well, it will hopefully send a strong message to other medical professionals that may be tempted to commit crimes against innocent children.

The trial of former Delaware pediatrician Earl Bradley on charges that he sexually assaulted patients has been pushed back to June 1 because two of his defense attorneys are involved in a capital murder trial.

A letter from Superior Court Judge William Carpenter Jr. also says Bradley's trial will be moved to New Castle County. Prosecutors had said in an earlier letter that they would not object to moving the trial out of Sussex County.

Prosecutors noted the ongoing investigation involving Bradley and the number of unidentified victims as reasons for moving it.

Bradley is charged with sexually assaulting more than 100 patients over more than a decade before being arrested in December 2009.

Bradley's trial had been set to begin Feb. 14.

It's probably a good thing that the trial didn't start on Valentine's Day! Let his victims enjoy this day, without having to face this monster. However, I am sure they are also anxious to get it over with, and have him face the consequences of his crimes... hopefully the trial won't be delayed again!

Delaware pediatrician goes on trial for alleged sex abuse

A judge heard evidence Tuesday at the one-day bench trial of a Delaware pediatrician accused of molesting 103 of his patients, some of them 5 or younger.
Judge William C. Carpenter, hearing the case against Earl Bradley, 58, advised attorneys he will issue his verdict later, court officials said.
Bradley, whose practice was in Lewes, went into the trial facing 529 counts of rape, sexual exploitation of a child, unlawful sexual contact and other charges.
Prosecutors filed an amended indictment on Tuesday condensing the charges against Bradley into 24 counts. There were no new victims or incidents alleged in the new indictment.
The charges accuse Bradley of first-degree rape, forcing girls to perform oral sex on him and filming dozens of the children engaging in sex acts.
Bradley waived his right to a jury trial and was tried before Carpenter, according to court officials in Georgetown, Delaware.

Police officers and detectives, but not any of the alleged victims, testified Tuesday.
Evidence is based on videos seized from Bradley's home and office, Delaware Attorney General Beau Biden has said.
In April, Carpenter ruled against a defense motion to suppress. Public defenders challenged the scope of a search warrant used to acquire videotape evidence from two buildings.
Prosecutors would have no comment on the proceedings because of a gag order, state attorney general's spokesman Jason Miller said.
Bradley's attorneys called no witnesses nor made closing arguments at the trial, according to CNN affiliate WBOC. CNN left a message with public defenders.
Police arrested Bradley in December 2009.
All but one of the 103 patients he is accused of abusing are girls, some as young as 2 years old. The alleged abuse occurred between 1998 and 2009, according to the indictment.

A former Delaware pediatrician who decorated his office with Disney characters and miniature amusement park rides was found guilty Thursday of sexually abusing scores of his young patients.
Earl Bradley, 58, recorded homemade videos of the abuse, said prosecutors, who presented the judge with more than 13 hours of videos showing sex crimes against more than 80 victims, most of whom were toddlers.
Superior Court Judge William Carpenter Jr. announced the verdict in business-like fashion, avoiding any personal remarks about Bradley. An indictment against Bradley initially contained 470 counts, but attorneys agreed before the trial to consolidate them into 24 counts.
Bradley was found guilty on 14 counts of first-degree rape and five counts each of second-degree assault and sexual exploitation of a child.
Bradley, who will be sentenced on Aug. 26, faces up to life in prison on each rape charge.
He showed no reaction when the verdict was announced, but some of the spectators cried.
Carpenter presided over a one-day trial in which prosecutors called two witnesses and presented the judge with an external hard drive containing the videos, recorded from December 1998 to Dec. 13, 2009. Bradley was arrested after a 2-year-old girl told her mother the doctor hurt her after an office visit, an accusation that came just days before the last video was recorded.
In a footnote to his verdict, the judge wrote that he was unable to discern the video activity for one alleged victim and there was no video for another.
"However, because the evidence clearly established the filming of prohibited sexual acts knowingly being committed by the defendant against the other children listed in those counts, the failure to establish the conduct for these two children has no bearing on the guilt of the defendant as to these counts," Carpenter wrote.
Bradley waived his right to a jury trial after Carpenter denied a motion by defense attorneys to prevent the videos from being admitted as evidence. The defense claims they were illegally seized.
The defense presented no case at trial so they could more quickly appeal the judge's decision allowing the videos to be used as evidence.
Attorney Dean Johnson reiterated Thursday that he would appeal the judge's decision after Bradley's sentencing. He declined further comment, citing a gag order that remains in effect until the sentencing.
Attorney General Beau Biden also wouldn't comment because of the gag order. Biden last year cited his desire to see the Bradley case to its conclusion as a reason for not seeking the U.S. Senate seat formerly held by his father, Vice President Joe Biden.
Biden and prosecutors huddled with victims' families behind closed doors after the verdict was read. Biden hugged one teary-eyed woman before she and other relatives of victims were ushered out the back door of the courthouse and escorted to their cars by uniformed guards. Two women who got into a van with two young girls declined to comment when approached by a reporter.
The case shocked the close-knit community of Lewes and the town of Milford, where Bradley closed an office in 2005 after police investigated him.
For years before his arrest, there were jokes among colleagues about Bradley, a quiet, unkempt man who had trouble looking adults in the eye but nevertheless gained some parents' trust. Bradley's own sister, who worked in his office, told police in 2005 that her brother was bipolar and taking medication from the office, and that several parents had complained to her about Bradley inappropriately touching patients.
Two pediatricians interviewed in 2005 also told investigators about complaints from Bradley's former patients. One who told police he had referred to Bradley as a "pedophile" explained to The Associated Press last year the reference was "more of a joke."
Authorities said after finishing exams at his Lewes office, he would offer his victims toys or treats, then assault them in the basement or a building out back where investigators found the videos.
The case created a wrenching dilemma for some families, pitting some spouses against each other, or parents against grandparents, as they wrestled with whether to cooperate with investigators and find out for certain if their children were among the victims in the videotapes. Guilt over leaving children alone with Bradley lurked in the background for some.
In the end, prosecutors were able to identify only 70 of the 86 children on the videotapes.
Reviews ordered by Gov. Jack Markell and the attorney general's office after Bradley's arrest found that state medical society officials, individual doctors and the Delaware Department of Justice violated state law by not reporting possible unprofessional behavior by him to the medical licensing board. The board itself was criticized for failing to act on information it did receive about Bradley.
Last year, Markell signed nine bills prompted by the Bradley case that tightened regulation of doctors and clarified the obligations of the medical and law-enforcement communities to report and communicate about suspected physician misconduct and child abuse.

Pediatrician ordered to spend life in prison for molesting patients

(CNN) -- A Delaware pediatrician accused of molesting more than 100 of his patients was sentenced Friday to serve his lifetime in prison.
Earl Bradley, whose practice was in Lewes, was given the maximum sentence of 14 life terms, plus 164 years in prison without the possibility of parole, according to a statement from the office of state Attorney General Beau Biden.
He originally had faced 529 counts of rape, sexual exploitation of a child, unlawful sexual contact and other charges. In June, he was found guilty of 24 counts.
The charges include first-degree rape, forcing girls to perform oral sex on him and filming dozens of children engaging in sex acts.
Police officers and detectives, but none of the alleged victims, testified in June at a bench trial, which is held before a judge without a jury. Bradley's attorneys did not call any witnesses, nor did they make closing arguments.
The evidence against Bradley is based on video seized from his home and office, Biden has said. Public defenders in April challenged the scope of a search warrant used to acquire these tapes, but the judge ruled against them.
According to the indictment, the abuse occurred between 1998 and 2009. All but one of the 103 victims were girls, some as young as 2 years old. Police arrested Bradley in December 2009.

The offices where former Delaware pediatrician Earl Bradley committed acts of sexual abuse against scores of young patients over more than a decade will be emptied and demolished next month.
A spokesman for Attorney General Beau Biden tells The News Journal of Wilmington, Del., (http://bit.ly/prhRQo ) that logistical details for the Oct. 10 demolition are still being worked out with other state agencies.
Bradley was sentenced last month to 14 life sentences without parole for 14 counts of first-degree rape. Bradley also was sentenced to more than 160 years in prison for multiple counts of assault and sexual exploitation of a child. Investigators seized dozens of homemade videos from an outbuilding at the Lewes complex, where Bradley had lured patients with promises of treats and toys.

He deserves every single day he serves, too.

I wonder what he told parents so that they allowed the kids to go to another part of his property, without them?

He's messed up a lot of lives. May he rot in hell.
