Casey Anthony Hearing: Mar. 31, 2011 at 10:00 a.m.

This is the thread for blogging during today's hearing. (I won't be able to be on. Hopefully, I will be bringing hubby home from the hospital...Dr. said maybe today. He is better, but his oxygen level drops whenever he tries to walk very far. Hoping the steroids will help that improve, IF they don't drive him crazy first...)
I think the usual websites will livestream the hearing. This hearing is on the defense motion to add 6 new witnesses. The state wants them to show cause why they should be allowed to add them past the deadline.

Lisette Im so glad to hear your husband is better.

Its after 10am but no one is showing the hearing
I wonder if it was cancelled.

I logged on at 10:07 and it was almost over. Ill have to wait for one of the stations to post what happened today

Lisette, what a relief that your husband is finally coming home. Those steroids should perk him up. He probably won't sleep much and w/be hungry a lot.

The most dramatic moment in the Casey Anthony case today didn’t happen in court. Rather it happened as WFTV-Channel 9’s Kathi Belich tried to question defense attorney Cheney Mason outside.

“You are probably the stupidest reporter on the face of the Earth,” Mason sneered at Belich.

She wanted to ask Mason about a defense motion that Chief Judge Belvin Perry was biased in rulings on the case. ”He hid his face behind his umbrella,” Belich said of Mason.

It was baffling: How does that kind of behavior help a client?

Mason and Perry were professional at a hearing today. WFTV legal analyst Bill Sheaffer explained, “You make the motions, you make the allegations, the judge rules, you move on, it’s not personal, it’s business.”

Anthony is charged with first-degree murder in the death of her daughter, Caylee.

From today’s short hearing, Belich highlighted that the prosecution said it plans to use 236 photos at the trial, which is scheduled to begin in May.

I watched Kathy Belich and Mason. What exactly was she hopeing to accomplish?

He was arrogant and rude but..she knew him?

So why?

I am still confused on this jury selection. They are going to start jury selection just a couple of days before trial starts? Surely the defense will protest that.

For those of you with more experience in these trials does that seem normal?

They are in the process of jury selection in the doctor for Michael Jackson trial right now and that trial starts on the same day as the Casey Anthony trial.

I agree, Jeanne. They need to be extremely careful who they select.

I heard Judge Perry mention Tallahassee. I wonder if that is where he will find is juror's. Lot's of college kids and professor's. It would be a good choice. And, it's the Capitol.

Now that I think of it I guess it does make sense to seat and sequester the jury. They don't want jurors that aren't real familiar with this case to have a few weeks to look things up.

I believe there is stadegy in everything Baez does. So I am wondering. How do you feel when you see Casey show up in the same lavender sweater two days in a row?

Does that bring out some sympathy for her?
No emotion at all?

I found myself thinking about this when she showed up this morning in the same thing she wore yesterday.

I thought..can't they get her some clothes...who is responsible for her dress.

I don't know but I got some mixed emotions from the girls clothes and wondered if anybody else did?

Was she in court yesterday? I think she wore that sweater at the Frye Hearings last week.

She will be in court tomorrow at 9am. I thought that was funny when JP asked "8:30 or 9:00?".
